It's a brisk but sunny Friday afternoon on the grounds of Hogwarts, but once inside Greenhouse Four, it will be dimmer and warm. This is a restricted Greenhouse, but you have permission to be here today for class (so if you've ever wanted to peek inside, this is your chance!)
Scattered around the room are small, round tables about the height of your waist (yours, not Professor DeVries, fortunately). Each one seems to have some sort of plant on it, but what kind of plants they are is currently unknown, for each table is covered by a neat muslin cloth. You can try to peek at them if you dare, but you won't be able to lift the cloths up, because these cloths have been fastened down by magic.
Professor DeVries is puttering around somewhere in the back of the greenhouse--if you listen closely, you'll here him rummaging around. So come in, take a seat, and get yourself settled. Class will begin shortly.

Desiree tilted her head to one side, examining the plant on the table closely. The first thing she noticed was the swaying, but that didn't tell her anything. That could be a Devil's Snare or a Flitterbloom. She noted the plant’s dark green color and bush-like appearance. That looked a bit too bushy to be a Devil's Snare!
She was reasonably sure this plant wasn't Devil's Snare. Most likely a Flitterbloom, though it was rather leafy. Perhaps too leafy for a Flitterbloom? There was only one way to know for sure. Using her quill, she gave the plant a gentle little touch.

The plant bent just a little bit at the quill's touch, but otherwise just kept swaying prettily.
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
Although Sohrin was not a fan of anything dangerous. Dangerous spells, dangerous plants, dangerous creatures... he believed they could all be learned safely from a theory book. However, this was Hogwarts. Books themselves could be considered hazardous.
Even though he didn't like it, he was intrigued by the Devil's Snare. He frantically jotted down some of what was mentioned, and when it came time to practice the Bluebells Flame, the Ravenclaw spent a little more time writing in his notebook before pulling his wand from his robe pocket.
He spent some time practicing the incantation and wand movement. He stumbled over the pronunciation a few times and corrected himself until he finally got it. When he held a bright blue flame in his hand, he looked around with an excited expression on his face.
Wait...how did he put it out again? He waved his hand as if it could extinguish it before he remembered that the counter-spell was on the whiteboard, Extinguo was definitely easier to say... The bluebell flames were gone in no time.
Sohrin watched as the Professor revealed what was under the covers on the tables. They...all looked the same to him from this distance though.
Not wanting to find the Devil's Snare at all, the first year hesitantly shuffled over to table number three until he stood in front of it. So, what was he supposed to do? He looked over at his friend two tables over and watched him use a quill to poke the tendrils. Was he supposed to poke it? The Ravenclaw took his wand and poked it.

Although Desiree was confident that this plant was not a Devil's Snare, she had her wand at the ready just in case. It never hurt to be prepared! She watched with anticipation, waiting to see how the plant would react to her touch, and… It didn't do much of anything, just bend a little bit.
Okay, that was definitely a Flitterbloom! Clinging vines would've tried to wrap around the quill or her hand, and Devil's Snare would've done much worse than that. She recorded her findings in her notes, describing the plant's dark color and bushy appearance. When she was finished, she wrote Flitterbloom in big bold letters.

The plant on Table 3 consisted of a lot of leafy tendrils clustered around it in all directions. It sat there peacefully as Sohrin approached it. However, the minute Sohrin poked it with his wand, it began to wrap itself around the wood, clinging gently to it.
SPOILER!!: Desiree at Table 9

Ary eyes the new specimen before him with keen interest, the same he had shown with the Devil’s Snare. He mentally ran through the descriptions of the other two plants; he had quickly eliminated this as Devil’s Snare as he would have easily recognised it as so based on his encounter moments ago. It was so… leafy. Could this be the Clinging Vines then?
There was only one way to find out for sure.
The Slytherin reached forward again with his quill, the feathery side extended. A few leaves were prodded while his gaze remained completely fixed on the plant. He was quite ready to react should the plant spring at him.

The prodded tendril began to slowly creep toward Ary's quill and gently twine around it (mashing the feathers a bit)
Tapio had been walking around the room, observing the students' interactions with the plants and making sure no one needed his help. But they all seemed to be doing spendidly on their own! Everyone definitely had the Bluebells Spell down pat by now.
Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end and a faint magical "pinging" noise arise from Tapio's wand, sounding the signal that class was coming to an end.
"All right, class, we're running out of time, I'm afraid. You have a little time to finish things up. And for anyone who wishes, I've left out some supplies on your desks for repotting a cutting of a Flitterbloom plant if you wish to have one to take with you. And yes, I've left Flitterbloom plants on your desks as well; don't worry, there are no Devil's Snares in there."
And sure enough, on each desk was a moderately-sized Flitterbloom plant, as well as a few small pots, some trowels, and a small bag of potting soil.
[OOC: Okay, guys, class is nearly over. Finish up anything you're in the middle of--I'll still be monitoring the plants-- and feel free to rp taking and repotting a cutting to take with you. Class will be closing tomorrow night, Nov. 20]

It must be something about the way the tendrils crept because Ary was quite transfixed by the entire process. It was only when his quill feathers began to be smushed that he jerked out of his reverie. “Hey! That’s not at all nice.” It was very rude as a matter of fact. The Slytherin shook and tugged at his quill in an attempt to get it free. He recalled there was no need to use the Bluebell Flames on this plant since its hold wasn’t typically a strong one.
Ary was momentarily distracted by DeVries’ mind. He was able to have his own Flitterbloom plant? Neat! He would definitely be enlisting Drake to assist him with keeping the plant alive once it was repotted.
Glancing back at the Clinging Vine, he once again attempted to shake his quill free.

Desiree was on her way to another table when she heard a faint pinging. That was a creative way to let everyone know time was running out! Most professors just shouted “time's up”. She stopped where she stood and turned toward the professor, listening intently.
They got to keep a clipping of Flitterbloom? Fun! She returned to her desk to find the plant, pot, and soil waiting. After placing her quill and parchment back into her bag, she carefully reported a section of the flitterbloom, giggling softly as it swayed back and forth. Now it just needed a name, and preferably a Disney one. Ooh, she had it! ”I'll call you Flora, okay?” she said to the plant, which continued swaying. She'd take that as a yes!
She gently picked up the freshly repotted plant and headed for the door. ”Bye, Professor!” she said on her way out. ”Thank you for the Flitterbloom!”

The tendril relaxed and let go under Ary's shaking and pulling and retreated back to the central plant.
CORRECT! This is a Clinging Vine.
Tapio walked around the room checking on the plants and the few remaining students still working with them. "All right, that's class, then. Please look over your notes and make sure you are clear on which plant is which; it will be on your final. And I trust that no one here will ever make the mistake of confusing a potted Devil's Snare for a Flitterbloom, should you ever encounter one."
[OOC: Okay, that's class! Thanks to those who came to play with me this week. I'll leave the thread up until tomorrow for anyone who wants to post leaving, etc.]

Bye, bye, little plant!
Ary’s smile came about once more as he watched the plant retreat. He sort of liked this one as it wasn’t a very dangerous plant. But there was no more time to explore other tables as class was being dismissed. He had a feeling that he would ace this aspect of his final exams.
Ary gave DeVries a wave goodbye. Oh yes, he did not forget the Flitterbloom!
