| | |  The Whomping Willow
Graphic credit: Felixir The Whomping Willow is a valuable, and extremely violent, sentient magical tree. It has stood on the Hogwarts grounds since 1971, surviving several battles, a collision from a flying Ford Anglia, and thousands of reckless daredevil students. The violent flailing of its limbs serve a well-known purpose in protecting the hidden pathway beneath its roots, and though this passageway to the Shrieking Shack has fallen into disrepair, finding a way to touch the trick knot on the tree's trunk will still calm its movements. For a moment, anyway.
Students are reminded to maintain a safe and respectful distance from this tree, no matter how curious or reckless brave you're feeling. The Whomping Willow will not hesitate to attack anyone who comes within reach of its branches. Violent, magical trees are not exactly known for being easygoing, and nor are irritated groundskeepers happening upon children taking unnecessary risks. You have been warned.
OOC: Please do not RP for the Whomping Willow.

Xavier was attracted to dangerous things. Plain and simple. The void he struggled with deep inside him was to blame for. Hogwarts was an entirely different world his old school had been. It ran on a higher vibration and Xavier was becoming a little desperate to experience it.
As of lately, it felt as if the void filled up whenever his nerve endings lit up, and that happened to be when his heart accelerated--when he did things he wasn't supposed to be doing.
For example, right now. He stood with a stoic expression, facing the Whomping Willow, a pillow held by its corner in his hand. One of his dormmates was going to sleep without a pillow tonight, but he was curious to test the Whomping Willow, and since he wouldn't risk his body, a pillow would do.
He stood a good distance from the tree, not enough to elicit it's anger, but maybe enough to sense him.

From the Groundkeepers Hut to the Gardens. Sure she missed stuff inbetween but that as what she was exploring for!
She was by the giant willow now and looking at it. She had no desire to get close to it and it seemed maybe the person she saw that looked her age had the same idea?? She made her way over to him and sees he had a pillow??? Interesting item to bring outside.
"Why the pillow?"
She asked curiously.
Was he going to throw it at the willow. Would be fun to watch but seemed like a waste of a good pillow.

It seemed like he was going to have an audience. Slowly turning his head towards the source of the voice, Xavier squinted his eyes at her. She was the girl he met at the quidditch shop. He had superb memory and it's not once failed him.
"I want to test how fast the Willow will tear someone or something into shreds," he responded coolly. Maybe if he could levitate a random towards the willow--but that was most likely frowned upon here. "Unless you would like to volunteer?" And he promised he wouldn't tell on her.

Ahhhh, that where she knew him from. He did look familiar though she was better with faces than names. He was from the quidditch shop. Ok it was all coming back to her.
Theia shook her head. She did not want to volunteer at all. But she was still curious about this idea.
"Are you good with the levitation charm??"
Because she also doubted he wanted to get close to the willow. Maybe he had a good arm but she was skeptical.

Yumeki might have a reputation for napping under trees but Dhruv had purposely not selected the Beech Tree by the Lake for that exact reason. The Whomping Willow was a more practical choice in this aspect since they didn’t want the Gryffindor to actually fall asleep. It wasn’t chilly as yet, thankfully, so the duo should have no trouble carrying out their discussion today.
Dhruv pulled themself up a patch of grass a fair distance away from the Willow, sitting cross legged. From their point of view, the ancient Tree was on full display; magnificent as always. | |
