Off the edge of the grounds near the border of the Forbidden Forest, Professor Javier Hernandez has taken up post as Groundskeeper. He now spends his off days and evenings in his new hut, relishing in the peace and quiet out on the grounds. To the side of the hut, Javier has started a small garden - mostly common potions ingredients, but he has a few tomato plants there as well. Huge signs at state "NO GNOMES ALLOWED" line the edge of the garden - doesn't hurt to try, right? The wreath on the door also changes depending on the season, which is how he shows his holiday spirit in his own little way.
If you have any questions about potions, this is the place to find your professor. You can also stop by if you notice anything seems off with the grounds - or if you just want to have a cup of tea with your grumpy potions professor. he actually DOES enjoy the company every once in a while, believe it or not. Chances are he's in, so knock on the door and wait patiently for him to answer.
Job Fair Consultation with Anna Walles and Sophia Svennson

Javier had decided to host his double-student consultation at his hut because...well, it was his hut. It also had a lot more room in here than some of the other locations available during this date and time, and finally, he was lazy. Much easier to make the students walk out here to HIM rather than drag himself out to the castle. Sorry, ladies. Professor Hernandez was old and his back was hurting. At least it wasn't THAT cold out. It was actually rather pleasant, considering it was December in Scotland! He'd made sure to heat the cabin appropriately, and thankfully there was no snow currently on the grounds. Just a bit of a chill in the air - hence the bad back. Merlin, he was getting old.
He had laid out a tray of biscuits and tea on the coffee table and provided two armchairs for the girls to sit in across from him in his own armchair. He also had a number of pamphlets on the Ministry, St. Mungos, various universities, both muggle and magical - they should find something they liked out of this stack of papers, yes?
The fact that these two particular girls had gotten assigned together was...interesting, and Javier could confidently say that he had absolutely no idea how this conversation was going to go. Now all that was left to do was...sit and wait for them to arrive.

Sophia had not put much thought into preparing for her job fair consultation with Professor Hernandez, but she was only thirteen, so she thought her limited planning for the future could be excused. She had, at least, planned ahead enough to dress appropriately for the weather, and to be on time. Hopefully before Anna, because her older (second) cousin was usually ahead of her on most things. Because she was older, of course.
She knocked cheerfully on the door, once, and then a pause for her to scratch an itch on her nose, and then a second knock. She wondered if Anna had prepared. Sophia knew what classes she liked, and she liked Quidditch, and she knew what, like, her dad and her aunts and siblings had all done after Hogwarts.
Maybe she'd ask about how Professor Hernandez had become...Professor Hernandez. She'd never asked her granddad that question, so maybe she should ask her head of house now.

Sometimes Anna planned ahead...sometimes not. She planned ahead when she remembered to plan ahead and when she was super excited about something. This was not particularly one of those times. Nooooooot because she dreaded speaking to Professor Hernandez, but because the future outside of Hogwarts was literally eons away. It was hard enough for her to stay focused on the in-class assignments ... so thinking about things YEARS away from now was a tiny grain of sand on the beach that was Anna's imagination. So, nope...no planning ahead here and besides pirate cursebreaking princess...she had no real life ambitions.
At least...well, SOME ambitions were super private and maybe she didn't want to share with anyone else just yet.
Bouncing down from the castle, her curls in direct competition to the springy-ness of her feet, Anna was beyond delighted to see Sophia already there.
"Hiiiiiii!" she chirped as she double hopped to a spot beside her. "Did you already knock?" Despite asking this, the Hufflepuffle was already reaching towards the door with both her palms to do just that. Not so much a knock as it was a couple of smacks. She also smelled peculiarly like vinegar.
Again.

Javi had just started pouring a cup of tea when the first knock came, and even though he called out that he would be right there - they evidently hadn't heard him. Because then came another knock. Then what sounded like pounding.
He wasn't exactly surprised.
He finished pouring the cups and hurried over to the door before the girls decided to start breaking it down, pulling it open and smiling at them before stepping aside to allow them to enter. "Hello girls, hope the walk wasn't too brisk for you," he said conversationally as he gestured for them to step inside.
"Have a seat, and feel free to take a cup of tea if you would like," he added. There were fixings on the tray as well, so they could prepare the cup however they liked, should they take him up on his offer.
...why did it smell like vinegar in here all of a sudden?

Greeted first by the smell of vinegar and then by her second cousin, Sophia smiled. "Hi," she said, much more calmly than the older girl. "Hello, Professor Hernandez!" she said, closer to Anna's level of eagerness once the door opened.
"It was a great walk," she said, dropping into one of the seats. No tea for her, she was too interested in her questions. With the confidence added by having Anna there for moral support, she decided she did want to ask Professor Hernandez how he'd gotten to this not-too-little hut on the Hogwarts grounds. "Professor Hernandez, how did you become a professor?" she asked. Hopefully Anna wouldn't mind her asking the questions first, even though Anna was older and probably wiser and closer to, you know, needing a job. She leaved forward in her seat, attentively.

Smiling wide< Anna skipped into Professor Hernandez's hut and did not go immediately for a seat but instead circumnavigated the whole place to take everything in while also hoping to learn something or another about the man through keen observation alone. "Oh it was plenty brisk, professor. I practically sprinted down from the castle...maybe even in record time." Yes, very brisk.
Okay, just one more skip around the hut and then over to the seat provided after Sophia had already kicked things off.
"How come your office is down here on the grounds and not inside the castle like the other faculty?" she asked while picking up a sugar cube and popping it right into her mouth sans any tea. "I've been meaning to ask that since my first year but figured my poor Potions performances warranted more serious use of office hours." Tutoring and making up for what she had not accomplished in class...or cleaning up after an explosion. "Have you always been against the grain, professor?" Again, because his office was not in the castle like the other professors. "Does that have anything to do about you becoming a professor? I mean, some people go into the family business or family career path...but I don't recall seeing any other Hernandezes in the Hogwarts archives or anything so is there a Hernandez family legacy that you went against?"
Because, well, daddy's family legacy of pirate curse-breaker were mighty big shoes to fill but it seemed like the best chance of finding him was to do just that.
