Welcome to your Term Long Assignment duel!
As you step into the Dueling Arena at the pre-assigned time for the duel, you notice that Professor Khanna is already there. They give you a hearty, encouraging smile and wishes you the best, regardless if they are your opponent or not.
Keep in mind that Professor Khanna will only interfere with the flow of the duel only if the duel ends or any foul play or unsportsmanship-like behaviour is displayed.
Please remember to adhere to the DADA rules, SS rules and SS RPG Rules.

It was with nervous butterflies in her stomach that Maria skipped into the dueling arena for her duel. She shot Professor Khanna a wave, and a weak smile as she headed over to her designated spot on the floor to wait for Sailor take up her place opposite her. At least Maria got to duel a girl in her same year, that had to count for something positive even though they weren't super acquainted, but maybe this duel could ammend that?
Pulling out her wand from it's holster Maria smiled happily as called over to her opponent. "I'm ready when you are Sailor, we have to bow first right?"

Sailor Zhang, on the other hand, wasn't nervous about the duel. Mostly because he trusted his own abilities that he wouldn't make a fool of himself, and also because he was here for the experience. It's practical to know how to duel. He'd came prepared, having spent a significant amount of time fixating on his spellwork and ignoring his stack of homework that were likely due in a day or two. (Sorry, not sorry, professors.) They didn't matter when he had more important things to dedicate his time to. Like this duel, clearly, among other pursuits.
Twirling his wand in his hand, Sailor nodded at Professor Khanna first as acknowledgment. "Professor," he greeted. Maria received a nod from Sailor as well, as he made his way to his end of the dueling arena before turning towards his classmate. "Bow. Right." That had been part of the dueling etiquette, not that he'd forgotten. Suppose it just escaped his mind. In real-life applications, competitive duels not included, people don't really bow. It's like asking permission from someone before punching them, for muggles. But sure, for this case, let's go with it. Sailor bent down, a respectful bow for his opponent. "...Good luck, Maria," the Ravenclaw said, almost like an afterthought. He's so proper, you see. They'd walk away at the end of this duel with experience, so it's already quite a win. Actually winning the duel would simply be a bonus and a bragging right.
Sailor glanced one last time at the professor, to see there were any other last minutes instructions. Once they could begin, the fourth year flexed his fingers quickly before firmly gripping his wand. Showtime, so they'd say. "Expelliarmus," he whispered, and a jet of scarlet light erupted from the tip of his wand and made its way towards Maria. Sailor didn't quite trust his non-verbal magic abilities yet, but he was continuously working on it during his spare time, and he wasn't about to give his offense away just yet. He'd like to leave his opponent wondering what spell he'd used, and what's a duel without an attempt to disarm the other?
The Ravenclaw waited to see how Maria would react, also while preparing himself for her retaliation.

"Good Luck Sailor!" Maria echoed as she bowed too as was the etiquette as her opponent took up his stance across from her. It was old fashioned, but she liked it. It created an air of importance to the duel. No matter how this duel ended she'd have gotten some much needed experience from it and a boost for her self-confidence for protecting herself.
Maria gripped her wand as they got the 'okay' to begin and before she knew it Sailor had casted a spell. Quickly she sent up a shield "Protego duo!" she didn't want her wand to fly out of her hand "Ventus duo!" she casted next, watching as a gush of wind erupted from the tip of her wand. and made it's way towards Sailor. Now how would he retaliate?
