| Toothless - Napoleon of Crime - Gryffinclaw - Owl Emissary - Pirate Auror - DoctorDonna Nadia wasn’t quite sure what to expect when she had originally signed up for a spot in the dueling club. Granted she knew she’d be paired up with a fellow student and practicing spells against one another, but after that she supposed it was up for grabs. Being teamed up with someone younger than her meant she likely wasn’t going to be facing anything above her own skill set, but the second year was wondering about using spells above her partner’s. To be fair, the Gryffindor thought of starting off easy, but that still left a large number of options to choose from.
Maybe not so many if one considered what were her stronger spells. “Good luck,” she offered with a polite smile to the other girl. Stepping to the point where she was to start, the second year remembered the etiquette mentioned in the dueling rules, bowing to her opponent. Then as she slowly straightened up, she decided on the spell she was going to begin with, her wand out and raised at the ready. “Locomotor Wibbly!” she carefully pronounced, casting with the wand movement of the Jelly Legs Curse.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Auden Azarolla Ravenclaw First Year | Hiiiiii ! <.< >,> v.v ^,^!
Auden gave Professor Khanna an answering smile as she took her place across from her opponent. Merlin’s fluffy bath loofa was it normal to practically be vibrating with energy before a duel. Aside from when she received her Hogwarts letter this was the most exhilarated she’d ever been. No wait- when she’d first seen Diagon Alley…aaand when she’d gotten her wand…and when she’d seen Hogwarts… Hmmmm never mind then maybe she wasn’t the most exhilarated she’d ever been. But it was up there! ” You too!” she chirped. Making sure she bowed back to the young Gryffindor, the eleven year old tried to get into a good defensive stance. Feet close together, she turned them outwards and inwards a few times experimenting with the distance between them as she tried to remember what little she knew from her DADA classes and reading. Was it knees locked or relaxed?
Her heart beating wildly Auden made herself take a deep readying breath. She was under no illusions about how this duel would go. She didn’t have much of an advantage being just a first year- not height nor age. Although maybe being small could be an advantage if she was quick on her feet. Resolved to try her best and at least lose with gusto, she started transferring her weight from one foot to the other. A moving target would be harder to hit right?
Arm aloft protectively in front of her body, the little Ravenclaw strained her ears. The better to hear the moment the first spell was cast. Loco-
As soon as she heard the first syllable from Nadia’s lips, Auden yelped out the first spell that came to mind.”Salvio Hexia!” Brandishing her wand with the practiced movement from class, she saw a shimmer before her for a split second before she realized her mistake. Oh no it wasn’t a hex!!!
Shifting her weight to the side as she planned to dive out of the way, the girl was dishearten to realize her time management left much to be desired. Not surprisingly, her opponent’s spell still hit her just as it was supposed to.
As her legs began to feel heavy with the jelly like feeling overtaking them, she had half a second to put two and two together and realize she was still in spell casting condition! It was just her lower limbs affected!
Trying not to be distracted by the awful feeling in them that she was sure would result in her collapse in just a moment, Auden hurriedly cast ”Reducio” at the Gryffindor’s shoes even as she purposefully pushed her bottom out so hopefully she’d at least land in a seated position. The charm certainly would not have been her first choice had she had more time to think about it but oh well. The mind, especially one of a panicked first year, works in mysterious ways. Her hope was it’d hit Nadia’s shoes and shrink them a few sizes. Unfortunately for her though, the backwards movement caused her aim to travel a little upwards.
Not sparing her opponent a glance to see what she’d hit or even if she’d hit, (probably something she’d kick herself for later assuming she’d regain control of her limbs) the Ravenclaw concentrated on her plight. Jabbing her jelly legs with the tip of her wand, she cast ”Finite Incantatem” trying to fill her voice with as much conviction and intent as possible so she could maybe try to get up or at least roll aside.

| Toothless - Napoleon of Crime - Gryffinclaw - Owl Emissary - Pirate Auror - DoctorDonna Hearing the defensive spell and seeing the shimmer of the spell seeming to take effect, Nadia thought her spell was going to go nowhere. As in being unsuccessful against the defensive spell meant for protecting areas. She wasn’t thinking of whether it was a hex or not, or what the spell deflected or not, she thought her opponent had won that round. Except the younger girl’s legs had clearly been affected by her spell after the failed attempt to dodge. Well okay then.
And then there was the return spell.
The Gryffindor wasn’t taking any chances trying to move out of the way, especially as the light of the spell went all wonky do to the Ravenclaw’s fall. “Protego!” she cast, grateful when the shield charm appeared to have worked just fine. She certainly hadn’t wanted to find out what would shrink. Pausing just a moment as Auden worked on righting herself from the jinx, Nadia decided on her next course of action, opting for a simple.... “Expelliarmus!” The red light coming from her wand tip and heading in the general direction of the other girl on the other side of the dueling arena.

Auden had just regained control of her legs when she saw the second year lift her wand once more.
Not wanting to make the same mistake twice, this time the young witch played it safe. From her sitting position on the ground, Auden raised her wand again. ”Protego!’ And just in time too because no sooner had she done that than the red light of the disarming spell came fast and furious for her. Eyes wide, the little Ravenclaw saw her shield take the hit….and then sadly fizzle out straight afterwards. Her cheer died in her throat. Well… at least she knew what she needed to practice now.
Knowing she probably only had one chance left to stay in the duel, she tried to concentrate her intent. ”Steleus” she exclaimed as she directed the spell at her opponents nose. Maybe a good old fashioned sneezing fit would distract the other girl for long enough for her to maybe get a stronger shield up.

| Toothless - Napoleon of Crime - Gryffinclaw - Owl Emissary - Pirate Auror - DoctorDonna This time Nadia wasn’t so lucky, and her dueling partner got her shield up in time for it to absord her disarming spell. Oh well, all was fair and it wasn’t like you wanted it to go easy….for either of them.
As for the return spell, she had thought there was a good chance her shield had remained up. So, Nadia hadn’t been quick to react to the sneezing spell sent her way until the Gryffindor registered that maybe it hadn’t been that strong. And then she opted to try and move away from the spell. It might have seemed like her actions had worked until the second year felt a tickle or two in her nose…and then another…before finally… “AcHOO!!”
Nadia bent over slightly, her free hand raised to cover her mouth at the sneeze. “Achoo…achoo!” She fought against the affects of the spell as best she could to try and focus on moving on. To at least manage to end her torment. “Fini---achoo!” That had been a close one. Finally she took a deep breath and struggled against the urge to sneeze, raising her wand to attempt a trip jinx at her opponent, the spell being successfully cast but the sneeze that followed jostled her aim so as she bent over for a fit of sneezing the Gryffindor wasn’t sure of its exact direction.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Auden Azarolla Ravenclaw First Year | <.< >,> v.v ^,^! Scrambling to her feet, Auden thought for sure her spell hadn’t gotten through to Nadia-so when she first heard the telling sudden inhale of breath that indicated the other girl was about to sneeze, she had to resist the urge to give a little shoulder wiggle of giddiness. Her spell had worked! She, a first year with absolutely no experience, knowing diddlysquat about dueling, had actually cast a spell that had in some way, shape or form presumably made it past some form of protection to make her opponent sneeze. It was an accomplishment that was nothing to sneeze at. Pun intended.
The young witch was so busy giggling to herself internally about her punny thought that she missed her opportunity to protect herself like she’d initially wanted. The trip jinx might’ve only hit Auden’s shoulder but it still had the desired effect. Spinning to the left with the momentum of the spell, she tripped sideways. Her arms flailed, hands fumbling to hang on to her wand as she windmilled down. The light clatter of wood on stone floor felt deafening to her ears. She’d lost her first ever duel. For a split second she felt dejected but then she repeated the thought-She’d lost her Firstever duel! Suddenly, it didn’t seem all that bad. Lying there on the stone floor, Auden shook her head ruefully. Oh well at least she’d tried her best.
Scrambling up, she smiled at Nadia and gave the second year a little salute. ”Great dueling Nadia! That was actually really fun!” And she meant it.
