Default The Boathouse

Every 1st September, new first years arrive at Hogwarts via boat, traveling from the outskirts of Hogsmeade, across the lake, and into the boathouse. This structure stands, logically enough, at the edge of the lake, and can be reached via a pathway from the courtyard, consisting of a long and winding stairway down the cliff face. A hidden passageway accessible from the inside of the boathouse leads up through the cliff itself, and emerges onto a patch of lawn which lies in the shadow of the castle.

All of the Hogwarts boats are stored here when not in use. You are free to take them out onto the lake, as long as you have permission from the groundskeeper to do so. Everything you might need for a trip out in the boats is hanging up around the walls, including oars and life jackets. Be sure to put everything back where you found it once you're done with it. Including - and especially - the boats themselves.

She was nosy, she could be the first to admit it. She wasn't sure she'd say she was a GOSSIP but at the same time usual information she had was probably likely to be shared with at least Sia and Maria so... maybe she was. "But why? What does it hurt if people know things about you?" Like... she could tell anyone now her favorite color was orange, she liked it when people told her she was pretty, she was NOT a troll and her siblings and Papa were her favorite people, even if she was usually intentionally mean to Vasco. "But it isn't technically one or the other is it? Like.. even if I know their fears from a Boggart, it doesn't necessarily mean I wouldn't know more from them later. It just saves them having to say that part." Which when there was SO much information to know about a person, didn't that help? "I'll be ready for it, Professor!"

She opened her mouth to reply on exam materials, before deciding perhaps sharing her thoughts on exams and the uselessness of them to a Professor was not in her best interest. Was THAT why people didn't always share information? "Perhaps you're right, Professor." She decided to placate instead of pointing out that if they couldn't retain the information after learning it, had it been USEFUL information or was it just... curriculum requirement they would never need again? She wanted to go into Professional sports after school so... most things seemed unnecessary knowledge wise for her.

Hmm... Well Professor Khanna had certainly given her a lot to think of. And she felt like maybe she should also be discussing with Vesper, considering she was the 'boots on the ground' so to speak for their mission. She should have brought her mirror down with her but.. it was all the way back in Gryffindor tower. Which she supposed meant it was also time for her to take her leave as Professor Khanna pushed off. "Thank you for the advice, Professor. Have fun on your boat ride!" With a beamy smile, she gathered her blanket and book and gave a wave with her free hand before carefully leaving the boat to make her way back to the castle.

Bella was about to reply to Apollo when the boat she was now sitting in began to move from the dock on its own by magic without her bestie being in it. "Why?" she called back. Too late it dawned on her what Apollo was doing as she watched him take a giant leap from the dock, and down into the boat that because of the heavy impact was rocked off kilter and in a matter of seconds they were both thrown into the dark lake water. There had been no time for her to prepare herself for the impact a seventh year boy maked in a small boat. The boat had capsized. When she finally broke the lake surface, spitting out water as she did so Bella called out frantically as she her eyes darted around panic rising mixed with shock. "Apollo? Apollo, where are you?"
He just didn't want her to feel bad about it. But there wasn't time to think more on that subject because apparently jumping into a moving boat was NOT his forte and he should definitely not try this again since his almost six foot height caused the boat to capsize. His feet barely were in the boat for a second before he was treading water? Hearing Bella calling out to him he called out as well... "I'm here... I'm here... On the other side of the boat I think," he said, spotting the boat upside down in the water. "Can you get a hold of the boat?" He called to her, as he swam towards it as well. Obviously they wouldn't be able to flip it back over from their position in the water but if they could just it as a place to grab hold of so they didn't drown, would be perfect.

Treading water Bella kept darting around for a sign of Apollo trying not to panic and think the worst. Her bestie was a good swimmer she reminded herself unless he had been knocked in the head. No, she wasn't going to think like that, it'd only make her more frantic. When she finally heard Apollo's voice from somewhere around the other side of the boat a huge feeling of relief went through her body. Looking up at the boat Bella called back unsurely "I can try, but I don't know what to hold on too." Everything was so far up. "Do you think we can get ourselves back up into the boat?" She called over. They were a ways out in the lake and she was getting a bit cold where she was swimming and doing her best to tread water.

Okay so apparently he was going to have to swim around to her? "I doubt it," he said as he heard her question. "The boat is upside down." Apollo moved through the cold water, his muscles warming with the motion. Swimming around to the other side of the boat where he saw Bella's familiar head on the top of the water. "So I'm thinking ... we use magic to flip the boat back...and then maybe ascendare to ascend one of us out of the water and once one is in the boat, they can help pull the other into the boat." He swam closer to her enough that she could lean on his shoulders. "Do you feel comfortable enough to use your wand?" Which she hopefully had.
