 Ever wonder where your dirty underpants wind up? Just down the corridor, not terribly far from the staircase to the kitchen, the door to the laundry room can be found. What you will find in this room will, likely, not be a surprise. Within are no Muggle washing machines or dryers. Instead, front and centre, are large tubs with accompanying wash boards and sticks. A bizarre system of clothes lines fill the back of the room, beside which tables and large hampers await.
If you happen to wind up here on your House's laundry day, you will see your clothes -- hopefully labelled -- and the clothes of your fellow housemates being washed and dried by a team of house-elves. It is not uncommon to hear them bickering with each other or joining together in a motivational song to help make the job get completed quicker. First the clothes are scrubbed squeaky clean with soap and steaming hot water. They are next hung to dry and then neatly stacked on one of the large tables to be folded and placed back in the hamper to be returned to their owners.
Students are always welcome to be proactive and do their own laundry or at least lend the house-elves a hand. There sure is a lot of laundry to do!

Well... Mouse was not entirely sure today's task wouldn't have been frowned upon, but considering that possibility she had at least been proactive enough to consider bringing her own tub - certainly no where near as expansive as the ones here but more just... the size of a cauldron - in which she currently was adding the clothes dye she'd brought with her for the purpose of today's creative expression. There was a small pile of her clothes as well, just 3 or 4 pieces, lying next to it for once she'd stirred enough.
She probably should have asked permission first, but sometimes it was better to ask forgiveness instead. And she technically would not be using majority of the school's resources, just... the washboards in a little bit.
Glancing into the color concoction, she took a small strip of loose fabric and dipped it in - leaving her hand suspended for a moment before she pulled it back out and peered at the color. "Hm... If I leave something in long enough, I should be able to get the saturation I want." She remarked to herself, placing aside the strip and dropping the first shirt into the purple-y contents.

Cassie was still a bit lost about a lot of things, one being what day was laundry day here at this massive castle. Humming to herself she skipped down the corridor with a basket of cookies she gotten from the house elves. Munching on a chocolate chip cookie she walked in to see she wasn't alone. "Oh I'm sorry, I didn't mean to intrude just forgot what day laundry day was for us Ravenclaws." Although she doubted she cared, after all she was just a first year. "Ooh... dying a shirt purple? How cool it's my favorite color." Looking at the shirt she looked at the older girl curiously tilting her head. "How are you getting it purple? Is it dye like the muggle use?" She was curious, she seen mama dye clothes with tye dye which was wicked awesome. "Ever tries tye dye? It's fun and cool! Oh I'm Cassie if you care to know."

She was fairly certain her wand was not made with the intention of being used to stir a muggle dye in order to mundanely change the color of her clothing and yet... here she was. Doing just that. Hearing a small voice, she glanced up and noticed the younger girl from her house and gave a smile. "No need to be sorry! It's a big room and you aren't disrupting me." As for what day? "I'm not sure of the usual schedule but... I do think I saw some blue robes being hung up over there so maybe today?"
She glanced back at the water, giving another stir as she nodded her head. "Mine too! Well, one of anyways." At the questions, she gave another nod. "Yes! I prefer to do things the muggle way when I can. Side effect of being muggleborn, I suppose." As for tie dye? She certainly lit up at that, because tie dye was also something she loved a whole lot. "I have! It's one of my favorite things to do too. If you can find the right fabric dye anyways." Some just were so washed out - she preferred the vibrant colors to anything else. "There's some space in this tub. Have something you want to change up?" She grinned at the girl, before setting down her wand on the ground and offering a hand. "Pleasure, Cassie. I'm Mouse."
