Headmaster's Office

The Headmaster's office consists of a fairly straightforward, largely unremarkable set-up. Directly across from the door, a large desk and some chairs - one behind the desk for the Headmaster, and two in front of it for visitors. As is the tradition in this office, portraits of past Headmasters and Headmistresses cover the walls. Beneath the portraits, bookshelves. Here you will find, predictably enough, books, as well as the Sorting Hat, prominently displayed on a high shelf.

If you're looking for the Headmaster, there's a chance you'll find him here. Whether you have an appointment or are showing up unannounced, state your intentions to the stone gargoyles and wait. Only the Headmaster and the other Hogwarts staff hold the password to to the office, and the gargoyles won't budge unless they hear it. So hold tight, because attempting to gain entry in any other way will only end badly for you. These gargoyles, they're always watching.

One Ywan Dewey coming your way.

Ewy had gotten information from a fellow upper classman that it was at the Headmaster's office that the Sorting Hat resided. So that's where the curly-haired 1st year Hufflepuff made his way too. The look of awe and curiosity stuck to his face like the purple goop he shot from his wand stuck to the windows of Ollivander's on the 1st day he got it. Passing suits of armor and portraits conversing with each other. He could not imagine that his Papa could have been here at this school before him. Experiencing everything that little Ywan Dewey was experiencing here and now.

As he turned the corner he came face to face with two imposing stone gargoyles. Ones that look as if they could come to life and swallow you whole twice. He did not know going to the Headmaster's office would become such a challenge suddenly. Ewy recoiled in himself his head tucked lightly down and his shoulder tensed as he backed up. Maaaaaybe he could try seeing the Headmaster another time. Maybe he could just find the Headmaster out and about in the School rather than having to come here. Thos stone gargoyles did not seem inviting at all.

The gargoyle remained stationary and stoic as ever, neither menacing nor inviting but simply was. It had learned many faces over the years, centuries, it had been here and there was a certain nostalgia about this new little face hidden beneath a mop of hair.

The gargoyle waited for the boy to speak his purpose but when nothing came, the gargoyle did not presume. Perhaps they had simply come to gawk at their chiseled features that ought not be taken for granite.

Oh No no no. He shouldn't give up so easily. The Hufflepuff Boy sucked in his gut, shook his head vigorously, Then exhaled letting his belly settle back into place and walked back toward the Gargoyle. He looked up at it. A small bead of sweat trickled down his forehead despite his courage he regathered. Nope definitely still intimidating, and why did it feel like he was being watched. Everything about this school felt like it was watching you or more. A ghost could be anywhere, the Portraits were alive, the statues shifted sometimes, there was a ball that actively sought you out to break your bones in that Quidditch Game, and Textbook with teeth that could bite your hand off. Now even stone gargoyles... maybe?
But what was he supposed to do? The Headmaster's Office was here but there was no way to Enter? He reached his hand out toward the Gargoyle then pulled it back rethinking his actions. After just a moment he reached his hand out again and balled it into a fist rappin it against the base of the Gargoyle. "H-hello?" He called out a bit loud to see if perhaps someone might hear him.

It’s a hard rock life for stone gargoyle, harder still for the hand that raps against it. The boy's 'hello' was the soft echo of knuckle against steadfast stone. Stubborn and rather affronted by being treated like a common door, the gargoyle continued to observe the boy and wait for the youth to speak their purpose.

Ewy taped his fist against the stone gargoyle for just another minute after his 'Hello'. definitely unheard, but there was positive to this. the Gargoyle did harm him. As far as a solid stone statue could. What now? No answer? Should he leave then? He was sure his voiced echoed enough that it could be heard. Dejected and in defeat. the plumb little Badger rubbed at his eyes. He wasn't crying. No one was around to see if he was or wasn't but still he wiped away some tears that welled up. So no he wasn't if someone was there to ask if he was. "I just want to see the Headmaster." He spoke up his voice cracking and quietly under his breath still standing before the Stone Gargoyle.

Being made of stone would lead anyone to believe that it too possessed a heart of stone, and you would be correct. Stone heart aside, the mighty gargoyle did feel a tingle of something as the young Hufflepuff crumbled and leaked. Yes, it saw those little wet shimmers. The tingle, as it turned out, was nothing more than a bit of draft coming from one of the open windows in the corridor. Nonetheless, the boy had spoken his purpose at last and the stone gargoyle immediately began to creak as it began its leisurely turn. Stone grinding against stone, the gargoyle continued to slowly spin until a staircase was revealed.

A step by step guide to see the headmaster.

So collect yourself, young one, and away you go. The door to the headmaster's office office will be open and you will likely find the man sitting in his chair in front of the fireplace enjoying a cuppa. Just be sure to knock on the doorframe before you cross the threshold.
