It was a glorious day, it was. Kennedy stood out by the entrance waiting for students to arrive. The day was amazing for flying. The sun was on its way up in the sky, there was no cloud insight. It was the perfect weather for the lesson he had in mind.
Checking his watch he waved his wand, the entrance door to the pitch swinging open. Beyond the door, in their usual group meet up spot where cushions were spread about, lay a brown chest. It was wrapped in chains and a small buzzing sound could be heard emitting from it.
What was this man up to again?
Wait and find out! In the meantime get warming up.
OOC: Welcome to Flying lesson! Make sure to freshen up on SSRPG Rules. The IC month is March, so by now the students have had many, many flying lessons. See you all in a bit! <3

SPOILER!!: mini activity catchup
As Desiree listened to the activity instructions, her thoughts immediately turned to the egg activity from last term. She remembered that one required a lot of one-handed steering, so she wasn’t too worried about this activity. If she did it before, she could surely do it again, right? And compared to the egg activity, this one sounded like a piece of cake!
She retrieved a school broom and took off at a leisurely pace. About a quarter of the way around the pitch, she took her left hand off the broom handle. Usually she preferred to do things with her left hand, but she figured that if she ever needed to cast spells while flying, she’d need her dominant hand for her wand. Probably best to practice while recreating the conditions as realistically as possible.
Steering with only her right hand took some getting used to, but she eventually managed to complete a full lap around the pitch, For her second lap, she decided to try going a bit faster and maybe try throwing in a few zig-zags here and there.
Desiree was halfway through her second lap when Professor Escalante said freeze. She hovered in place, watching with an intrigued expression as the chest burst open and lots of golden snitches flew out. Ooh, so she was right about the chest containing quidditch equipment… sort of.
Okay, so she was supposed to try to freeze the snitches That sounded pretty straightforward and fun too! She liked practicing spells, and she liked flying. Doing both at the same time should combine the fun, right?
At the word GO, Desiree took off. Steering with her right hand, she drew her wand with her left so she’d have it ready when the time came to cast. Her steering was a little awkward at first, but she steadied the broom once she had her wand out. Seeing a group of snitches ahead, she aimed her wand and cast, “Immobulus!” Darn, missed! Let’s try that again…
She continued on her way around the pitch until she saw something gold out of the corner of her eye, Slowing down as she approached, she pointed her wand at the snitch. “Immobulus!” she cast, watching with bated breath to see if it worked that time. The snitch froze, and she smiled as she watched it go tumbling toward the ground. “Here’s another one!” she called to the younger students.

Brandon shook his head quietly. No help needed........ well, he kind of did need help but he wanted to be able to help himself. And he didn't want to professor to think that he couldn't do things himself. Because he could. He hoped...
A loud CRACK split the air, and Brandon was more than a little shaken at the sudden noise. He tried to regain his composure as he listened to what the professor was saying about snitches and things... what were they doing? Freezing them? No, no, they were supposed to be... levitating them? He figured he could do that.
Watching the others at first, he flew a bit lower than them just in case they would go too fast and hit him. Plus, this allowed him to see falling snitches better. see? There was one!!! "Wingardium Leviosa," he said happily, levitating it back to the chest with ease (it was right next to him).
He flew further away for the next one, which was falling under Jude. "Wingardium Leviosa," he said again, taking a hand off his broom to cast the spell. So he had the snitch... but the chest wasn't at all close to him. And he had to fly one handed alllllll the way back! Mustering up his confidence, he flew over with as little shaking as he could. Concentrating on both his broom and his spell was hard, but concentration was easy for Brandon. It was the flying that was hard. Once he'd dropped the snitch into the chest without falling off his broom, he breathed a little sigh of relief.
Both hands on his broom again, he looked for a third snitch.

Brandon clearly was on top of his game. Jude flashed him a thumbs up, momentarily letting go of the broomstick. The result was him veering slightly into one direction. Woops! The broom was righted. There would be no shenanigans on his part during this activity! Directing his attention back to the pitch, another Snitch was located. This time though? This time there was a student nearby.
Jude guided the broom closer, wand steadily aimed at the Snitch. His eyes flitted from the Snitch to his classmate. The Snitch wasn't making things exciting because it was constantly zooming from side to side. Fortunately, it seemed to be moving in a pattern. Left, right, left again... His wand moved with it until...
“Immobulus!”
Cue another frozen Snitch a split second later!
In the process, the other student had not been hit by any light streak from his spell.
He might be one man, but from the viewpoint Kennedy stationed himself, he could take note of the students. He noted how they were all working with caution and focus, something he was proud to see. They were really putting the things they learned to play.
A group of golden snitches caught his attention. He could have easily cast wandlessly and non-verbally--his preferred method--but instead he raised his wand, “Immobulus!” Several pairs of wings stopped fluttering and plummeted to the ground.
“Keep up the great work,” he announced, then checked his watch. They had a few more minutes left.
Bella listened to the other students answers wondering when they'd be allowed to fly up into the air when Prof Escalante poised the next series of questions. After some thinking she raised up her hand to answer. "One scenario that might require spell casting while flying might be if you are being chased, and you need to protect yourself against an attacker or if you're lost and need help to navigate back to safety." Bella had a feeling that her answer probably wasn't what Prof Escalante expected but that was what came to mind.
Some minutes later they were allowed to leave the ground and practice flying one-handedly in the air. Bella flew up in the air with her peers and immediatly felt that flying with just hand on the handle of her broom made her flight much more rocky, and it was harder to steer the way she wanted, even if she used her thighs to guard her brooms movements. At one point her hand slipped, and it was a bit scary for a moment since she then was on a collision course with another student, but she managed to grab on again and steer away to avoid a collision. Bella flew a little way from her peers then to regain her breath, and slow down her pulse that had risen quite a bit at the possibility of a collision luckily it never came to that. When she felt okay again Bella flew a few laps around the pitch changing which hand she had on her broom to see if either one was better.
Bella hadn't come to a which hand was better conclusion when Prof Escalante announced the next activity. They were going to be freezing snitches and the young years were going to be levitating the frozen snitches back into the chest. Unholstering her wand she placed in her right hand, to steer he broom with her left as she flew off after a snitch casting "Immobulus!" Watching the frozen snitch fall towards the ground near another student's head she called out with blushed features "Watch out! Sorry!" A bit too late she realized that maybe she should check that someone wasn't closeby when she freezed the snitch so that she didn't hit someone by accident. Oops! Luckily no harm no foul.

Desiree couldn’t help but feel a bit pleased with herself for hitting the snitch, but there wasn’t time to dwell on her success. There were still plenty of snitches in the air and only a few minutes left in the activity! She took off at a steady pace, keeping an eye out for more snitches, but she was distracted as she heard another student (Bella) call out. She swerved to the right just in time to avoid the falling snitch.
With that minor interruption (quite literally) out of the way, she continued on her way around the pitch until she spotted something gold out of the corner of her eye. Slowing down slightly as she approached, she saw a group of snitches hovering just to her left. She drew her wand and, looking around to make sure there were no other students in her line of fire, she cast, “Immobulus!”
Her spell hit two snitches that time, and she watched with satisfaction as they dropped. “Two more snitches coming!” she called out to the younger students.

Jude certainly hoped that the younger students could keep up with all the frozen Snitches because the older students were on a roll! Even if there seemed to be a slight mishap between Bella and Desiree, things were going smoothly. This Hufflepuff was being more confident in using one hand to cling to the broomstick. It was exactly the sort of happy, accomplished feeling he felt when he mastered a particularly challenging dance move, or a complicated music piece on the piano.
In no time Jude had sought out another target to give chase to. This Snitch was giving him quite the workout though: it kept zigzagging. Luckily, he was always up for a challenge. “Immobulus!” It was a complete miss. “Immobulus!” Miss. Darn it! This Snitch was FAST! “Immobulus!” Aha! "Gotcha!'' The spell had hit the on of the wings but hey, it was a win for the Snitch was frozen and waiting to be levitated!
Things were going well. There was Bella’s mishap but she corrected herself instantly. Desiree reacted quickly as well, which made him smile. They were using the techniques they learned in class. Their reaction times were also quicker than before. Then there was Jude, who was freezing snitch left and right.
Taking another lap around the pitch, Kennedy mentally noted a few things here and there. His watch’s alarm went off, signaling it was time to pack up.
He blew his whistle. “Alright, time to land. Great job, everyone!”
Gracefully landing by the chest, he set his broom down and then wandlessly summoned the golden snitches back to the chest. A flurry of wings zoomed back into their wooden home, the top closed when the last one made it inside.
“I saw amazing problem-solving skills,” Kennedy said after the students touched down. “As well as focus, and actively using the tools you’ve been learning. We will keep practicing casting in the air in future lessons. If any of you are interested in practicing flying one-handed, I’ll have extra hours on Wednesdy and Saturday. As for now, you’re set to go. Have a great day.”
OOC: Hellooooo! Thank you all for joining me. I hope you enjoyed it. I'll be closing this thread in a few hours. <3
