Located at the top of a spiral staircase and just to the left are the Gryffindor boys' dormitories. Rooms are assigned according to year, and each door is marked with a wooden plaque.

Each room is home to several cozy four poster beds with gold sheets and pillows and a bright red velvet covering. There are matching red silk curtains that can be drawn to give the occupants a bit of privacy. Each bed has its own nightstand, and, in keeping with the Gryffindor element of fire, the rooms are lit with magical flames in fireproof, shatterproof jars.

Please remember that this is the boys dorm. In other words: NO GIRLS ALLOWED! But just in case anyone gets any ideas, the rooms are charmed to emit a loud siren to immediately alert the Head of House.

What was Freddie doing currently? Why he was working on his bed with decorating it to his usual standards. Extra sheets hanging from the top of the bedpost frame, giving it the appearance of a tent. But it was meant to be a Fortress for top secret stuff.

Humming a tune from one of his old radios that wasn't on at the moment, he used the usual charms to keep it afloat. "There!" Now he could flop back on the bed. Making his scrolls of parchment and diagrams temporarily fly up and off the bed. But he didn't feel like getting up just yet. He spent a good amount of time uninterrupted working on this.

You know...he was not even going to question it. He was not.

More more reasons than he too had been known to construct blanket forts in the dorms. Atlas was kind of a professional when it came to construction thanks to his vested interest in tinkering and such. Deconstructing things to see how they worked was often the best way to do thing...although there was not always a guarantee that he could put it back together again. That was when he usually upcycled.

Coming back from the library with a couple of books to help him with his Ancient Runes essay, he pulled his cap off his head and flung it towards the bed like a frisbee with a heavy disenchanted sigh. No offense to the Medieval Futhark but...it was a big no thank you. Finding a piece to translate was just another thing to tack on to his list of indecision and the worst part about the whole assignment was that he had to translate a couple of lines to see if the passage was of any interest to keep on translating. It was called working harder and not smarter in the name of procrastination.

"...you know...the bed curtains do that for you already..."

Apparently he was going to question it as well as be a hypocrite about it.

..the bed......for you.....

Freddie could only partially make out what was being said outside the multiple layers of curtains and blankets surrounding the bed. The most important factor of the fortress was having it sound proof, but just enough to where he could hear who would be outside. Although it wasn't fool-proof in this case.

Freddie recognized the voice though which promptly had him sitting up to poke his head out of the closed blankets, "Sorry, did you say something?" His comically suspended head being the only visible part of him sticking out to look at Atlas with a bunch of books.

"Hey, what d'you have there?" He asked. Squinting for a moment, "And where's your hat?" Did he forget about stealing it again? No way! But hopefully no one else had taken it off of him. Perhaps if he could angle his head a certain way he'd be able to see where it landed. But here he was.

Selective hearing, Freddie. Watch yourself.

If Atlas had not done the whole levitating head trick numerous times with the Invisibility Cloak he shared with Remy he would have found the whole scene at least modestly comical. However, in the moment the blonde was more perplexed and intrigued as to what he was doing with his soft architectural design.

"I said...never mind. Inconsequential observation," he replied with a shake of the head and a hand through his hair.

"Oh...uh...research for that translation assignment in Ancient Runes." Which he would get back to later since he had already exhausted himself with impractical effort for the past couple of hours. Atlas simply pointed to his bed where the cap lay at a lazy angle leaned up against his pillow. Actually...that was going to bother him...so he quickly shuffled over to the head of the bed and adjusted the cap so it lay even across the top of his pillow. The books he had been holding were now deposited on his bedside table and his bag dropped to the floor...which he then nudged with his foot so it sat more perpendicular to the floor and up against the side of his bed. "Tossed it on my bed as soon as I got into the room...you didn't see because you were all cooped up in that fortress of yours." There was a pause as Atlas surveyed the scene up and down again. "What...are you doing though," he followed up with an inquiring arched brow. "An...elaborate study stronghold for NEWT prep?" That question was almost rhetorical - he was quite confident it was nothing of the sort given that borderline endearing grin Freddie wore.

Freddie's suspended-looking head blinked equivocally at Atlas who seemed to have said something of interest that he wanted to take back. But enough on that, he was shaking his head at him which took Freddie effort to not reach out and help him with the shaking.

"Really? Do you need some help?" Though he probably shouldn't volunteer, having only achieved an A on his O.W.L's he'd be supplying guess work at this idea. "Maybe not," Shaking his own head. Oh, so the hat was around. Good, good. Why Freddie had this fascination with the hat was anyone's guess. But as for the mention of the fortress.

If his smile could get any wider, one would imagine they were Alice in Wonderland. "Would you like to see?" Who wouldn't want to join in? It was exclusive after all.

Could the floating head not?

There was some witty quip about how Freddie might make Nearly Headless Nick jealous, but it was lost on him presently. Just a little tongue tied and exhausted from his entirely unproductive afternoon.

"Think I'm good anyway but...er...thanks," the seventh year shrugged in response to the offer. "I'll figure it out eventually." Or just drop the subject since it was still early and he could do that. He had attempted to overload his schedule as a means of keeping himself busy, so it was not a class he necessarily had to shoulder to achieve his goals. Maybe that was why he was having a hard time with the assignment, the casual apathy that revolved around it. Go figure.

Again, could the floating head not? Busing his gaze with the covers of his books for a few moments, the blonde tried to swiftly push away the reminder that blanket forts and fortresses had been his and Aries' thing. He needed to remember their correspondence and how, well, anyway. He just needed to not hold himself back just because he had gotten good at doing so. "...this isn't some elaborate ploy to try and start a tickle fight with me again, is it?" Because Atlas had also gotten quite good at avoiding those too.

They were...problematic. Yes. Problematic.

A tickle fight..

"Oh no, I just have some secret plans to show you....." Freddie said thoughtfully looking up before adding, "But now that you mentioned a tickle fight, that could be squeezed in as well if you really want it to," He had just a brilliant friend for reminding him on fun past times. Well, the last fight did end a bit awkwardly but they did get over it... supposedly. Ahem. Not thinking about that moment made it easier to sound convincing enough.

"We're still partners, right?" They had an elaborate Muggle Studies project that could last beyond if things go well. "It beats joining the rest of the class interning who knows where,"

Apollo had just been coming in from his typical evening routine of broom flight around the grounds ~~debating of course continuing the flight right into the dorm instead of using the staircases which is something he would definitely do before he graduates~~. He walked in just in time to hear Freddie mention something about partners. Being the nosy ~~and often self conscious kid~~ that he was, he plopped down on his own bed, before looking between the two guys.

"Partners for what?" and was there room to make it a trio if he didn't land a spot on professional quidditch? Because he might partake in some business idea.

It was almost a mantra at this point...only that may be an insult to the essence of what a mantra was. Maybe catchphrase was better. It was a catchphrase between them: could he not?

Atlas attempted to clear his throat, his fist moved to his mouth as though covering a cough when the actuality was that he was hoping to mute some of the heat he could feel pooling in his cheeks. Yeah, he did NOT need reminded and it was an experience that lived rent free in his thoughts. Thanks. "...pretty sure...regardless...you won't be able to help yourself..." he mumbled, a hand running through his hair starting from the back of his neck and then to the front and then ruffling and fluffing his hair just so he could keep his hands out of his pockets for a little bit longer.

Resolved and sort of just giving in to...whatever this vibe was, Atlas pivoted away from his bed and took a long stride towards Freddie's. Which...wasn't so much of a long stride considering their beds were right next to each other. Atlas thought that the concepts of Feng Shui and geomancy were bogus, but he was also blaming them almost exclusively for the THING that was settling in...especially this term.

"Yeah...obviously," he nodded. They had already put in too many hours discussing the trajectory of their project and sketching out various design elements to drop everything now. As much as he would reluctantly admit it, Freddie was probably one of the only if not the only person he would trust with the mechanics and workload. "A pro---"

And then it was like his entire body were a balloon that had had the air sucked from it, minus the sound. The rigidness of his chest that fought to contain the fluttering within deflated and his eyes seemed to be ready to jump from his face. Struggling to recompose himself, internally, Atlas practically jumped back from Freddie's bed like he had just stepped barefoot on hot coals. Coals that he had just willingly tried to step on barefoot wondering just HOW hot they could possibly be - pretty darn hot, apparently. His head snapped around and, for a moment, he wasn't sure if what he felt seeing Apollo there was agitation, relief, or some muddy combination of them both. "...for a Muggle Studies assignment," he stammered after a couple of shallow breaths. "We've been working on it since the second week of school."

As for long term, Atlas was not yet thinking that far. His sights were still set on the immediate. Thinking about the future was too complicated and overwhelming. So was the present, particularly THIS present, but anyway.

What usually compelled the hair ruffling of Atlas? Naturally, Atlas would know this but in Freddie's mind it made him wonder. Did he think his hair didn't look good enough? Did he need help with the ruffling? Rather than ask, his natural instinct was unlike the obvious tactic. Instead he would choose to reach out and ruffle it himself to fix whatever Atlas didn't or couldn't do. Buddies did that sort of thing, right? If Freddie was able to hear the mumbling of 'you won't be able to help yourself' he'd tell him that he was right. How could he resist helping his friend?

Before he could reach out a hand as Atlas approached closer to him, a familiar voice came into the picture. Freddie turned to the curious Apollo just as Atlas apparently jumped back, "Hey Apollo," Turning his suspended looking head in the direction with his smile remaining. He did give Atlas a quick glance for perhaps permission to tell what he could tell? "Yes, we are. A special project that we've been cooking up a while," Well, Atlas did already say it so he should probably add something different to the explanation. "Did you start on yours yet or are you doing the interning?" Or flip it back, whatever works.

Perhaps he should have waited just a little longer before returning to the dorm, considering Atlas reaction. Muggle Studies assignment? He stared blankly between the two of them, thinking he probably should know more about it. Or have thought about his own assignment.

When Freddie clarified and added that it was actually a 'special project for awhile', he gave Freddie a quizzical look. "I haven't started yet. I didn't know that people actually started on these things right away." Would it be too much to inquire more details about their project? Then again, admitting to not starting on something when others had was maybe considered cheating? But it would only be cheating if he stole their idea, wouldn't it? And Apollo had no plans to do that. Just if the idea extended beyond Hogwarts and they were interested in a third business partner, was where his interest lied.

"So you've had the idea before Feirgrund issued the assignment then." Just gauging from Freddie's comment. Which would also maybe make sense why they already started on it.

Again, the catchphrase of the moment: could Freddie not?

His insides squirming up a storm and suddenly feeling as though he would rather be anywhere but here (or maybe just returning to his bed instead of hovering her in between his own and Freddie's would be enough), Atlas found himself loosening his tie even more than it already was until the knot hung well below the third button or so on his shirt. "Professor Feirgrund just so happens to have a syllabus that compliments my particular skillset and interests," he elaborated, really REALLY needed Freddie to stop acting like an eager cruppy in the moment and stop the premature tail wagging. "Freddie has been supplying me with spare parts and old pieces of mechanical equipment that no longer work for a couple of terms now, for my creatures and other projects...." Projects like the dandelion light from the school dance. "...and in return I teach him a thing or two." Tinkering 101, really. Expanding to actual metal charming had been a more recent development now that he was of-age and could stop being petty about not being able to practice at home too.

Antonia may have had a point in him starting a young inventor's club. Surely he could get Professor Feirgrund to sign off on it easily...but also...effort. So much effort and he preferred to keep his work one-on-one if not working alone.
