If you want to be the last to leave or want to hang with the more rowdy crowd, then the back passenger cars of the train are for you. Just like the other cars, a long corridor provides access to the many compartments, each labelled with a letter, available for you and your friends to hunker down in until the train has come to a complete stop. Cushioned seats and large windows, allowing perfect views of the British scenery on your journey, await.
Well, what are you waiting for? Slide open a compartment door and make yourself at home. Place any of your belongings not in the luggage car on the racks above you. Chat with your friends about what you did this summer, enjoy munching on the snacks you bought from the trolley lady, get ahead of the game by reading your textbooks, or take a long nap as the train travels over numerous hills and mountainsides. Whatever you do, exhibit your best behaviour -- the prefects will be regularly patrolling the corridors and poking their heads inside your compartment to make sure you are doing so.
Maria was about to ask what Kion thought about Gryffindor when he changed the topic to electives and Hogsmeade and she replied enthusiastically almost bouncing on her seat. "Yes I am! I wish you could take all the electives, but I'm settling for COMC, Runes and Muggle Studies. What electives are you going to take?" She opened her mouth to say something more when she was distracted by the opening of the compartment door as it let in a younger girl. A first year if Maria had to guess. After a quick look over at Kion she smiled welcomingly to the other girl. "Hi, of course you can! It's nice to meet you Hope. I'm Maria, third year." She introduced herself and then gestured kindly to the vacant seat beside her. "Want to sit here or beside the window?"

If it wasn't her smoothing her waves away from her ears that got him smiling, it was her giggling at his lion imitation. His thick eyebrows rose at some of the classes she mentioned, "Oh, I was thinking about CoMC well! We might in the same classes then," As for his other choice, "I was thinking of Divination or Ancient Runes but it depends on what my schedule can fit... so how come Muggle Studies?" He was curious and maybe, just maybe he would be tempted to join it too.
Kion's head turned at the sound of tHe compartment door opening, where he saw a younger girl. Probably a first year, "Hello Hope," He didn't mind the company, with Maria already extending the invitation he nodded in agreement, "and I'm Kion, also a third year. Is this your first year here?" He figured to know before possibly confusing someone on house names if they didn't know them already.
Hope felt a little overwhelmed with these older students all talking to her at once, but at least they seemed friendly. She slid into the empty space Maria had indicated beside her and tried to stow her carpetbag beneath her seat as quietly as possible. Their discussion, though, was intriguing to her--so many subjects for electives! Were they supposed to add that many when they got older? Hope feared she wouldn't be able to keep up. But that Care of Magical Creatures class sounded really exciting!
"Yes, this is my first year at Hogwarts--and in Britain, too. I'm from America, but I've been mostly homeschooled. I have an aunt and uncle here who wanted me to come stay with them and go to Hogwarts like most of the rest of the family, so here I am." It was a lot of new things to be getting along with all at once, but Hope knew she wouldn't have felt any more at home if she'd gone to Ilvermorney--so far, she hadn't seen much of anything outside her home village.

Looking at Kion just made her want to smile and keep on smiling. It was something about him or was it what he said that made her happy? Unsure and ignoring the flutters in her stomach Maria beamed "Then we can be in the same class in both CoMC and Ancient Runes if you decide to take it and it fits with your schedule. I'd like that. It'd be fun." Mulling over Kions question it took a few minutes in silence before Maria answered. "We live next to muggles so knowing how they live and whats important to them could be useful to know. But really I don't know if I'll take it or if I can. It seems potentially more fun than Arithmancy at least." Numbers had never interested her so that was out of the question from the start.
Turning her attention to Hope she smiled at the firstie "Well welcome to England! The english traditions I hope won't be so overwhelming. We do love our teaaaaaaaa times though." Drinking tea was something Maria enjoyed. "Do you know how the sorting works, and so on?" she wondered curiously. If Hope's grandparents had gone to Hogwarts then she assumed the younger girl was well informed about how things worked at Hogwarts.

There were still many places he had yet to explore. Plus, since the little encounter that had happened at Madam Malkin's, he was curious if there actually was a veela tapestry somewhere.
He was mentally making a list of possible places such a thing could be while he wandered up and down the long corridors. It gave him something to do besides just sit in a compartment the entire ride or go back to haggle with the trolley lady for some more sweets. Plus he had to work up an appetite for the feast.
Casting a brief glance in the compartment windows as he passed, the blond found himself pausing outside of one. Inside was the one and only Sable Armstrong, who was doing whatever she was doing in a notebook and munching on a cookie. The latter in particular is what prompted him to slide open the door, uninvited.
"Sup, Sabertooth?" Logan asked as he made himself right at home. "I hope you have enough cookies to share."
Ideas rather slipped through the blonde’s head like water if she didn’t find some way to make note of them, hence why Sable Ileana had adopted the use of the notebook. Besides, it wasn’t as if anyone could read it, which was her intention. Spy stuff, pirate stuff, it all went hand in hand as far as she was concerned. Pirate queens didn’t reveal all their secrets. It was all training for the inevitable future, as far as the thirteen-year-old was concerned. Especially since she’d lost her mimicking ability, she had to find other ways.
She’d rather expected to be joined by Vera at some point during the train ride, but it appeared other powers were in control. At least, it was an entirely different person who came into sight as she’d lifted brown eyes from the notebook. “Nothing”, she responded, rather involuntarily, even as she’d craned her neck to look behind him.
Huh. “All alone?” She’d begun to think Vasco and Logan were a package deal. Minus the fact Vera’s brother wasn’t a Gryffindor like the rest of them. Plus, she’d pretty much let the nickname slip past her unnoticed. Something to consider later on.
