The large freshwater lake of Hogwarts is located just south of the castle. About half a mile wide in diameter, the lake dominates much of the school's landscape, a steely and ominous mass of icy water in the winter, yet an inviting and refreshing sight once the weather starts to heat up. On one of its banks, a towering beech tree stands sentinel, and is a popular location to meet and relax. Castle-side of the lake stands the boathouse.

You may swim in the lake, but be careful, and also mindful of the creatures that reside here. Merpeople, grindylows, and the Great Squid, to name but a few, call these watery depths their home. You would do well to leave them in peace. If they feel like it, they'll come to you; the Giant Squid, who goes by the name of Bartholomew Henry, has been known to bask in the shallows on sunny days.

A smirk spread on John’s face, ”Deal.” Why didn’t she say that sooner? One less task for him. Hehe.

”Relatable.” Johnny nodded. He too channeled hurt and anger in destructive ways, though none that he could think recently. Thinking of the best analogy he paused to gather his thoughts before opening his mouth.”In Quidditch do you give up after self-destructing after a poor match? You’re brutal in the sport and you’ve had many accomplishments and disappointments as well but life is like a game. You keep playing until you win, you lose, shake it off and get up again.” Makes sense, right? ”Don’t let a bad experience mark you, don’t give the person who turned you down the satisfaction of keeping you in that dark place.” He meant every word, but what does he actually know? He’s never experienced a relationship that actually mattered to him.

John grinned at her and chuckled, Serena was evidently whipped for Jasper. ”I’m biased because he is my teammate but also if he dares hurt you I’m knocking him off his broom.” Period. ”He’s a cool lad, just tell him.” He nodded in full support. Of course he felt protective of his cousin but he wasn’t the stereotypical overprotective and overbearing relative. Whatever Serena decides, John is in full support and will stand by her no matter what. Including knocking heads should it be required.

You’re growing into a wiser young lady. Olivia and Charlie are both lucky to have you.” Jude eyed Keighley. “Um… I don’t know either of them well, but I think Olivia might be the one who will need you the most; it might be more difficult for her to adjust.” Don’t ask him how he knew; being an empath he sometimes picked up clearly on how others were feeling. “I’ll be here to talk about anything if you need to.” There was a pause. “Oh. And Rea.”

Jude didn't have to worry about that because if there was one thing Keighley was currently okay with, it was balancing her time. Sorta. For the most part. Okay, well she was still working this out but she thought she was doing really well, all things considered. She attended all of her lessons, all of her assignments were being completed and she was still spending time with family, friends, Olivia and mirror calling Charlie. She had this all figured out...

The younger Hufflepuff couldn't help but laugh along when she heard Jude's laughter. Simple moments like this were the best. "Sorry.. I didn't mean to make you miss him more by bringing him up." She crinkled up her nose a little, sighing softly. "Sometimes I wonder if having the mirrors now made it easier or even harder because I do get to actually see him and hear his voice.." Did that sound strange? It was wonderful seeing him and talking to him but it made her miss those few short days that Char was around during the summer. Either way was surely difficult though and she had to consider herself lucky as she at least had Olivia here with her.

There was no possible way she would've been able to not come clean about everything. And Keigh knew that Jude of all people would understand which was one of the main reasons she had no trouble talking to him about this. "Something.. tells me that you might be right. I just hope that she can really give me the chance to explain and time to show her that what I'm saying is the truth." None of it was going to be easy, this much she knew. "Thanks, Jude. I have a feeling I'm going to be bugging you a lot this year." So he should get himself ready for a lot of late night chats in the common room.

Jude would be SO proud of his baby sister for figuring all the things out. He knew how incredibly difficult that could be. At least she had one more year before things got hectic in the form of OWLs; by then Keigh would have been able to be a pro at balancing her time. The older Puff couldn’t agree more! Their moments together were everything! “That’s okay!” Jude missed the boyfriend on a regular basis anyway. But this wasn’t about himself; it was about Keighley. Aww, just look at her being super cute with her nose like that! He tapped her nose twice just for the fun of it. “That makes sense. I think it’s both easy and difficult. Easy since you get to see them, but difficult because you can’t hold their hand, for example.'' Yep, Jude understood fully! At least Keigh still got to see Charlie; he didn’t even have that privilege. But he was not about to or will never think of his situation harder to handle than hers was. These were both challenging situations they were in.

The sixth year playfully kicked water at Keighley. The Lake really felt good at this time of year. “If she really likes you, she’ll make the effort to hear you and to let you show her. If not… well, that would be her loss. But for your sake, I hope it all works out for you.” Like Charlie, Keigh's happiness mattered the most to him. Jude laughed again. “Yeah? I’ll start charging you for my expert advice then!’’ Teasing! Only teasing!

Keighley would agree that so far this year she was doing rather well with juggling her time. That was the thing though, she didn't have OWLs, next year she would and things would be hectic for her but somehow she would manage it. Most things would get pushed onto the back burner so she could mainly study but her relationships would everyone wouldn't be allowed to suffer. She would always make time for those. The nose tap made her giggle and she grinned at her brother. "I miss that. Holding his hand." Something so simply was what she missed the most right now. She knew Jude would understand but she didn't want to focus too much on it, it wasn't fair when he couldn't even mirror call Davet.

"Hey!" Keighley laughed happily. This really was great. "She says she really does so I guess it's up to me now." It was on her to prove that she could handle this. That she wasn't putting either Liv or Charlie above the other and they were each getting her time and attention. No one hoped more than her that it worked out. "I'll repay you with lots of hugs and snacks." Cue the most adorable little sister grin ever! Love you, big brother!

If there was another thing that Jude knew best about Keigh, it was that she valued her relationships. It was how he knew she would find enough time for both Charlie and Olivia, not to mention everyone else she valued in his life - which included him. Huh. Now that this fact really sunk in, he felt so much better about them not losing out on their time together. Someone remind him why he had been so worried in the first place? “Before you know it, you’ll be able to again,’’ Jude remarked with the air of someone who knew all the secrets of the world. Naturally he didn’t but he wanted to believe something good would happen for his sister.

“Hey, yourself!’’ Laughing, the sixth year splashed more water at her. It was so much fun! Then there was more advice coming to mind which he just wanted to share because he wanted Keigh to be armed with whatever knowledge to help her with these two new relationships. “Make sure it’s not one sided, that you’re not the one constantly proving that you want things to work with you and Olivia. Relationships with others were important. Family and friends. Keeping them all strong wasn't always easy when one was a busy person but she always did everything she could to ensure those around her knew how much she cared. "It just seems so far away right now." She knew the months would go by quickly when she was focused on her lessons and everything but it was still difficult. All she could hope for was that she got to see Char during the holidays.

"Juuuuuuuude!" Keighley squealed, as the cool water splashed her. There was no way he was getting away with that, even if she had been the one who had started it. Giggling she splashed water back at him. The game was on now! Keigh frowned slightly at this bit of advice, unsure if she would be able to pay attention to if Liv wasn't giving their relationship as much as she was. "I'll try.. but it's Liv, Jude. I don't think she'd let me give my all and not give anything back." He didn't see how broken Liv had been when she had told her about Charlie. And then when she had told Char about Liv. It had been a mess. So many tears. Hers. Both of them were so much stronger than she was. "Always! I knew you couldn't say no to a hug from me!" Done and done!

She knew it! Cause she was his favorite! <3

Luther walked around the lake until he found a spot far from others. He didn't want to potentially hurt anyone. After ensuring he was alone, he closed his eyes and took a deep breath.

And then he let go.

He felt an electrifying feeling flow in his arms. Through his closed eyelids, he could still see the light coming from his outstretched hands. He pushed more and more of his magic into his hands.

The more he pushed, the brighter his hands glowed.

The brighter his hands glowed, the more Luther pushed.

Until he could not push anymore.

Breathing in and out as if he was suffocated, Luther collapsed on his knees as the glowing in his hands dimmed. The cold of December tried to seep into his body but the exhilaration of what he had just done easily overcame it. With a proud smile, Luther sat back, untied his hair and started playing with the ribbon while changing the brightness of the glow of his hands.

Jude symapthised with Keigh and Charlie. He really did. He knew that his and Dav’s situation wasn’t exactly the same but it did allow him to understand just what his sister was going through. Plus, he did understand the nature of counting down the days until he saw someone again. “It does,” Jude agreed. “For your sake, I hope it goes by quickly though!” And maybe for his sake too?

“Whaaaaaat?!” Jude was innocent here! Or at least he and Keigh were even because she was now splashing him back, making water get all over him. He shook his head wildly like a soaked doggo, sending water all around. The older Puff processed Keigh’s words before nodding. “You know her a lot better than I do, and I trust your judgment.” He was only looking out for Keigh because he didn't want her to go through any sort of heartbreak. Keighley really understood what Jude was going through in his own relationship with Davet now that she was going through something very similar. The only difference was she was able to mirror call Charlie whenever she liked but she couldn't see him whenever she liked when they were home. Jude always understood though, even if it wasn't something they had in common. "And for yours too! I know how much you miss, Davet." They were too close to not know how the other felt. Words weren't even needed in these situations now.

"You know what!" she giggled, grinning widely at him. Oh, my, gosh! Her big brother looked so silly shaking his head around like a pupper like he did and it only made her laugh even more. "I'm glad someone does cause sometimes I'm not even sure I trust my own judgement lately.. the things I'm trying to workout and what I'm asking of both Livvy and Char.. and I expecting too much?" Was she asking for heartbreak to come calling? They all were only young teenagers after all.

Umm.. no one?! Not to worry, Jude. She wouldn't say a thing! His secret was always safe with her! <3

Jude smiled warmly at his baby sister {who wasn’t a baby anymore but he would always see her that way} at her words. Yes, he too hoped that time would go by quickly but at the same time he hoped that it wouldn’t? Sure, he had the ice skating dates and other stuff that he and Davet did to look forward to but he couldn’t forget to live in the moment. He needed to enjoy the present with the people who were around him. Like he currently was with Keigh. “For the time being, you’re stuck with me!’’ Jude remarked, wiggling his eyebrows at the same time. Not that she minded, right?!

Nope! This guy didn’t know what! Oh? Was Keigh laughing at him? Was he getting water on her? This only fueled Jude to shake his head a little wilder. When he was done, his dark hair was ridiculously wild - as though he had only just gotten out of bed. There was no attempt on his part to fix the strands. But he did understand what Keigh was getting at. There was a moment of silence from him as he considered her question. “Yes…” he began slowly. “Because being with both of them at the same time can be challenging for all three of you.” Jude was being honest in his thoughts. “I know you want it to work out but what if one of them can’t stand the complexity of it all?” The boy would seriously hate to see Keighley getting hurt.

So much had happened. She had her first date, first kiss, and now was trying to be a wingman for two friends. Fifth year was going well even with OWS looming over her head. She was going to ace them… Kai had assured her of this. So the birthday girl had decided to take a stroll in between study sessions. With her hands stuffed into her pocket, she arrived at the Lake and picked up a stone to skip it.

The day was still odd without a Serena, V, Remy, and her hangout.

Serena tried to ignore it, but the moment they entered January, her brain made sure to remind her how many days were left for Lisa's birthday. She tried to ignore what kind of gifts Lisa would enjoy. Did she even like the things she did a year ago? It felt weird. Not knowing Lisa's favorite things.

What was worse was that her dad has forbidden her to interact with former best friend. It was detrimental to her training. Their relationship had distracted Serena from fully concentrating on what should be important to her. The things was...her priorities had changed.

UGH.

Who cares?! She almost didn't make it back to Hogwarts. She'll deal with the consequences when and if they came.

Serena had asked a few Ravenclaws about Lisa and the pointed her this way. Her first option had been to have someone else deliver the gift, but since she was already breaking the rules, might as well go all out.

Spotting the raven-haired girl, Serena quietly approached her, pink box in hand. "Did the squid wish you a happy birthday yet?"

Serena tried to keep her gaze on the lake, but again, they had a mind of their own. She noticed Lisa's eyes and frowned. "Hey," she said, her voice gentle, "I can leave if you don't want my company." If her presence was that terrible that it brought tears to Lisa's eyes, then Serena wouldn't force it.

This baby sister didn't mind at all being considered as such. It is what she was after all. The baby of the family! Like Jude, Keigh always did her best to live in the moment and enjoy life to the very fullest but sometimes it was a little bit difficult when she was looking forward to something. "You say that like it's such a bad thing," she laughed smiling up at him. He did know that she enjoyed spending as much of her time with him as she possibly could, right?

He wasn't afraid to enjoy himself whenever they were together. So even Jude thought she was asking to much of Liv and Char. What was she going to do if he was right? "Then.. I guess I'll have to make a choice..." And there lay the dilemma in it all. She couldn't do that. Just the thought of it made her want to stand there and cry.

Now that she said it aloud it sounded mean, but she hadn't meant it to be. "I should probably apologize when I get the chance," she added.

Ready to leave, but not because she wished to, Serena stopped mid-retreating step. Lisa didn't want her to leave. She actually wanted her to stay? Relief settled over her tired heart. "Okay," she nodded, standing beside the Ravenclaw. "It's been...interesting lately," she said in a form of agreement. "Thanks for, uhm, holding my hand that one day. I was really freaked out." Her cheeks dusted with pink, whether from the cold winter chill the lake gave off, or her admission to Lisa, who knew.

A genuine chuckle escaped her lips as she shook her head, wiping the former tears away. “Classic Barty,” she muttered as she wrung her hands. “This studying business is a lot… I can’t wait until OWLS are over…” She was terrified. “Daniel, V, and I are in a study group. Nothing like intentionally trying to third wheel a situation, y’know?” She knew V liked him.. Daniel was aloof… like a cat.

“Of course… I was freaked out too. I can’t imagine you disappearing even with all that happened last year… I was still panicked… I can’t imagine life without you.” Even if she had wanted to at one stage… She didn’t want Serena missing from her life for she knew her life would be less fulfilled without her.

The tears. They gutted Serena, but she just went along with whatever mood this was. It was nice just talking with Lisa and hanging out. Serena missed that a lot. "I'm excited for OWLs," she said, a small smile dancing on her lips. She was in her own study group with V and Stuart. Johnathan on occasion when she could get him to sit still for half an hour. "I feel like I've been preparing for them since I started Hogwarts, so it'll be nice to get them over with and move onto more advanced things." Like NEWTs.

"Likewise. You still live in my mind." Serena tapped a finger on her temple. It sounded weird, but it was the best way to describe what it was. She often thought about Lisa...even when she was forbidden to. "Oh!" She almost forgot about the box she held behind her back. Bringing it forward, she presented it to Lisa. "Birthday gift." It was a humble assemble of macaroons. They were straight from the bakery in France. Best macaroons in the world.

The sixth year laughed. “Nope! And you know it, Keighley Morgan Anders!” A finger reached out to do that all too familiar action - a boop on Keigh’s nose. There was another laugh from him. Goodness! Being around her always brought out his extra happy side. And when he was down, she was the greatest comfort in the world. There were no words nor any amount of gesture of appreciation that could ever match how much he loved her.

“Uh huh, that’s me, Keeeeeeigh!” Merlin! They were doing a lot of laughing! This backed up his point about him being even happier when he was in her company. Then the baby sister was looking as though she wanted to cry and Jude felt sad immediately. He reached out to put his arms around her. “I hope it doesn’t come to that. Heartbreak… it’s devastating. But we’ll cross that bridge together if it comes to that, right?” Because Jude would be there for her like she had been there for him.

The tears were fading… thankfully.

She tilted her head to the side. Serena was one of the few that were excited for the OWLS examinations. “Really?” she asked curiously. “Im excited and terrified.” She missed Daniel’s presence because he continuously checked in on her…. In his own way. “I suppose so… I think it’ll be nice to be done with them.”

Lisa’s eyebrows arched at Serena’s comment. She lived in her mind? She blinked but chose to dismiss it. Her mind, however, kept running with it. “Flattered? I am,” she commented before looking at her hands. She glanced up, however, when Serena mentioned a gift for her. “For me? Oh wow. Thank you.”

"I will happily take being stuck with you for all time, Ryder Jude Anders," Keigh responded with a wide grin. Laughter no doubt followed as she was lightly 'booped' on the nose and she made a move to playful nip at Jude's offending finger but completely and purposely missed him. The way that they were with each other was nothing short of 'The Cutest Siblings Ever'. Words could never do justice to how she felt about him or any of her family for that matter.

"Juuuuuuuude!" She repeated this time in her sing-song manner accompanied by even more laughter. There was always something about being in her big brothers presence that helped her no matter how she was feeling. Like now. Even as the tears had suddenly pooled in the corner of her eyes, the very instant Jude's arms were around her and she heard his words of comfort.. It was as if a blanket of comfort had washed over her. With her own arms wrapped around him in a hug and her head resting on his shoulder for a brief moment, the blonde gave a nod. "It's going to be okay. I'll have to figure out a way to make sure that it is." She could do this. There wasn't anything that she couldn't do when she put her mind to it. Only this was very very different. This was matters of the heart. And not only her own.

“It’s settled then!’’ Somehow, this had actually been settled a long time ago when Keighley had begun spending more time with him; from last year when he had been hung up on his emotions. Yet they somehow they always found ways to reassure each other that neither of their intentions to hang out nonstop had fallen away into nothingness. Jude was grateful for this because sometimes, reassurances went a long way. “Missed!’’ he exclaimed with a laugh, though he suspected Keigh had done so on purpose.

The male Hufflepuff would be rather pleased to know Keigh thought that way. It was the least he could do, keeping her this happy, after all she had done for him. If anyone ever deserved to constantly be happy, it was his ball of sunshine sister. It was why Jude hated to see Keigh like this. “Of course! You’re going to manage this, don’t worry. At least don’t worry TOO much? Promise you’ll come to me if it gets too overwhelming.” Then Jude smiled at her. “How about we go grab some snacks? I dunno why but I feel like having marshmallows.” Yes, guys got cravings too, okay? Besides, a snack might cheer the sister up!

"Obviously! Sometimes you make it seem like there's a choice in the matter," she laughed jokingly but at the same time there was a tiny hint of truth to her words. Keighley knew there was a strong bond between the two of them that couldn't be broken. "I know I did! Do you want me to really bite you? Because I can!" No, she wouldn't. Jude would have to do something to really upset her to make her do that and she doubted that would ever happen.

Did she not tell him this before? Will have to make sure she does, a lot. Um, not only her but he deserved it too. Her big brother was the sweetest guy she ever met and he deserved everything. "I'll try not to and you know I will." He'll be the first one she'll come running to when she needs a shoulder to cry on or when she needed someone to talk to. Snacks? Marshmallows? Keighley smiled at Jude and nodded. "Can we make hot cocoa? Like mum makes?" He mentioned marshmallows and that's the first thing that came to her mind. Now she was have cravings! See what you did, Jude!

Jude laughed his signature soft laugh. “And you remind me there is no choice every time!” He loved Keighley for that! Not to mention how stubborn she remained on the matter of them hanging out often. There was another laugh from him, this time a little louder because it was heartier due to the question and comment. “I’d prefer you not to, my little vampire!’’ Honestly… she was the cutest!

The sixth year was satisfied with the answer; there was enough trust between them to share whatever it was that was bothering them. It wasn’t just about sharing the happy moments when it came to these two Anders! “Of course! Whatever you want. Besides, I know EXACTLY how mum makes it.” Jude held out his hand for Keigh to take. “To the Kitchen then! The elves will be happy to see us.” After they both got out of the Lake and dried off a bit, yeah?
