For those who belong in Ravenclaw House, in the middle of the Great Hall is where your table awaits. Blue banners containing an embroidered bronze eagle float above the polished table in honour of the wise Rowena Ravenclaw. Already placed on the tables are silver plates with accompanying cutlery and goblets. All that is missing right now are the mountains of food and pitchers containing your favourite beverages.
Though your stomach might be growing as you take a seat on one of the long benches next to the table, it is important to not get hangry -- gnawing your arm away or jabbing your fork repeatedly on the surface of the table will do no good whatsoever. Give everyone some time to get settled in and wait for Headmaster Kazmi to deliver his speech. Keep yourself preoccupied by catching up with your fellow housemates until it is time to sink your teeth into the hearty and delicious meal prepared by the house-elves.

After an uneventful train ride and quiet ride in the thestral-pulled carriages, Raj was ready to be back at Hogwarts. The sixth year might not be amongst the overly loud, excitable crowd, but he had to admit he did miss the familiar castle a bit. Even moreso than just because of the familiar COMC professor. Making his way through the Great Hall doors through those catching up with friends, he headed straight to the house table he had first moved to six years before, his gaze shifting around the large room for familiar faces both within the student population and the staff table as he sat down.
Ravenclaw!
She was a Ravenclaw! She had been so nervous when the sorting hat was on her head, she'd felt that her tummy was participating in the Olympics. After about an HOUR (it was just a minute although Tahani felt like it was an hour), the hat had decided on Ravenclaw. She was over the moon with happiness. This was going to be her home, for the next seven years! And Ravenclaw was going to be her house.
Amidst applause from her fellow 'claws, she came and sat down at the table. Raj was there, she waved him a hi.

Raj didn't always pay that much attention to the sorting ceremony, but as the familiar form of his traveling companion had been led up to the stool it had gotten his interest. His curiosity was peaked as the girl faced the Sorting Hat, wondering where her own curiosity made known on the train would put her. When the announcement of Ravenclaw went up, the sixth year clapped along with his housemates, returning her wave as she joined the table.
Start of term, and Evan was feeling nostalgic as he took a seat at the Ravenclaw table. Today had been a day full of the last of the firsts, which was such an odd thing to even be lamenting about and yet... he couldn't help it. Such a myriad of emotions he had felt throughout the years he'd been a student here. There had been so much excitement his first year, and things just.. progressively went downhill for a few terms. It was only recently he'd started to like this place again, to be able to consider this home and to not resent this entire aspect of his life anymore.
It was a welcome change.
Pulling himself from his thoughts, Evan made sure to clap for the new little Ravenclaw (Tahani) as she made her way to the table, offering her a small smile. "Congratulations and welcome." Had he really been that small? Turning his attention towards Raj as well, Evan inclined his head in his direction as a greeting. "Good summer?" It was the most boring of ways to greet someone, but... a conversationalist he still was not.
A quick glance towards all the other tables, shooting waves towards his Gryffindor friends, a smile towards his best friend at the Hufflepuff table, and just a quick glance to make sure his now sixth year sister, which was just as unbelievable as being in his NEWT year, was there and settled as well. He couldn't spot her from his current spot, so he instead focused back on the table and his fellow house mates.

Having a summer job did wonders to Lisa’s confidence. She had bounced back from where she was the prior term and was ready as determined to win at OWLS. Well if winning was a thing. She supposed she’d define winning as balancing studying for OWLs as well as having a fun year. She was determined not to spend endless hours in the library studying - only the hours that were necessary. After all, she needed to spend time with her eldest brother at Hogwarts.
Speaking of her older brother, Lisa had taken a seat next to her brother and nudged him gently. “Hey. Lolly?” she offered, extending his favourite sherbet lolly because she had a feeling he may have needed it. She couldn’t imagine what he must have been feeling at this precise moment.
“Hey Raj! What’s new? Any tips for OWLS?” she asked with a grin before turning her attention to see the newest Ravenclaw joining them. Oh hey!!! She looked SUPER FAMILIAR! It was one of her customers from Florean’s who took her up on her guessing game.
“Hey! Nice to see you here. Welcome to Ravenclaw. I’m Lisa!” she beamed.

The benches of the hall were starting to fill up with both new and returning students and Ravenclaw Table was no different. Raj simply people watched for the time being, clapping for any new Ravenclaws to join Tahani. And then there was a not so new student in the form of the 7th year who nodded at him.
"For the most part..." he answered Evan with his own nod. "What about you?" Had to be something to think on the fact that this was the last year to be heading to Hogwarts, your home for the majority of the last 6 years.

Ah and there was Evan's sister. The nudge and playful banter familiar with his own siblings and one of the things that made him grateful that there were more years between him and the twins. Next year would be soon enough to share the school thank you. "Hey..." he greeted her simply in return before thinking on her question. What sort of information was she looking for?
"Um...try to narrow down subjects to focus on," the sixth year offered. He might be a studious bookworm, but trying to do all the studying on ALL the subjects would have wound up burning his brain out long before the exams.
Tahani smiled at everyone as she sat down. So many friendly people.
'Hey Raj, thank you! Nice to see you here!,' she said, with the biggest grin on her face.
She looked up as an older boy (Evan) greeted her. Man, all these people were TALL.. 'Thanks, I'm Tahani! So excited to be here!,' she said.
She also smiled at the senior girl (Lisa)who greeted her. She looked familiar. Had Tahani seen her somewhere? 'Heyy hii Lisa, I'm Tahani! Nice to meet you!,'
All these friendly people made her feel at ease and a little less anxious about Hogwarts. She hadn't met anyone from her year though. She waited for more young little firstie claws, eagerly waiting for the sorting to be over.

Her train ride had been more eventual than others, namely because of a curious run in with an older boy who clearly had been haunted by a certain entity. She could have helped to alleviate his torment, but he had never asked her to. Perhaps some other time. For now, Mitsuki required additional salt in her pockets and perhaps an additional charm or two seeing as her stomach had begun to turn unsettled and just this morning she had felt quite disinclined to leave her bed. But she had, of course, and it had been a quiet pleasure to once again accompany Mercer and Milo in a compartment on the way to Hogwarts. At least for a good portion of time.
Pistachio not in her pocket this time, the third year instead doing as she was instructed to and leaving it in its small cage along with her trunk to be taken up to the common room, she arrived as silently as always and took a seat upon the bench while others around her struck up lively conversation. Not one to insert herself, her calm eyes simply washed over the scene of Lisa being exuberant as always while feeling a certain pang at seeing her engage with Evan. Sometimes her thoughts drifted to wondering what it would be like to attend Hogwarts with her older brothers, specifically Michael who had elected to proceed with his schooling in America since Eiji had long since graduated from this place. There was a certain longing there, she supposed, but it was a rift that had been satisfied by the friendships she had languorously formed thus far. Two of which, in preparation for their arrival, she sprinkled a bit of salt on the bench on either side of her so that all immediate options for Mercer and Milo were safe. There was a certain...ambiance in the air at Hogwarts this term, something infectious, one she could not quite put her finger on but that she was certain would require copious amounts of salt.
Her eyes drifted to Raj for a brief moment, admiring his chin and cheeks, before drifting to the newly sorted Ravenclaws and offering...not exactly a smile, but a gentle acknowledgement that was meant to be an gesture of greeting. Welcome to Ravenclaw, little eaglette.

He knew he ought to wait until tomorrow morning at this point since he had not met his deadline of completing repairs on the train (he partly blamed his brother and partly blamed Freddie for the moderate inefficiency), but it felt like it was going to burn a hole in his pocket the longer he held on to it. Hence the reason for the sixth year's quick dipped over to the Ravenclaw table. His steps heavy with confusion and hurt, Atlas slipped his hand into his pocket and coiled his fingers are the little charm bracelet (now with is fastener repaired and enhanced with a bit of metal charming for additional stability. He had been tempted to take the liberty and add an additional charm to it, a sea otter, but Lisa's adamant words of 'he deserved better than her' rang entirely too loudly in his ears. Thus, well, that little charm he had crafted would just stay in his scrap box until future projects required its use.
Spotting Evan first, Atlas knew that Lisa would be right next to him and therefore that made his task easier to accomplish. Running his hand through his hair (and missing his backwards baseball cap but apparently SOMEONE thought his hair needed to breathe and a whole bunch of other rubbish) to fluff it just a bit, Atlas pulled his hand from his pocket and hoped his sweaty palms did not dissolve the tissue paper he had wrapped the bracelet up in - it still not quiiiiiite hitting him that they had effectively stolen this from the vendor just as it had not hit him that he and Freddie had not only modestly vandalized Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes...but also ripped it off (the very items tucked safely away in his trunk next to his shared Invisibility Cloak with Remy).
"Hey...Lisa?" he greeted while stumbling over his words a little and extending the little wrapped square of tissue paper to her. "Just stopping by to return this to you. It took longer than expected...but...I've fortified it now so...shouldn't break again any time soon...and certainly not so easily."

When you’re stuck in a moment and your spark has been stolen .................................................. ........... this is our time to own it, so own it..................................... baby we were born withfire and gold in our eyes
Walking into the great hall, her hair in a mermaid braid down her back, Ingrid Luck had finally arrived at Hogwarts for her last year at Hogwarts! Not any time, the seventh year quickly strode over to the Ravenclaw table, only sparing a moment to cast a glance over at the Gryffindor table for her brother who, obviously, hadn’t arrived yet because he couldn’t do anything on time. Taking a seat opposite, Evan and Lisa, Ingrid quicky flashed them greeting smile at the both of them first and then gave a smile towards Raj who was sitting a little further away. She even flashed a smile at the younger Gryffindor Atlas who for some reason had ventured over to their table.
“Hey Evan…Lisa…How was your summer?” It blew her mind that both her and Evan would be graduating this year. It only seemed like yesterday that they were both first years coming to Hogwarts for the first time! And how would Lisa feel knowing her brother was leaving and she’d still have a few years left? Her twin was leaving the same time as her and they were the youngest and last Luck’s to leave Hogwarts!
It took Ingrid a moment or two to notice that there were first years on the table but she eventually greeted them and welcomed them to Ravenclaw. “Welcome to Ravenclaw Tahani, I’m Ingrid.” She didn’t feel the need to convince them that they’d love Ravenclaw or that this would be an amazing home for the next six years of their life because she already knew that that was an absolute.
Ash wasn’t much of a talker today. She just had a lot on her mind. Arriving later than most to the great hall, she sat by Evan(and Lisa). ”Good summers, everyone? Ready for your last, or first, or whatever in-between year of Hogwarts?” She offered all the people nearby exactly one smile, then quietly rested her head on the table.
Turning his head feeling the nudge in his side he spotted his sister and took the sweet from her hand, giving her a smile before unwrapping it to pop it into his mouth. "Thanks." He was never one to turn down sugar - pretty much ever. "Good train ride?" He'd left his sisters pretty early to go and find their seats while he'd gone off in search of a compartment or any of his friends. Attention turned back to Raj at the returned question and answer. "Do anything fun?" He considered for a moment on his answer, before his smile widened a bit and he nodded. "It was actually great, thanks for inquiring."
Being tall still always felt like a new thing for him, with his now 6'2" frame. There were still a lot of people even taller than him, including some of the younger males, but that wasn't something that irked him. It was an interesting feeling though looking at the first year and trying to remember too when he had been that little. Seven years suddenly felt so long. "You'll like it here." He responded back to Tahini, smiling still at her enthusiasm. "Professor Carton is our Head of House, and he's fantastic." He nodded up towards the staff table towards the Transfiguration Professor. Evan would have lunched into more tidbits but... he was distracted by the arrival of Mitsuki. He wasn't sure if he'd ever engaged with the young girl, but he certainly found her and her year mates intriguing. "Hello, Mitsuki. Glad to be back?" He.. wasn't entirely certain what that salt thing was, but figured better to not ask and just assume it was a normal thing for them.
Besides, his attention was otherwise drawn as Atlas Flamsteed approaching their table and... offering something to his sister? He fought to keep his eyebrow from raising, and reminded himself that he'd literally just told Chalcedony at the end of last term that he needed to start butting out of his sister's personal lives and yet... easier said than done. He didn't think Atlas was part of her woes from the term previous, but after seeing where Lisa had been the term before (and how much better she was now), he still had difficulty with not having the slivers of suspicion.
But again. He was minding his own business. Not your problem, Evan.
Ingrid and Ash's arrivals were welcome distractions and he focused his attention on them solely, pasting his smile back on his face as he greeted both his year mates. "Hey Ingrid, it was good. We went to Korea for a family wedding." And despite his hesitation at having had to stand up with the groom, the ceremony had been short and beautiful and Evan was actually pretty happy for Chin-hae at the end of the day. Mycelia was decent, if not for the fact at least her attitude was more reserved like his own rather than the rambunctiousness of so many of the Nam and Nam adjacents. "How was yours? What was the highlight?" His smile remained warm for Ashley as well, but a hint of concern crept in as she laid her head down on the table following her greeting. He tapped her leg gently under the table, attempting discretion. "Everything okay?"

Lisa offered a warm smile to her brother who was now, weirdly, a foot taller than her. “I gotta start putting bricks at the side of your bed. I’ll ask Sammy to help with that,” she teased him once again. His question gave her pause before nodding. “Mhmm. I spent time with Ash and met a few others.” She kept one of the exciting events to herself because she was afraid that if she spoke it aloud, it would vanish and be all but a dream. She was trying to keep her excitement within her. “And you?”
Now that she had mentioned Ash, she wondered where she was… ah! Yes. She saw her approaching.
Lisa listened to Raj’s few words of wisdom and would keep them in her mind. She always valued wisdom and advice from older students. “Thanks Raj. Narrow down the subjects…” she repeated before reaching into her pocket to pull out a tiny notebook to write that down.
“Nice to meet you too.. well again! Thanks for playing the ice cream guessing game at Florean’s… that was fun!” she said to Tahani before listening to her brother’s wisdom that he offered her. She remained calm and nodded in agreement with him. Speaking of housemates, she saw Mitsuki watching her and Evan. Lisa nodded to Mitsuki when she made eye contact with her fellow housemate. “How… was your summer?” she asked, hoping her voice would carry over the continuous chatter of the table.
“Ingrid, hey!” she greeted before becoming quieter when she let her brother do most of the responding. “It was so beautiful!!” The wedding and Korea too. She was happy for Chin-hae. She thought he deserved the best. “Was your summer good?” She couldnt believe that like Ev and Ash that Ingrid would be graduating too. All the seventh years who had so much knowledge would be abandoning them for their next adventure…
Then she saw Ash. Her smile widened at the greeting and then dropped promptly when she saw her friend rest her head on the table. She cast a look to her brother, hoping that he’d see it and do something. “I’m planning on surviving OWLS.”
The next voice gave her pause… Atlas. “Hey At!” She turned herself away from the bench to face him with a wide smile but then she noticed that he looked upset and sad. Her smile faltered at his expression as she glanced down to the gift he extended her. “Oh the bracelet… Thank you so much… You’re a genius…I… thank you.” Lisa opened up the wrapping to peak at the bracelet. It was stunning. She couldn’t even tell that it had received damage of any sorts. She could rest easy now that the bracelet was intact. Now all she had to do was return it… Wait. And then it hit her what she and Atlas had committed together. Seeing him like this did throw her through a loop. Worry crossed her face. “Are you okay? Sherbet lemon?” she offered the candy to him with eyes wide with concern. She didn’t notice that her hand was shaking.
She turned her gaze momentarily to the Hufflepuff Table when she saw something flicker out of the corner of her eye. What was going on there?
astronomizzle ♧ gryffinDORK | & the rest is drag ♣ #badluckDerf
The hustle and bustle continued as one of her housemates cawed at the other and, for the most part, Mitsuki continued to observe things. There was a certain flutter with the appearance of Ashley Fox, but it was a flutter laced with a certain disappointment that the third year would rather not reflect upon further. There was merely a small twitch of the lips to reciprocate the smile before her eyes fell upon other happenings and the Nam unit posing questions of mandatory pleasantries. "Not particularly," she responded to the older Nam. She was neither glad nor sad about being back here at Hogwarts and was a pleasant and comfortable neutral about it. Last term had left her feeling disappointed as her expectations that there would be a poltergeist infestation or at very least a more meaningful haunting had been dispersed by the reveal that it had all been the word of a sphinx. Her eyes drifted to the younger name, the question causing her to pause for a moment to consider just how her summer had been. Productive came to mind, though it was not the most accurate of descriptors to use for the accomplishments she had achieved in her performance calligraphy. It had also been concerning, her sister absolutely beside herself in the absence of her boyfriend who was among those held captive in Atlantis, and despite seeking some sort of guidance from both Mercer and Perseus, Mitsuki had been unable to find a temporary solution to an on-going problem. "I am not sure," she answered honestly after careful consideration.
She did attempt a slightly broader smile to the new first year, but her attention was soon caught by the arrival of Peeves over at the Hufflepuff table as he boisterously inquired who wanted to play a game. Alas, she had only spent all of last year yearning and following clues around Hogwarts with Aiden, Mercer, and Rhett (individually) in the pursuit of such an opportunity only to find herself denied once again now.
Hufflepuffs were so lucky. Perhaps she needed to find herself a porcelain teapot and chip it just so.

SO...maybe this was a bad move. He could feel eyes on him all scattered about the Ravenclaw table - and everyone knew that eagles had really GOOD eyesight - but it was entirely too late for backtracking now. He did, however, offer the new little Ravenclaw a quick back and forth of his hand, a swivel at the wrist really, and little toothy smile that bordered on a smirk before feeling the BURN from the gaze of one Evan Nam.
Did Evan...know things? Did he know what Remy had told him (him being Atlas) as fact? Did any of it even really matter considering...well...anyway. Whatever.
There was a subconscious flinch at the 'At' calling from Lisa and her mystifying enthusiasm. For a moment, he thought that she had almost forgotten about the whole incident - which, at this point, would NOT surprise him and he released the breath he had not realized he had been holding until she took it from him. "I mean..." he began, straightening a bit and rubbing the back of his neck with the back of his hand while shrugging his shoulders simultaneously. "No lies detected there."
...yeah...nice molehill he was turning into a mountain over here.
The moment of ego stroking aside (and he DID take great pride in his metallurgy and metal charming efforts), the Gryffindor slipped his hands into his pockets again and rocked back on his feet. Thankfully the set of metal match sticks from Nemesis were still in there so he could keep his fingers occupied and his mind sharp.
"Nah, thanks, I'm good," he replied with a shake of the head at the offering of confectionary. "Was just keen to get this to you. I should bounce to my house table before the headmaster..." Who seemed to have just entered the Great Hall and was now over at the Slytherin table. "...does his thing." His head turned a bit, back to the newly Sorted and offered a bit more of a smile this time. "Welcome to Hogwarts," he spoke with a completely unnecessary wink. "Have a good rest of your start-of-term feast...all...everyone...see you around..."
And with that sloppy farewell to the Ravenclaw table in general, Atlas pivoted and began to head back to the Gryffindor table when he spotted Peeves and...well...it was a reminder that the sixth year really needed to make sure that his stash of stolen collected fireworks was stored safely and maybe not just in a box under his bed back in the dormitory.

After the Sorting Hat declared her a Ravenclaw, Tasha hurried over to her new table. Her cheeks had taken on a slight flush from the applause she had received. Once she took a seat, she looked around at her fellow housemates, recognizing a few faces - though she didn't personally know any of them....yet.
Tahani smiled at Lisa and the cute seventh year Gryffindor boy. Ooh, there was some tension there, she wondered what. Of course it wasn't her place. 'Thanks Lisa! Which year are you?,' she asked.
She nodded as the elder Ravenclaw boy welcomed her to Hogwarts. 'Thanks! What subject does he teach?,' she asked.
She saw a girl of her age walk towards the table
(Tasha). Ooh a firstie. She was happy to see a fellow first year. Time to make a new friend? 'Hi, I'm Tahani,' she said.
Tasha looked over when she was addressed and smiled at the girl who had been sorted before her. "Hello, I'm Tasha. It's nice to meet you." She glanced around the Great Hall, trying to take it all in. "It's wonderful to finally be here."
Tahani was pleased to meet someone her age and frankly her size as well. It was slightly intimidating to be looking up at all the students she had been introduced to so far. Having a fellow firstie friend would be nice.
'Hi Tasha! So good to meet you!,' she said with the widest grin. Was it good to be here? So far, so good. 'Yeah I suppose it's been wonderful so far,' she said, not meaning just Hogwarts but the Wizarding World in its entirety as well.
Ingrid couldn’t help but smile at the incoming first year and their enthusiasm. It was really wholesome and almost contagious in a way. “It’s really nice to meet you too Tahani.”. She’d have to keep her eye on that one and make sure she was okay.
Turning her attention back to her fellow seventh year (Evan) and his younger sister (Lisa), she replied “Wow! How was it? That sounds so amazing! Do either of you have any photos? I’d love to see some of the dresses that people wore,” because no event was never not a learning experience for this Ravenclaw. Her love for fashion from around the world knew no bounds.
“Mine? Oh, I think maybe just working,” she replied earnestly to both of the Nam’s now. Not nearly as much fun as his answer but she needed to make some money to pay for university. “I was working at a fashion house in London so I stayed with my brother and his girlfriend there. It was pretty fun for work.”
Although his cousin saw him off on the Hogwarts Express, Phoenix was already missing Benjee's presence. He had known since the end of last term that the older Marchbanks would be finishing out his education at home, but he couldn't help to be disappointed all the same when it became reality. He really liked having him here last year to show him the ropes and just generally hang out with, even if he knew he shouldn't rely on him too much. He did have his own friends, including new ones he had made last year, but he still had hoped that Benjee might change his mind.
He didn't see any of his yearmates yet as he sat at the table, his focus mostly on the sorting ceremony. It was hard to believe it was a whole year ago that he was in the same place being sorted into Ravenclaw. He mustered up as much enthusiasm as possible when a new Ravenclaw was declared, applauding and cheering appropriately to welcome them over to the table.
Phoenix certainly did not mean to be antisocial, even if he remained quiet for the most part - besides his acknowledgement of the newest Ravenclaws. He was perfectly happy to talk to anyone there, just as he was perfectly happy to remain quiet, but he did not always know how to interject himself into others' conversation, especially when they were so busy talking about summers and hopes for the new term. Instead he turned his attention to Peeves at the Hufflepuff table a moment, watching curiously before the poltergeist was chased away. "I wonder what made him choose to go to the Hufflepuff table," he mused aloud to no one in particular. Was it random luck of chance or something else?
But he didn't dwell on it for long as the Headmaster began his speech and the second year's attention was drawn that way. Nothing too new there, but it did signal the appearance of food, something that Phoenix was currently rather eager for. He was very hungry after the train ride.

Lisa felt something weird in her tummy when Atlas refused the candy. Well he had refused it once before when she had offered it to him so maybe that wasn’t it. “Um.. okay…” she responded with sad eyes, oblivious to how he perceived their last conversation. Maybe he was acting this way because of Remy? If he were too close to her, then he’d naturally be in trouble. “Thanks again…” she said as she held the bracelet in her hands and looked up to him to offer a smile. Her heart dropped as she watched him walk away. It was strange, she gathered, that she felt this way after he left…
It wasn’t until Tahani spoke again that she realized she had been watching him. “Oh, sorry, I’m a fifth year.” After that, she turned her attention back to the Gryffindor table just in time to notice a friend running off. Maybe she’d been wrong with Atlas and Remy finally being an item… She pouted. A new student (Tasha) had joined them. “welcome to Ravenclaw! I’m Lisa.”
Ingrid spoke up and asked for photos. “i have TONS of photos. I can show you when we’re back in the dorm! The bride’s dress was… too die for. So BEAUTIFUL!!” Mycelia had looked like a princess. Ingrid’s job sounded so much cooler than hers. “A fashion house??? Wow! Did you get to design things?” She was still fiddling with her bracelet before she slipped it on. Maybe the action would make her feel less strange?
It didn’t.
She turned her attention to what Phoenix had said. Yeah the Hufflepuff table was rowdy with Peeves. She hoped Jasper, Jude, Haven, and Daniel were all okay… “They were too happy?” she ventured a lame guess on this one as she as preoccupied with the bracelet.
