Upon entering this large classroom, it is very obvious what its purpose is. This room is dedicated to teaching Muggle and Wizard Music and is used by members of both the Frog Choir and Orchestra. Instrument cases of all shapes and sizes as well as rows of music stands with accompanying stools fill the inside of this room. In the front, a conductor's stand is positioned in between a polished black piano and a complete drum set.
For many at Hogwarts, students and adults alike, this is one of their favourite places inside the castle. At various hours throughout the day, wonderful music is made and you get to take a break from anything overly theoretical and hone your musical talents. Fortunately for those in Transfiguration or in other parts of the castle, your marvelous melodies cannot disturb them for the room is completely soundproof. So play as loud as you want! This space can also be reserved after scheduled class hours if you and your friends have formed a band and need somewhere appropriate to practice.
Luther creaked open the door and peeked inside. The cases, the gorgeous black piano and the stand. But there was no one. With a relieved sigh, Luther entered the room and checked if he was truly alone. After making sure he was indeed alone, he walked towards the piano. His hands caressed the keys. Checking if he was alone for the last time, he quickly sat on the stool.
Then the motions and the notes came to him. He played Leo's favourites, his favourites, and some of Mother and Father's favourites. He stumbled at some places thinking 'I should come here more often.'
He played and played. It felt like home, especially Leo's favourites.

Sigh!
It was only late October but the NEWTs were already getting to him. As a result, Sammy, surprisingly, was not in the kitchens. As great of a shock as it was to those who knew him, he knew what he needed. And right now, he needed a place that didn't have the noise levels that could come with the kitchens and one where he could be weary in.
Instead, the Ravenclaw chose the music room: a room where he could play none of the instruments well, but a place that didn't let outside sounds come in. In his mind, it was the perfect spot for this.
After seeing a spot that was big enough for his frame, Sammy let his bag drop and didn't look back at it. There were more important things, like flopping on the floor near the piano in a starfish position. Hey, at least it was comfortable.
Apparently I haven't got enough RPs going already lmao

The Music Room!
It truly was Jude’s favourite place in the Castle. It was evident by the number of times he came here to play on the piano. Since he obviously couldn’t play on the one at home, the one here at Hogwarts would have to suffice. So far, it had. But this time around, the Hufflepuff was here just for more than leisure: the theater which Reagan and Davet were attached had asked him to do a bit of work for their summer play. Since Jude had played the piano for them before, the play manager had got it in his head that Jude should write music for them as well.
Yeah… well…
He really wasn’t a composer, but he would try and have most of it ready so he could let them hear what he had come up with during the Christmas holidays. The only problem was that someone was already using the piano. But he didn’t mind for the kid playing was very decent. Clutching his music book to his chest, the Hufflepuff stood there silently, listening.

This... this could be nice.
Ash had chosen the music room because it was quiet. She needed to shut out the rest of the world and focus on her music so that she could let go of what she was feeling right now. If that was even possible. She stepped into the music room, several flowers springing up in her footsteps, and set her things down by the piano. That was when she noticed Sammy. On the floor. It gave her a good scare, and she suppressed a shriek. She rushed over to him, but after staring down at him she decided that he was basically physically fine. She quietly laid down next to him to keep him company, unsure if he wanted to talk or not.

All very touching, this music, all very moving, yes, yes, blah blah music blah. Well, Peeves was here to bring even more harmony. HA.
In the midst of the tinkling music, the school poltergeist BURST from bass drum of the drumkit - oops! so clumsy - and soared around the heads of the two boys, giving an uproarious one-man applause. "Bravo! Bravo! A triumph!" Book open in one hand, he flourished it at the piano man (Luther) - "A token of my appreciation!" - snapped the shut, blew an almighty raspberry, and zoomed on out the door. He'd figure out what old Peevesy meant soon enough.
Just a flying visit. Literally. Peeves had spent a long time waiting in that bass drum and had a LOT of menacing energy he needed to burn off.

When Luther heard Peeves it was too late, he was too captured with his own music. As the annoying resident poltergeist left, a glow caught Luther's attention. He looked down and saw his hands were glowing. Literally glowing. His hands were glowing bright white. He shook his hands trying to get the glow off of his hands, panicking about what a "token of appreciation" might mean for Peeves.
Then he realized the Hufflepuff boy. His hands in an awkward pose, Luther said "Hi, do you know what that was about? I am Luther, Luther Starriver by the way."
Then wondering if he can "turn off" his glow, he tried to tune it down. The good news was the glow subsided. The bad news was he couldn't turn it completely off. The weird news was as he was trying to change its colour, Luther realized he could change its colour and intensity. He thought 'If this doesn't hurt me in any way, Leo will absolutely LOVE this.'

What part should be dedicated? Was this a solid enough foundation? How was this going to work in the long run...
Lost in his own thoughts, Sammy hardly noticed the very familiar face that showed up right before his eyes. One he'd met in this very room all those years ago and one who, for a moment, looked scared. All of that flew past his radar while he was taking a moment of reflection.
That is, until she laid down next to him.
Blinking several times, he turned to look at her, only for a dimpled smile to instinctively spread across his face. "Hey phoenix," Pretty lame wordplay but he was still proud of it. "You okay there? Or are the NEWTs getting to you too?" See? This was nice.

Ash shrugged from the floor. The NEWTs weren't getting to her... the problem was that she didn't need anything new for her to feel terrible. That was just how she was all the time. But she was used to that. Her regular life wasn't why she was lying on the floor in here. "I just wanted to keep you company. Because nobody should have to lie on the floor all by themselves." Especially not Sammy, who was one of the kindest people she'd ever met and would surely keep her company if she were lying on the ground in a concerning manner. "Are you okay? Want company, or your hand held, or something?" People who were okay didn't usually lie on the floor like this, at least according to Dustin.

Leave it to Peeves to spoil a good thing!
Jude had just about had it with the Poltergeist and had already whipped his wand out, his heart racing from the sudden manner in which Peeves had burst out of the bass drum. Before he knew it, that now familiar book was shoved at the other boy and Peeves was raspberrying his way out of the Music Room. There was something about that book that made Jude suspicious. To prove those suspicions, he would have to keep an eye on this young Gryffindor. Those glowing hands were a good start to prove his point.
Holstering his wand, Jude said wearily, “Hi, Luther. Jude here. Are you okay?” The Hufflepuff moved closer to the piano, his eyes fixed on Luther’s hands. “Do your hands hurt or anything?”

Luther looked at his hands, shook them, clenched and then opened them. There was no pain. "I... don't know. It feels pretty normal except for the glowing part, of course." he said, then continued after pausing for a few seconds "It kind of tickles when I change the intensity." while making his hands glow bright and dim as he could. "But not uncomfortable. However, I am a bit worried, it is Peeves, after all. Also, I cannot turn it off completely. Like, I can dim it but not all the way. Maybe I should see Healer Mancini."
After a few moments lost in thought, Luther looked at Jude and saw the book in his hands. "Oh, you came to play the piano? Sorry, I kind of spaced out while playing."

"Thank you. I'm grateful for the company, especially from you," After all, she was one of the people he knew he'd be comfortable around, even if they didn't say a word to each other. After a few moments lost in thought, Luther looked at Jude and saw the book in his hands. "Oh, you came to play the piano? Sorry, I kind of spaced out while playing."
Jude stared hard at Luther’s hands. He had seen a lot of strange things these past few months, strange things that usually involved Peeves. “Keep an eye on those, yeah? If it gets worse, I would advise a trip to Professor Mancini.” His eyes were still focused on those hands, wondering if the glow would fade out after a while. Hmmm, it certainly was interesting to hear about the effects Luther was feeling. “Maybe it fades away after some time? It’s possible it’s linked to how much you flex or clench your hands. But it would never hurt to have them checked soon.” Jude completely understood your concerns, Luther!
There was a grin from him. “I did but no worries! You play great, by the way! Did you take lessons or are you self taught?” The sixth year was always interested to hear about that. “Have you got a piece you enjoy playing the most?”

Luther nodded, it wouldn't do if he lost his hands because of Peeves. 'I have only two after all.' thought Luther and softly chuckled to himself. Turning to Jude, "I am not sure how or why it works. It's just... when I want the glow to be dimmed, it just does. But, yes, I will see Professor Mancini as soon as possible." said Luther.
"Thank you so much. I... I am a bit of both. I have taken lessons before but I have been playing what I can for a while. So, even though I don't think I can play it that well, my favourite is probably Turkish March of Beethoven. I also sometimes try playing some rock songs, too. What about you?" said Luther excitedly, his glowing hands shining bright since he lost focus. It was always nice to find someone to talk to about music.
A dimpled!smile instinctively spread across his face at her words. It wasn't too bad, and Sammy knew that, but the fact that she was concerned was heartwarming. There was no doubt that he'd made a good decision in keeping her around.

Anyways. "What about you? How've you been doing?"
Ash kind of smiled at Sammy's dimpled!smile, still concerned about him. Lots of things could hide behind smiles, she knew. She just kept him company on the floor, not holding his hand. She didn't care if anyone spread rumors about them, because any rumor would be tame compared to what happened in second year. However, Sammy didn't ask to have his hand held, so she simply didn't. Instead, she folded her hands behind her head. "Daunted by the NEWTS? Or...?" Or afterwards. When they had to go out in the real world. When she found out if she could go out and live on her own and take care of herself, if she could keep her life together. If she could be successful at what she wanted to do. That actually scared her far more than NEWTs. She didn't want to let Sammy know that, though. It wasn't her turn to vent. Even if he was trying to take attention off of himself. You can't 'anyways!' Ash that easily, Sammy. "I'm alright. I've been better. But I've also been much worse." She realized that wasn't reassuring at all. The truth was, she wasn't exactly doing great, and she never was, and it was very obvious. "I don't think I'm going to university." Because she was going to learn from her father, but also because she couldn't spend another year in a school. "But I'm still trying to do well on my NEWTs." She glanced over. "If you're stressed, you could come to the health and wellness group with me." She didn't want to pry into his feelings, because she didn't like when people did it to her, but she also didn't want to let him redirect the conversation.

Jude tried not to sound worried for Luther. As far as he knew, none of Peeves’ prank on anyone had ever hurt anyone. Annoyed, yes, but not hurt. The Hufflepuff nodded, his eyes still fixed on the younger boy’s hands. As long as there were no other issues and the glowing subsided, they would be all right. At least they could get to talk about music now? It happened to be a topic he rather enjoyed.
It was clear that it was Luther’s too by the way the Gryffindor talked. And glowed.
Merlin! That glowing was distracting! “Oh, that’s great! How long have you been taking lessons?” Jude honestly thought that Luther was doing well for a beginner. “Neat! That’s a really great piece. Mozart’s Sonata No. 16 is what I started out with.” Um… The Hufflepuff pointed at the glowing hands. “My older brother’s the drummer for The Kings and Serpents. He taught me a few of their songs. Your hands are REALLY glowing.” Like Luther needed to be told, it was THAT obvious.

Luther realized Jude was distracted by his glowing hands so he focused on his hands and tried to dim them as much as he could. The glow was visibly dimmed but unfortunately, a bright glow still outlined his hands.
After throwing a look at Jude that he hoped would convey his apology, Luther said "Umm, well... I guess... it has been like 3 or 4 years now. Ah yes, I love that piece too." and then added "THAT'S SO COOL! Can you play some now?" With that, the glow returned but when Luther noticed it, he took a deep breath and tried to dim it again. It was not the lowest he could go but he was at least not a walking lighthouse.

Yeah, whatever Luther was doing was only working a hint. Jude remained concerned about the glowing and he half expected to hear the Gryffindor complain of pain or itching… or something. But Luther didn’t so Jude tried not to make a big deal about the hands. Their current conversation topic of music was definitely one that helped in that department.
“That’s good, it would explain why you’re so good at it!” For some, learning the piano {or any instrument} could take a while. For others? Not as much, especially if you have a knack for music. The Puff was certainly pleasantly surprised to hear that Luther also enjoyed the Mozart piece. There hadn’t been many persons he had met who knew classical music from the ancient ages. It made him like Luther all the more. “Oh!” He hadn’t expected that request but who was he to refuse? “Sure!” He began leading the way to the piano and sat at the Duet Bench. “You notice your hands glow really bright when you’re excited?” Jude asked, trying to decide which song to play at the same time.

A faint blush coloured Luther's face upon Jude's compliment and said "Thank you, I practice as much as I can." Luther was no stranger to compliments, to be honest. However, they all felt shallow, with no emotion behind them. Except for Leo's of course, he always complimented him genuinely, but it was difficult to gain his praise. So when someone other than Leo praised his work genuinely, he never knew what to do.
As Jude sat on the bench and pointed out his hands, Luther looked down and saw them glowing as bright as possible once again. "I... didn't know that. It looks like I have to keep the glow in my mind constantly." said Luther frowning and trying to dim his hands again.

Most people blushed when they received compliments. Therefore, Luther doing so came as no surprise. Jude simply grinned again, thinking that the Gryffindor would go far with an attitude and dedication like the one he already had towards practice. A lot of hard work was involved when it came to music - and any sort of performing arts, to be honest.
“That sounds exhausting,’’ the older boy responded, making a face. “Imagine when you’re supposed to be focusing on a test but keep thinking about your hands.” THAT sounded like a recipe for failure at the test. Here’s to hoping that playing a bit of rock music would help Luther to think of other things. And so Jude began to play a soft version of the very first song from The Kings and Serpents that he had learnt. The melody was the same but without the heavier stuff like guitar riffs and drum solos. It was sort of like his version of ‘Pop goes rock’. Jude glanced over at Luther, trying to get a read of his thoughts.

Luther thought about what Jude said. While thinking about how he could keep the glowing hidden, he nodded distractedly "I don't know how it will be. Maybe it will pass soon. I... I don't know. Also, if I could keep the glow dimmed as possible, I kind of... like it, you know. Yes, it is distracting but it is also kind of... cool. Does it make sense?" His tone implied he was still unsure about this recent so-called 'token of appreciation'.
Then came the soft notes of the song Jude chose. As the notes washed over Luther, he thought about those acoustic rock pieces he had heard. Unconsciously, his feet started softly tapping to the rhythm. He could feel the soft tone of the piano soothing him. After a while, he asked "That's awesome. What is it called? One of your brother's band's songs, right? The Kings and Serpents, was it?"

Jude turned Luther’s words over in his mind. Yes, he could actually make sense of it all and there was a smile and nod on his part. “I think I do! Well, if it’s not a real bother, I suppose we can let those hands be for now.” The boys can focus on music, a rather exciting topic if you ever asked him. The only thing that rivaled that was the topic of dancing.
The Hufflepuff became very much aware of Luther being in the zone of the tune. He himself was in the zone. How could one not be when the piano music was so soothing and made you think of your happy place. Or rather, it COULD be one’s happy place. “Yep, it is. It’s called ‘Am I Going Crazy?’. Hey, have you ever listened to their music? Or been to any of their concerts?”
SPOILER!!: I can see Luther having a hero-crush on Jude

A slight frown marred Luther's face when his eyes were momentarily blinded by the glow.
Taking a deep breath, he tried to dim it once more and focused on his surroundings. Then with a half-forced smile, he said "No, unfortunately, I haven't. But now I definitely want to. I hope they give a concert during the summer holiday. Have you ever written one of your own, by the way?" While speaking, Luther tucked his hands in his pockets to block the glow as much as he could. 'I definitely should see Professor Mancini.' he thought but he didn't want to leave Jude. He definitely wasn't having a hero-crush on the Hufflepuff.

Okay…
So Jude really was going to have to put his foot down and send Luther to see Mancini if this glowing continued. Was it just him or did that one in particular go exceedingly bright? Squinting slightly, the older boy bobbed his head a bit. “You should! They’re really, really good!” And he wasn’t only saying that because Koen was his brother. “They’re always touring, I can tell you that. Koen was away from home a lot because of that. I can check with him and get you some tour dates if you like.”
Jude tinkered with the keys of the piano, absently still playing the song. “Not any with lyrics,’’ he admitted. “My older sister and my boyfriend act in plays over holiday breaks, and last year I wrote an instumental piece for one of those plays.” He eyed Luther then grinned. “Have you been lurking in my mind? Because I’ve been toying with the idea to get into music writing a bit more.” Jude honestly would have been flattered to know of Luther’s hero crush; it wasn’t something he would have expected from anyone but his younger sister. “What about you though? Are you planning on pursuing anything music related?”

"Oh that would be awesome. If they come to Sweden during their tour, that would be even better. Have you ever joined them during the summer?" asked Luther eagerly.
As Luther listened to Jude talking about his work, he wondered 'I hope I can do that too one day.' and said mischievously "You never know" the continued "Would you mind playing something you wrote? I have always wanted to write something as, you know, a soundtrack for my life. But currently, I am nowhere near the skill required for doing that but hopefully... maybe... one day."
Jude's last question was something he asked himself more than once. Yet, he never got an answer. So he gave Jude the answer he always used for distracting himself "I... I don't think so. I will definitely do something about researching magic. Starrivers have been magical researchers for centuries. Maybe I will research something about magical music?" with a distracted chuckle.
