Meredith stepped onto the train in search of the trolley, her camera magically altered so that she could use it at Hogwarts slung around her neck by the straps. Back at Stemp House, the girl had refused to eat breakfast, but as her stomach growled, she regretted her decision. Fortunately, the Gryffindor found the trolley quickly, and her mouth nearly watered when she saw the variety of candies.

She reached into her jeans pocket and took out a couple of coins. Enough to buy a box of dark chocolate honeycombs.

After having settled into a compartment, Johnny made his way down to none other than the food trolley!

Whipping out his hefty coin wallet the boy had every intention to purchase one of everything! It sounded and seemed so delicious there was absolutely no way Johnny was going to settle for less. They say less is more but not when it comes to food!

Lisa stepped out of where she was seating to go purchase snacks. The Hogwarts Express ride was never complete without her traditional jaunt to the Food Trolley. Some chocolate frogs were in order. Enough for her and friends for the ride and some to keep in her robes at the start of term feast. In all her time at Hogwarts, she had learned the importance of having snacks accessible.

She found the trolley and decided she was in luck because only two people were in front of her! Great. Enough time to figure out what she wanted. She caught the trolley lady’s eye and gave her a bright smile paired with a wiggle of her fingers. Then her eyes glanced back at the goods…. Maybe she should get something other than chocolate frogs. “Stocking up for the feast?” she asked the younger girl with a slight tilt of her head to the left. She then turned her attention to the boy (who looked her age or perhaps older). Lisa didn’t recognize him. “It all looks good… I thought I was going to come here for chocolate frogs but now I’m sorely persuaded by five other things. What are you getting?”

Jiggling his coin wallet as he waited his turn, Johnny cocked his head to the side as a voice from nearby grabbed his attention. it was a young girl he's also never met before but surely an introduction would change that. "Five is far too less! i'm going for one of everything." John replied with a smirk. Would he make himself sick from all these tasty delights? Probably. But it hasn't stopped him before.

"I'm Johnny, by the way." Johnathan introduced himself with a huge grin. "Come here often?" The playful boy teased. Obviously it wouldn't be often unless the young gal does stop by the food trolley many times before the train comes to a final stop.

She hadn’t expected THAT answer and it piqued her curiosity more. Was this guy going to eat himself silly? Or was he going to take a bite of every single thing and not finish anything? Then again… when her brothers were her age, they always seemed to have this insatiable hunger to devour everything in sight. “An opportunist, I see,” she commented with a chuckle. She liked the way he thought.

Oh! Introductions. She extended her hand towards him so they could shake hands. Younger her would have automatically bowed her head a little buuuut now being at Hogwarts for five years- her ways had changed. “Nice to meet you, Johnny. I’m Lisa,” she offered in return before laughing at his cheeky tease. Aaah. A classic teasing line. “Oh only twice a term I assure you but I DO know this wonderful lady on a FIRST name basis so you could say I’m pretty… in the know, y’know,” she explained with a confident nod.

He was definitely going to attempt to eat as much as he can and perhaps share provisions with whoever joins his compartment. Jonathan chuckled at the comment, ”dare I even say a party?” The boy smirked, lowering his deep voice just a bit. Though it would be really fun and wild to throw a party in his compartment, it was a risk he would be willing to take if he was honest.

Smiling, he took the young girl’s hand and gave it an amicable shake. Johnny had turned fifteen over the summer but he was much taller and seemed older than he really was. He accredit his father’s genes for that. ”Nice to meet you too, Lisa.” He grinned. Glad that Lisa understood his sense of humor he laughed as well. ”Oh, so you’re Hogwarts Express Food Trolley famous?” Johnny teased once more. ”Well I am starstruck.” He smirked. ”What are you looking to get?” Johnny nodded over at the sweets.

Meredith was so engrossed in her thoughts about whether she really wanted to buy the dark chocolate honeycombs or something else for the same price that she was startled when a voice asked her a question. The Gryffindor had missed the fact that more students had arrived at the trolley to purchase sweets. "Sorry" she said instinctively, even though she wasn't sure why she was apologizing in the first place. Her blue eyes shifted from Lisa, a girl she knew was in Ravenclaw, to the hefty coin bag in the guy's hand. She was envious after seeing the bag. "Um, I'm not sure about that..." she said to the girl as she felt the few coins in her pocket.

While the two older students began to engage in conversation, Meredith turned to buy a package of dark chocolate honeycombs before spinning around to leave for her compartment. She didn't want to interrupt them both, but they were in the way though. "You two can buy something" or all of it, she thought as she cast another jealous glance at the coin bag.

“Me either,” were the words that Lisa had shared back with the younger girl. What if you bought something you wanted but then realized when eating that you didn’t want it? How could you be 100% sure?

A party? Her eyebrows raised in reply and she wondered what house he’d be in. He seemed to like risks and fun. That sounded all fun and everything but to buy enough to throw a whole party… That was very generous. Sure, Lisa had pocket money built up from her summer job but she wouldn’t be as generous with the stash. She had plans to use it she had zero plans or so she continued to pretend there was a lofty goal and remind herself of it. “Could be fun,” she nodded. Fun being the party.

“I am and you should be,” she teased. Star struck, that is. “You get the best deals on snacks, y’know,” she joked back with Johnny before offering the lady a very big smile. Lisa was just messing around. It was already a fun start to the Train Ride. She turned her gaze back towards the sweets and sighed. “I thought chocolate frogs but I want something more savory… any recommendations?”

Then the girl in front of them turned towards them and told them they could go ahead. “Um.. okay.” Lisa, not knowing the other girl’s predicament, didn’t think much of it and just offered her a nod in return. She did think the response was sort of… odd. Lisa couldn’t put her finger on the reason why. She did step to the side to let the girl have enough space to pass. “I have to decide on what…Johnny, if you know, you’re in front of me so you can go ahead.”

Johnny hadn’t noticed the young girl eyed his coin wallet nor did he think it would stir envy in anyone.The intention was not to flaunt the coins, the boy just wanted delicious and sweet sustenance. Jonathan would offer to buy the young girl whatever else she was thirsting on but wasn’t sure if it’d come off as rude or weird.

It had momentarily escaped the young boy’s mind that he was probably in the way of the young girl, he’d been engaged in the conversation with Lisa he didn’t notice. Moving out the way Johnny smiled and nodded. ”What did you get?” He cheerfully asked the young girl.



His Hogwarts house was still to be determined and it was eating at the young boy’s mind as he was eager to just know where he would be sorted in. But in the meantime a train party certainly sounded fun and more so if food was involved! And if he had the means to provide for the said party, then why not? ”I am fun. Johnny grinned. ”So would a party.” He laughed.

John let out a chuckle and grinned, ”Who knew you could meet a celebrity on the Hogwarts Express?” He teased. ”And I do like bargains.” John jested. Lisa was fun and so far he was enjoying the company. Not to ignore the lady he too sent a smile in her direction.

Once out of the young girl’s way he turned his focus to the trolley as he was next in line and didn’t want to hold the line back. Moving forwards the snacks he nodded, ”I would like one of everything, please.” His money does in fact jiggle jiggle.

Tahani walked to the Food Trolley to buy some snacks. There were a bunch of students there, all much taller than her. She stood there, wondering what to buy. She was a muggle-born and was familiar with none of these items Could she ask them? She said 'Excuse me..sorry to interrupt, I'm Tahani, I'm a first year, I wanted to try something savoury, could you please suggest something?,' she asked, literally looking up at the crowd. 'Thanks,' she added, smiling politely.

Remy really wasn’t the type to get her hair done just before a school term, since her plans to become an IT girl had EPICALLY failed, but this term was an exception after a summer of pink hair. Perhaps next year she’d go for blue, or Gryffindor red since she had a mixed review on Ravenclaw at the moment.

She made a stop at the food trolley before finding somewhere to sit, because who brought their own food to the Hogwarts Express? Losers, that’s who. The blonde stood behind a tiny first year, although she didn’t tower over her as she was naturally a short height herself, and she reached past her to point. “Try a Pumpkin Pasty.” Remy extended her hand even further to pick one up for herself. “That’s what I’m getting, anyway.” Remy paid and immediately started chomping away at it.

Awwww, the first year was cute, and Remy felt like SUCH a good student for helping. “Tahani, wasn’t it? I’m Remy.” She introduced after swallowing the first bite of her pasty.

Tahani smiled at the Gryffindor girl. She could try a Pumpkin Pasty. 'One Pumpkin Pasty, please,' she asked the Food Trolley lady and paid for it. 'Thank you,' she said. She took a bite. 'Oh it is delicious, thanks for helping out Remy. Yes, I'm Tahani, it's so nice to meet you,' she said. An older student, oh goodie. She had so many questions. 'Man, I'm so excited to get started!,' she remarked.

Remy was VERY pleased that her suggestion had gone down well. Not everyone enjoyed the taste of pumpkin, but a good old flavoured pasty was something Remy had been brought up on. She had also tried a pumpkin spiced latte from Espresso Patronum over the summer. It was bloomin’ delicious!

“You’re welcome, I’m glad you liked it. It’s my go-to Hogwarts Express snack,” it was more filling, see. She noticed that the girl was already very talkative, suppose that was a first year trait. “Aw, it’s very exciting. You’ll be sorted into your house before you know it. I’m in Gryffindor house, by the way,” if she hadn’t already gotten that from her robes.

Tahani kept chomping down the Pumpkin Pasty. It was delicious. 'Yes, I have never had something like this before,' she said, as she bought a couple of them more from the Food Trolley. 'Yes, I saw the robes! That's wonderful, that was Harry Potter's house, wasn't it?Yes, I'm excited and nervous. I've read about the sorting process, that they put a hat on your head. Is it scary? What does it feel like, like is it like your mind is being read?,' she asked, questions after questions. Tahani suddenly felt embarassed. 'I'm sorry, I don't have any magical relatives, hence all the questions,' she added quietly, looking down. Being muggle-born, all the knowledge she had came from the reading she had done.

Remy chuckled a little, again, at her enthusiasm. "It WAS Harry Potter's house, indeed. Him and many other legends." Far too many to name, but her house was definitely home to the most epic people, in her opinion. She nodded at the girls next question. "Only scary part is having everybody watching. But I was so excited that I didn't mind too much." Then again, Remy was much more extroverted than introverted. "It's definitely strange... how a random, old hat can know you so well..." Some people would get her into real trouble for calling the Sorting Hat a 'random old hat'. "It always gets it right, though." Remy encouraged.

"Oh!" Remy was almost excited. "Don't be sorry. I know a few muggle-borns. I find it soooo interesting to find out about muggles and their world." Muggle items seemed much more common nowadays in the wizarding world, however. Or she just happened to be aware of them.

Tahani listened carefully. Everyone watching is scary of course. There is the pressure that comes with it. 'I am excited too, also slightly nervous,' she exclaimed.

A random hat knowing one so well was weird. 'What if it gets it wrong though?,' she asked. Being from a muggle born family was challenging. She did feel that she would lag behind. But Hermione Granger was muggle-born too. 'Ha..I guess I get that, like how I'm so excited about the wizarding world!,' she exclaimed. 'Anything I can help you with?,' she asked.

Meredith tried not to overhear Johnny and Lisa's talk, but it was impossible to do when she was standing this close to them. She wasn't a shy person, not at all. But not having eaten breakfast back at Stemp House had left her a bit groggy. She couldn't wait till they got back to Hogwarts and the feast would start.

Meredith walked ahead, preparing to proceed towards her compartment and consume the chocolate when she was interrupted by a question. The Gryffindor turned her head and returned a tiny grin, not wanting to appear hungry. "This" she said, holding up the chocolate honeycombs. "Are you two going to throw a party?" she asked before she could help herself.

“Well,” Remy paused as she reconsidered offering friendship to a first year, but one or two didn’t matter, and Tahani was very sweet, “if you need anyone to look out for you, let me know.” She thought she could be quite scary if she tried to be.

She shrugged. “I’ve never known it to be wrong. Anyway, all of the houses are pretty cool in their own way,” she had friends in every house, which was interesting.

The Gryffindor grinned wide about all the possible things she could ask about the muggle world. It seemed impossible to ask about stuff she had no idea about. “I don’t know!!! I guess I’ve always wondered what muggles do when they’ve misplaced something. We would use a simple summoning charm.” She guessed they just kept important belongings in a special box so that they were safe.

That was incredibly sweet. Tahani felt extremely grateful when the older girl said that. 'That is very nice of you, thank you so much!,' she said.

She listened as Remy spoke about the hat. That alleviated her fears. All the houses were cool in their own way, true. 'It is fascinating, really, the concept of a hat understanding and sorting you,' she said. It really was, to her. Gosh, she must sound like such a fool for being so doe-eyed about everything.

Tahani smiled at Remy's question. 'Muggles have no way of summoning things, of course. You keep them safely in their place and try to remember them, but if you can't, then it's gone. Which I believed was the general way of life until two months back, boom!' she said jokingly. A lot of things were very different. Wizards did know a lot of things that came in handy that muggles didn't.
