| | Flying Lesson 1 A cool January breeze swept through the practice pitch, the sun beamed down in a dull winter yellow. The temperatures were still quite cold, but that was to be expected in their region. Professor Escalante made sure to rid the practice pitch of any snow and ice so as to avoid any unnecessary injuries and accidents, and to provide a high quality learning environment for his students.
Standing at his post near the entrance of the gate to the practice pitch, in his usual dark robes, Kennedy Escalante waited for students to arrive. When they did, students would notice a rectangular wooden table topped with goggles, a sign for an adventurous lesson awaiting for them. Other than that there was nothing else unnatural.
As usual in Escalante’s lessons, students are expected to fly laps around the pitch in order to warm up until the lesson officially begins. Students will be well aware that this serves to activate their muscles in order to prepare for the activity up ahead, and to avoid injuries. OOC: Hiiiii, all! I’m so excited to be here and to have this opportunity to play with you all. Remember to check out the Flying Rules and Expectations before posting in this thread.
As mentioned in the post, Kennedy would have instructed all students to fly around the practice pitch as a warm up before the lesson begins. See you all in about 24 hours from this post! ^___^ Lesson Progression:

A tired sigh escaped Luther's lips when he heard Professor Escalante calling them to end the class. The sudden disappearance of the balls surprised him when he started to descend slowly.
After ensuring the broom he was using was in a good condition, Luther gathered his warm mittens, hat and scarf from the bin. Finally saying "Have a nice day, Professor." and to Jude "See you, Jude.", Luther started walking towards the castle with a tired smile on his face.

Caledon Roth The Leaky Cauldron | Rhibear ~ Madam Solo ~ Dark Brooding Girl ~ Accio Jedi ~ Gryffinclaw ~ Just a doll Desiree was about to take off for another go at the paintballs when Professor Escalante’s whistle sounded. Darn! She didn’t want to quit now! It seemed like she’d just started! Nonetheless, she landed with the others, listening intently to the professor’s closing remarks. She blinked confusedly. Hold on, did he think she was taking frequent breaks because she struggled to handle the activity? She was taking breaks because she had the added challenge of randomly transforming into a wombat, and she didn’t want to endanger anyone else if that happened! The thought crossed her mind to explain that to Professor Escalante on her way out, but she thought better of it when she heard his questions. She’d save it for the homework essay instead.
She inspected the school broom she’d been using and saw to her relief that most of the red paint got on her instead of the broom. She still thought the black and red looked cool, but if Adam didn’t like it, she could always charm the hoodie clean before she gave it back. That or give him some of her birthday money to buy a new one. As she began to buff the broom clean, her thoughts wandered. Looks like she was wrong about this lesson not being useful! It didn’t help her stop the beast transformations or get revenge on Peeves, but it did give her something to think about, other than how monstrous the transformations made her feel.
Finally satisfied that the broom was spotless, Desiree went to retrieve her scarf and gloves and put the broom back on her way out. “Bye, Professor,” she said, giving a wave with her free hand and a smile that almost resembled her old self. “Thanks for the lesson!”

| YesJess! | Captain Goggles | Mama Badger | Eva's Soul Sister | An OG™ | It's all in the Numbers So today's lesson was going to be about centering the mind and dealing with stressful situations. Okay... that wouldn't be too bad, would it? As he kicked off into the air, he couldn't help but notice Jude getting hit with several of the purple paintballs. And just as he thought he was safe, one came at him ... but fortunately he ducked. Well practiced reflexes in avoiding bludgers, he supposed. Oh... one got Rajesh too.
Enough distractions from his peers though. He needed to focus, before he became the next victim. Whoosh. And one zoomed past him, just barely skidding his right ear.
And saved by the bell whistles. Because Apollo wasn't sure how much longer he could have gone avoiding the paintballs. Landing with the usual ease and comfort, he gave a quick check of his broom, before turning to the professor. "Thanks professor. Great exercises today!" He had to admit that it was nice to not do the usual physical drills. It seemed everyone always seemed to forget that mindfulness was just as important to exercise.

| That's Rough Buddy | Be the Flower | Moon & Stars Kennedy appreciated the students took well to tending to the brooms after they were done with them. He’s heard a few complaints, but they were getting the roll of it now.
As one by one finished and headed out, Kennedy expressed his gratitude. “Thank you all for a great lesson.” And for doing their best as always. “If anyone would like some extra flying practice, please don’t hesitate to come see me and we’ll work something out.” There was nothing wrong with asking for help if it was needed. Kennedy often left an open slot to help students improve on their own. Different types of learning, y’know. OOC: That’s it for now. I appreciate you all for joining my on my first Flying lesson. It was so much fun getting to know your student characters in a different light. Laters! <3
