Bulletin Board

Atop the marble staircase in the Entrance Hall along the corridor that will direct you to the moving staircases, you stumble across a long, horizontal cork bulletin board that is encased in glass. Here you will find an array of notices and signs, stick up by tacks and push-pins, that are meant for the entire student body to read. Anything from requests, advertisements, lost and found notices, and gentle reminders can be viewed for all eyes to see.

If you have something you would like to add to this colourful, paper-filled board, you are more than welcome to do so. Simply slide over the glass surrounding the board (it is never locked) and stick on the board whatever it is you wish for everyone to know. Having this board for your use is a privilege, not a right, so use it responsibly. Any crude drawings or messages will result in the bulletin board crumpling them up and throwing your balled notice at your face, giving you a deep paper cut, before you even have a chance to slide the glass back to its original place.

Jasper had always known there was a shared bulletin board, but he hadn't ever used it before. He preferred getting word out there the old fashioned way: Shouting. If there was one thing he was good at (other than Quidditch) (and strategically navigating a lunch buffet) (and being a great older brother) (and making friends), it was rallying a crowd.

But he figured he'd use the board this time. To save himself some time, if nothing else.

He did not, however, come prepared with the flyer he wanted to post up. But! He have a spare piece of parchment (lightly crumpled due to being haphazardly stuffed into the pocket of his robes) and a marker (nothing fancy, just the standard jumbo sized, red ink) -- and for that, he ought to be commended.

Which people were welcome to do as he leaned against the glass casing to write up his announcement. Having not thought ahead, he simply began by scribbling what first came to mind in big, bold letters at the very top of the paper.

A great start, if he had to say so himself.

Having initially spotted Botros from the doorway that led to the moving staircases, Kamran had momentarily mistaken him for a student defacing the bulletin board. A moment later, however, and he could see the truth of the matter.

"Is this a general enquiry, Mr Botros," he said, now stood behind the young Hufflepuff and considering his parchment thoughtfully, "Or the beginnings of a more specific notice?"

... Good Merlin, was the boy taller than Kamran already? It was difficult to be sure, but certainly there wasn't much in it.

CAN'T STOP WON'T STOP CAN'T BE TAMED WON'T BE TAMED. HEHEHEHEHE.

Whew.

Screeching (silently) to a halt in the midst of the Entrance Hall, Peeves allowed himself a moment for a short breather. Very short, actually, because he noticed the Headmaster, lingering up at the bulletin board. Now, Peevesy usually behaved himself - to an extent - where the authority of the school was concerned, but he was having FAR too much fun to rein it in now. After so much boredom! No, he'd have his fun, and RASPBERRIES to anyone who tried to stop him.

But Peeves was also no fool. He did fly over the heads of headmaster and student (Jasper), and he was cackling with maliciously gleeful intent, and he did surreptitiously land a spell on EACH of them, and he did sing, "Gifts from generous old Peeves!" as he did so... but he also flew far from this place just as soon as having done so. No need to have his fun cut short just yet

Jas was so busy trying to come up with something catchy to pen underneath what he had already written down that he hadn't even noticed Headmaster Kazmi standing by the doorway. It wasn't until the man approached that Jasper actually looked up and flashed him a good-natured sort of smile.

"Not sure yet," he admitted without any sense of embarrassment. "I knew the ink would take me where I needed to go, sir." He nodded as he explained. Whoa. That was pretty profound of him, tbh. He almost sounded like 'Toni for a minute there.

And YEAH! Yeah, he had grown taller. Thanks for noticing! Jasper was super proud of the extra inches he gained over the summer. His goal was to be tall, so every bit counted. He was actually thinking to-

But what he was actually thinking to, would have to wait. Because .... uhhhh.

"What? I don't see any--"

"GiiIIFFFTTTSSSSSS," was the last word that left Jasper's lips as he shot up towards the ceiling, much like a bottle rocket. Fortunately, he had the sense (and quick reflexes) to throw his hands up and save himself from a very unfortunate collision against the drywall. But. Uh. Now he was just sort of ... floating.

.... Blink. Blink. Blink.

"Headmaster Kazmi, did you SEE that!?!" He exclaimed from up in the air. THAT. WAS. AWESOME!!!!

Kamran nodded, with an air of complete understanding. "Ink is very accommodating in that way," he said, looking over the not-quite-notice that Botros had underway here. He was just on the verge of making some suggestion or other - or perhaps making another enquiry - when...

Twitch. Twitchtwitch. That pesky poltergeist. Kamran had been meaning to catch up with him, but try as he might he'd so far had no luck tracking him down. And, admittedly, had not yet been all that tempted to try very hard. Peeves had been up to no good, and Kamran had so been hoping he'd get bored and everything would die down before things got too out of hand. Or at least before he himself got caught up in it. Sorry, kids.

So now- sweet mother of Merlin. As Kamran had turned to see which way Peeves had flown off to, half-considering following, he caught sight of Botros out of the corner of his eye, just taking of. Just... literally... taking off. Moving at the speed of an awfully cricked neck, Kamran turned back and withdrew his wand, already casting a charm to soften the lad's landing, a kind of 'intervene first, ask questions later' type deal. Not that he didn't already know.

But while Botros had gone up, he had not yet come down. Kamran blinked up at him. "I certainly did. Are you alright? Any injuries?" He stepped back, so as not to crane his neck so much to look, and as he did so there was a curious jingling of bells, as though he wore some kind of... jester's hat. But there was no hat. No bells. Only jingling. He took another step, and merrily jingled again.
