 Ever wonder where your dirty underpants wind up? Just down the corridor, not terribly far from the staircase to the kitchen, the door to the laundry room can be found. What you will find in this room will, likely, not be a surprise. Within are no Muggle washing machines or dryers. Instead, front and centre, are large tubs with accompanying wash boards and sticks. A bizarre system of clothes lines fill the back of the room, beside which tables and large hampers await.
If you happen to wind up here on your House's laundry day, you will see your clothes -- hopefully labelled -- and the clothes of your fellow housemates being washed and dried by a team of house-elves. It is not uncommon to hear them bickering with each other or joining together in a motivational song to help make the job get completed quicker. First the clothes are scrubbed squeaky clean with soap and steaming hot water. They are next hung to dry and then neatly stacked on one of the large tables to be folded and placed back in the hamper to be returned to their owners.
Students are always welcome to be proactive and do their own laundry or at least lend the house-elves a hand. There sure is a lot of laundry to do!

Did Kinsay James know they had a laundry room in the castle? No. Her clothes always appeared back in her dorm where they belonged. There wasn't ever a need to question it. So. So she didn't have a reason to venture here before today.
Except. Except one of her favorite skirts had gone missing and rather than suspect any of the girls she lived with (very trusting and noble of her, see), she had to, instead, suspect the House Elves. Not because they were any less trustworthy than her dormmates, but because House Elves had tiny hands that probably made it difficult to keep track of all the clothes they had to wash. So see? It was justified suspecting. And justified suspecting was much nicer and more polite than suspecting without reasonable cause. So.
Plus. Plus she wasn't going to be cross with them. She just NEEDED her skirt. It was an important one. So. So she began searching each and every corner of the laundry room, getting down on all fours to make sure no corners went unchecked. Some things were worth it, ok? And this skirt neeeeeeded to be saved.

Aries knew something was going on in Classroom ELEVEN - and a little bit of eavesdropping later - he had decided he just didn't want to end up with decoration duty.
So, he had carefully walked away from the class - despite having watched Atlas walk inside --- only to stumble into the laundry room because he had then noticed Lumi Kolzer walking toward the great hall.
Heart absolutely seizing, dramatically speaking, the boy had no idea it was the laundry room as he took a moment to .... just breathe.
Yes. Breathe.
In.
And out.

And out. Karleigh was busy in the laundry room. It was a place she visited every once in a while. Sure, cleaning charms did wonders for her clothes and she was rather adept at them. But she always saw that as a temporary fix until they got a proper cleaning. And she liked to visit the house elves here sometimes too.
Today, she was here for both. She recently had an embarrassing accident involving chocolate ice cream that had spilled down the front of her fitted green top and landed onto her lap as she sat in her favorite stone-washed jeans in the Great Hall. Since it had been the weekend, she had been eager to wear something more casual and cute. At any rate, her cleaning charm had worked long enough to finish her treat and get changed, but since it was one of her favorite outfits, she wanted to make sure it was taken care of properly.
And now she was back at the laundry room to see if the elves were done with it and maybe to have a little chat. It was kind of rude to just ask them to do work for her without being personable. But before she could venture past the doorway, she spotted one of the Flamsteed twins inside, looking rather shaken. "Hey," she greeted with a small smile. "Are you okay?" Also, had he seen any of the house elves?

"How are you?" Nothing to see her. He was fine. Karleigh wasn't always the most intuitive person, but she had some niggling feeling that all wasn't exactly great with this Flamsteed. Maybe it was his tone, maybe it was the way he was breathing, maybe it was just his expression. The 16 year old couldn't quite pinpoint what it was, but she wasn't completely sure Aries was great.
Still... it wasn't exactly her business, was it? She didn't know Aries all that well and maybe she shouldn't pry too much. But after a moment's hesitation, she returned his smile and stepped into the laundry room to look for her clothes. "Are you sure? You seem a little flustered." No offense.
