Gryffindor Table https://s26.postimg.cc/qrvbl2v15/gry...ble-banner.jpg For those who belong in Gryffindor House, on the left side of the Great Hall is where your table awaits. Red banners containing an embroidered golden lion float above the polished table in honour of the brave Godric Gryffindor. Already placed on the tables are silver plates with accompanying cutlery and goblets. All that is missing right now are the mountains of food and pitchers containing your favourite beverages. |
The color everywhere certainly made it easy to distinguish which house table she was supposed to go to. Probably the point of why they made all the house pride as LOUD as it seemed to be in this room. Skipping her way away from the stool, she found herself a spot at the table and flopped down, her little legs kicking back and forth underneath the table as she waited for someone to come and join her. She'd gotten so stuck in her own sorting, she'd yet to notice where her train mates had gone off to, or her brother for that matter. She tried to scan the hall to find them as well. She gave up pretty quickly though, deciding they'd turn up and instead turned to whoever else was around. "When do we get to eat? Is the food tasty? Can we take left over bags up to our rooms???" The important questions, y'know. |
Here it was, Maxine's second year at Hogwarts, she was going to make a mark this year. Who knew what kind of mark she was making, but it was going to be a good one! She looked around the table to see if she recognized any faces, and to see what kind of new faces the sorting hat was going to bring them. It truly was the most exciting time of year. |
Aaah. Was there anything quite like the smell of the Great Hall at the start of a new term? Probably. It was not a favorite smell of Atlas' but there was a certain quality to it that could not be ignored. There was also a certain heaviness that came with his steps as he approached the table, one rooted in the perplexities that had been the on-going conversation between himself and his brother ... and how they had subconsciously turned it into a competition between the pair of them as to who fit in the least here. One thing helped keep his thoughts OFF everything else though and that was the promise of sitting his OWLs this term. If nothing else...he could always hyper focus there and push eeeeeeeeeeeeeverything else aside. It truly was a foolproof plan. Eventually plunking himself beside one of the newly sorted Gryffindors (he had been too antsy to sit when he had first arrived and instead performed several circumnavigations around the length of the table), Atlas offered the little girl a grin just as one of his latest inventions came crawling from the underside of his elbow and on to the inside of his wrist with a metallic creee creee sound. "Food comes after the headmaster's speech...and the speech comes after the Sorting completes. So it really depends on you lot how long it is until food arrives." Especially if any of them were hat stalls and prolonged everything. "Food is good. House elves do an awesome job. Just don't eat any ice cream you don't see prepared yourself." Dad's words stuck hard on that one. Curious as he was...he drew the line at finding out what a dementor's kiss was like. "Your bags and stuff will be in the dormitory once we're all dismissed at the conclusion of the feast." He enjoyed answering questions he knew the answers to. "Hey Maxine," he greeted the other little lioness before he slipped off both of his shoes and set them down on the bench beside him as a placeholder for his brother once he caught up after using the loo. |
If she was at all honest the feasts were one of her favourite part about school. As much as she adored her mother, Grace Hensley was not the greatest cook in the world. And most of summer she had been looking forward to the food that would grace her plate when she got back got back to school. Of course, she had been able to contain herself, and hadn't bolted for the great hall. The obvious reason with that was because there would be no food there yet. Although, she supposed that she could have bagged herself a good seat. Anyway, there was a smile on her face as she third year strolled over to the Gryffindor table. It didn't look too busy yet, but that was okay. "Hi Atlas. Hi Maxine." She murmured with a smile, as she took a seat near the little gathered set of Gryffindors. "Oooh. The sorting. I love the feast for the food, but the sorting is such great thing too." And sure, sometimes it could drag on, but she did enjoy it. Of course, her own hadn't been so great. Sitting on that stool for nearly 10 minutes hadn't been fun. She remembered her 11 year old self thinking the hat was just not going to sort her, and they'd chuck her out of the school. Luckily, the hat had decided to put her in Gryffindor and so her school journey had started. "I hope they have chocolate fudge cake for pudding though. It's my favourite" |

"Maxine!" Summer waved at her friend, they had spend a bit of time together last year and she was grateful to have such a good friend. "How have you been and how was your summer?" |
Maxine smiled as she heard her name from every direction. It truly was fun to be known by fellow students this year. As a First year not many know you .. but some were starting to remember her and it made her heart happy. Giving a friendly smile to Atlas and ... ummm.... Grace???? Maxine was drawing a blank and that one! Hey!! She couldn't be expected to remember everyone's name. "Hey guys, good summer?" And then another girl sat down next to her! "Summer!!" Maxine squealed a bit and she did a side arm hug awkward kind of thing to her friend. "I missed you all Summer! I wish we could have spent more time together." Though it was nice to be back with her house mates, she was missing her family, she looked over to the Ravenclaw table to see if she could see her sister Vera, but she must be further down the way. |
ugh, i'm so sorry she won't say hi >_< The train ride to Hogwarts had been a bit ... weird. But. But Kinsay was trying not to think about that as she made her way to the Gryffindor table, pulling her robes tightly around her body (to hide the fact that she had lined the inside with floral patterned fabric). And though a congregation of Gyrffindors had already gathered at one end of the table, Kinsay James chose to sit on the other end, where there would be lots of open spots on the bench. And then, like always, she began taking various items out of her bag and set them down to claim the spots beside her, only then dropping her chin into her hand and looking towards all the others already at the table. It was weird to think that last year, she had experienced her first feast without Phoebe and Teddy ... and that this year she would be experiencing her first without Cooper. She didn't like it one bit. But she also didn't want to think about it. Because. Because that'd make her sad. So. Um. Anyway! Where were her friends?! ...... Hopefully on their way. But, until then, Kinsay shifted her attention over to the sorting. There was one in particular that she was keen to watch. |

"I wish so too, but you know I've started to realise that as we get older, the busier you get and I for one am not looking forwards to it, I wish there was a potion that kept us young forever." Summer still wasn't looking forwards to getting older, she wanted to be young forever, but time seemed to be flying by. "Anyway, did you have a good Summer and did you do anything interesting?" |
Tucking in his shirt all proper, Aries Flamsteed rushed back to the great hall - he was in no mood to miss the food. It was very important, it almost always set the mood for the upcoming term. Knowing his brother would have saved him a seat, he easily slipped into a seat beside him as he was dumping information about the what is what at the feast for a student. Distracted and barely listening, Aries' eyes fell on the latest invention of his brothers - and he held out his palm in front of it. "Come here, Come here, Jiminy" Hearing Grace nearby, he made a sound, "Ahh, the chocolate fudge is everything - I could eat that for a whole week, I think" |
some mild rearranging for ~flow~ but everyone is in here ^^ Atlas offered Narcissa a little smile (those people who held up feasts? Yeah, he had not forgotten SHE had been one of the worst perpetrators in recent memory) as she arrived, though he did not share her sentiments exactly with the perks of the pending feast. He was more interested in a mountain of mashed potatoes than he was any cake or pudding or anything sweet. The arrival of Maxine's friend...mostly went right over the blonde's head and not at all put off that she had made a beeline to her dormmate and would disengage so those two could have at it. His summer HAD been great though, thanks for asking. Kinsay James seemed to have her wand in a knot again, at least from what he could catch in his peripheries, and before he could really make much of that situation...there was another girl introducing herself. "Chal....ce....do...what? Is that a dinosaur?" It sounded like a dinosaur name. Maybe one of those flying species. He may have to hear about this new species of dinosaur she was related to later though, because his little metallic friend was getting attention...attention and crawling on to his brother's hand. "...still think Ben Hopping is a better name..." he grumbled while holding his hand still so his grasshopper could cross the bridge without falling off and a leg snapping off again. Atlas had only just finished repairs after dad had attacked it with a rolled up newspaper - clearly by mistake. Jiminy Ben Hopping did have a particular liking for Aries and the way he clung to his brother's shoulder now was evidence of that...as if his OWN invention responding to Aries' choice of name hadn't been betrayal enough already. And he was going to need to find space for him under his bed along with the rest of his scrap pile critters. Attention back to the little first year (Dot, was it?), Atlas was MORE than happy to answer questions and talk about the things he knew and was good at...but he wasn't entirely sure what she was asking. "....you mean...can he receive voice commands?" He was still in the introductory phases of metallurgy and metal charming, hard to hone and practice when he couldn't do magic outside of school, but he was hoping to get some advanced lessons this term. Had a letter from dad in pocket too! "...if there is, you can have my helping," he said as he turned his attention back to his brother and back to the talk of cake and sweets. "I just want my annual volcano of mashed potatoes. And those little onion quiche thingies...those were surprisingly tasty." |
Sorry! i should have made it clear that her name is Narcissa. Grace is her mom lol To be honest, Narcissa's mere mention of chocolate pudding had gotten the first year craving the pudding. If she could have it for all of her dinner she really would. But Narcissa knew that that was not a good idea. Although it would be interesting to see how many servings of chocolate cake she could eat in one sitting. Along with cake she was looking forward to chips too. The chips that they served at the feasts were just so yummy. To be honest, as she sat here at the table, Narcissa was just realising that she had quite a fondness to the food that was served at school. It was just as well really, otherwise she'd spend the year being very hungry indeed. Brought out of her thoughts on food by the arrival of another, Narcissa frowned a little as Summer decided to ignore most of them, and focus just on her friend. Well that was rude. "Hi Summer!" Narcissa murmured, not deterred by the fact that Summer did indeed seem to only want to talk to Maxine. "I hope you had a good summer!" But then Aries arrived, and at least he did seem to acknowledge that she was here. That was good. [b]"You have good taste Aries." The third year murmured with a laugh. "and I am the same. I could eat only that for the feast and be a very happy lion." But Atlas' words were reminding her that there were savoury foods that were yummy at school too. "And now I just want to eat. I hope there aren't any hat stalls tonight." |
Still smiling at Summer"It was rather boring as usual, with a family as big as mine we don't do much travelling by any means, I didn't even go to London for my school supplies, my dad bought them all on his way home from work one day. But we did got to the beach a couple days! What about you?" And then all of sudden Maxine had flash and it was like a light bulb went on in her brain. "NARCISSA!!" Maxine shouted the girls name, she had just remembered it!!! "Whoops, sorry everyone, didn't mean to shout, but I was having problems remember your name, please forgive me, but it dawned on me!" |
finally getting a wild Sable Ileana to the table xD Was she a bit late in getting over to the red table after her own sorting? Probably, but Sable Ileana had gotten a bit too involved in cheering on every other new Gryffindor sortee after her own. Especially Vera, of course. Logan, a bit. There were lots of others who’d gotten sorted after her too, and she’d even both cheered and given what passed as a sympathetic noise toward Vasco as he was not sorted into Gryffindor. Course, she’d sort of expected that he wouldn’t be. But also, she was absolutely not against having someone smart on her crew either. Smart was useful. Just as much as every other pirate trait. Either way, the smol blonde had finally made her way over to the table, only to dramatically sigh when she saw the seats on both sides of her bestie had apparently been already claimed. Okay then, fine, she’d just take the seat DIRECTLY across from Vera. Which gave her an amazing view of the metal grasshopper thing that older Gryffindor boy had. Twins. Cool. And older kids. “Hi! I’m Sable Ileana,” she blurted out with a grin. Leaving out the captain part, and obviously Vera already knew her name. Probably Dot too, and Logan. She did want to clarify that she hardly ever went by just her first name. And preferably not just be known as the kid who’d been singing sea shanties on the way to the castle. Ooh, and a volcano of mashed potatoes sounded cool too. |
A smile was offered at the older boy, her new housemate (!!), when he sat down next to her, but her eyes were quickly drawn to the little buy like thing crawling around on him. Now THAT certainly wasn't something she could feed to her snake. Her eyes went WIDE as she leaned in closer to his arm to look at it. "That's so COOL. Did you make that!?" Could he make her one!? And could it be trained to do like, tricks and things like a little metal bug circus!? Wait, distraction. Did he just say food came AFTER the sorting? Cue a loud groan as she straightened into proper seating, only to thunk her head on the table in front of her. Ouch, that actually hurt a bit. "Couldn't we be eating NOW while the sorting is happening? I mean, none of us reaaaally want ALL the eyes on us while we're sorting!" Okay, maybe some of the did. In fact, she didn't actually mind being center of attention. But it was NOT more important than food, plus she'd already sorted so could we eat now please? Wait, ice cream? Brow furrowed as her head tilted in confusion. "Why should I not eat ice cream?" That seemed a weird food to be poisoned or something. Bags being transported themselves was really cool, so at least she didn't have to worry about THAT. Reaching into her pocket, Vera pulled out a brown paper bag and held it up. "Can I fill this with leftovers to take up to my room?" And if no, could he pretend he didn't just see it? There were also a lot of other older students in the surrounding area, and though they hadn't acknowledged her, that certainly did not deter this young new lion. So straightening, once again in her seat and pocketing her bag, she just sent a LARGE smile at the other students before announcing loudly. "HI. I'm VERA. Nice to meet you all! If you ever have any extra candy weighing you down, I'm happy to help take it off your hands!" You know, just throwing that out there. OH, HI Dot! Vera BEAMED as her new friend (because yes, a train ride together made instant friends) and gave her a quick hug when she settled next to her. "We're dorm mates!!!" And she KNEW she saw Sia get sorted here too which meant she was somewhere. A listening device? Oooooh, that would be useful to use on her brother if it worked like that. Vera's renewed interest in the mechanical bug had her looking towards the older boy again, and staring at it before glancing up and... seeing double??? "OH! You're a twin! Me too!! Isn't it the best!?" There was always someone to tease and play with! "My twin brother is...." Wait. Where WAS Vasco? Eyes scanned the Gryffindor table, before she realized he hadn't been sorted to Gryffindor, and the girl frowned looking towards all the others. She finally spotted him amongst a bunch of blue, and she frowned even deeper. Why would the hat have sorted them differently? That seemed a mistake. Before she could get up to move to go drag him to the CORRECT table though, Sia was sliding into the seat across from her and Vera refocused her gaze. At least bestie was here. And they WERE in the same house together. "We both got Gryffindor! But did you see Vas is in a different house?" Could she explain to her how that was a THING? |
Finn was excited for the new Gryffindors joining the table. The more the merrier, in his opinion!! He smiled brightly each time the hat announced a new housemate, clapping loudly and occasionally cheering out loud as well. He remembered how terrifying it had been to be sorted, to not know if he'd end up with either of his sisters, and how old the older students looked. So he wanted to look friendly and happy and welcoming! But then everybody had been sorted, and the headmaster was standing up to talk. That meant, it was almost time for food! He clasped his hands on the table, staring at his plate while he listened. Oh, they had a new head of house. That was nice, he supposed. He liked most of the professors. They were nice, he supposed. And new professors was exciting too. What was really exciting, though? Part of the school being off-limits. That was suspicious. He glanced around at his housemates, his eyebrows raised so that they were nearly hidden by his red hair. Were they curious too? He was less so interested in the dance. Though, he supposed that would be fun to attend. Maybe. |
