 Once you've given The Fat Lady the correct password, you'll enter the Gryffindor common room. On one side of the room is the game corner. At the back of the room are two spiral staircases leading to the dormitories: boys to the left, girls to the right. Two lion statues sit on either side of each staircase. Don't forget to give them a pat before heading to bed; you're sure to get a roar or a purr in return!
The circular space is decorated in the signature Gryffindor colors of scarlet and gold, and there are plenty of plush armchairs, sofas, and beanbags for lounging. The room's most prominent feature is a fireplace; over its mantel hangs a portrait of a lion. A large portrait of the house's founder Godric Gryffindor adorns the back wall. Several other tapestries and paintings depicting animals and famous Gryffindor alumni decorate the walls - who knows? You may even find some of the famous Harry Potter himself! There are also a few tables in quieter spaces where you can study, read, or write to your heart's content. There's also a plaque and a bulletin board on one side of the room. Don't forget to read up on important announcements!
This room is your home away from home during your time here at Hogwarts. So, relax, take a load off!

Maxine could not believe that here she was sitting in the Gryffindor common room. It was beyond her wildest dreams, she had dreamed of Gryffindor, her father had been here as well, though her mother and older sister were/are Ravenclaw. It would be interesting to see what her younger sisters become as time went on.
But enough about them!!! This was her moment, her chance to take Hogwarts by storm! And she was determined to do it. She was going to be the next Hermonie Granger, the smartest, coolest Gryffindor around, take that check to the bank! Boom!!! ..
.... now if only she could make some friends. She took a look around to see if anyone else was hanging out in the common room.

Well if Apollo could read thoughts, because he literally thought the same thing when he was your age, little one. To make that lasting impression. To be popular. His biggest claim to fame was acting as Michael Darling in Peter Pan, two years ago, and he was pretty sure that was overshadowed and already forgotten about. Did his other Darling siblings even REMEMBER him? So uh, yea... moments change in the blink of the eye, and when others steal your spotlight and popularity.
Truth be told, Apollo actually didn't spend too much time in the Gryffindor common room, seeing how most of friends seemed to be in other houses, but here was now and he had to admit it was cozy. Maybe he could get a minion to help with his popularity?
"Hey there. Welcome to Gryffindor." He said casually, taking the seat by the young girl. He wondered how much knowledge she had about the wizarding world. But also, how did one talk about that sort of thing without seeming elitist?

Okay .. she didn't really think she was going to be in Ravenclaw, it was a fleeting thought since her sister was in it, but in her heart of hearts she knew where she belonged. "I'm Maxine, but you can call me Max everyone does." Again .. by everyone she meant her sisters, since she had no real friends yet.

But 11 year old girls did have a tendency to giggle about the most unusual things. "HAHAHA.... umm..." Maxine cleared her throat, and took a deep breath. "Sorry about that, I'm better now! So what are you best friends names then if you named your cat after them."

"Sorry about that, I'm better now! So what are you best friends names then if you named your cat after them." "I'm a fourth year," Apollo said, in a way more defensive tone than necessary. "I mean ... wait... fourth year Ravenclaw... I don't think so. But maybe, I don't think I really know that many ravenclaws in my year." He tried to rack his brain. He knew Maya's siblings were in Ravenclaw, but they weren't fourth years. Maybe the fourth ravenclaws DID only just study.
"Aww, well, don't get too close to me before we go home for holiday then. Wouldn't want you spreading cat hair home." He grinned sheepishly. "There's hypoallergenic animals!?! Is that like ... a muggle thing? I mean, i feel like there are allergy potions that wizards created to help combat the allergies..."
He didn't really understand why she was laughing, but girls were weird, so maybe he didn't want to know. "Isabella Connolly and Aria Valera. Bella and I went to grade school together so she's practically like my sister." He winced thinking again about what she said last year. "And Aria... well i guess she's like a little sister. I mean, our friendship goes back to like our grandmothers, who were in hufflepuff together like a billion years ago." And then the friendship passed onto their mothers and now them. Maybe Aria could be a Gryffindor.
