Sixth-Floor Corridor https://i.postimg.cc/vmGKqgG0/corridor-banner8.jpg It goes without saying that the sixth-floor corridor is a curious one. Several doors can be found along this carpet-lacking hallway that mostly lead to storerooms, a few classrooms, and rooms that are locked for reasons unknown to you. Though the most notable features of the sixth floor are the Transfiguration and Music classrooms and a tapestry covering a long crack in the wall where a mysterious portal had once been. |
for taylor! So. many. rooms. Nerina was nosy so of course she was wandering the halls, casually checking which doors were unlocked. A gentle twist of a door knob here, a little push there. It was the doors that wouldn't open for her that made her pause the longest. Like the one she was currently standing in front of, ear pressed to the wood. She could've sworn she'd heard something inside. She was tempted to knock, but for now she was just listening. |

What was not new, not unexpected, was the familiar sight Gideon happened upon on the sixth floor. It was like something pulled straight from the pages his childhood. Nerina. Where she wasn't supposed to be. Gideon felt pressure, the same one he often saw his father pinch whenever work was exceptionally stressful, mount behind his eyes. And the Slytherin said rather dryly, "What're you doing?" |

”What does it look like I’m doing, Gideon?” She responded quietly because she didn’t want to alert anyone inside that she was snooping. ”I swear I heard something in there.” And she wanted to know what or who was behind the door and what they were doing and what the room was used for. ”Only some of the doors are locked and I’m pretty sure this isn’t an office.” |

At least when it came to his childhood companion. |

”Maybe I’ll figure out if this is some abandoned classroom that’s good for snogging or a broom closet filled with creepy crawly things that are better left alone. Maybe this is a secret meeting place for professors who are having a romance.” She smiled a bit at the thought. The possibilities are endless.” |

Gideon pushed his forearm off the doorframe and started to stride down the corridor. Leaving her be, as she had indelicately insinuated she wanted. "Sounds unlikely, if you ask me," the fifth year threw over his shoulder. "But if you want to get in trouble for poking around where you shouldn't be, I'm sure your parents will be thrilled to get the news." |

Her parents were an interesting pressure point, though, and not one he meant to push. He was only making an observation. His own would be furious with him if he was barely into his new school and got in trouble. Still. He stopped. Because as much as they liked to needle one another, Gideon supposed he could admit they were something close to friends. Or at least workplace proximity partners. "I don't know what they do or don't find pressing, Nerina. That's the whole point. You barely know this school and you're lurking." |
Quote:
”I don’t like that word.” Lurking. It certainly wasn’t a word that should be used in association with her. ”But I’ll allow mousing or slinking...and I’ll stop, even though I was doing it to get to know this school.” Learn her surroundings. Get the lay of the land. The brunette stepped away from the door and smoothed her skirt. What’re you doing up here, anyway?” |

He didn’t even address her word choice. She could pick whichever she liked. It was still synonymous with lurking. Which she was doing. Without question. “I’m trying to sort the stairs,” Gideon admitted. ”They move.” |

"Besides snooping, what are you doing up here?" The fifth year didn't want to talk about the steps anymore. They would continue to plague him and he needed to learn to move past it, otherwise he would spend many an afternoon upset. |
