 The walls in the first-floor corridor are covered in tapestries and, hung over them, are portraits of numerous witches and wizards. Whether you are trying to get to class or are just browsing around, the portraits here will try to start up a conversation with you. If you manage to get on their good side, they'll be willing to reveal secret passageways, share the latest school gossip, and more.
If you have time to spare, definitely go on a brief tangent from whatever it is you are doing. Google Stump is your man to go to if you're looking for answers about the mysteries of the castle; Beaumont Marjoribanks can tell you everything there is to know about gillyweed; and Elizabeth Burke ... well, it would be best to just avoid her for reasons that will be obvious should you strike up a discussion with her about magical blood status. There are other portraits here as well, each with their own unique personalities, and figures from other portraits happen to invade their frames from time to time.
OOC: Please do not role-play for the Portraits.

Stuart had an overwhelming curiosity as to whether or not portraits had enough sentience to get bored or lonely. Why did he wonder this? Because Stewie had a dream where he was a portrait and was far away from Lisa's portrait and that made him sad. Maybe he should learn a little divination and find out what that means. (Although it was clear the dream meant he needed more people in his life besides Lisa, he was just ignoring that obvious meaning.)
He walked toward the portrait hall, eyes on the lookout for anyone willing to talk.

Meda was taking a walk and found herself near the portraits. There were so many portraits she enjoyed stopping to speak with, but today she wasn't looking for any particular framed person and decided to just go an check on all of them.
As she headed down she noticed a few that looked as if they weren't as level as they normally were and looking around she saw a few cracks in the wall above those frames. "Oh dear that isn't good."
It was probably a good reason why those two frames were empty at the time. The poor occupants probably went to find more level ground.

Rayna said, sneaking upon the older woman. "What are you doing?" Rayna abandoned her quest for making it back to the common room when she realized this teacher was just standing there looking at empty frames.
There were lots of crazy people around, but staring at empty frames was something. "You know, no one is there." Rayna pointed out with an exasperated sigh. The eleven year old crossed her arms and titled her head to the side looking at the frames. Was there something there she was missing?

"I'm going to head down this way if you want to come or would you rather look down that side of the corridor?"

Rayna reached into her robes and pulled out a small notebook and her favorite sparkling pink pen. "Okay, we have one missing pretty lady. Long curly brunette hair. With a crown! What kind of crown? What color is it?" Rayna fired off her questions as she took her notes. "You know, I'd love to have a pink crown." She mused to herself. "Young man. How old would you consider a young man?" Rayna asked, looking up at Meda. "My young and your young could be different you know." Rayna continued to scribble in her notebook. "A hat. Does the hat match the green robes?" Rayna asked next. "Oh, and a money sack. Can't forget that." She mumbled to herself.
Rayna looked down the corridor and back to Meda with an unsure look. "I think I'll stick with you. You know, I'm only here right now because I got lost." Rayna pointed out. She wasn't going to tell her Head of House that she was also a bit afraid of getting lost even more.

The portraits watched the two with curiosity, but it was an older woman that cleared her throat at the young girl, "It is not a pink crown, please we don't need her bragging about the color, it is gold and I thought she was over there reading somewhere." The woman pointed down the corridor.

Her young Hufflepuff was full of questions and comments, but Meda was enjoying it. She reminded her of so many Hufflepuffs before her. Meda loved hearing the younger students talk and through the years grow and mature. The one thing she always hoped is they would never lose their spirit.
Before she could answer though a portrait spoke up, "Yes, her crown is gold, a very pretty crown with a few gems if I'm not mistaken." A pink crown would be interesting though, "I think if I could have a crown I would make it teal or blue. Those are my favorites."
Looking towards the portrait she turned the way she was pointing. "Thank you for the help. Do you know what happened to their portraits?" Had someone been playing a trick of some sort? Meda needed to find this out.
"The young man would be in is late twenties maybe. He has little facial hair, but you can tell he is an adult." She wasn't sure of his exact age, but if he was found maybe they could ask him. "Let's head down the corridor to look for the woman first."
