Fourth-Floor Corridor

The fourth floor is the quietest floor in all of Hogwarts. Those who have been here long enough and know the layout know this as an obvious fact because the primary features of this floor are the Library and Study Hall. To soften your steps as you make your way around, a carpet drapes the entire floor of the corridor. Remember to keep your voice at a whisper because there's important studying going on in this part of the castle!

You will find large green vases placed in the corners of the corridor as well as a number of portraits. There really isn't anything exciting about the vases, though Peeves is known to pick them up and throw them at unsuspecting passersby -- it is strongly advised that you always stay alert. As for the portraits, you will likely notice right away that most of them are of peaceful landscapes. Nevertheless, you will eventually come across Brutus Scrimgeour (author of The Beaters' Bible), Hengist of Woodcraft (founder of Hogsmeade), and Edward Rabnott (a wizard with three different personalities).

Summer had decided that she wanted to explore the school, even though she knew about certain things, thanks to her mother going to Hogwarts and having been brought up with friends who's parents had also gone to Hogwarts, Summer was still sure she could find out something new about the school, even her mother had said she had wished they went their longer.

Summer stopped on the fourth floor corridor, it was amazing now all she had to do was figure out what was on this floor, like seriously they should explain different things. "Hello, anyone here know where anything is?" Summer shouted, she had no idea why.

Maxine was late for a very important date! And by that she meant that she was late for a meal, which is the only important date she cared much about. Minding her own business (which she rarely does) she was making her way to the great hall, she passed corridor on the 4th floor and heard a voice choice? Doing a double take and looking down the hall she saw another girl. She had to be a first year as well, and as she got closer, it was face that she recognized that belong to her own house .. but what was her name again?

"The Great Hall is this way .. that's about all I know." She added motioning which way was the best to go. "Your in Gryffindor right? I'm Maxine, but you can call me Max, everyone else does." Why in the name of Merlin did she always say that. She had no friends that called her Max, the only people who did were her sisters.

Summer hadn't expected someone to answer back and so she jumped a little as another girl spoke, she had seen the other student at the feast and she had been sorted into Gryffindor as well, now though she had no idea what her name was until she said it. "Hi Max, I'm Summer!" She gave the other student a smile.

"My mother came to the school when she was a child with her sisters, they were triplets." Summer thought that was funny and she also thought it was amazing. "So now I'm just looking around, seeing if it's true they have secret tunnels." Summer then thought about something. "Want to join me exploring?" Summer thought it would be cool to join forces with a fellow first year Gryffindor.

"Nice to meet you Summer, you have a very pretty name" Maxine always seemed to love names, she kept a running list of her favorites, whenever she wrote stories she would use them as her character names. "Merlin's Beard, your mom is a triplet?" Wowza, not going to lie, that sounded kind of awful to Max, but then again, "My younger sisters are twins, they aren't identical though." She tended to babble... like a lot.

My sister is a 4th year in Ravenclaw, she said she's been through a few secret passage ways, all though, I'm not sure I believe her, she's not the adventurous type." It's true, Vera preferred the theoretical version of things rather than the actual doing. Once again proving why she was in Ravenclaw and Maxine was in Gryffindor.

"OO, I'd love to explore!!!" Exploring was a sure fire way to have some fun.

Summer giggled at Maxine's reaction, it was the same of most she had met. "Sorry, I didn't mean to seem rude then, but I love it more presents at Christmas see, and if I get annoyed with my mum, I just tell Auntie AJ and she lets me do it." Summer had heard her mother and auntie AJ argue a lot about her. "I don't get to see my auntie abby much, I have no idea why though."

"Oh well if we explore we can search all over the school and then we can let your older sister know about them and maybe even try and get her to explore with us." "Do you have any siblings, I have 5 sisters." Maxine kind of said it with a sigh because he house was crazy like 100% of the time, but also she loved her sisters more than life itself and wouldn't trade them for the world. She had missed Vera so much when she went of to Hogwarts, but now misses her youngers sisters the same.

"I suppose, we have a few aunts and uncles to, but mostly it just us." With a big family it was hard to travel anywhere, and their house was so small with the 8 of them already that having people come and visit was nearly impossible.

"Have you heard of any secret tunnels in this corridor?" Maxine wracked her brain trying to think of where Vera had mentioned passage ways before, or where she had read about them. "Do you ever wonder if new secret passageway get made?" Like how did such a tunnel get created, like maybe her and Summer could make their own??

Summer smiled. "I'm lucky, I just have a couple of younger sisters, neither of them old enough to come to Hogwarts yet, one's eight and the other is four!" Summer added. "There's Ashley and Rose!" Summer still liked her name the best it was just so wonderful.

"My mother says secret passages can be anywhere, so I was just looking around." Summer went over to a wall and knocked on it. "Doesn't seem like there's one here though." Summer walked back over to Maxine, just in time to here what her new friend had said.

"Oh I do, I always wonder if I could create one!" Summer looked around to make sure no one was listening. "Like I was thinking, if I go to the library will there be a book I can find any information on secret tunnels."
