There is a sign hanging outside the DADA classroom, under the rules and near the homework board.

"Attention Students! If you are interested in joining a Defense organization established by Professor Rae, please read the following:

Professor Rae will be meeting during the course of the term with students who would like to begin their Defense training. Subject matter will include a variety of spells and skill sets that are included in actual Auror training.

If you are interested, please PM the professor and she will add your name to the member list. Points will be given to those members who manage to practice and master these spells and skills, and at the end of the term, those who earn enough points will be rewarded with a medal and the title of Auror-in-Training."

*As Nadia casts the spell, Lina lifts up her wand and shouts "PROTEGO". A small glowing shield shoots out from the tip of her wand, and Nadia's spell bounces off*

I think I need to work on getting a larger shield, but at least it worked! *smiles* Ok, now your turn!

*Gets ready and points her wand at Nadia*

Nadia opposes her wand to Lina, vertically, and so that the spell is at 90 grades from the ground, and shouts, "Protego!"

The spell bounces and, as planned, is re-directed to Lina... It was as if they were playing pin-pon with the spells!

Professor Rae stands a good distance away from me and shouts expelliarmus.
A second before it hits I say "PROTEGO," and it seems to work. I stubble back just a step but stay on my feet. Proffessor does it once more and this time I shout "PROTEGO" and then the spell bounces off completly.

After Andrew casts his Progeto spell, smiled and casted another expelliarmus spell towards Riiya. She then waved her wand in a strict manor and shouted, "PROGETO!"

a light blue oval smoke was formed. when the expelliarmus hit the oval smoke, it seemed that it bounced off it as if it was rubber and shot up towards the ceiling. the impact of of the expelliarmus on the progeto had pushed Riiya off her feet. she landed hard on her bottom...

"auueeii..." she said as landed on the hard floor...

Aschere waits Professor Rae to come round to her. As she sees the Professor pointing her wand at her, Aschere whips out her wand, ready to defend herself.
"...

..." WHAT was the spell agai... "Oof!" Aschere ended up on the floor, winded, and her wand flew out of her hand as the spell hit her.
"Protego. Protego, Protego!" she muttered to herself grumpily as she bent double, searching the floor for her wand.

*Adam yells "Protego!" as someone hits an Expelliarmus curse at him. This time the Shield Charm is effective and his wand stays in his hand.*

Eric tried to stay calm as the Professor made her way towards him. Quickly, he took out his wand and yelled, "PROTEGO!". The shield shattered but the spell was absorbed, not injuring him. He breathed a sigh of relief.

After Riiya falls to the ground Andrew stops and walks foward offending his hand to help her up. "That was a good exchange. Rapid fire is like a real duel would be. Sorry, about the force behind my spell, I didn't mean to use that much."

Andrew picks up Riiya wand, that had dropped to floor, "Here's your wand."

They move back to their position and continue to practice. Riiya hits Andrew with a disarming that he is slow in blocking and his wand flys several feet from him across the room. Andrew without pause dives for the wand and shoots "Expelliarmus" back at her almost as soon as he has the wand back in his hand.

Serena practiced drawing her wand quickly as Professor Rae came closer... then it was her turn. "Expelliarmus" shouted Professor Rae pointing her wand at Serena as she shouted in return, "Protego!" "Wow, Professor, I've never used that one before and it really does work! I did it!" :whisle:
Serena continued to practice hoping to strenghthen her shield charm even more.

Prof. Rae comes close and yells Expelliarmus. Sonam stands
ready and shouts Protego concentrating and hoping her spell will work.

Sonam's wand shot out of her hand. She sighs frustrated but picks it up and rubs it with her robes. She holds it up at the ready again and stares determined at the Professor. She yells I]Expelliarmus[/I] as I yell Protego. This time my spell works. Satisfied I sit back down for a little rest.

"Thanks, GC," Aschere grins reluctantly. Shaking her head vigorously, as if to shake out any remaining cobwebs, she grins a little wider. "Sure - partners then. Why don't I cast the Disarming spell at you first - maybe I'll get the Shield spell a little better after a bit of a break!"
Aschere takes a few staps backwards and brings out her wand. "Ready...? EXPELLIARMUS!"

Aschere: Okay...*take a few steps back and turn around violently as if she was going to fall*Jelly Legs!!!

Aschere: *moves away from her previous spot to avoid being hit by the spell*
Geraldine: Wow!!That was fun!Lets try again!Your turn now....*sees Aschere put her wand down and takes her by surprise*

As Geraldine Chang nods, Aschere readies herself. She could do this...
"tarantagella!" Geraldine shouts.
"Protego!" Aschere had raised her wand and blocked the spell squarely. She didn't manage to deflect it totally, but it missed her all the same. "Oh, yay! I did it!" she laughs.

Andrew and Riiya continue to practice each time they take to move from one spell to another quicker. Readiness is a valid key and they want to be able to handle several shielding charms in a row.

Riiya moves quickly to her left and hit Andrew squarely her Disarming Charm and he trips as he attempts to block it and lands with a thud on the floor and his wand several feet away.

"That was a great spell, Riiya. Good Job!"
