| | Professor Phoenix sat at her desk in the greenhouse, busily scribbling on a piece of parchment. She looked up shortly when the first students entered and flashed them a small smile, waiting for the rest to appear. |

Takes her quill and begins writing about the whomping willow, then realizes what am i doing this for. lol Her older brother sirius told her about the whomping willow and all his encounters with it. She gets a little sad thinking about her brother.

"Oh, and five points to Gryffindor." OOC: I must now get offline for the day, it's late here where I live. Note that I will go through all the posts tomorrow, and anybody that stepped out of line WILL receive detention / lose house points, depending on what was done. Again, no chatting while I am offline, please! You can continue answering my question, but shouldn't post just for the sake of it, mkay? "Well, let me try my knowledge...
The Whomping Willow is species superficially resembling the willow, this large, violent tree attacks anyone who gets too close. The trunk is very flexible, so when encountering you have to be extra careful about not only its branches but the immense trunk as well. The Hogwarts Whomping Willow was planted the year Remus Lupin came to Hogwarts as a student, because of him being a werewolf. It happens that the Whomping Willow was disguising the entrance to a hidden passageway - a tunnel under the Whomping Willow - which connects to the Shrieking Shack, Remus Lupin was using the Shack as his hideabout and so not to hurt anyone else. The Whomping Willow serve its purpose, keeping people away, but just in case it was forbidden to student to approach at that time. There is a particular knot, yes, that can be pressed to stop the Whomping Willow from attacking you, and I can tell it's the one in the very base of the trunk, I err... try stunning that same knot and succeded." Nadia smiles guiltily. "I can also say spells from defending against humans -or humanoid creatures- won't work, because of it being too massive. The Petrificus Totalus won't work, for example... Hope that's alright, professor?"
Nadia finished quite lamely, hoping they wouldn't find it too weird that she knew so many things about the Whomping Willow...

" The whomping willow is also able to flinng it's whole body at one place. The whomping williow iis to be said as flexable as rubbee. The whomping wiyllow is also very aggressive it does not like andything comig to close to it or it will try to smash it. It also spin its trunk 180 degrees. This tree is said to be one of themost violent trees. This tree shall not stop attacking you no matter what unless you touch the knot or you stunn its it wont stop attcking you if you dont do either of thouse. The only way to stop it is to back away or stunn its by a spell or the knot. This tree is also very delicate if you try sneeking up on it it shall still sence you because its brances and roots are a sencing device. BUt the branches can still attack you. "

Jill raised her hand once more.
"Professor, how many limbs does the Whomping Willow have, and is it at its highest maturity since its been here at Hogwarts for so long?"

| Quote: "I think i read that the whomping willow smashed everything because some one put a spell on it that when ever something get close to it it smashes it is the true professor? " "Yes, indeed, there is a spell on the Whomping Willow. It was meant as a precaution--as you have heard from your classmates, it was planted a few decades back, to keep students from the secret passageway that leads to the Shrieking Shack." Quote: Zekke quietly scrawled some notes about the Whomping Willow.
"Is the Whomping Willow as dangerous in its seedling form as it is in its mature form?" Zekke asked after raising his hand. "No, as a small plant, it is simply a willow. Otherwise, if it were in the plants' genes, we'd have Whomping Willows growing all around, imagine the mess! It is enchanted, and therefore perfectly normal as a seedling." Quote: Jill raised her hand.
"This is a combination of questions," she said. "How exactly do you reach the knot at the base of the tree without coming across an array of angry branches, and how many branches and/or tangled branches does the Whomping Willow have?" "To answer your first question: I will do that part, so you needn't worry about it," Professor Phoenix grinned. "For the second: I have no idea." She laughed. "I didn't really count them, but I think we should be able to get it all done in a good hour." Quote: "What would be the wand movement for the Imobulus spell?" "Unfortunately, we won't be needing that spell anyway, as it is not strong enough." Quote: Jill raised her hand once more.
"Professor, how many limbs does the Whomping Willow have, and is it at its highest maturity since its been here at Hogwarts for so long?" "Again, never counted. But as far as I know, willows can become pretty old, and as this one has a kind of magical reinforcement, I dare say it will be around to bother us for quite a long amount of time."

i'm really sorry but what are we doing? Victoria smiles at the boy then whispers, "Right now we're discussing the Whomping Willow. It has tangled it's branches, and as soon as the Professor says, we're supposed to go and help untangle the branches." She sighs, a little confused herself, but that seemed to be the gist of it.

"Question Proffesor. Does the Whomping Willow still serve an important purpose? Even though Remus Lupin is no longer at Hogwarts?"

| "Yes," Professor Phoenix said, "We still have it here to keep students away from the Shrieking Shack.
"We now know what to expect. A highly aggressive, angry, hurt willow tree, with branches that are broken or tangled up. Nonetheless, although the Whomping Willow is hurt, she will attack, in a desperate attempt to defend herself.
"But we'll get through that. Now, first, I want to make sure everybody knows his or her job. To be able to approach the tree, I will activate the knot on the trunk of the Whomping Willow—it will then freeze for a certain amount of time, I think a good 45 seconds—"
Professor Phoenix stopped when several groans were heard.
"Yes, yes, I know, it's not very much. But let me finish first. I will activate the knot, and then another student will slip in to the knot and stay there permanently, pressing it whenever the tree comes into motion. Any volunteers?" she asked. "You will probably have the safest job of all, but also the most important that will set us all into danger should you fail."

Jerri raises her hand "Professor I can help untangle the tree if you like. I am quite skilled at climbing trees and I am quick. But could I possibly go to the hospital wing first please? Just quickly before we go I really hurt my leg today when I slipped on some water in the girls bathroom. I didn't go yet because I didn't want to miss class. It is quite swollen and kind of black looking. I actually can't walk very well. But if I can get it fixed up now I am sure I will be able to help the class with the Womping Willow. If you would rather I wait that is ok too the pain seems to have gone away. Actually there really is no feeling anymore."

Didymus looked at Jerri concernedly and then turned to Professor Phoenix.
"Professor,I'll do anything you need.Although I'm not too good with knots if they're too tight."

Sophie laughs at Didymus openly.
"She doesn't mean that kind of knot! She means the kind of knobbly bit on a tree, which is called a knot, rather than a knot in some rope or something!" She said mockingly.

I'll do stunning or knot pressing, but I can't climb worth squat, but I'm quick with spells, so I'd definetly prefer to stun. :sorcerer:

(Make sure you read through the posts when you come back, so you know what's going on).
"Thanks for the volunteers, by the way. HermioneGranger19, I don't mean to snub you or anything since you raised your hand first, but you're a first year, and I'd like to have all first years do some 'hands-on' work...on the plant itself. Don't worry, the knots aren't that tight that nobody could losen them.
"Thank you, I_AM_LORD_VOLDEMORT. You will see when you have to press the knot, because it will wriggle for a second before setting the whole tree into motion again. I'll give you some last-minute instructions when we get there, though," Professor Phoenix nodded, giving I_AM_LORD_VOLDEMORT a small smile.
"Now for the rest: First of all, I want you to team up in groups of two, and two only. In these groups, I want one student that can master both Stupefy and Enervate, and one student—perhaps a first or second year—that will then untangle the branches, and bandage them if necessary. Please get together to pairs now."

(Looks around at the assembled group. Since he knew the required spells, all he needed to to was...find a partner. Hooray. He was prepared to do things on his own, as he was used to doing, but he accepted that the current situation required an extra pair of hands.)
