"Alright dears. We're having our first lesson. Now, since this isn't a class and we don't have a set curriculum, I wanted to let you all decide what you want to learn here. I already have a list of requests, and I would like you all to add to this." Nurse Nostale takes out a sheet of Parchment and posts it on the wall. It reads: - Memory Loss Potions
- Pepperup Potion
- Cure
- for boils
- Cure for Dragon Pox
- wound-cleaning spell
"After we have a longer list I will know where to begin. Does anyone have any questions?" OOC: Yes, I know that the Hospital Wing is gone. One of the Admins accidentally deleted it. It will be back tomorrow. Hopefully. |

*raise* "Ah, but professor, we have already covered the Deflating Draft and the Swelling Solution in the last two Potion lessons  Could you give us something else? I can give you ideas maybe."
ooc: plus the things you said about the swelling and srinking potions kinda contradicts what it's said in the Potion lesson, so to avoid confussions... sorry for being a pain. Edit by Ness: ACK! Ok. No prob. This is why I'd be a bad Potions teacher...

ooc: not a problem just clearing it out. As I said before I can give ideas on what to study
"I think I would like to study the Peper Up Potion for fighting common cold; I tried to brew it myself to get ride of a feever but -" she stops and sighs. "Thats didn't work too well. Professor Airlia can give you the details." She looks kind of drained all of the sudden. "Also the cure for boils, for Dragon Pox... I'm sure other professors can help us in that area: Potions, Herbolody, DADA, Chamrs and Transiguration are a must-do for all interested in becoming healers, right?"

"I would like to learn the wound-cleaning potion. I dont know how difficult it would be but it sure would come in handy. When I was little my older brother fell of his broom and got this really nasty cut. My mom fixed it up with this stuff she got from work it seemed to work pretty fine."

"I have issues with hurting my self on my broom-I have a short attention span. Any ways, I would like to learn how to help my cuts and scrapes I get. And if its possible-help me get a longer attention span!!!"

"Alright students, looks like we have a good list to start with, and I have a few ideas of my own. So let's start from the top, shall we?" Nurse Nostale took a seat on a comfy-looking cushion on the floor and gestured for the others to do the same. "Now, a Memory Spell, or obliviate is used to modify a person's memory. We use it quite often when Muggles see a dragon or some such thing. Depending on how many of a person's memories were modified, the spell cannot be undone." She checks the list, "Ah yes, the Pepper-up Potion. You may know a student or two that has gotten one of these from me. If so, you'll know that the potion causes the person's ears to spit steam for at least an hour afterwards. This potion is used to counteract the affects of the Common Cold. Unfortunately, you'd have to come directly to me for this cure. Or perhaps our Potions Mistress would be able to asisst you as well." She checked back at the list once more, "The cure for boils is relatively simple: you need dried nettles, crushed snake fangs, stewed horned slugs, and porcupine quills. You then drink the potion, which I must say is dreadfully unpleasant, and the boils clear up almost immediately, though spots may linger for up to a day. Dragon Pox, on the other hand, are incredibly nasty. Let's just say that large, green pustules all over one's body cannot be enjoyable. If one of you were to come down with this affliction, which is highly unlikely I daresay, I would send you off to St. Mungo's immediately; they have an entire floor devoted to curing Dragon Pox." Checking her list once more, "Ah, yes, the wound-cleaning potion. This potion includes ingredients such as ground moonstone and shrivelfig. You may purchase a small amount from the Apothecary. I do have a useful little spell for cleaning wounds that may help you. Give your wand a sort of," she demonstrated in a flick-flick-swish manner, "and say scourgify. Mind you, it won't feel pleasant, but the wound will stay free of infection long enough for you to some here and see me. Any questions so far?"

Nadia nodds and takes notes - at the mentioning of the Dragon Pox disease she raises her hand.
"I know Dragon Pox has quite it's history itself. I know a Quidditch match to be psponed because of an epidemy, and I know it's been practically erradicated. Gunhilda of Gorsemoor (1556 - 1639), a famous, talented and harworking healer was the one who developed the cure for Dragon Pox. We have a statue of her in Hogwarts, commonly known as the one-eyes, hump-backed witch. And I once saw a pisture of a person infected -" *shudder* "Not a happy sight...
"And well, giving I have been making some research on the subject, I know the Pepper Up potion to have been invented by Glover Hipworth, and I know one of the principal ingredients is -" *involuntary shudder* "... ashwinder eggs.
"Just very few potions and spells have some utility in Healing, don't they? Mmh... I do have a question: What's the difference between a Medi-Wizard and a Healer? I've been told that the Healers are alike muggle nurses, but I'm not sure that's accurate..."

Nurse Nostale gave Nadia a look of surprise, "My! You have come prepared! 3 Points for Slytherin. Yes, Dragon Pox are a nasty business. And, like you said, they've almost been eradicated which is why I sincerely doubt any of you will come down with it in your lifetimes." she stared around the room. "Yes, ashwinder eggs are used in a variety of potions, including the Pepper-Up. While many of the potions themselves are not dangerous, the ingredients used to make them are, so this is why I cannot encourage that you make your own. On the contrary, very many potions and spells can be used in Healing. For example, I used the Reductor Curse on a patient just this morning. Poor thing's mouth was swollen..." she regained her train of thought. "Ah yes, the difference between a Mediwizard and a Healer. Mediwizards are more accustomed to emergency Medical Magic, whereas Healers work more closely with the patients. Healers are similar to Muggle Nurses, but are more highly skilled. It takes many years to become a competent Healer. Mediwizards are required to be able to think and act quickly, and once the patient is stable, they are turned over to Healers. They are very much like Muggle paramedics." She looked at her notebook and thought for a moment, "Alright, the next thing I'd like to discuss is the reviving spell, or Ennervate. This is very useful when someone is unconscious, as so often happens at this school...well now, you all know how to perform this spell I trust? Or do we need to practice?"

| "Ennervate spell is really simple. It can be sucessful in only one try. So most of us don't professor but there might be first years, who wish to practice." *Cordelia said, looking around the classroom. |

"Alright. That concludes our first meeting. Well done all." she gave a small round of applause. "Now, your assignment for the week will be to practice the spell-stopper, Finite Incantatem, and write half a scroll of parchment on the famous Healer of your choce. Our next meeting hasn't been scheduled yet, but I will post a note on the bulletin board as soon as I set the date. Have a wonderful rest of the week!"

*nods* "OK, see you next time. Not earlier if lucky =P I wouldn't like spending too much time in the Hospital Wing... at least not by having something wring with me - oh, dear, I talk as if poisoned by a blabbing potion. See you next meeting then, Nurse Nostale."
*takes her things and she's out thought the door*
