Professor Rae opened the door to her classroom and went first to the window. The weather was wet, dark, and gloomy, and she was glad they were spending the day inside, instead of wasting a beautiful afternoon like the previous class period. She pulled the drapes closed across the window, shutting out the dark sky, before turning and lighting all the candles in the room with a wave of her wand. They winked cheerily, but it was still a bit gloomy.
With another wave, the professor moved all the desks to the back of the room and replaced those seats with squishy poofs and cushions reminiscent of her days in Professor Trelawney's classroom. At last, she laughed to herself, she had found a real use from those long hours.She turned to her desk and whisked it clean of the cluttered paperwork before perching on top of it to wait for her students. | |

Kay looks at Professor Rae, tears forming in her eyes as she remembers the trouble Voldemortist has caused. She wipes the tears away and looks down at her parchment, furiously scribbling down some notes, hoping that the painful memories would fade.

"like mentioned it causes pain to people, if a person is under the curse for too long, it can begin to corrupt their mind, and make them turn to insanity, they will no longer be able to fend for themselves and can be sent to St. Mungoes. for example what happened to the Longbottoms, they were totured to insanity by the Crucius curse."

I've heard it described as every nerve ending feels like its on fire, and I think that's fairly accurate. The curse doesn't cause any damage physically, although a person can get hurt in the convulsions that often accompany it, and Feesha brought up an excellent point... sadly, many wizards and witches have gone mad from prolonged exposure to Cruciatus."
