I'm pretty sure a pogrebin is a creature that makes the person feel hopeless until the human collapses. When it does, the pogrebin eats them.

Theodore's face appears flush with the ceiling, he likes to look in on the first classes of the Professors. He's looking for students who are cheating, or talking to one another, it is afterall a big task for a Professor to watch the entire class. He smiles at Professor Rae's handling of the ambition of the class with their list of Dark Creatures noting that House Ghosts didn't make the list. He decides to just continue to observe what's going on for a while longer.......
