 Looking for a bit of fun? Well, you've come to the right place! The game corner is where you'll find shelves full of board and card games, both magical and muggle. There's a wizards chess set and a few decks of exploding snap and some magical playing cards. To the right of the corner is a Foosball table modified to simulate a game of Quidditch. Just use your wand to guide the players where you want them to go!
Along the walls you'll see a Pinball machine as well as a Skee Ball machine and a few video games there for your enjoyment. Just like the Foosball table, they are all controlled by magic. Happy playing, and remember: it's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game!

You know who likes games? Vines do! These vines specifically. Yes, no need to head to the great outdoors, now the great outdoors is coming to you and what splendidly beautiful fun! The vines resemble those seen out at the front gates of the school. The ones everyone could swear they helped remove but they always seemed to return. Doesn't matter though, not when they look so pretty.

You know you did not like vines? Atlas Flamsteed. Hate may be too strong a word, but he was not particularly fond of them. Especially when they were messing with the pinball machine that he had grown an attachment to. He had come to expect invasive vines whenever he went to visit Auntie Jade and Auntie June's place but expecting and enjoying were two very different things.
And the last place he expected to see a bunch of vines was in the Gryffindor Tower. Had these things scaled the castle wall and come in through the window?! What even...
"Oi! Tendrils off the machine!" the third year barked as he stomped over to his precious pinball pastime and attempted to pull some vines right on off the machine. Actually...what was he doing? He could use magic here! "Diffindo!"
At least it hadn't been a Bombarda.

Atlas was already here.
She paused for a moment (or several), just watching as he shouted at the game machines. Kins wasn't daft; she knew that Atlas didn't like her very much... He wasn't her favorite either though because he always made her feel all the terrible ways. But. But she wasn't trying to cause any scenes. Or to upset people. Or to draw attention to herself. Or or or. So. Except. If she just walked away now, it might give him more reason to dislike her and she didn't really want to do that either. "I kind of like them." Because you know who had no strong opinion regarding vines? Kinsay James. They were kind of useless most of the time, but she did think these ones were pretty and worth protecting. Long live vine.
She reached out to touch one of the leaves at the end opposite to the one Atlas was trying to destroy. Vine decor really made the common room more lively.

There was always shouting in the Gryffindor Common. At least, it felt like there was always yelling in the common room. Someone hurling a spell for show or retaliation, children convincing themselves the floor was lava, a creature or three that had no business being there. Yes, there was usually something going on in here.
It was for this reason that the headmaster didn't immediately react when he heard someone--Flamsteed?--casting over in the game corner.
Then he remembered they were inside, with several others and that students had a habit of being on the wrong side of spells even when they weren't actively trying to be. Gray eyes moved over in time to see the flash of light and...vines.
Again?
Merlin's beard, this is getting bothersome." The Headmaster said, approaching the pair by the pinball machine. "You cut one and three more seem to grow." If he remembered correctly, it had been only a few nights ago he'd come to check on the lions after curfew to find the vines creeping in through the window. A quick bout of diffindo had him thinking the matter was solved but apparently not.
"Beginning to think this cutting charm isn't making much difference." He considered aloud, seeing this as the boy's first plan of action.

Kinsay James WOULD be the sort to do the exact thing he did on the daily like something just because someone they were not fond of disliked the thing. Atlas could recognize that! Meanwhile he just wanted his pinball machine back, please. Vines were creepy.
Casting Aries' dream girl an accusatory kind of glance before the headmaster appeared and spared both little lions further dubious verbal exchanges. "Really?" The third year's tone was a bit too gleeful sounding for the bleak tone the headmaster was putting out. "Like a hydra!? That's some impressive regenerative properties." But then his excitement faded slightly when it was pointed out how useless futile his attempts were.
As if the Gryffindor needed more reminders of his magical inadequacies.
"...it would if you did it closer to the roots," he grumbled under his breath. Somewhere Auntie June Professor Flamsteed was proud of him for paying attention. "Severing Charm at the roots."

Atlas' mean looks were nothing out of the ordinary, but they still made Kins feel some type of way... which she tried not to show. But. She wasn't very good at hiding her emotions no matter how hard she tried to. And it really didn't help that the next person to appear was Headmaster Trent.
Terrified of him? After all this time? Yes. Always.
She wasn't sure which was worse - being ignored or being called out, but either way, she didn't really want to stick around long enough to find out. Kins could tell her presence wasn't wanted here anyway. So as the two chatted about the vines, she sort of just took a few steps back, until she could turn around to find another corner of the common room to occupy instead.

"Thrilling as I suppose that would be, Hogwarts could certainly do without one of those." Even on their better days. Too many students opted out of common sense making the more dangerous things....extra dangerous.
"Last I saw these vines, they went into the ground. We'll have to begin digging our way through the grounds if this continues. Find the plant and get rid of it." The sooner the better. "For now. James, hang on there." The man caught her escaping from the corners of his eyes and sought to get her before she left entirely.
"It would be good to get rid of the ones here--temporary as the solution seems to be. Will you help me and Flamsteed with the severing? We'll start with these here then search the common room for any more." [/COLOR]

Unaware that Kinsay James had her own anxieties about the headmaster (hey look, they had something in common!), Atlas was likewise mostly unaware that the older lioness was trying to dip out.
But, for real, maybe they should bond over suspicions regarding their head of house and headmaster because BOY did this blonde have a TON. Particularly in light of several conversations he had had with Nemesis Upstead AND in PARTICULAR the last conversation they had had together in correlation with what Atlas had observed in terms of interactions with his own eyes!
But anyway. Vines. Vines sucked. They were trying to tear apart his favorite pinball machine!
Sighing heavily, Atlas' eyes crossed as he lifted his wand in front of his face and held it close enough so the tip touched his nose. "Don't suppose...you happen to have some shears with you, headmaster," Atlas asked the man sheepishly, already expecting a bit of a reprimand. Performance issues were often a thing when others were watching, if that was not apparently already. "We should keep some samples from the severed bits instead of just throwing them in the compost too. Figure out the biology of the plant."
Couldn't hurt, right? Had done so with the lake water.

Nem had contributed to Kinsay's dislike of Headmaster Trent too. So maybe she and Atlas should talk about it together. Except. Except Kins probably wouldn't strike up a conversation with Atlas on her own accord. Those hadn't ever gone well in the past and she was really trying to lay low this year.
But laying low would have been MUCH easier if the Headmaster had just let her back away unnoticed.
But, instead, he had to call her back! Which was so horribly rude and Kinsay had to fight the frown that was trying to make it onto her face. She didn't want to help with the vines because she didn't want to attempt magic in front of Atlas Flamsteed, who would probably laugh at her if her magic went awry. She already felt small enough, she didn't need any extra reminders. But because she was also very much afraid of saying no, she nodded anyway. "Sure," she'd help. Even though she really, really, REALLY didn't want to.
Which is why, she was actually very much hoping that Headmaster Trent DID have shears with him.
...................
Wait ... Was Atlas taking a jab at her? Is that why he asked?
