| Term 58: May - August 2021 Term Fifty-Eight: Have Some Bread (Sept 2104 - June 2105) |

| | Staff Table On a raised dais situated at the farthest point of the Great Hall stands a long table where the members of the Hogwarts staff sit and enjoy their meal while casting a watchful eye out on the four House tables. Each staff member has an assigned, cushioned chair to sit on throughout the duration of the feast, though the more notable out of them all is the throne-like golden chair in the centre reserved for the headmaster.
Keep in mind that you should not be wandering up to the staff table if you are not a staff member before Headmaster Trent has delivered his speech. Doing so will result in the loss of points or worse before you've even made it an hour into the term. If you wish to speak with someone seated up here, you will have to wait until after the speech has been said and there is food and drink on all of the tables. Make sure to keep your visit brief though -- the staff were also waiting on the food to appear and are just as hungry as you.

| doesn't proofread tweets | #wrongaboutcereal | #siriusly? | emo to the extremo Finneas Schmoe was, indeed, back at Hogwarts for another year and he looked just as tired as he had last time he sat at this dais. The summer holiday was...... not (big sigh) the relaxing one he had hoped for after the events of the previous term. Maybe he'd get to rest now that he was back at Hogwarts? HA! A Schmoe can dream. Everything was fine. hE wAs FiNe.
In fact, he put the FIN(N)E in Finneas.
Er. Anyway, ANYWAY, AnYwAy. Schmoe really was ready for the school year to begin so that he could think about lesson plans and learning and, uh, not a failed 13 year relationship. Also. He was wearing his favorite pair of loafers, so there were good omens all around. It'd be a good year, he could feel it in his toes. A quiet year at Hogwarts. He was manifesting it.
Donned in strange, electric blue robes (which did not entirely compliment the bright orange bow tie around his neck), the noodle-man played with his fidget spinner as he waited for his colleagues to arrive and for the sorting to begin. He was still a little twitchy, but perhaps it would take a lifetime for the effects of 7 simultaneous crucios to wear off. Ha. Finneas? Who would've thought? ALAS. He was a little self conscious about it all to be honest, but er... It was the least of his worries now. Schmoe had other things to focus on. Namely, keeping a promise to one of his former students.
So despite the fidget spinner in his hands, he'd be paying attention. There was someone he was meant to look out for.

| Lovely™ | Captain Hurted | Ariana's Bane | Resident Antagonist | Unparalleled Delight Perhaps the strangest part of this new scene was that it was not that new at all. It had been thirty-odd years since Kamran had been at one of these feasts, or even in this room, though never on this side of the staff table. He had enough experience of Hogwarts feasts to know what to expect, even after this long, and had had a quick snack to take the edge off the hunger before even setting out for the Great Hall. Then there were the students, whom Kamran sat quietly and observed as they found their places; with what many of them had been through, he could only guess vaguely at what to expect from them, especially in response to himself and the other new faces at the table. He was well-prepared for wariness, and suspicion.
From his assigned seat, Kamran became aware of the Muggle Studies professor a few chairs down, with that spinner of his. Kamran said nothing of it - he'd known a lot of twitchy, fidgety types, the kind who functioned best when their hands were occupied - but every now and then he ended up watching the motion of the spinner out of the corner of his eye. After a minute or two, he realised he was absentmindedly nudging his dinner knife around in a circle on the table, and abruptly stopped.
Clearing his throat, Kamran straightened, paused a moment, then leaned back in his chair to look past the seats between them. Seemed marginally more polite to greet that way than down the table. Unless it wasn't. "Evening, Finneas."
The bowtie was... a choice.

| curly haired prefect - "sometimes I get angry!" - 30/90 - *chicken emoji* - probably @ Disney - I speak dog Another year, another new face (or a few in this case) at the staff table with them. It felt good to be back, despite the events of last year. Did her shiny new title have anything to do with this? Well. A little. But mostly, she was excited to get back to a NORMAL routine at the school. No cults. No vanishing students. No ghosts bent on revenge for stolen treasures. Just...peace.
A girl could hope, right? "Hello Finneas," Gabi said with a small smile as she approached the table, taking a seat next to the new flying instructor. What a shame. She had really liked Camillo. "Good evening - Gabriela Recard, History of Magic and Deputy Headmistress," she introduced herself to the man. He probably knew that already, yes?

| Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right. It all felt rather strange. It was new and different and certainly it would be the last time he would ever need to feel this again.
He ran his tongue over his front tooth. Yes, just the one. First Feast back at Hogwarts and he would have to do with with a missing front tooth. Don't Ask.
It's just his luck. Ridiculous Punching Telescope got him right in the mouth. The School Nurse wouldn't happen to carry a bottle of Skele-Gro on them would they? Who was the School Nurse? Oakey felt he would need to familiarize himself with them. He hoped he would not need to see them often, but...just in case.
No Hello's yet.
He was a bit to embarrassed to to open his mouth. So he just noted a person at the dias with him he recognized instantly. Schmoe, Merlin's Beard his wife would flip out if she saw what he was wearing. |

| Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite He was...nervous.
Very nervous. As nervous as he had been the first feast he ever had at the school as Headmaster. All the subsequent terms taking his relaxed if not at times passive aggressive or outright deliberate demeanour at feasts for granted. Always thinking the worst was over and addressing the students no longer proved a problem....just to end up at square one.
How many of them remembered his face melting into Rosier? How many held Rosier's actions against him the term the man walked around with his face on? So many questions.
His own staff, he didn't know some of them. The last week was filled with meetings and trying to remedy that but Merlin did he feel like a grindylow out of water, flopping around unsure where to begin making the repairs that really mattered. Malachi awkwardly walked along the tables, up to the dais. He was just a little late, having needed a bit of time in his office to....psych himself up enough to believe nothing would go wrong.
Up at the dais, Malachi nodded at those already seated, muttering his "Good evening." As he sank into his seat. "Finneas." He said down the table to the man. "That's a nice tie." As sincere as the day was long. He didn't know he'd miss the man's fashion sense so much. Seeing him that way tonight, it was an odd source of comfort. "Think we may have our work cut out for us this term, Gabi." He said, not wanting to be rude by further talking over the new Flying Instructor, but feeling it needed to be said to his new deputy. [b]"You....you might, too."[/v] He continued, now actually addressing Kazmi more personally. "Some of these kids...the ground is their friend."

| elephant-astic•wanderlust•stay in the ninedaaays the original Taco Belle•look at the flowers✿ "Maybe I'm not cut out for this healer thing after all," Neva announced as she hurried to her seat, a bit embarrassed to have arrived after the headmaster. It wasn't her fault, though. Apparently eating your weight in sweets wasn't the ideal way to spend a train ride and she'd spent a little too much time assisting a first year who quite literally tossed her cookies right on Neva's black strappy heels. Which she had to change. After she changed her trousers, which the little girl also decorated with her sick.
Why did she agree to this role again?
...Oh right, because she found that she cared tremendously for the well being of these kids. Who knew? "I apologize for my tardiness," She added with an apologetic smile directed at the man in charge. She couldn't promise it wouldn't happen again, but she sincerely hoped the circumstances would be different next time around. For now, the Charms Professor settled into her seat, brushing her hair back from her face and just taking a moment to be.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Avalon Sinclair Graduated | Shreya had imagined she would be full of optimism at the Start-of-Term Feast. A new year, a new beginning, a new start. But instead, as she gazed out among the sea of students, she was only overcome with a feeling of uncertainty.
She had held such confident hope last term. Hogwarts was supposed to be the first step in her life's new direction. And it had only resulted in devastating war, heartbreaking loss, and a slight limp in her leg that she wasn't sure she would ever fully be rid of.
Sure, she had greeted her coworkers warmly when she had arrived, dressed in a pair of satin mauve dress robes that matched her dangly earrings. She had swallowed her apprehension in favor of a deceivingly genuine smile. This was supposed to be a happy occasion, after all. Kamran and the new Ancient Runes professor (whose name she somehow kept forgetting) got particularly enthusiastic welcomes. Was it really only a year ago that she had been the newbie at the staff table?
The arrival of the Malachi brought about another brief wave of anxiousness, which Shreya tried to brush aside as nonchalantly as the hair she had just tossed over her shoulder. How bizarre it was to have worked at Hogwarts for a year, only to have to reacquaint herself with the real headmaster now. Though it was slightly reassuring Malachi appeared to be a bit uncomfortable as well. Perhaps it would be a learning experience for them all. "Good evening," she responded simply, sending a smile in the headmaster's direction.
Turning to her right, she took in Finneas's bright blue robes and mismatching bowtie. "You always do find the most eccentric robes, Finneas," she said to her former classmate. "You must tell me where you find them! My mother would just love those colors." Shreya was somewhat relieved that her seat at the table was next to Finneas and Norman. They made for some lovely small talk. And for now, that was all Shreya could manage. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Norman A. Carton Graduated Hogwarts RPG Name: Sydney M. L. Masters Slytherin Second Year Diagon Alley Proprietor:
Caledon Roth The Leaky Cauldron | Rhibear ~ Madam Solo ~ Dark Brooding Girl ~ Accio Jedi ~ Gryffinclaw ~ Just a doll After a quiet summer back in the States with his daughter, Norman was ready to go back at it. He arrived in the great hall a little later than he would’ve hoped, thanks to the proximity - or lack thereof - of his office and a lengthy mirror chat with his daughter. Dressed in simple blue-green robes that matched his eyes, he took his seat at the far end of the table. “Good evening, everyone,” he greeted, looking down the table at his colleagues. His eyes lingered on Malachi for a fraction of a second. Poor guy… must be hard coming back. He caught himself and quickly looked away. Was he twirling his wedding ring? Why, yes, he was.
Norman looked out at the arriving students. He didn’t expect many would be happy to see him back, but the thought of leaving never crossed his mind. How could he abandon them after all they’d been through last term? As his thoughts turned to last term, feelings of guilt and conflict surfaced, despite his impassive expression. Had he done the right thing by placating Rosier for as long as he had? Maybe he could’ve spared them some trauma if he challenged him… but now wasn’t the time for self-doubt. He couldn’t change the past; the best thing he could do for the students now was continue to share his knowledge with them. “So… how was your summer?” he asked, the question directed at anyone who heard it. Though not usually one for small talk, he needed a distraction from his thoughts, and nothing distracted like small talk.

| Puff by day, snake by night | Mj's bestie | Always UP to Something... To say Meda was nervous was an understatement. She had worked on her office and classroom until she felt it could live up to the standards in her head. This wasn't her first professor position, but in a way it felt like the biggest one as she walked into the Great Hall. Looking around she couldn't help but smile remembering her time here as a student.
Heading up to the staff table she smoothed her peacock colored robes. She loved darker colors, but there was one bright pink piece sticking out on her arm in the form of a bracelet that she hadn't taken off since it had been given to her. Smiling as she found her seat she greeted everyone already there. With staff meetings and such she knew the names and the faces, but she was a bit afraid to get them wrong with her nerves getting the best of her. "Good evening all."

| Lovely™ | Captain Hurted | Ariana's Bane | Resident Antagonist | Unparalleled Delight Kamran was aware of Recard's name and station, but it did not hurt to re-establish introductions. "And Head of Slytherin," he added, which was only really worth stating because it had been his own house once, though he supposed it was also helpful in establishing he paid attention to that kind of thing. Would not have served to start the term without knowing who any of his colleagues were, what they did, or who was responsible for whom. Kids could sniff out that kind of thing in a heartbeat. "Kamran Kazmi."
To the other staff, Kamran gave nods of acknowledgement, paying particular attention to their expressions as he did so. Gunter was new to the dais, like himself, and Kamran didn't yet know enough about him otherwise to know if his silence was characteristic or not. Trent's arrival interested him most, though he endeavoured not to make it obvious; the Headmaster would have plenty of scrutiny aimed at him tonight. Kamran did not intend to contribute to any possible nerves, if he could help it.
He leaned back slightly, opening up channels of communication between the Headmaster and his Deputy a little better, then looked to Trent. "No doubt of it. Just as long as they're willing to leave their friend, and aren't too eager to suddenly reunite with it." But Kamran... knew how these things could go. "Something to work towards."
More nods to the other staff, a polite half-smile here and there. Peralta, Varma, Carton, Euka. Kamran very briefly considered entertaining the Transfiguration professor's question, in the interests of courtesy, but the man was awkwardly situated at the very end of the table, and would probably not be interested in summer updates from someone he didn't already know. They'd get there, in time.

| Mentions galore doesn't proofread tweets | #wrongaboutcereal | #siriusly? | emo to the extremo When the new flying instructor arrived at the table, Finneas greeted him with a polite smile. Er. It was an intense smile. BUT it was a smile! ”Hello, Kamran.”
Yes, well, Finneas was trying. Sometimes that’s all you could really do. He was experiencing some big nerves, you know? Coming back to the school after last term, it was difficult to know what to expect and errrrrrrr Finneas had a hard time with that. He was ready though. Sort of. Ready enough as a noodle man could get. So he set down his spinner, offering another smile to those who made their way up to the dais next. ”Evening, Gabi, he offered in greeting, before saluting to Oakey, who was situated on the far end of the table.
From dormmates to colleagues. How about that.
It seemed his tie was getting quite a bit of attention, which Finneas was grateful for. See? He could get dressed without Alina’s help. Everything was fine. ”Er, thank you, Malachi, I, errr. I thought it was festive.” It really was good to see him again. It brought about a sense of peace. A Headmaster who cared for their students and their safety. Perhaps the term would be alright after all. Perhaps, perhaps. A Schmoe could hope.
Neve received a nod in greeting, as did Norman and Euka. Though, er, something tugged at Finneas’ heart as he thought about Cassie’s absence. Fortunately Shreya pulled him away from lingering on these thoughts any longer, which was very much welcome. ”Hello, Shreya,” he offered her an intense sort of smile. He was trying, could she tell? Hopefully not. ”Er, th-that is very kind.” Once again, Finneas found himself grateful to be assigned a seat between Shreya and June. ”This one was actually a, er, thrifted find.”
He'd be sure to slip her the name of the shop later. Maybe he could invite her over to his office for some tea. Finneas needed more friends, he really did. What he did not need, however, was to talk about his summer. So when he heard Norman's question, Finneas bobbed his head. "My summer was .... fine, how was, er, how was yours, Norman?" Yes. Solid answer. Ten points to FIN(E)neas.

| Mentions to some people!! curly haired prefect - "sometimes I get angry!" - 30/90 - *chicken emoji* - probably @ Disney - I speak dog Gabriela was familiar with the new Ancient Runes professor by name only, but gave him a small wave of greeting as he came in. These new professors always looked like they were going to jump out of their skin if someone looked at them funny! Had SHE been that nervous her first day here? She doubted it. She smiled at Trent, SUPER pleased that he was back and it was REALLY him who was sitting a few seats down from her. "I agree - I'm up for it if you are, though," she shot him a grin. To say this term would be tough was an understatement...but she was confident they'd be able to provide the resources they needed to help them all get back to normal. Or at least as close to normal as they could be.
Speaking of providing assistance...Gabi had full confidence that Neva would be able to handle the Healer gig, and smiled at her as she walked in after Trent. She made a mental note to grab her after the feast and set up a time to have tea and go over the mental health exercises she'd learned over the summer before she'd found out she had gotten Deputy Headmistress and stepped down from Healer. Any little bit of knowledge could be helpful! "Oh, nonsense. You'll do great - despite the fact that the students here are always looking for new ways to break something," she teased her a bit. But surely she'd known what she was getting in to in that regard, yes?
Her smile dropped slightly as the new Divination professor arrived. My, those robes were rather...LOUD, weren't they? She couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. She found herself missing Cassie every once in a while and no one was more shocked about that than herself but she ALSO found herself hoping this new professor was a little less...SNAPPY than she'd been. She didn't seem to be off to a great start. "Hello - Gabriela Recard," she introduced herself regardless, wanting to try and not be judgmental for once. She also didn't want to list off all her titles and be intimidating...maybe that was why she had unintentionally left off the Slytherin Head of House when introducing herself to Kamran, who reminded her of that a moment later. "Oh, yes, that too," she said with a small chuckle. "I enjoy wearing many hats around the school," she added. As if that wasn't obvious.
Nope, she was not gonna brag. Armen had made her PROMISE not to.

| *sappysapper* MAJNOO, YO! June wasn't late or anything, she simply had a ..... plant emergency to attend to - which basically meant she needed to practise a few breathing exercises to keep her cool before she entered the great hall. But if anyone asked -- there was a 'plant' in need. That was it.
It was not easy. To walk in there again, to see everyone, to smile and appear as if they hadn't all collectively shared the previous term's trauma. To walk in there .... and not see Cassie but someone else in her seat. It was ... not easy.
But somehow, she made it - and found herself passing a small smile to everyone as she sat down. "Hello, everyone -" she greeted before finding herself entirely amused by Schmoe's attire. "Your bow tie may put the sun to shame, Schmoe" she chuckled.
At least some things were the ... same; a thing she reminded herself again - a list specifically, as she glanced over at the tables and the Hufflepuff table particularly.

| Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite The fact Healer Poppy hadn't quite literally come "popping" through those doors was comfort enough. The woman had been...admittedly a good deal of help during his early recovery but....the word "overbearing" tended to launch itself at his mind rather forcefully when she was around.
Rather than jinx himself with such a thought...it was time to move the feast along. He was glad both Gabi and Kazmi were up for their challenges. After the last term, he felt a certain...certainty that everyone up on the dais was. They had done what they needed to survive and keep the children alive in the worst of times. It spoke volumes to the kind of team he was working with.
As was his familiar custom, Malachi hit his fork against the side of his goblet, wanting to get everyone's attention.
As he stood, he cast an amplifying charm on his voice. "Good evening and welcome to another year at school. For those among you who are new, a special welcome to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. While here, your house will be your home and your housemates your family. Make friends--the right kind. You never know when you'll need that shoulder to lean on, or pleasant company." Wouldn't do to start the term making enemies. "For those who went through the last term...I know it can't be easy to be back. Many of you may still have questions...fears. We've lost many good people. Make no mistake, a horrible thing happened here, but let's also not forget that we survived. In fact, we did more than survive, we conquered. Each of you had a part in ensuring a safe world for our muggleborn counterparts and the wider wizarding world and I'd like to thank you. It couldn't have been easy to be brave, I imagine most of you--if not all...nearly all....." Upstead. "were terrified. Some of you may have done or said things you would never otherwise say for the sake of survival." Not Upstead. Upstead meant it. "Let us not dwell on the past, but look forward to a brighter future together."
He paused to look up and down the staff table. "We have some new professors I'd like you to welcome. Beginning on my right, we have Professor Gunter in the role of Ancient Runes, in Divination we have Professor Euka. In the role of flying instructor will be taken by Professor Kazmi."
And a pause for applause. "There is a matter I must draw to every new student among you's attention. At the very edge of our school grounds, we have a forest. It's no coincidence that it was named the "Forbidden Forest". Unless you see the ghost of your fourth cousin's sister's father in law twice removed beckon you into that forest, you are absolutely meant to stay out. Failure to comply will have you eaten by its inhabitants. On the off chance you manage to be rescued before that happens, you will wish you were eaten." That Rosier had so callously gone without warning them was an affront to the very institution when so many of them thought it made for the best picnic spot at the school. "And on a much lighter note, the drama club would like to host another play this term. The play is still to be determined but keep an eye out for the audition sheets. It will be wholesome and endearing and a pleasant little project for anyone interested. Those who may not wish to act are welcome to help out behind the stage with props, costuming and other odds and ends."
A little something for him to be excited about as well. "Now then, let's e--I don't have to tell anyone the word "mudblood" is strictly prohibited this term, do I? No? Consequences, they exist. It's an ugly word and rather unbecoming. I don't even want to hear you think it." Ahem. "Now we eat."
And with that, the man sank back down into his seat and watched the food arrive.

| Puff by day, snake by night | Mj's bestie | Always UP to Something... Meda would like to talk a little more to some at the table, especially some old classmates, but now was the time to watch the students. She smiled watching and thinking about her time in the castle. Maybe she should have had her son transfer to be here, but he was not going to like that being his final year of school, so she left him where he was at. No matter though she had so many students to focus on now. Her eyes wandered to the puff table, her old house and a certain child that sat looking towards her. Giving a small wave she shifted her eyes back to the sorting not wanting to focus too much.
As the headmaster stood she turned her focus on him and smiled at his words. She knew this group was going to be extra special for all they did last year and the fact that they were back proved their strength.
