"For those who went through the last term...I know it can't be easy to be back. Many of you may still have questions...fears. We've lost many good people. Make no mistake, a horrible thing happened here, but let's also not forget that we survived. In fact, we did more than survive, we conquered. Each of you had a part in ensuring a safe world for our muggleborn counterparts and the wider wizarding world and I'd like to thank you. It couldn't have been easy to be brave, I imagine most of you--if not all...nearly all....." Upstead. "were terrified. Some of you may have done or said things you would never otherwise say for the sake of survival." Not Upstead. Upstead meant it. "Let us not dwell on the past, but look forward to a brighter future together."
He paused to look up and down the staff table. "We have some new professors I'd like you to welcome. Beginning on my right, we have Professor Gunter in the role of Ancient Runes, in Divination we have Professor Euka. In the role of flying instructor will be taken by Professor Kazmi."
And a pause for applause.
"There is a matter I must draw to every new student among you's attention. At the very edge of our school grounds, we have a forest. It's no coincidence that it was named the "Forbidden Forest". Unless you see the ghost of your fourth cousin's sister's father in law twice removed beckon you into that forest, you are absolutely meant to stay out. Failure to comply will have you eaten by its inhabitants. On the off chance you manage to be rescued before that happens, you will wish you were eaten." That Rosier had so callously gone without warning them was an affront to the very institution when so many of them thought it made for the best picnic spot at the school.
"And on a much lighter note, the drama club would like to host another play this term. The play is still to be determined but keep an eye out for the audition sheets. It will be wholesome and endearing and a pleasant little project for anyone interested. Those who may not wish to act are welcome to help out behind the stage with props, costuming and other odds and ends."
A little something for him to be excited about as well. "Now then, let's e--I don't have to tell anyone the word "mudblood" is strictly prohibited this term, do I? No? Consequences, they exist. It's an ugly word and rather unbecoming. I don't even want to hear you think it." Ahem. "Now we eat."
And with that, the man sank back down into his seat and watched the food arrive.

Healer Poppy is back & brings us a mandatory group session by the lake Quote:

Just a ways from the table was the large snack table full of different kinds of bread. Freshly baked. Some sweet, some plain, some gluten free. All kinds. Banana bread, strawberry bread, melon bread, French bread, oh there were so many choices~!!!!
Healer Poppy looked down at her watch, eagerly awaiting the arrival of the little darlings and professors alike.

We have some redecorating efforts in the school; started in the Entrance Hall and now splitting off into the dungeon corridor, the first floor corridor, and the seventh floor corridor Quote:

Healer Poppy levitated a box toward both the Headmaster and Flying Professor. ”We’ll need some help carrying the bread along, too. Now then, who’ll be going with who?”
Time to get this organised train on the track.

"Get on stage now, hurry, all of you. We're going to begin." And she needed them clearing the area. "Hurry hurry now." She had work to do.

Her breathing came in heavy...until...out of nowhere, just like the panic had overcome her...a sort of zen...flowed around her...like a comfortable blanket.

Was it bad that he just wanted some food in his stomach then a nice sleep? Following the mini-disaster that had been the play, there had been meeting after meeting with the Board of Governors. He was relieved they had been the ones to hire Poppy or he imagined he would never hear the end of it. Granted, he STILL couldn't hear the end of it, but at least he wasn't the focus. The Headmaster suspected there would be quite a few more meetings before the summer ended.
For now, he was ready to get this feast underway.
Malachi knocked at his goblet to gain the attention of the students before amplifying his voice to address them.
"Good evening, students. We've come to the end of what has no doubt been an...eventual term for many of us. I would like to extend praise to the crew of our Hogwarts Production of Peter Pan. We had some last minute interruptions but we powered through and the play received wonderful reviews." They could go ahead and pat themselves on the back. Not just the actors, the stage props and makeup were amazing. It all worked well together.
"While we're in a congratulatory mood, we owe a round of applause to Ravenclaw for winning the House Cup. It was a close race and hard won." Pause. "To our graduating class...this is it. There's no "see you in September". When you leave here tomorrow, the world will be yours to make something of yourself in. I hope the lessons you've learned here will serve you well and that you meet your fullest potential. There won't be anyone telling you what to do at every turn. I encourage you to make good choices. Consider every action and its possible reactions. Strategise." Y'know, the thing many of them refused to do in his classes. He worried for some, but mostly he was confident they would do well.
"For those returning, rest up, get some reading done and stay out of trouble. I look forward to seeing you back here in September. All of you."
Including those with a penchant for running away.
"Let's enjoy our final meal together." With that, the food began to appear at each table and the Malachi sank back down into his chair. It smelled amazing.
