Off to the left of the common room you'll find two labeled doors - one with "BOYS" written on it and the other with "GIRLS". Once you enter the door, you'll find a long hallway with seven individual doors, each labeled with the appropriate year - first through seventh. Each room rotates along with the years, so get comfortable with your surroundings - you'll be spending all seven terms there!
Each room has individual beds for each student, along with a spot for their trunks, a nightstand for their personal items, and their own privacy curtain. Each bed is spaced evenly apart from all the other ones - not too close, but not so far that you feel separated from your peers.

No matter how many times Claudine cleaned her trunk, it always winded up seeming as though she didn't. The entire situation drove her crazy sometimes. Once upon a time, it was cleaned yearly but as of her fourth year, she'd reverted to do it every time they were set to go on holiday. With Christmas looming, she figured now was a good time as any to get moving with this chore.
"I don't suppose you'd like to help, Sammy?" Claudine asked rhetorically of the rat that was laying lazily on one of her pillows. Sammy fixed his beady eyes on her; uninterested eyes. "Fine." The sixth year stacked her old sketchpads from her previous five years at Hogwarts neatly on her bed. "Don't chew on those pages." Sammy was a good boy and didn't chew on her things but Claudine was just making one sided conversation with him.
Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when

Fiona had been walking around the halls of the castle, trying to get her mind clear when after what seemed an eternity, she returned to her dormitory. Seeing Claudine in the midst of doing some cleaning most likely.
Plopping herself on the edge of her own bed, Fiona greeted her close friend. "Hey, Claudine. Cleaning time again?"

By now, Claudine had gotten the bulk of her belongings out of her trunk. They all lay neatly in piles based on what they were. For example, clothes formed a pile; her art supplies in another and so forth. Sammy had now abandoned his old position on the bed and had decided to scoot up her piles of sketchpads to lay on the topmost one. The rat was curled up in a ball, small head resting on his front paws. Claudine shook her head at him, wondering how he could snooze that much.
Hearing the door to the dorm open and close, Claudine turned around to see Fiona. “Hi. Yes, it’s that time again.” Her attention turned back to the trunk. “It’s interesting how much junk could be in here when it feels like I cleaned it only yesterday.” Claudine tucked some loose strands of hair behind an ear. “Have any special plans for Christmas, Fiona?”

Fiona smiled. "Well, I wouldn't call your fabulous sketchbooks junk." She pointed at Sammy snoozing. "Someone is living the life, isn't he?" At Claudine's question about Christmas, Fiona shifted awkwardly and began playing with a stray thread on her bedsheet. "I think I'm going to stay here. I think there is still some tension between my parents and me. To be honest, I don't really feel like celebrating at the moment."

Okay, that comment made Claudine laugh. “These sketchbooks are an exception.” She eyed the books fondly. They held a wealth of memories in there. Her attention returned to the now snoozing Sammy. Goodness, that rat certainly could sleep!“I think I spoil him a little too much.” But hey, it couldn’t be helped. Most students here at Hogwarts spoiled their pets rotten and Claudine was no different.
At that moment, Claudine began throwing crumpled pieces of parchment into the garbage pile so she didn’t pay much attention to Fiona during that time. Not until she heard her friend say that she’d not be going home. Claudine felt so sorry for Fiona but didn’t want to show pity. Some persons hated to be pitied. “Is it as bad as before or do they seem to be coming around?”

Fiona smiled at Claudine's comment about Sammy. "Nah, you don't spoil him. He is just loved and cared for by a kind owner."
When her friend asked about the situation with her parents, Fiona folded her arms and sighed. "It seems like nothing will change their mind. They nearly lost their daughter and niece but they still have that stupid mindset. I'm seriously thinking of asking my cousin if I can live with her once I turn 17 unless my parents change their attitudes."

It still always surprised Claudine when she was referred to as ‘kind’. It always sounded foreign to her given the fact that most human beings weren’t her cup of tea. But Fiona was one of them that was. “I try my best.” This was true; any creature she came in contact with was usually spoilt with treats and love.
If there was anyone who understood about wanting to get away from family who were on the side of the Alliance, it was Claudine. “You’d have thought that they’d learn by now what’s important, right?’’ She grabbed her wand to perform a quick Cleaning Charm to clean the dust out of the bottom of her now empty trunk. “My advice? Go for it. If your parents aren’t going to understand, it doesn’t make sense for you to stick around.” Claudine knew that Fiona would be seventeen in April anyway. Her parents were unlikely to come around in a few months. Not impossible though.

Fiona was glad to have Claudine in her corner. "Some people are set in their ways, I guess. Lucille has a spare room at her place so maybe we can work something out. I think she might be changing jobs at the Ministry so it might be a bit of time before she can let me know if I can live with her. I'll send her a letter over the holidays."
Fiona stretched her arms above her head. "Looking forward to spending Christmas with Heath's family? I assume that's where you'll be."

Claudine eyed her trunk. It was very much clean now. All she needed to do was to repack everything neatly and hope that she kept it tidy. That was unlikely but she could always hope, couldn’t she? Of course she’d always be in Fiona’s corner. They had a great friendship going. Not to mention Claudine understood the toll it took on someone when their family members were on the opposite side of where that person stood. “Oh? Is she moving to another Department or shifting to a new job within her current one?”
Claudine levitated her belonging to the ground, minus the sketchpads for the time. This way, she could easily repack her trunk while on her knees. “You assume correctly,” the girl said with a grin, sitting back on her legs. She grabbed some of her belongings and began adding them to the trunk. “I wish I could invite you over,’’ she continued. “Since it’s not my house…’’ Claudine lapsed into silence. When she did get a place of her own, she’d invite Fiona over. She was stubborn about that.

"I think Lucille is actually shifting to another department. I believe it is actually the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. Lucille wants to try and make amends for things, I guess. I'm sure she'll let me know."
At Claudine's comment, Fiona smiled. "Oh, I know that you would but don't feel bad. I understand. There will be opportunities to visit each other's places in the future."

Claudine was intrigued to hear all about Lucille’s change in career {even though it was not yet known what said career would be}. She herself had considered a bit about working at the MInistry but the thought hadn’t appealed to her, even if she would have been applying at the Magical Creatures Department. One thing for sure that she had her eyes set on? The Chief Consulting Magizoologist for the Daily Prophet. “Yeah, I get how she feels,’’ Claudine replied dully. The entire Neo Alliance clan was being silently referenced and she really did understand why Lucille would want to try to make amends. “Let me know what she decides to do, will you?’’
The girl grinned. Fiona was such an understanding friend. “You bet! And we’ll have a day or two all to ourselves.” Claudine was determined to keep in touch with all of her friends as much as she could after graduation.

"Of course, I'll let you know about Lucille! You've got to tell me all about your Christmas with the Jones', okay?" Oh, hang on...!"
Fiona made her way to her own trunk and retrieved a small box covered in dark purple wrapping paper tied up with a gold ribbon and walked over to Claudine. "Christmas pressie for you!"

Claudine grinned. “You bet I will. And of course I’ll want to hear about your Christmas. How things are going with your parents… everything." She really stressed on that last word because she’d like to think that Fiona knew that she could talk to her about anything. Claudine would never forget her own frustration and fears about her own family so there was a fair bit of understanding of what Fiona was going through.
By now, her trunk was almost repacked but Claudine paused, curious about why Fiona was telling her to hang on. Oh! A present! She hadn’t been expecting any and was pleasantly surprised. “But I haven’t gotten yours done as yet!” She felt guilty about that but there were just finishing touches that needed to be added. “Thank you.” She took the wrapped paper to carefully undo the pretty ribbon. “I’ll have yours before we leave for the holidays.” Claudine’s gift to Fiona? A huge portrait of Luna the cat, and she was trying to charm sketch-Luna to move. She just might have to enlist Peralta’s help for that bit.
Once the ribbon fell away, the paper was unwrapped to reveal a gorgeous gold charm bracelet, complete with a kneazle charm. Okay… so now Claudine was speechless as she stood gaping at one of the most perfect gifts that she had ever received.

"I don't know how I would have coped with all of these issues if it weren't for you, Claudine. I'm really thankful to have you as my dear friend," Fiona said with a genuine smile that was only reserved for those who held a special place in her heart.
When Claudine informed her that she had gotten her a present yet, Fiona waved her hand in reassurance and replied, "That's okay. I look forward to receiving the gift whenever you give it to me."
Fiona watched as Claudine opened her gift and smiled at her reaction.

Fiona watched as Claudine opened her gift and smiled at her reaction.
Claudine was literally having that moment where someone complimented her and she stood there lost for words and not knowing how to reply. Her cheeks had gone a light shade of pink, much like the strawberry lip gloss she usually wore. Then she finally remembered herself. “Oh, thank you, Fiona. And you’re always welcome.’’ She smiled at her friend, genuinely touched. “You know that I’m always here for you.”
Claudine reminded herself that she needed to get the presents done. She found that she had enjoyed making the gifts she intended to give and so, had opted to do the same for Fiona’s. Just the finishing touches needed to be added so Fiona would have it soon, and hopefully she would love it! Claudine slipped the bracelet onto her right wrist. “How does it look?” she asked, admiring the little kneazle and showing off her hand.
