| | Common Room graphics by hermionesclone Once you get through the barrels, you step into a very easy and warm Hufflepuff common room. The Hufflepuff common room is decorated in the gold and black of the house colors - though nothing about it seems overbearing. The walls are a nice, honey tone with an accented black line in the middle of each wall. The fire place on the end is the most comforting place to be during the winter - especially if you wish to sink yourself into over sized comfy couches and chairs. Black and gold beanbags are also randomly placed around the room for anyone wanting to study in groups.
On the far left wall - in between the two openings that lead to either the boy or girl dorms hangs a portrait of Helga Hufflepuff, while smaller portraits of famous Hufflepuffs can be found scattered around the other walls. Sitting on a table you can find a small radio for any puff who wants to relax and enjoy some music.
Whether you are here to study or just hang around, the common room is always a great place to sit back and relax after a long day of classes.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Sophia Svensson #556B2F Slytherin Fifth Year Hogwarts RPG Name: Eulalia Walles (#F48037) Hufflepuff Fourth Year | Laura/Florrie but all are welcome! Constant Vigilance! O_O AWAKE! She wasn't happy to be sitting in the common room with a book on her lap, but at least it was cozy. She was...well, she was theoretically reading about some magical theory for homework, but Mamie wasn't very good at reading. So instead she was huddled in a beanbag, book open to the page they were supposed to start on. She looked at the page occasionally but mostly was looking around the room. At the fireplace, at the portraits, at the doorway whenever anybody entered.
If she'd had her fidget spinner, she might have been able to spend more time on the paragraph and less time looking up-up-up at portraits, but it was hard to read and spin your wand around when you were in a beanbag chair. It was hard to just spin the wand around, even, she found she kept dropping it.
They were only a few weeks into classes and she could already tell third year was going to be harder than the first two. Thus, the apparent attempt at studying. |

They were only a few weeks into classes and she could already tell third year was going to be harder than the first two. Thus, the apparent attempt at studying. The proximity to the kitchens was quite possibly Florrie's favourite thing about being a Hufflepuff. The colour scheme wasn't flattering, the being underground wasn't great, but the walk to and from the kitchens almost made up for that. Especially when she could return to the common room with a bag of cookies that the elves had just insisted she took with her.
As she surveyed the room for a spot where she could enjoy the cookies and maybe a little people watching, a wand rolled to a stop at the toe of her shoe. It didn't take long for her to connect it to it's owner - she'd spotted the third year spinning it around when she'd entered the room, and she was only a few steps away. Picking it up, Florrie took herself to the beanbag next to Mamie's, which was not her usual seat of choice, and offered it to the younger girl.
"Think you dropped this."

She had obviously seen Florrie walk in but hadn't paid too close of attention. She was supposed to be reading, after all. And she was actually at least looking at the page of the book she had open when Florrie sat down.
She looked up to see a wand...ooh, her wand, being handed over. Margaret grimaced and took it, sheepishly tucking it into the top of her braid for safe keeping. "Thank you, Florence," she said quietly. One would think after last term, she'd keep better tabs on her own wand, but...reading was really hard. She closed the book she'd been not reading, happy for any excuse to do something different than read. "Did you come from the kitchen?" House elf cooking always smelled good. Almost as good as her Babulya's cooking. |

Or not, as the case may have been - the book was closed now, and Florrie leant over to peer at the cover. "That's dull," she commented before leaning back in the beanbag.
Nodding, Florrie pulled the paper bag onto her knee and pulled it open. "I did, yeah. Want a cookie?"

"Very boring," she agreed with the older girl. See? Older, wiser Hufflepuffs didn't like reading either. She was not alone. Books were terrible, they never taught her anything. Paying attention in class was usually enough. Well, it was for the classes she liked.
She eyed the bag and raised her eyebrows as Florence offered the cookie. "What kind?" she asked. Not because beggars could be choosers, but because sometimes people put cashews in cookies. And she didn't fancy surviving a year of the Neo-Alliance, only to be murdered by a baked good. |

Florrie enjoyed mysteries and horror stories. Or, so she would say. In reality, Florrie love romance and drama, but there was no way she was admitting that to anyone. All of the covers were charmed to look like something else.
Magical theory, though? Definitely boring. Peering into the bag, Florrie checked. "Some chocolate chip, some oatmeal raisin." An unpopular opinion, of course, but Florrie was a fan. Pulling one of the latter out, she offered the bag to Mamie.

Pulling one of the latter out, she offered the bag to Mamie. Chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin? Seemed normal enough, and unlikely to be...nutty. Florrie didn't seem nutty herself, so Margaret accepted a cookie gladly. "Thank you," she said, taking a cautious bite. Tasted like...raisins...oatmeal...no cashew taste. Though, to be fair, she didn't think she knew what cashews tasted like anymore. "They're delicious! Did you make them, or the elves?"
Either way, she was impressed. She was usually to uncomfortable to go to the kitchens and ask the house elves for extra snacks. She preferred to just smuggle extra apples or cookies or sandwiches from breakfast or lunch. You never knew when you would be hungry. Well, she knew. She would always be hungry. Being a teenager meant she was a l w a y s hungry. And while she tried to eat healthy so she could be strong for Quidditch, sometimes a girl needed cookies. "Why cookies?" she asked the fifth year curiously. |

For a moment, Florrie was tempted to lie and claim the delicious cookies were of course her own creation, but instead she found herself shaking her head. "The elves. I'm not very good in the kitchen."
As for why cookies, the fifth year could only shrug. "I don't know, I went in for a sandwich and they decided I needed cookies, too." And, honestly, it was very difficult to say no to the elves when they offered you treats.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Sophia Svensson #556B2F Slytherin Fifth Year Hogwarts RPG Name: Eulalia Walles (#F48037) Hufflepuff Fourth Year | Constant Vigilance! O_O AWAKE! She munched happily on the cookie. Margaret wasn't much of a sweets person, having had basically unlimited access to her babulya's baking growing up, but she could appreciate a good cookie on occasion just as much as the next person. "I bake with my Babulya sometimes, but never oatmeal raisin," she said. "Lemon cookies, we do a lot of those."
A sandwich and cookies sounded like an excellent snack, in her opinion. She decided she would try to go to the kitchens more this term. She did, after all, need energy for all her Quidditch training. And the growing, too. Three meals a day would not cut it anymore. "What's your favorite kind of sandwich?" |
