The charms room is sunny and inviting as you make your way inside, Peralta's usual classical music swapped out for some upbeat instrumentals that are drifting through the air. You'll want to be awake and energetic for today's lesson, so hopefully the tunes help.
Professor Peralta is perched on her desk, her feet bare and moving to the music as she watches the students arrive. She seems to be in good spirits, but she's not willing to give up the subject of today's lesson just yet. On the board behind her, it simply reads:
Please remove your shoes and socks. Fear not, there are spells in place which ensure stinky feet will not be an issue
So do as your told. Bare those feet and take a seat. Today's class is going to be something.
OOC: Hey friends! Welcome to another lesson of Charms! For now, simply have your charrie arrive and take off their shoes and socks (Please assume Neva asked all students to wear these before the lesson)! Also, please familiarize yourself with the Classroom Rules and know that as always, all SS rules apply!
Ah yes, Charms class. Kayne's favorite class here at Hogwarts, it even trumped his love for Divination. The boy was seemingly ecstatic upon walking into the classroom, a warm smile crossing his face. Ready for whatever today's lesson was about to bring, he strode gracefully into the room. As soon as Mordrake heard the upbeat music that was playing in the background, he couldn't but groove a little bit to it while inspecting the chalkboard, seeing what was written on it. Also, with the change of music and seeing that they'd be barefoot in class, a thought of what they'd be learning had ran through his mind like a car speeding down the freeway. If it was what he was thinking about, this would be a fun one.
Making his way to a seat, Kayne nodded to the Professor and gave an enthusiastic "Good afternoon Professor Peralta! I hope your day has been going good."
When he sat down, he proceeded to follow the directions that had been given. Taking off his platform boots, and striping away his socks, he was ready for whatever class would bring today. While waiting very patiently at his desk for class to begin, Kayne pulled his nail kit out from his bag. There was no wrong time for self care, especially to the only child in the Mordrake family. His appearance was everything. Whether it was his nails, his hair, or making sure his skin was always glowing with beautiful radiance, Kayne was basically always self-grooming. Some called this egotistical and vain with the amount of time spent on his looks; he merely saw it as basic hygiene.
Serena found this odd. Yet again, most of her professors were odd. Schmoe was probably the most normal of the bunch, and he always had his shoes on. Unlike...Professor Peralta. The Slytherin had to remind her face not to do that thing it does when it dislikes something. So she simply settled for her stoic face.
"Morning, Professor," she greeted as she sat by the entrance and worked to take off her mary-jane shoes. Pity. These were really nice shoes. They probably cost more than a muggle car. Meh.
There was also her housemate there, and Serena shot them a nod. "Hello, Kayne."
A thing she noticed, and was relieved for, was that there was no bread. Honestly, she was tired of seeing it appear in almost all of her lessons. If she didn't like bread before, she specifically wouldn't eat it now out of pure rebellion.
Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when
Fiona entered the classroom with a "Good Day, Professor," as she noticed the instructions that were written on the board. After carefully removing her footwear, Fiona made her way to an empty seat, giving Kayne and Serena a quick smile as she passed them. Once she had sat down, Fiona's left foot began to softly tap in time with the music. She was rather enjoying the non-classical music that was being played in the classroom.
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Claudine wasn’t really a fan of Peralta’s type of music but it had to be tolerated, didn’t it? Still, the warm and sunny classroom was enough to make up for the music. She arched an eyebrow, having caught sight of Peralta’s bare feet. “Hi, Professor,’’ That’s when her gaze happened to catch the instructions on the board and she smirked at the mention of stinky feet. Claudine’s feet were always neat, the nails trimmed properly and painted light pink.
The Snakette removed her shoes and socks then made her way further into the room where she took a seat next to Fiona. “Hi again, Fiona.”

Charlie walked into the classroom ready to do what ever it was they were going to be doing. Well that was until she saw Peralta's feet dangling bare from the desk. Her eyes scanned the board, take off your shoes, wait what? But her shoes were great, and comfortable. What in Merlin's name would she need to take her shoes off for, in charms no less.
Ugh, with a sigh she slipped off her shoes wiggling her toes showing off the bright white polish she had picked the previous weekend to use. Of all the things she had to do in this school that was weird but not dangerous weird.... at least she hoped. She'd really have to warn her siblings.
Ash wasn't in a very good mood today. For no real reason. Well, other than every single event that had ever happened in her whole entire life, there was no real reason.
She sat down next to Kayne, not bothering to greet anyone else. She couldn't even really tell who was in the room. It wasn't even really clear if she had sat there on purpose or randomly.... Who knew?
She sat next to him without saying a word, then took off her shoes and socks and watched him fix his nails. That was it. That was her greeting. She saved it just for him. Congratulations.
...
"Vice president." The words finally came, consciously or subconsciously. One of those. She could tell that she was talking. That was definitely true. And she was sitting next to Kayne. That was definitely true as well.
Ash was not very into the music playing today, if there was music playing.
She perked up a bit when she saw that there was no bread. Hey, that was good! Maybe she would pay attention to whatever was going on. Maybe. We'll see.
Since she was being nice... and since there was no bread today... "Hi Professor Peralta."
A thought popped into Ash's mind. A thought. Woah. She leaned over to Kayne. "Guess what? My toes and fingers match!" They were both painted black! Wow, look at that! She wiggled her fingers and toes.
She leaned back in her chair. Please, let my day get better and not worse.

Charms. Not Transfiguration. The two were not to be confused. Dahlia knew the difference. Honest she did. Not that it mattered anymore. This was Charms class, not Transfiguration. Yup. Now that all was perfectly clearly in her head, she entered the room with a warm smile on her face. "Hello, Professor Peralta."
Taking quick note of the different music playing that really didn't give much of a clue to what was going to be the days lesson. Then again, neither did Peralta's bare feet or the message that was behind the women on the board.
Erm.. okay?
Where they going to be dancing in this class too? Lia kinda hoped not. Dancing in class had already caused her enough issues. Sitting down at her usual desk, she set her bag on the floor and began to remove her shoes and socks. Both of which she set in her bag for the time being. She gently swung her feet back and forth beneath her desk to the beat of the music playing as she watched the beautiful nail polish on her fingers swirl around in a mix of yellow, orange and white. The polish on her toe nails just so happened to match.

After a few seconds of filing his nails, Kayne looked up from what he was doing when someone called out his name. Gaze turning to the person, he saw Serena. He offered the girl a smile and a nod as well while cheerfully greeting her with "Hello Serena. Hope you're doing well." After this, he moved on from filing his nails to buffing them.
I really should've put a top coat on them. He thought to himself. The paint was already starting to chip for some reason. Kayne just did them yesterday too!
That was when another presence was detected, and he saw his favorite Ravenclaw, Ash, join him. Seeing her immediately made Kayne even more ecstatic. For the first time, in a long time, he subconsciously and accidentally smiled with his teeth showing his braces. "My Queen!" The boy said with enthusiasm. It was also in that very moment did the boy realize that people could see his braces. Quickly moving his hand in front of his mouth so that way it would lessen the amount of people who would see them, he also replied to Ash "OOO, those are sooo cute. You should let me do your nails sometime." That was when Kayne pulled out his nail art notebook. Opening it up, he placed it in front of the girl. "I can give them that little extra something in many different ways."

Strange, she thought that she had Charms class this morning, not dance class. Remy was NOT looking forward to taking her shoes off in class, despite the note stating that stinky feet wouldn't be an issue. Still didn't mean she wanted everyone to see her toes, or vice versa.
"Hello, Professor Peralta."
With her socks and shoes removed, Remy sat down near Dahlia, because Dahlia was a nice person who probably had nice feet. The young Gryffindor smiled at her, "Hey, Dahlia," and making every effort to cover her feet up.

Violet arrived at Charms class on time (which was a relief, because she always seemed to be running late this year). She grimaced at the idea of having to take off her shoes and socks, though. And she was more concerned about getting chilly feet than any stinkiness. But it wasn't worth losing points over, so she took them off and placed each sock neatly inside its matching shoe.

Kinsay came to an abrupt stop as she entered the classroom, but not because of the funky tunes and not because they were meant to take off their shoes. She was looking for the ~ breaaaaaad!
Except she couldn't find any as she made her way to sit down, so she pouted a little bit (read: a lot a bit) as she looked back to Professor Peralta. "Hi, Professor. Did Healer Poppy run out of bread?" Or maybe the house elves needed to take a day off. That was a possibility too, albeit a disappointing one.
As for her feet? They were bare as could be! Bread smells could help offset feet smells, did Professor Peralta know?

The sunshine was nice, the music was fun, and the message on the board was...interesting. Ivy didn't mind taking off her shoes, but keeping her socks on would be preferable, mostly because they were cozy and warm.
But, after offering the professor a smile and a "Hi, Professor," the Ravenclaw took a seat beside Violet and slipped off her shoes and socks. She tucked her socks into her shoes and moved them under her chair so they wouldn't be in anyone's way.
She was definitely curious what the lesson topic would be, but for a second she was even more curious about the answer to Kinsay's question too. Where was the bread? A slice of it sounded nice right about now.

Heath blinked, unsure what to make of the room setup as he entered the charms classroom. The sunny atmosphere was fun and inviting, but the upbeat tunes in place of the usual classical music came as a surprise. Then there was that message on the board. His heart sank as he read it. Upbeat music, instructions to take off their shoes and socks, barefoot professor at the desk… They were going to be dancing (or something equally humiliating), weren’t they? Overwhelming dread settled over him as he removed his shoes and socks. For some reason, this reminded him of that pool lesson in Profesor Schmoe’s class three terms ago… the same instructions to go barefoot, the same fear and embarrassment until…
As he remembered that day, his thoughts turned to the one thing that calmed his worry that day in muggle studies, and again, he felt slightly less embarrassed. He was so lost in thought that he almost forgot to greet Professor Peralta! “Hello, Professor,” he said, acknowledging her with a polite nod as he passed her desk. Spotting Claudine and Fiona, he beelined that way, taking a seat on the other side of Claudine. “Hi,” he greeted the pair, smiling at them each in turn.

As the students wandered in, Neva offered smiles and greetings, but kept an eye on the time. She wanted to make sure they had plenty of it for practice, as this spell wasn't the easiest to master and they'd want to get it right when it came time to put it into action. She actually couldn't wait.

"Hello, Mr. Mordrake." Someone was chipper today. She much preferred this to the sullen teenager vibes she sometimes encountered. As for the nail kit, the Professor raised her eyebrows. He'd better not get toe nails on her floor.

Hello, Miss Jenovick." Professor Peralta offered a smile, watching as the sixth year got settled. So far none of the kids bothered questioning her instructions and she was a little surprised, to be honest. They were typically quite the curious bunch.

Another one who didn't think greetings were necessary. It was a little awkward, considering Neva was standing directly in front of the room, but okay.

No, Neva didn't think it was possible for that woman to run out of bread. Just when she thought they'd tasted the last of it, she came around with more. It was a wonder she hadn't gained any weight.
"I wouldn't worry about that, Miss James. In fact, I'd try and focus on the lesson and forget about bread for a little while, alright?"

A little distracted today, hm? At least this one hadn't forgotten his manners completely. She'd forgive him. "Hello, Mr. Jones. Please get settled, we're about to begin."
Finally the last of the students had filtered in and Neva closed the door, turing her back to it so she could face the group. "Feet. Humans and creatures, big and small, use feet to accomplish all sorts of things." She moved back towards her desk, leaning against it as she glanced down at her own perfectly pedicured feet briefly and considered just how many moments she relied on them. "So to start, I'd like you to name some of the things humans and/or creatures can use their feet for. Please only provide one to start, as I want to make sure everyone gets a chance to share. You may begin." She looked around the room, searching for the first raised hand.
OOC: Hi friends! First Instruction is up and it is this: Name one thing that humans and/or creatures can use their feet for. Please try not to repeat answers if you can! You'll have about 24 hours before we move on!
"Hiii!" Ash KNEW that Kayne would cheer her up! Well, as much as possible. So like, today was tolerable now??? It was hard to explain. Oooh! Nail art. "Those are so pretty. You're so good at doing nails, vice president..."
Hmph. How come Peralta was crashing their party??? WHYYYY. Bruh. She gave the professor her near-perfect grumpy face. She looked like a very angry Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes. But like, a 13-year old girl. It was perfect.
She looked at her feet to avoid looking at the professor. You know what sucked? Her feet had a lot of scars on them from surfing accidents and the like. Now people would judge her and think she was stupid and reckless. At least her nails looked good.
Clearly, this class was going great.
"You can use your feet to kick stuff. But you need to be careful. You generally shouldn't kick with your toes tho because you'd hurt your toes. The other methods of kicking things are better." She looked at Peralta innocently. "Breaking your feet is painful, so you need to take good care of them." She wiggled her toes.
Ashley Fox talking about being injured and kicking things??? Being passive-aggressive??? No way! What??? Crazy... impossible... yeah. Totally. Never happened. The professor must be dreaming.
The premise of all this was bizarre for a structured, classroom kind of class - shoes off was more like a yoga, pilates vibe, fit for a gym class. It didn't really seem like that kind of thing was appropriate for a charms lesson, but Teddy wouldn't put it past Peralta to have something fun on the agenda.
He had sat beside his sister, Kizzy, before class began, and chuckled at her question. With Peralta's reply, Teddy gave Kiz an encouraging nudge as if to say, Hey, it was a fair question. Seemed like they could never escape the bread, and this Ravenclaw would wager a galleon or two on a bet that bread would somehow, some way, make its way into this classroom today.
Looking down at his own bare feet at the professor's proposed question, there were a few obvious answers regarding basic forms of movement at the tip of his tongue, but he elected to leave those to the younger students. "For balance," he offered with a raised hand. "To keep ourselves upright and not topple over. Helps keep us grounded." Without feet, they'd have to balance on what would be peg-like appendages, which was probably a lot harder, he figured.
Mamie wiggled her bare toes beneath her desk and raised her hand. "Dancing!" she said excitedly. Sure, walking, running, kicking things were all more obvious answers, but hers was more fun.
She looked over at Ashley, to see what she thought. Did she like her answer? Mamie wasn't a fan of Ash's answer, so she knew it wasn't important that her friend liked it, but still. It would be good to know.
Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when

Fiona gave Heath a warm smile. "Hello, Heath."
SPOILER!!: Professor Peralta

"So to start, I'd like you to name some of the things humans and/or creatures can use their feet for. Please only provide one to start, as I want to make sure everyone gets a chance to share. OOC: Hi friends! First Instruction is up and it is this: Name one thing that humans and/or creatures can use their feet for. Please try not to repeat answers if you can! You'll have about 24 hours before we move on!
Fiona thought for a very brief moment before raising her hand. "I know that some creatures such as the sloth use their feet in order to grip onto tree branches."

When the door to the classroom closed, signaling the start of the lesson, Lia wiggled herself back into the chair sitting up even straighter. Her legs were still swinging back and forth beneath her desk in time with the music playing but she was very much paying full attention to Professor Peralta.
Dahlia raised her hand. "Feet can be used to hold things. They can be used just like out hands with enough practice." When she had finished speaking she leaned down to take out a sheet of parchment, quill and some ink so she could quickly write down her notes. All of this could be important and it might come up on a test or something. Always best to be prepared.

Slyly smirking at Professor Peralta's comment about how this wasn't a nail salon, Kayne quickly put the notebook and nail kit back into his bag; and gave her a nod of acknowledgement. After which, he quickly found himself replacing the two with his regular notebook for class and a quill. Then turning back to Ash, he shot her a look of I'll just show you these later then. That gave something the two could do while hanging out back in their little secret HQ. But regardless, it was class time now, so the boy put his focus onto the Professor.
Listening while she spoke, the question posed to class was rather simple. At least, right now it was. Feet could only do a limited amount of things so obviously, the first people who spoke had it easier coming up with an answer compared to those who waited. Kayne would not be doing the latter of the two. Raising a hand in the air, the Slytherin said "One thing that feet can be used for is peddling a bicycle." A simple answer to a simple question certainly solved the trick. He wanted to continue on with more answers, but Kayne wouldn't just disregard the fact that the other students needed stuff to say.

Misa raised her hand and offered the most obvious answer. "You use your feet for walking." All things with feet did that. They also ran with them. Jumped with them. Etc. This was a weird question.

Drats! She was going to say dancing. Everyone probably wanted to say dancing, though. Remy paused to think about another answer, that wasn’t immediately coming to her.
… “…pedicures.” All that thinking just for THAT. She decided to elaborate. “Or for other fashionable reasons, to wear nice shoes, to run a catwalk.” Remy sighed after her answer. How dare she talk about looking fashionable when her own toes were so boring and unpainted.

Violet caught the hint when the professor greeted her--had she not said hello when she came in? She couldn't remember. Ever since that pesky bread started appearing all over the castle, even in the classrooms, Violet found she was having trouble concentrating and remembering things.
Well, she would try to pay attention in this class and maybe get back in Professor Peralta's good graces. Raising a hand, she offrered, "A lot of animals use their feet to scratch themselves when they itch. Though I guess not many people do." Not unless your hands were full or something--Violet supposed a person might scratch the back of one leg with another without looking too weird.

Feeling slightly discouraged, Kins nodded obediently in reply to her Professor's request. "Okay." She really would try to focus, even though she'd rather be munching on bread or making little breadmen with the doughy bits. Fortunately, Teddy's encouraging little nudge did just the trick. And all in all? Kiz was ready for class to start so she could figure out why the heck they weren't wearing shoes today!!! So weird. Maybe they'd get some bread as a mid-lesson treat.
When the first question was posed, Kinsay's hand shot straight into the air - she was eager. "Not just to stay grounded," she added after Teddy with a cheeky grin in his direction. "We can also use them to jump!" Hehe.
If she could answer with more than one thing, she'd offer up gymnastics as a second answer, but jumping was important in gymnastics too (especially when it came to vaults). So jumping was all encompassing. She was sure.
