| | Boris the Bewildered Not far from the entrance of the fifth-floor corridor stands a statue of Boris the Bewildered. Even though there is a statue present in dedication to the man, not much is known about him these days. Just by looking at his expression, it appears that he is either very lost or someone just Confunded him. Though, perhaps, this observation will not come as a surprise to you. After all, the old man is wearing his gloves on the wrong hands.
Hopefully you are faring significantly better than the statue standing before you. In general the statue is used as a landmark for prefects and Quidditch captains, serving as a gentle reminder that their exclusive bathroom is just a few doors down. If you are not a student leader, however, the statue might be viewed as yet another of those silly things that reside inside the castle and be deemed as something not worth investigating further. Though, if you ever need a casual meeting place, Boris will always be there to help you out even if he hasn't got a clue who you even are.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Sophia Svensson #556B2F Slytherin Fifth Year Hogwarts RPG Name: Eulalia Walles (#F48037) Hufflepuff Fourth Year | open :) Constant Vigilance! O_O AWAKE! Why did this statue look so confused? Mamie came to a stop and stared blankly at the statue. Weren't most statues famous people? Accomplished people? Who was this guy?
She tilted her head as she eyed the statue suspiciously. It was a real statue, right? She wasn't on the fifth floor often, so she wanted to be sure it wasn't a seventh year pretending to be a statue or something. Nobody was going to jump out from behind it??
Slightly convinced, she took a seat on the floor next to the statue and pulled out the Quidditch book Kinsay had lent her. She'd gotten tired of reading in the broomshed, but this seemed like a nice quiet corridor where she could finish reading it. It was better than most other books she'd read and hated. So. She didn't hate this one. She propped the open book on her knees and frowned as she resumed where she'd left off. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Archie O'Brien Slytherin Third Year | Skip, skip, skip.
Today, Kayne Mordrake was feeling enthused, finally done with classes for the day, he decided to go for a walk around the castle. Not really in the mood to be doing so outside though, the boy decided to go back to the fifth floor. The weather just was way to cold currently, which really sucked. He had hoped to be able to actually go exploring on the grounds, but inside the castle itself would have to do for now.
Just casually passing through the corridor, Mordrake had taken note of a girl sitting by the statue of Boris. He couldn't help but look as quizzically as the statue itself; what an odd place to be reading at He thought to himself. But it was rather quiet in the hall right now, Kayne was guessing that it wasn't the same back in the girl's common room. Looking down upon her, he spoke up "Whatcha reading there?" His posh accent echoed rather loudly.
Oops.

She was just minding her own business with this book. And someone was talking to her? And she was upset? Mamie didn't think she'd ever been upset to be interrupted from reading before. Or to be talked to. This was new territory, this reading-enjoyment phase of her life.
She looked up. Oh. It was Ash's...new friend.
She smiled up at him, not bothering to get up from the floor. He could sit down if he wanted a long chat. "It's about Quidditch!" she said brightly, her voice echoing too. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Archie O'Brien Slytherin Third Year | Oof, Quidditch? How drab. Kayne Mordrake couldn't help but scoff a little bit at the mention of it due to his utter hatred for flying. What the boy wasn't good at, he didn't like. And typically what he didn't like, he tended to hate. Not that there was anything actually wrong with the sport, but the Mordrake heir couldn't even come to bear the thought of someone actually being better than him at something. Which is why he hated flying and Quidditch, because he knew he was no good at it.
Taking a seat across the hall though, the black and white haired Slytherin couldn't help but think of some form of way he could make this conversation somewhat more interesting. Never really one to just always be doing the right thing, a plan had started to form throughout Kayne's brain. "Mind if I..?" He said, gesturing with a hand towards the book. Regardless of the answer, he still used the gesturing of a hand as somewhat of a distraction. The boy's other hand sneakily pulled out his wand from his bag. Very carefully he pointed at the object in Mamie's hand, and tried a bit of wordless magic. Accio book. Kayne thought to himself. Hopefully, the Hufflepuff wasn't hanging onto the book too much, otherwise, it would just make things kinda awkward.

Mamie hadn't always been good at flying and Quidditch, but she'd decided she wanted to be good at it, and worked as hard as she could and as often as she could at the sport, until she was actually good. That's what people told her, anyway. She thought she could still get better.
She would have gladly let him see her book, and had pulled the slip of parchment she'd been using as a bookmark to save her page, when Whoooooosh the book flew out of her hand and across the hall to the older boy.
What.
Um. She stared at him with a surprised and mildly offended expression on her face. What a rude boy! She wasn't an idiot, she knew a summoning charm when she saw one. Even if...well, she hadn't seen him cast anything, but how else would her book end up with him without her handing it over? She pulled out her own wand, annoyed enough to be stubborn. "Actually," she said, "I do mind. Give me back my book." She pointed her wand at her book, threatening to take it by magic. But not actually taking it by magic yet because she wasn't a jerk. She would use her words. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Archie O'Brien Slytherin Third Year | Ah yes, queue the look of a mildly annoyed person who didn't appreciate the boy's pranks. Kayne's jests just weren't everyone's cup of tea. But boy does the whole pot of it spill over sometimes as her own wand was now being pointed back in his direction. He couldn't help but laugh a little bit. "Don't worry, I'm not laughing at you." He said, with the periodic bit of laugh in between his words. It was true, in these types of situations his laughter wasn't at them (unless they went to certain lengths which ended up being embarrassing for said person).
Book now in hand, Mordrake couldn't help but flip through the pages before handing it back over. A look of somewhat disgust crossing his face while reading. "I personally don't like Quidditch anyways so be my guest Quidditch Princess." That would be his nickname for Mamie now. It was official. She had earned the title. As he said so, Kayne made sure to carefully slide the book back her direction. "You're one of Ash's friends if I'm not mistaken, right?" The prankster had to ask. Because any friend of Ash, was a friend to Kayne. However, the same could be said vice versa. Any enemy of his friend was an enemy to himself, but he had hoped for the previous over the latter. Kayne always needed more friends after all; at Hogwarts especially. It was an added comfort that way, knowing he had people he could always hang out with. The boy was extremely sociable, although most first impressions made by himself weren't typically the best.

Anyone who had to clarify they weren't laughing at someone probably was. But...she didn't really care what he thought. Especially once he said he didn't like Quidditch, accompanied by that look on his face. Not a sports person, apparently. She tucked her wand back away once the book was on its way across the floor. She grabbed it, dusted it off, and hugged it tightly to herself. Kinsay would not appreciate any harm coming to this borrowed book, she was sure of it. "Ye--" She started to say that yes, she was Ash's friend, but that was...no longer true. All the annoyance and distrust melted off her face, leaving her looking lost. "You are mistaken." She was surprised. She'd seen Kayne talking to Ashley more than once. Hadn't Ash told anyone that they were no longer friends? Mamie had told everyone. Well. Some people. "Why don't you like Quidditch?" she asked, forcing her voice to be moderately chipper as she tried to redirect the conversation back, away from Ash. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Archie O'Brien Slytherin Third Year | Kayne Mordrake couldn't help but chuckle a bit more as he watched Mamie hug the book. The boy was amused by how much the girl had cared for the object, and the subject in general most likely. Dusting off the book was expected, but hugging it got another laugh, once again not at her though. The Hufflepuff clearly just liked reading apparently, otherwise that moment most likely wouldn't have occurred in Kayne's personal opinion. But to each their own, he wasn't gonna judge...too much...
That's when she dropped the opposite bomb; making the situation rather awkward. It was very clear that Kayne was friends with Ash, but now Mamie dropped the they aren't friends. However, always one to compromise and make light of situations like these, he simply said "Well maybe I can fix that then. You two seem like you'd get along just nicely." There was some sarcasm in that last part, but honestly, who cares? Opposing personalities can be nice in friendships a majority of the time, because that also most likely meant they had strengths that the other person lacked.
Pulling out a mirror to check out his hair just to make sure it wasn't looking weird, Kayne also replied to Mamie's latter comment "Well, in all honesty, I'm the best at everything I do. And I'm just not good at Quidditch, so therefore since I'm not the best at it, by default I dislike it. Now soccer on the other hand, well I can play that all day long." It wasn't that Mordrake disliked sports as a whole, he just disliked Quidditch because flying was so confusing to him. Flying is one of the key aspects to it, so he could just never get the hang of it.

Flying is one of the key aspects to it, so he could just never get the hang of it. If she heard anybody claiming she liked reading, Mamie would probably have serious words with them. She was still in denial, of course, that she liked reading one very specific topic of book and no other types. Quidditch books only, and only the exciting ones...whatever that meant. Still, she understood that other people liked reading and therefore she was prone to care for their things, like borrowed books, much more than her own.
Plus, Kinsay was just nice. She deserved to have her book returned in the same condition it was borrowed in.
She shrugged at Kayne's suggestion that he could somehow fix their friendship. She'd tried that. Ash hadn't. "You're welcome to try," she said with a sigh, running her finger absently along the cover of the book. It would be nice to be friends with Ashley again.
She raised an eyebrow at the boy's mirror...and then raised the other one at his comment. Really? The best at everything? Somebody had too much self esteem. His logic...didn't make sense, either. Clearly if he wasn't the best at Quidditch, he wasn't the best at everything. But Mamie didn't want to start an argument with Ash's new friend. "Well, you're not the best at football, either," she said quietly. Blake was the best at football. "You shouldn't have to be the best at something to enjoy doing it," she added. She certainly wasn't. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Archie O'Brien Slytherin Third Year | While fixing his mullet because it was kinda getting out of hand a bit, Kayne quietly (for once), sat there and listened to what Mamie had to say. Too ingested in his own looks to even noticed the raised eyebrows, he went on to say "I gladly will try. Petty drama is soooo last year." Contrary to popular belief, and even though he may cause a lot of trouble, the Slytherin didn't really like meaningless drama and fights. Which is why the boy was saying that he'd helped mend the tear between Mamie and Ash. Albeit, the rift between those two could have been caused by something more serious, but Kayne didn't really know the specifics on this situation.
Placing the mirror back into the bag, he peered over at her, barely catching her mumbling something to herself. Unsure of what was actually said though, Kayne just asked "What did you say?" The fourteen year old made sure the tone of his voice wasn't aggressive; just general curiosity. The last thing he needed right now, was to accidentally say the wrong thing and cause petty drama. He wasn't a hypocrite after all.
As per the other remark, Kayne just simply stated "Meh. I don't know why, but I just find things that I'm the best at to be more enjoyable." Which was true; the fact that Kayne couldn't even play Quidditch to save his life made his bitter hatred for the sport grow. If that made him vain, then so be it. He knew that he came off that way to many people, but that's just how he carried himself. And why shouldn't he carry himself that way? It's not like Kayne only thought about himself 24/7 because the reality is he typically put others before himself.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Sophia Svensson #556B2F Slytherin Fifth Year Hogwarts RPG Name: Eulalia Walles (#F48037) Hufflepuff Fourth Year | Constant Vigilance! O_O AWAKE! So last year? Mamie frowned. There was no petty drama last year. Last year was real drama. Life-or-death drama. But...while she wasn't really finding herself liking Ash's new friend, if he could get her and Ash to be friends again, that would be good. She missed Ash. "Never mind," she said with a dismissive wave of her hand. It hadn't been nice. She didn't want to repeat it. "What are you best at, then?" she asked curiously. If he said it wasn't Quidditch, and she knew it wasn't football, she wondered what it could be. School, maybe? She supposed it was possible to be best at school. Not for her, but someone had to have the best grades, she supposed. |
