Window Seat
|
Sammy! :) After spending what was likely an absurd amount of time in the library after dinner had finished, Dahlia had slowly made her way back to her common room. It was there that the first year had gone directly to her dorm to put her things away. While there the quick decision to change into her pink and white pajamas with unicorns on them, grab up her fleece blanket, select one of the books she had gotten from the library and scoop up Sir Frederik the Pink Pygmy Puff from her pillow. Not really feeling like being all alone in the dorm, Lia headed back into the common room. Who cares if anyone saw her in her pjs, not her! Normally she would sit on one of the couches or arm chairs in front of the fireplace. But not tonight. The window seat was empty! No time could be wasted right now or someone else might sit there first! Dahlia hurried over to the padded window seat and plopped down upon it sideways, tucking one of her legs up underneath her, the other dangling down unable to touch the floor. Sir Frederik had already made his way up onto her shoulder, tucking himself against her neck. Her blanket was spread out nicely over her lap and she gave a little wiggle, settling down comfortably. Opening the book to the first page, she began to read. |

No nO NO! The window seat was very quickly becoming one of his favourite seats to sit on. The sofas weren't bad either but there was something special about the window seats. Something like the view or the comfortable seats or the fact that he could do almost anything here. Almost. Baking cupcakes wasn't an option. Except, it now looked like sitting wasn't an option, either, because the seat he was walking to was now taken. Sammy clutched a spell book close to his chest as he started He chewed down on his bottom lip. As much as his mind was racing, there was nothing else for it, was there? Sammy took a few steps to turn to face the seat and the unknown girl who was sitting there. Without any hesitation, he immediately started walking towards her. A walk that tried to show that he was casual and confident at the same time. "Hey, there! Hope you don't mind if I join you," he said, already helping himself to the seat next to hers, "I like your pyjamas, by the way." Don't mind him. He was just going to make himself comfortable. |

It wasn't until the slightly older boy with the nice floofy hair was practically in front of the window seat where she was sat, did she notice him fully. Yes, she had caught a glimpse of him moments earlier but she hadn't been fully aware of what he had been doing. A warm smile graced her lips when he spoke to her, lowering the book onto her lap. "Hi! Not at all, there's more than enough room for the both of us." Dahlia shifted a little bit, leaning herself more into the corner of the window seat where she was to give the boy a bit more room. Her cheeks flushing a slight shade of pink at the mention of her pajamas. Excuse her giggles right than in hopes of anyone else not noticing this! "Thanks! Do you like unicorns?" Was that why he had mentioned them? "I'm Dahlia but you can call me Lia, if you want," she introduced herself once he seemed to be comfortable. She was sure she knew his name since they were in the house and all but she would let him do his own introductions. Or she could simply group him with the others that had really nice floofy soft looking hair. The imaginary list in her head was growing more and more each day. |
It was nice of her to make some space, wasn't it? Especially to a stranger who just happened to be in the same house as her. "Thanks!" The smile was returned with one of his own as Sammy wiggled himself into place. It was only then that he let his spell book rest on his lap, giving his arms a bit of a rest as well. A bit. He was still planning on reading whatever it was that Peralta had told them to for their home- Wait, unicorns? The second year had barely managed to touch the papery-edges of the book before he noted the question from girl. "Nah, not my type. My mum works with dragons so we're more of a dragon family." And puppies. You couldn't forget the puppies. "Are unicorns your favourite animal?" He had a vague feeling he didn't need to ask - the pyjamas told him everything - but the girl was making conversation so he could too. "Ah, Lia, nice to finally meet you." He recognised her face, he was sure of it, but it was nice to match a name with that face. Now he just had to remember it, right? "The name's Sammy. Or Sam, even. It's short for Samuel but that sounds too posh." His nose wrinkled up at those last few words and gave his hand a very small wave, just so that she got the idea. |
Didn't at all mind scooting over and making a bit more room for him to be comfortable too. Sure the window seat was a very decent size and both herself and him were kinda small but she thought he could use the space. "You're welcome." Lia couldn't keep from giggling when she saw how he wiggled himself around until he was comfortable, she did that all the time too! Dahlia blinked at him. Unicorns weren't his type??? Didn't everyone like unicorns? She opened her mouth to ask the boy this but before she could, dragons were mentioned. That was all she had to hear. "Dragons?! Does your mum work at a dragon reserve?" She wiggled in excitement wanting to hear more. "My cousin is studying to be a Dragonologist." Hmm? Oh, yeah, the unicorns. "Uhh, I don't think so? Maybe? I like LOTS of creatures. My sister is a Magizologist." All of her life she's been around creatures of all kinds. "It's nice to meet you too. Which do you prefer, Sam or Sammy?" It was his name so it was only right to ask. Personally she liked Sammy, it just sounded like it suited him better. |
