 The walls in the first-floor corridor are covered in tapestries and, hung over them, are portraits of numerous wizards and wizards. Whether you are trying to get to class or are just browsing around, the portraits here will try to start up a conversation with you. If you manage to get on their good side, they'll be willing to reveal secret passageways, share the latest school gossip, and more.
If you have time to spare, definitely go on a brief tangent from whatever it is you are doing. Google Stump is your man to go to if you're looking for answers about the mysteries of the castle; Beaumont Marjoribanks can tell you everything there is to know about gillyweed; and Elizabeth Burke ... well, it would be best to just avoid her for reasons that will be obvious should you strike up a discussion with her about magical blood status. There are other portraits here as well, each with their own unique personalities, and figures from other portraits happen to invade their frames from time to time.
OOC: Please do not role-play for the Portraits.

Kinsay's eyes were still full of tears. She was completely glazed over. Nothing making it through to her head. Nope. Zilch. Nada. Except for when her ONLY and most favorite OLDER SISTER offered herself up as a human punching bag????
Kinsay's feet unstuck from the floor real fast and she practically LEAPT over to cling to Phoebe, (who was, in turn, clinging to the portrait frame). Lots of clinging happening here, apparently. Arms wrapped tight. Never letting go, Titanic 1997. Kiz still wasn't feeling brave enough to say anything (some Gryffindor she was), but did shake her head in protest. She shook her head a whole lot. So much. So much adamant head shaking.

The part of him that was not internally SCREAMING was strangely calm, as if he already lost all hope of saving his students. Therefore, Aguilar was initially surprised that Rosier changed his decision. The shock was quickly followed by immense relief - he could have collapsed and cried with joy!
But he still had ah, punishments to deal with. Punishments that would satisfy the inquisitorial squad, yet protect students from real harm ... He wondered what Gabriela had in mind. He was thinking along the lines of polishing silver in the trophy room, scooping up poo in the creature sanctuary, even writing lines with the torture quill sounded gentle considering that some of them were almost taken to the courtyard for a public execution.
Uh, Phoebe was offering her teeth? That was awfully selfless of her, but he was really hoping to avoid hurting anyone. "That's not an option, Miss James. All of you must be punished so that you learn your lesson properly," he said, his expression completely neutral as a result of the strange calmness that still controlled him.
"Yes, the armour gallery. Let's go," he nodded to Gabriela and pointed down the corridor, allowing the students to lead the way. At the hooded figures who had hold of Bernadette and Kale, he said in a low voice: "Please let them go. You can come with us, but please do not touch the students."

Aboli was starting to feel less and less of that suffocating fear and more and more anger. Anger at Kale and Bernie for nearly getting themselves killed and the rest of them tortured, probably. WHY had she stopped to talk? WHY?
And when Phoebe James spoke up, Aboli had already started moving towards the Armour Gallery like Professor Aguilar had said to do. "I agree with Phoebe, Professor. For the record. All of us just turned up to see what she and Bernie were doing." She narrowed her eyes at the Gryffindor. She liked Bernie. She didn't want to see Bernie hurt. BUT BUT BUT SHE AND PHOEBE HAD BEEN AT FAULT AND ABOLI DID NOT MUCH FEEL LIKE GETTING IN TROUBLE.
She had been so GOOOOD and not getting in trouble. Not mouthing off, which had been her main problem last term. Anyway....

Fear was now seeping into every inch of her body as Bella heard Professor Aguilar's instructions. Was he on the hoodlooms side? Maybe not since he didn't want the cloaked men to touch them, but she didn't trust him. He'd have to show her that she could. Bella kept quiet, eyes darting from one peer to the other. It seemed pointless to protest like the others did. She wasn't even sure she understood what she was being punished for doing. Bella had the instinct feeling that asking why proably wasn't wise, so she she just turned on her heels and started walking away from the portrait corridor and towards the armour gallery. Inside she wished she was in her dorm, hugging her snake.

They were disappointed by the change of mind but you would never know. The hooded figures nodded their understanding, releasing the Gryffindors that had been in their grasp.
They would follow and they would ensure things were up to standard. For the professors' sake, they had better hope so.
The pair walked past Rosier, following the group along in foreboding silence.
