Professor Peralta's office is quite like her, full of personality. Comfortable seating, colorful accents, and eclectic art pieces create a cool and creative space for the Charms professor to spend time in. A candid magical picture of her family sits on her desk, a reminder of home and a reason to smile on more stressful days. Her sphynx, Isadora, can be found curled up on her favorite fleece throw or crouched on the couch, looking aloof.
Office hours are listed just to the right of the office door. If you need to speak with Professor P, please don't forget to knock. She'll invite you in when she's ready for you.
OOC: Please just have your charrie knock and we'll be with you shortly!
Aboli had observed her professors the first few months of school and had made her decision. And so, with her decision in mind, she came to a stop in front of Peralta's office. She knew the woman's office hours and was making sure to stop in between one of the windows.
She knocked delicately and waited.

Neva was curled up on the sofa in her office, sipping tea and watching Isadora go after the magical birds she'd conjured. Merlin knew she needed her exercise and she wasn't one to enjoy typical cat toys. No, Isadora liked a challenge.
Hearing a knock, the charms professor stood up from her seat, moving towards the windows. "Come in!" Sorry Isadora, but she could hardly have a guest with the birds flying around. Opening the windows, they made their escape much to the displeasure of the feline. "Oh, don't look at me like that. You can have your fun later, I promise."
Aboli didn't waste a second; she slipped into Peralta's office. The sight of that gorgeous cat made her eyes widen. She almost squealed......almost. "Oh my, Professor! Your cat is really pretty! What's her or HIS name?!" she immediately took a seat on the couch. If the cat wanted to get to know her, she would approach Aboli. The Slytherin did not mess with cats first. That was how you got SCRATCHED.
The appearance of a cat almost got her off track, but she quickly zoned in on the professor's face. "I have important stuff to speak with you about, Professor. Really important." As if Aboli didn't look serious enough just now.

She was very pretty. Something about Izzy's eyes. They were piercing and beautiful and Neva had known she was taking her home from the moment she'd seen her. Love at first sight was most definitely real, at least when it came to creatures. "Thank you, Aboli. Her name is Isadora." The brunette closed the windows once more and leaned against the sill, watching the cat size up their guest. After a moment, the sphynx sniffed at the seventh year before deciding she wasn't as interesting as a nap would be.
"Alright, let's talk. Would you like some tea?" Talking about really important stuff was usually easier over tea and the professor's mug was nearly empty now.
Isadora. Ahh. Aboli simply nodded in response. "Oh, no thank you, no tea for me. But please, get yourself some before we begin," she said with all the confidence of someone who owned an office herself, when in fact she did NOT. She just didn't want Professor Peralta to feel like she needed to rush in making tea. "I just meant, like, it's important, but you can make tea first." She nodded and watched the cat.
Her hands, gloved, were not staying still. They seemed to never stay still lately. She was too nervous, too anxious and fidgety.
"Also, it maybe won't seem important to you, anyway."

Neva raised an eyebrow, amused. The fact that Miss Song was giving her permission to get herself tea in her own office was, well, quite humorous. "Or I can make tea while we chat. I think you'll find I'm quite capable of multitasking." She offered the seventh year a smile as she moved to put the kettle on. Thank you, magic.
"You might be surprised." The Slytherin didn't know her very well, after all. "Why don't you start talking and we'll see how it goes."
Aboli smiled smally at Peralta's subtle cheek. It was friendly cheek, not sarcastic really. Aboli could feel a warmth from the woman that was very welcome to her. She stayed perched on the couch, her eyes darting from the cat, to the window, then back to Peralta often. Fidgeting, yes.
"Since NEWT level courses often require nonverbals, I made it a point last year to try and conquer every spell I learned in year one through five nonverbally before moving on to more advanced spells. It seems I've got the lower levels all good, but the more advanced ones - especially ones we're learning this year, in my final NEWT level year - are a bit more difficult. I've just mostly been practicing on my own....are you any good at nonverbals, professor?" she tried to sound as BUSINESS as possible. Not like she was going to judge Peralta for her answer which she totally was. But Peralta didn't need to know that!

So this was about charms. Well, at least this ensured she could be of some use. For a moment she’d been worried this one had come for relationship advice or something. The relief she was feeling was real.
”I’d dare to say I’m extremely skilled at nonverbals.” Considering this was her area of expertise and all. ”And as your professor, I do think continued practice is the best way to master any nonverbal spell, particularly the more advanced ones.” She wasn’t here looking for a quick fix, was she? ”Is there one in particular you’re hoping to succeed at?”
No relationship advice needed, fortunately enough. Plus, Aboli would rather go to someone like Recard for that. If an adult at all. Well, her first choice would be her mother, but since outside mail was currently restricted. Hmph. Recard would do. Again, if she wanted an adult's input at all. Noah, redheaded Noah, was usually her advice giver for those things. Him, or Fiona. Fiona was smart about that stuff too, honestly.
REGAAAARDLESS,
Aboli was here for SPELLWORK. "No ma'am, not one. All of them. I have a list of the ones I've mastered, the ones I'm close to mastering, and the ones I'm...struggling with. I was wondering if once a week we could practice. More like...I practice, you watch and give me tips. Like a tutoring session. I could pay you....." She cleared her throat, "Once summer comes. Since I don't have access to funds right now. Or I could do favors for you. Or whatever. I'll do whatever you want me to do! I just want your expertise. Please," she averted her gaze to glance back at the cat. Where had it gone??? She didn't feel safe with a roaming cat around.
It also hadn't occurred to her that any professor would want to tutor for free. They would most likely want something in return, since Aboli essentially operated the same way for people she had little relationship with. Peralta was new here, and therefore had no stakes in Aboli's success. So what did she care?

A faint whistling slowly filled the air, growing louder with each moment that passed. ”That’ll be the kettle.” Miss Song was welcome to keep trying to bond with Isadora while she made herself a cup of tea, yes? Brilliant.
Once she was set, hands wrapped around her mug, the brunette moved over to a cozy arm chair and took a seat. ”A tutoring session, huh?” Neva fought a smile when the girl actually offered to pay her. She did know that she was already getting paid to do this job, yes? And helping students with their charm work was most definitely in the job description. ”How about you claim an hour during my office hours each week. And all I want in return is your help.” It was likely something she was already doing, but Neva hoped her request would maybe urge her to take her efforts a bit further. ”I would like you to take a special interest in the younger students, particularly those more likely to get themselves into trouble if left to their own devices.” She got how that could be a bad thing, right? ”Maybe partner with one in class, help one with homework. Anything you can do to help keep them safe would be payment enough for me.” She paused to take a sip of her tea. ”So, what do you say?”
