Gryffindor Table

https://s26.postimg.cc/qrvbl2v15/gry...ble-banner.jpg
For those who belong in Gryffindor House, on the left side of the Great Hall is where your table awaits. Red banners containing an embroidered golden lion float above the polished table in honour of the brave Godric Gryffindor. Already placed on the tables are silver plates with accompanying cutlery and goblets. All that is missing right now are the mountains of food and pitchers containing your favourite beverages.

Though your stomach might be growing as you take a seat on one of the long benches next to the table, it is important to not get hangry -- gnawing your arm away or jabbing your fork repeatedly on the surface of the table will do no good whatsoever. Give everyone some time to get settled in and wait for Headmaster Trent to deliver his speech. Keep yourself preoccupied by catching up with your fellow housemates or those who are visiting from the other tables until it is time to sink your teeth into the hearty and delicious meal prepared by the house-elves.

for anyone <3

Summer had been the BEST. All those long talks with mum that left her feeling slightly embarrassed, but understood and a lot more at ease about life. So. much. quidditch. practice. Her dad might be getting older, but the man still had skills and Cecelia soaked up every BIT of his advice and instruction, always leaving the pitch with a grin on her face. And Sammy? Well, he was growing up and she was starting to see that and it made her BIG TIME emotional, but also really proud? Because her little bro was becoming a friend, too, which was BIG time cool. And then she'd gotten time with her friends, who were growing up too. She could sometimes feel the changes more than see them, but she was definitely aware that they were there and just grateful that nothing had changed SO much that they weren't all still besties. Well, most of them...Things still felt BIG TIME off with Catherine. It was something she didn't know how to fix.

With summer being as busy as it was and as fun as it was, the time went by that much quicker and before she knew it, here she was back in the great hall for her FIFTH year. It was exciting. SHE was excited and maybe a little nervous about being old enough that she had to start figuring things out about the future, but MOSTLY excited. Her friends were here. Her crush was here. TAVIE was back. It was going to be an epic term, she could feel it in her bones.

Flopping right down at the Gryffindor table, the willowy blonde looked around in search of familiar faces.

Lissy Longbottom 01-01-2021 05:22 PM

SECOND YEAR! AHHHHH! Adam was SO excited to finally NOT be a first year anymore. He somehow felt...far more mature now that he was a second year, even though it had just been a few months. He WAS super tall compared to last term after all ok he'd grown like three inches but that was a LOT. He knew in the back of his mind that this wasn't true, of course, but still. It gave him motivation to focus more this term than last term. He'd done OK, but he could do better for sure.

"Hi!" he said happily as he plopped down next to an older girl (Cecelia) whose name he couldn't recall but he knew he'd seen around.

BanaBatGirl 01-01-2021 05:37 PM

All of Bernie's fears and sadness from earlier, on the train, were gone now, as she felt RIGHT and HAPPY just being back at Hogwarts. It felt like home, more than anything else.

With a happy sigh, she plopped down across from Cece and near.... uh, the second year. Luck, or something, was his name. "Hi guys," she greeted them brightly. "Are you excited for the feast?" Bernie was, even though she'd eaten like six cookies or something like that on the train. She could probably go for something savory now, mhmmm.

PhoenixRising 01-01-2021 05:41 PM

hiiii :3

He still couldn't believe that he was REALLY at Hogwarts!!!!! The newly sorted Lion was undeniably ecstatic as he took one of the empty seats at the Gryffindor table, beaming excitedly at the older kids already seated. "Hiiii!!! I'm Apollo!!" He said quickly in introduction, but didn't elaborate too long because his attention was back on his fellow first years waiting to be sorted. Particularly on one dark-haired girl.

Oh please let her be a Gryffindor, he found himself muttering, crossing his fingers under the table. At least her being a C meant she wasn't long after his own sorting, so perhaps the hat would remember??! It remembered his own parents afn family members, some of whom were sorted like DECADES ago, so surely it would remember something he said like five minutes ago.

TakemetotheBurrow 01-01-2021 05:57 PM

Well hello there smol energetic little lion child. "Hi there! It's good to be back, isn't it?" The people, the food, the adorable house elves that delighted Cecelia. No really, she could never really shake the urge to squish them. So cute. Those EYES. The EARS. GAH!

"Excited for the food!" Cecelia picked up a spoon and wiggled it playfully at Bernie. "Hope the speech is short and-well, it won't be sweet, will it?" The headmaster had been the WORST all last term and her hopes weren't exactly high about the man's ability to set the term off on a happy note.

Aww, another tiny guy. Cecelia remembered her first feast all those many many moons ago. The wonder, the excitement. It had been the BEST! Or it would've been if it hadn't been at Beauxbatons, but you know.. "Welcome to Gryffindor Apollo! I'm Cece."

Daydreamer11 01-01-2021 07:58 PM

Anyone

This was it.......well, this was it Part 2. Camryn had survived the sorting and now it was time to meet her fellow Gryffindors. She walked toward her house table, putting on her brave and confident face. “This is going to be great”, she told herself. “I get to meet new people, make new friends.” Yeah right, it was a good thing that she was a convincing actress because the anxiety was real,

Taking a deep breath, Camryn observed the group of students already seated at the table. Most of them were older and that didn’t exactly make her feel comfortable. Smile on her face, she sat near the boy she had seen in the sorting line. (Apollo). At least she wasn’t the only newbie at the table. “Hi”, she said to no one in particular. Man this was uncomfortable.

siriusblackliveson 01-01-2021 08:04 PM

Ugh, the robes were absolutely atrocious. Did they actually need to wear them for the sorting and the opening feast. The answer was undoubtedly no. Yet, here Charlie was wearing the boring, stiff, and drab robes with disdain all across her face. Her hair bounced as she walked further into the great hall and tried to find a seat. She glanced at Cece, but she was talking to everyone and today, well today Charlie wanted nothing to do with that.

Scanning the table for any other familiar face she realized most of her friends were not in Gryffindor. How did this happen. Sighing she chose a spot far enough away from Cece that she wouldn't have to be that involved with the conversations of first years. Giving a small waive and a smile she decided she ought to greet everyone "hi everyone."

Harron Peasley 01-01-2021 11:25 PM

Hair bouncing, uniform askew, knee freshly grazed - it was definitely the beginning of term, and Gabrielle was entering the Great Hall as she pretty much always did. She glanced towards the Ravenclaw table even as her footsteps took her automatically in the direction of the Gryffindor one, eyes searching out her boyfriend.

Boyfriend!!! She was still not over it, but Leighton had only asked her at the beginning of summer and it really didn't feel like that long ago. Gabrielle was also still not over the idea that this was her final year at school. Sure, she was so ready to leave, but her dad wasn't too keen on her idea of travelling the world during a gap year - and she hadn't even told him that university wasn't in her plans at all.

Ugh. Growing up was hard. Flopping into a seat, Gabrielle offered smiles at the various people already seated at the table, but was soon lost in a daydream, twirling a curl around her finger.

DaniDiNardo 01-02-2021 12:28 AM

"Beeeeeeeerrrrrnnniiiieeeeeeeee!!!"

That was the first lion Emmerson saw as she approached the Gryffindor table--her possessed!buddy--and thusly the one she lunged at from behind. Emm wrapped her arms about the girl, leaning over with full trust the older girl would support both their weight. "It's been like foooreeevvveerrr. I bet I look so much more GROWN, huh? It's okay, you can say it--look, lipgloss."

Without waiting for much permission, the now S E C O N D~ year wiggled herself into the seat, nudging down whoever had been sitting there. Enough space for both her AND Kizzy who would obviously be along any second.

"Adam! Second Years!! We gotta celebrate after." The only somewhat little girl squeal, being sure to keep it to a level that wouldn't alert the.....huh???

Before she could greet the sister-in-law proper, Emmerson realized a very important empty chair up at the dais. "Guys! Guys guys guys!!" To any and everyone listening. Despite her enthusiasm, Emmerson Cambridge was sure to keep her voice down. SHE didn't want detention the first night back, thanks. "Trent isn't theeeerreee!! You think he got fired??? You think we finally got
a nice Headmaster--it could be a Headmistress. Women are sensible. We'd do great with one."

Barely an hour at Hogwarts and her spirit was already lifting exponentially.

"Maybe we'll have a great year afterall."

Cassirin 01-02-2021 02:03 AM

Phoebe squished in beside Cece and immediately wrapped an arm around her waist. It was her way of apologizing for being SUCH a weirdo on the train, but of all people, she had a feeling that Cece understood. Turned out that Cece understood most everything and a great Emotional Support Gryffindor when in need.

"I don't think he's fired, Emm," Phoebe didn't move from Cece's side, but she did turn just her eyes to the exuberant second year. "It would have been the only thing my grandmother wanted to talk about this summer, and she wouldn't hear a woooord about him one way or another. But he's late and I'm hungry, so here's hoping someone else will give a speech. Heck, I'll give it. I'm great at speeches."

Bernie got a blown kiss, and Adam got a wink, and Cece got ALL the cuddles.

Anna Banana 01-02-2021 03:32 AM

As excited as she was about finally being at Hogwarts and finding out she was a Gryffindor, Delilah was somewhat nervous about approaching a whole table full of unknown people. She slowed down as she glanced over the table. Her best course of action was to probably sit by some of the younger kids.

She sat down amongst two boys (Adam and Apollo) and two girls (Camryn and Emmerson) who she guessed were all either first or second years. "Hey. I'm Delilah," she said, to those who didn't seem too deep in conversation with other people. The next logical thing to say would be that she was a first year Gryffindor, but she was sure they had all figured that out by now.

Instead, she looked down at all the plates and goblets that sat empty before then. Fancy. A lot fancier than what she was used to. So, uhh...when was the food going to arrive? She was starving! That train ride must have been almost ten hours long! Thinking about the train made her think of her new friend Ashley. Too bad they hadn't ended up in the same house.

ArianaBlack 01-02-2021 06:06 AM

Kinsay wasn’t late, she just had to pee reaaaaaaaaaaaaal bad. There was so much going on between boarding the train, the ride itself, and the carriages that Kizzy couldn’t bear to leave her friends for even a moment. She didn’t want to miss anything important. The fomo was real. So very real.

Unfortunately her teeny tiny bladder could not hold for any longer so she did have to slip away, but only for a little bit!!! Because she was soon scurrying towards the Gryffindor table and past the seventh year with the pretty hair to sit with all the people she loved and also Bernie, apparently. How come Emm got a spot near her?! Didn’t she know that Bernie was a big bully?

Before taking the spot next to her BEST FRIEND EVER IN THE WHOLE UNIVERSE AND BEYOND, she paused to give Phoebe a giant hug from behind. ”The best at speeches,” she beamed in confirmation. Hi, sister. Cece got a squish too. ”You look taller, Cece!” Did everyone else grow over the holiday too!? Kinsay had grown a whole four centimeters and she was exceeding proud of it.

Even Adam received a friendly wave, while all the new kids received blank stares. Bernadette got a stare too and then Kinsay finally slipped into the spot next to Emmerson. Everything was as it should be. What were they talking about again? Missing Headmaster?

”Maybe he’s dead.” Was Kinsay’s innocent contribution to the discussion. She didn’t hope he was dead (even though he was horrible and mean in all the ways), but it would be neat to see! Maybe he’d even turn into a ghost. Her only real reservation in this regard was the impact it'd have on her friend, Mavis.

siriusblackliveson 01-02-2021 12:11 PM

Charlie's head was going back and forth hearing Phoebe and Kinsay talk about the headmaster being missing from the table upfront. "I didn't even notice that. Of course this could have been the one time I could get away with wearing something cute." she huffed out very annoyed. Like seriously. She could have looked so cute like obviously she would have changed her outfit but she would have looked so absolutely cute instead of drab and like everyone else.

Just as she was about to go back to speculating on her own she heard Kinsay speak up. "Oh that's dark." and it was but maybe after everything it was kind of true. He did throw all of the students to the wolves a lot of times. She had to fight a kid in detention for Merlins sake. Setting an elbow on the table and putting her chin in her hand she was all ears for where everyone thought Trent was and what may or may not have happened to him.

pundantic 01-02-2021 07:01 PM

Kale had rolled up to the Lion Table with his friends in good spirits. Even though Mavis had been needy on the train, which kept him from the other fifth years, he didn’t miss a beat, as they all shuffled into the hall, falling right back into that Gryffindor comfort with all his buds.

But he was perhaps a lil distracted.

He wasn’t looking at the Staff Table per say. But he wasn’t NOT looking up there. The blonde Trent hadn’t seen his father all summer when he decided he was going to just abandon his family. Tonight would be the first time since the term ended that he peaked a glance at his once loving father. And he wasn’t even here yet.

sweetpinkpixie 01-03-2021 02:25 AM

with Aries (Samia) and a couple of mentions scattered in here too! We wanna play!!!

First order of business: tackling his brother in a very blatant public display of affection and emotion.

Each step towards the Gryffindor table made the 11-year-old feel just a little bit lighter, though he couldn't quite explain why. He didn't really want to think about the why either. There was a sort of pride knowing that he had been Sorted into the house dad had been the Head of House for before he and his siblings were born. It made him feel like he fit in a bit more than previously assumed. He hadn't exactly thought himself the black sheep of the Flamsteed household but, well, Aries was so much more like dad and Andromeda such an elegant balance between mum and dad, and then here he was...kind of pigeon holing himself to be more like mom because the scales needed tipped and balanced.

...or something like that.

It was also nice to feel a connection to dad since, well, he hadn't felt as connected to him over the past couple of years.

"Aries!" the smarter younger twin exclaimed. "We're both lions! Like dad! He will be soooooooo relieved that we weren't sorted into Ravenclaw!" Which, well, Atlas had somewhat had dreams about and it had its appeal.

Giving his brother a sturdy squish, Atlas' forget-me-not-blues darted around the table and scanned the faces that he could actually see now. There were a few he recognized from the first year boats, and he wasn't just talking about Professor Williamson (or ~William~ as Auntie Jade referenced him). He a wanted to give the man another hug though as a manner of thanks for giving him permission to bring Araneus to Hogwarts..and maybe to see if he could get the man to make that same shocked and befuddled face again. It was like the man had been struck by a Confundus Charm WHILE standing in a pile of fresh dragon dung. Though, well, Atlas had been under the impression that the Creatures professor LIKED dragon dung ... so perhaps that was not the best metaphor to roll out with. Oh well.

There was a girl [Anna Banana] who he had been standing close to while waiting for his turn, so he knew her last name came before F and that was about it. He flashed her a quick grin before his eyes drifted beyond her and to the other faces...like the one older blonde [Cassirin] who he had spotted on the platform...and then again in the train corridor...and then again when the first years had been ushered down the row between two house tables up towards the dais to await their Sorting. Wow she was really pretty and more than that was this FEELING he got. She was definitely someone he wanted to get to know and form an unrequited crush on. Tick.

He hadn't heard any of the other conversations going on prior to his arrival, save for the unfortunate timing about hearing something about someone dying and it didn't sound like she was talking about Nearly Headless Nick. "Someone died already?!" Atlas asked, eyes wide. "Was it dementors?"

Which reminded him NOT to eat any ice cream offered to him while here at Hogwarts. He best give Aries a hard elbow to the ribs about it too.

The Narrator 01-03-2021 03:04 PM

Quote:

The large double doors to the Great Hall burst open with a flourish, their large frames banging against the wall on either side. Was it a great gust of wind? The next second proved elsewise as the Headmaster made his way into the room and up to the dais.

Without a word to any seated at the dais, the man took his spot at the centre of the table. He wore a smug little half smile that spoke volumes to a secret only he knew.

Rather, it was a secret he would no longer have to keep.

As the Headmaster took his seat, the strangest thing happened. The skin at his face began to bubble, as did the skin at his hands. If the man was fazed by this new development, he did not show it. Instead, the smile grew to a sinister grin. Messages had been sent off before he entered the Great Hall. Everything was falling into plan well and for the first in a long time, he was properly delighted.

In no time, the skin had peeled away and the hair took on its own transformation. Soon enough the Headmaster....seemed much less like the Headmaster and entirely like someone else.

Curious, indeed.

DaniDiNardo 01-03-2021 03:17 PM

Leave it to Phoebe to be the absolute voice of reason in her moment of high hopes. Emmerson pulled a face, not at her friend but at the fact her friend was likely right. If they fired Trent it really WOULD have been all over everywhere. Mummy would have seen it in the Daily Prophet and at LEAST four of her friends would have owled and or mirrored her to make sure she heard the good news.

"Like Kizzy says then, maybe he's dead. Maybe he went back to that forest he loves so much and one of those spiders he likes feeding kids to got him." Not dark at all, just poetic justice for a horridly mean man who wouldn't stop calling her best friend "incessant".

Emmerson hushed some with her talk of the Headmaster when Kale came to the table--being his d a d and all, but decorum went out the door when one of the Flamsteed twins asked about dementors.

"Couldn't be. It has to be the spiders." She turned to the Firstie (Delilah) who'd introduced herself in her direction, figuring now that she was a SECOND YEAR and all, she should set the right tone for the newbs. "Welcome to Gryffindor, Delilah. The House with the worst Head of House in existe--"

The sudden bang of the Great Hall doors caused Emm to jump....right into Kizzy's lap. It took her a full 10 seconds before catching her composure. WHO walked into rooms like that??? No, really, W H O????

Seeing Headmaster Trent, the Second Year's face soured as she slid back onto her part of the bench. "Figures it'd be.....him............."

O____________O

The little girl's jaw fell slack, opening in an obvious gape as she stared at the man who was her Head of House then suddenly was an entirely different person.

"Um....um.........um..........tell me I'm not the only one seeing this."

TakemetotheBurrow 01-03-2021 03:20 PM

It had been nice, the cuddles from Phoebe that warmed her and made her smile. The comfort she found in them. She hoped they helped Fee as well, sensing the things her best friend was feeling since the train ride, even if they hadn't been said out loud. "Looks like you've got another career option on the table, Feebs. Headmistress. I could definitely see it." She offered the blonde a grin just as Kinsay arrived and added to the squish fest. Was this what it was like to have sisters? If so, Cecelia liked it very much. Phoebe didn't mind sharing, right? "I did get taller. You did too, you know. You're looking very grown up." She winked at the younger lioness. What she didn't mention was that the getting taller meant she felt even more like a giant noodle than she normally did, but what could you do?

Speaking of what one could and couldn't do, Cece would really appreciate it if everyone would stop speculating about the headmaster. Especially with Kale feeling how Kale had been feeling. She felt this surge of protectiveness as she glanced at him, hoping he was tuning out the comments of the younger years.

"No one has died. At least not yet. Let's make it our goal to keep it that way this term, alright?"

...

Cecelia jumped when the doors slammed open, her gaze shifting from Kale to the headmaster and back again. She couldn't imagine what him and Mavis must be fee-

G A S P !

"No." No no no no no. And yet. "That's-but-" She was at a loss, and she was confused, and she was scared because if that wasn't Trent, then where WAS he? "Kale?" Kale. Oh no. Kale...

pundantic 01-03-2021 03:40 PM

Kale Trent had bristled when his father had strode into the Great Hall with borderline peacock energy. The sheer audacity to abandon their family to carry on with some other person and act smug about it. He hated him. He was devastated by the betrayal. And worst of all, he had never seen this dramatic change in his Dad coming.

He’d been the best Dad. Or, well, he’d been a good one. For all of their troubles, and they’d had loads, he never expected his father to turn on his family. It was worse than cruel.

But he refused to look at the man head-on. He wouldn’t give him the satisfaction.

Until...

There was a ripple of gasps in the hall. People were up in arms, shouting, and so Kale lifted his eyes to look.

His world ended in a moment. The proverbial rug was pulled out from beneath his feet.

Dad?

The fifth year burst into tears. His back shook from the wave of grief that seemed to hit him over and over again. He couldn’t breathe. He was drowning.

If that wasn’t his father, then what happened to him? What did they do to him?

Between fits of tears, the little lion in him started to rumble as anger and devastation burst from him like a force. Tears streamed down his face, when he shouted, ”Where is my Dad? What have you done with him??”

BanaBatGirl 01-03-2021 04:14 PM

everyone but mostly lookin' @ you neo-alliance weirdos

One minute, Bernie was beaming at Cece and Phoebe, trying to figure out which of them was their new prefect, since it certainly wasn't her, and the next she was being choked out--- er, hugged from behind--- from a friendly little second year.

Oh! Emmerson! She liked her. "Yes, uh, nice lip gloss," Bernie wheezed, rubbing her neck a bit once the girl sat down. Someone tell her she hadn't brought Kinsay James with her... ope, never mind, there she was. Annoying little bugger. Bernie caught her breath and chuckled along at everyone's theories about the Headmaster, though privately she thought it was a bit cruel of them to gossip when Kale and Mavis were, like, right there at their table. Even the first years were getting in on the theories, though it wasn't very nice to theorize about the Trent kids' dad being dea----

Actually, maybe that was the truth. Bernie gaped at the staff table when the doors to the Great Hall flung open, all thoughts of where Trent could be replaced by what, exactly, had happened to him. She had the same thought as Kale, though she didn't stand up. She was overwhelmed by the number of... of... weirdos??!?? streaming into the Great Hall?!?!? Forget Trent's face melting off--- she'd be seeing that in her nightmares tonight--- they were being surrounded!!!!

She flicked her wand into her hand and gestured wildly, carelessly with it. "What? WHO? WHO ARE ALL THESE PEOPLE?!" Eww, and why did they smell so DISGUSTING???

siriusblackliveson 01-03-2021 04:26 PM

kale

Everything seemed like a joke or at least more light hearted than it was now. The loud banging of the Headmaster entering the great hall. Except. Oh no. Glancing at Kale she got real nervous there were tears. Down his entire face. Her eyes kept glancing from the front of the room to Kale.

"Kale..." Her curls bounced as she glanced back at the front of the room and back to him. "Are you okay?" Sure they weren't close or anything but she at least thought he could use her help to deal with whatever this was.

ArianaBlack 01-03-2021 05:33 PM

“You think so?” She perked up, giving Cece another quick hug before she made her way to Emm. Kinsay felt really grown up too, now that she had a boyfriend and wasn’t a baby first year anymore.

Speaking of baby first years. Kinsay recognized one of the new Gryffindors (Aries) from Diagon Alley and he had a TWIN. Did his twin also go following people around? Because if so, could someone tell them both to stop? It was unsettling. But still, she gave Aries a small smile (which was far more than she had given any of the other first years), only tuning back into the conversation to hear Emmerson greeting someone named Delilah and—

UMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM !!!

The sudden loud sound of the Great Hall doors caused Kizzy to GASP and she was very ill-prepared for the Emmerson Cambridge that had just landed in her lap. But it made clinging a lot easier, so Kinsay James went ahead and did just that.

Otherwise, she simply went silent. Because that’s what Kinsays did when they were scared out of their minds.

Anna Banana 01-03-2021 05:50 PM

Delilah gave a casual look around the table and reminded herself that it was tough to be the new kid. It didn't bother her to be the new kid, but it was kind of awkward and boring to sit here with nobody to talk to. Most of the others were wrapped up in conversation with people they already knew. Delilah smiled back at a few people who'd tossed a glance her way, but she otherwise just stayed quiet. Not much else to do until the food arrived.

That is, until the doors of the Great Hall burst open, and everything seemed to change in the blink of an eye. Delilah was new here and pretty much didn't have a clue as to how things worked, but something told her this wasn't supposed to be happening. She gave a quick glance to some of the others at the table, but they seemed to be just as surprised as she was.

"Uhhh, who is that?" she whispered to a kid next to her, because surely somebody knew, right? She'd heard horror stories about weird things happening at this place, but the stories weren't true, were they? Delilah didn't have time to wonder about any of that, because they were soon joined by a group of...uhh, who were these people?

Lissy Longbottom 01-03-2021 06:00 PM

What in the WHAT was HAPPENING?!

Adam watched silently, his blue eyes practically bugging out of his head as Trent melted away to reveal a totally new guy, and then a bunch of the new guys friends he assumed they were friends, or at least members of his gang and suddenly...they were surrounded. Why did Adam feel like he was in trouble for doing absolutely nothing?!

There was...a lot going on. Kale was screaming - as he should be, because if that had been HIS dad up there he'd have reacted the same way. People looked confused. They were all yelling. He was pretty sure someone fainted...

And then, Adam was overcome by a weird feeling. He had a feeling in the pit of his stomach that he had to do...SOMETHING. Like if he just sat here, he would be an accomplice, and would essentially be sitting down and letting these people take over Hogwarts. Because that was DEFINITELY why they were there, right?? To take over? That was why fake!Trent was one of their guys.

Of course, he didn't know WHAT he could do that was at all helpful, so...he took his napkin, balled up it, and threw it RIGHT at the back of the head of one of the goons that was standing nearby. "Oi! You don't belong here!" he yelled at him.

There. That would help a bit, yes?

sweetpinkpixie 01-03-2021 06:17 PM

Oh. Well, there was relief in that no one had died yet and that dementors (probably) were not involved in anything either. But that older girl's mention of "yet" was a bit too morbid for Atlas' liking and he nearly asked her if she was expecting someone to die or perhaps even planning on something herself...but he never got the chance to ask his misinformed question.

Also none the wiser to the fact that the topic had been about someone's dad and that someone(s) was right here at the table. Or, at least he was none the wiser until everything started imploding at once.

The BANG of the doors swinging open had Atlas jumping with frightful surprise practically INto Aries' lap with his arms around his brother's neck. Atlas was NOT a scardy cat...but some bets were off when he was utterly taken by surprise. There was some relief when he saw that it was just the headmaster entering, but the relief soon turned to confusion which then gave was to horror as the man's face seemed like it was melting off like wax next to a hot flame. Screaming, gasping, unknown creeperdoodles suddenly pouring into the Great Hall and flanking all the tables like parasites...Atlas didn't know where to look first. And then he heard one of the older students ask what had happened to his dad...and something gruesome clicked inside Atlas stomach and shut down all other emotions.

What have you done with him?

How many times had he and Aries stayed up late in their bunk beds wondering just what had been eating at dad recently to have him acting strangely. Thoughts were triggered and he felt as though his entire being all the way down to his soul were experiencing spaghettification. Numbness took over and for a brief moment he felt nothing, which was a whole lot nicer than what he had been feeling.

But then one of these strangers was in his line of sight and Atlas gasped a lot louder than he intended to (read: he had not intended on making any sound and was honestly surprised that he could at all). "Those...those..." Lifts a finger and points at one of the strangers. "...those tattoos....those are...those Azkaban tattoos!"

And then one of his housemates had THROWN something at one of them. Sure it was just a wadded up piece of paper...but STILL! Natural selection.

...but could he throw something at one of them too?

Mention of Charlie & Delilah

Camryn was busy feeling invisible and not enjoying the feast so far when someone (Charlie) actually sent a general greeting to the table. “Hi”, she replied to the girl with a hopeful smile. Then a fellow first year sat down near her. “Hi Delilah. I’m Camryn.” This girl seemed nice. Maybe Cam wasn’t destined to to spend seven years in friendless solitude. Maybe. Cam Noticed Delilah looking down at the plates, “I’m starving. I hope we get to eat soon.”

She was just about to offer her new housemate a Chocolate Frog when the doors to the Great Hall opened with a bang. Camryn almost jumped out of her seat, she was so startled. She watched the man who entered the room heading up to the staff table. And then...........the man’s face started to melt before her eyes. Cam was horrified. Was this some kind of magical joke? Given the fact that everyone else seemed shocked, she guessed not. This was not helping her anxiety one bit. Camryn put her head down on the table, eyes shut tight. ”This is not happening”, she said to herself, as she tried not have a full blown panic attack.

Phoebe was going to tell Charlie that if she couldn't figure out how to look cute while wearing her uniform, she wasn't trying hard enough. It took a roll or two of the skirt waistband, interesting tights, appropriately splashy accessories, hair styling was key, and a signature scent. It wasn't hurting anyone to help the girl out... but then the Headmaster appeared.

Only he wasn't the Headmaster, and he brought friends, and even while Phoebe wanted to throw herself at the nearest hulking brute AND try to hug Kale's tears away AND calm the littles down (where the heck were the PREFECTS, ANYWAY?), she had much bigger bats ringing this particular belfry.

Kizzy. And Emm. "Kale. Where's Mavis?" She hoped that might center him just a little, enough that he didn't do something crazy. Like she wanted to do something crazy. Like the table was full of tiny bottles full of crazy in human forms. She had already pushed off of Cece to put an arm around Kizzy (and Emm in her lap). Her body was between them and the Hulks. "Don't make me send you home strapped to an owl."

Gabrielle was pulled from her day dreaming as gasps and shouts went up around the hall. She was slightly annoyed and a little intrigued as her eyes searched out the source of the uproar, but her own gasp was strangled as the horror of what was happening dawned on her.

If that wasn't the headmaster, then where was he?, She glanced quickly around, noticing Kale's tears and feeling the pangs of sadness for the younger boy wash over her. But that didn't last for long - the sadness was soon replaced by worry, urgency and adrenaline, fueling her as the seventh year saw what Adam had done.

Gabrielle didn't think about warning looks, she dealt in actions - and had she been Adam's age, she might well have done the same. But being older and wiser (or something), she knew what a mistake like that could cost him. These strange people didn't look like hurting a kid would phase them. Slipping out of her seat, she discreetly made her way to where Adam was sitting and took the seat next to him, elbows unapologetically hitting whoever was there. With a look toward the Ravenclaw table, desperately seeking out Leighton, she put a hand on her boyfriend's brothers arm, hoping that he wouldn't throw anything else.

"Adam, don't," her voice was practically pleading, even though she kept it low. Was it even her place to get involved? Gabrielle wasn't sure, but she'd never forgive herself if she didn't and something happened to the kid. And she wasn't sure Leighton would forgive her, either.

Neo-Alliance Followers 01-04-2021 01:24 PM

They took up position along the Gryffindor table, occupying only one side to allow their comrades space on the other. Here, they would wait for the "speech" of sorts and any further directives.

One turned at the crumpled napkin thrown by the tiny (relative to this massing hulk's size) boy (Adam). It was true, hurting children did not faze them and in reply, the man sent a searing amount of paint through the boy's body without ever having raised his wand. The warning came as nothing more than a nasty look but the boy would soon find himself writhing in agony.

The one who shot up asking for his father (Kale) was firmly gripped by both shoulders and shoved downward in an attempt to make him sit. "Quiet, boy!" The follower barked. There would be nothing more about that man they had plucked from the castle a year ago and more to come if he continued resisting.

"I'll break your finger the next time you point it at me." He warned the Flamsteed boy. "And you," The man turned to the girl holding the pair of cowering girls (Phoebe). "Don't do anything stupid. Wouldn't want those girls of your hurt, would you? That goes for the whole lot of you. Nothing else that's stupid."

A hard task for the Gryffindor kind but they would have to manage if they did not want to meet the same fate as the first boy and his associate over there.

pundantic 01-04-2021 02:53 PM

”Don’t touch me!” Kale Trent roared back. The adrenaline that was flooding his bloodstream was certainly of the dumb, lion variety, but he didn’t care. They had done something to his father. His Dad was gone and these people had done it.

Who cared if the grip of the man on his shoulders was low-key tight and threatening?? And who cared if his friends, all in their way, were trying to refocus his attention to something more productive?? He didn’t want to be productive. He wanted his Dad.

He lurched to his feet again, brushing off those hard and demanding hands, and pushed one of the followers square in the chest. “What have you done with him?”

TakemetotheBurrow 01-04-2021 04:55 PM

Sorry kale :3

What even WAS calm right now?

Cecelia was straight up panicking, particularly when fake!Trent’s friends turned up, swarming the hall like angry bees. She was scared. She was scared and she was too far from her little brother to protect him like Phoebe was doing for Kiz and Emm. She stifled the urge to go to him, especially when the strangers were threatening them now. Threatening her people. Her friends. What did she DO?! She wasn’t mature enough for this, but she had to help somehow because Kale was fighting back and he wasn’t thinking and she didn’t want him hurt. And these people would hurt them, she could see that. Their eyes. The way they looked at them. You could just TELL. Kale needed to stop. He wasn’t allowed to get hurt, so she did the only thing she could and pointed her wand at her friend, trying for maybe the first time in EVER to be discreet. ”Stupefy.” She whispered the spell and then hurriedly put her wand away, so guilty about what she’d just done but also praying it worked.

She just hoped he wouldn’t hate her forever for it...

Emmerson was about ready to entirely lose her MIND. Adam and Kale were trying to fight the obvious villains in this narrative. Bernie was waving her wand in a way that made it seem like they were ALL ready to fight (spoiler alert: she was not). Fifi was not holding her and Kizzy nearly tightly enough. This was a mess. Her head was spinning and the moment those massive beasts took charge of the mini revolt, Emmerson knew she would not be trying to make tremendous waves.

Rather, the little girl continued clinging to her bestfriend, snuggling into Fifi was much as she could.

This new Headmaster...Rosier...she just....

WHEN COULD THEY GO HOME AND WHY WASN'T SCHOOL OFFICIALLY CANCELLED????? How was this not grounds to send them all home??? Why were they being forced to go through the school year???

The food arriving was nothing more than salt in deep wounds. Who could think to eat at a time like this????

The form though, she could do that. If it meant making sure her mama knew she was DEFINITELY here, then she could fill it out and hope she came to get her by the weekend.

he isn’t gonna be able to fill out that form, folks

Kale Trent was a silly sort of boy. He did silly things and lived his silly life and had managed to do so quite frivolously for fifteen silly years. He was the kind of boy that was so silly that he really thought he could take on one of the obviously murderous looking men that had done something not-so-silly to his father. In fact, whatever had happened to his father wasn’t silly at all.

So it was probably very wise indeed, and not silly at all, that his friend took it upon herself to stupefy him. And with a thunk, his silly body collapsed unconscious like a silly doll, as if all of the strings that helped keep him up were suddenly cut.

"Do I look like I'm likely to do something stupid? Your mother might have been a cave troll but mine was a Ravenclaw," Phoebe snapped at the man who was standing TOO close. She could tell he was too close because Emmerson... EMMERSON CAMBRIDGE was trembling. No one scared her littles.

She sniffed as she pulled over the form, considering if there was any way to possibly avoid filling it out. Like, couldn't they all just go to bed (and maybe owl their parents somehow, right?)?? But as Phoebe glanced around, noting Cece drawing her wand on Kale and that poor ickle (Flamsteed?) getting berated by troll-man and so on, it became pretty clear they weren't going to get out of there without filling out the form. Fine.

"help i can't read"

....so no one was going to join her, wands out, and GO AFTER THESE WEIRDOS TAKING OVER THEIR SCHOOL?!?

In fact, only Cece (of all people!!!!) was drawing her wand; a fact that should have scared Bernie into sitting back down. She hadn't seen her roommate be this take-charge since they'd been fighting a fire caused by a dragon at Beauxbatons! It shocked her! That, and, uh, the fact that other kids were getting shoved and yelled at and and and.... someone who was most definitely NOT Kale's dad was threatening them and calling it a speech and now they were forms and food...

:dizzy:

It was all so overwhelming, honestly. She found her legs quaking as she sank back to the bench, a stupid form suddenly in front of her. "I don't know how to do this," the lionness muttered LOUDLY. "What does Muggle upliftment mean?"

Should she lie? Tell the truth? She elbowed the person nearest her. "HELP, I CAN'T READ."

This was one of those times when she wished Nem or Eiji or any other Slytherin were sitting next to her, so she could copy their answers.

In the meanwhile? Bernie picked up a roll and slathered it in butter, deciding she could eat and think and pretend to be unable to read.

Anna Banana 01-05-2021 01:18 AM

Somewhere in the chaos of the Great Hall, Delilah had heard Camryn say something to her, but whatever conversation they were about to have was now lost. Truth be told, since Delilah was so new to this magical world and still didn't know what to expect, not too much had surprised her. Well, except for the whole face melting. That had pretty much been a nightmare.

She jumped when one of the kids about her age (Adam) got hit with some kind of...spell? Or whatever that had been. "Are you OKAY?!" she instinctively asked. I mean, obviously NOT, but she didn't know what else to do when somebody got cast on. Then there was another kid (who had a father working here she gathered) (Kale) who was literally freaking out (and within really good reason). Delilah felt tears trickling down her cheeks. They came slowly at first, but now they were coming so quickly that she saw little drip-drops of them on her skirt.

The Headmaster's speech didn't help matters either. Delilah was somewhat new to the magical world, she was new to Hogwarts, and she came here not knowing what to expect at all. All she wanted to do right now, though, was return to the orphanage. She didn't even know who these people were, and now they were talking about the kids possibly joining them? It was true that Delilah wished for a family of her own someday, but this was definitely not what she had in mind.

Regardless, she looked down at the form that she'd suddenly realized was in front of her and began to fill it out.

Because there was no wand, no incantation, no indication that Adam had even registered on the man's radar - when the pain came, he wasn't prepared in the slightest. All of a sudden, it felt like every one of his nerves were on fire. He let out a high pitched YELP and probably would have screamed if the breath hadn't been completely knocked out of him. He crumbled to the floor and out of his chair, twitching as it felt like every atom in his body was exploding. He couldn't breathe, the pressure on his lungs and his stomach and his head was too much...

The initial burst of searing pain finally started to subside after what felt like an eternity, and Adam just...laid there, like a slug. It was his only defense. Silently, tears had started to leak out of his blue eyes, and even though he felt like he had just been dropped from the air, and every bone in his body had been broken...he slowly began to climb back in to his seat after a few minutes. Maybe it was two, maybe it was ten. What was time anymore. He didn't say anything to anyone, avoiding their gaze, his cheeks turning beet red in embarrassment, and just stared at his plate. He didn't feel like eating - and even if he did, he wasn't sure he could stomach anything at the moment without it all coming right back up. He just wanted to be done with the feast so he could go back to his bed, curl up into a ball and sob freely away from prying eyes. He HURT. REALLY bad. He looked at his arms, expecting to see some sort of marks or bruises, but nothing. Just a lingering pain that made him feel like he might need help walking back to his dorm.

Why had he done that?? That had been such an overreaction for a simple napkin throw! Who would want to hurt innocent little kids???

He was focused on anyone BUT these Azkaban jerks, not wanting to even look at them the wrong way out of fear that they might do...THAT again. His pulse started to race as he started to wonder for a second if he had just been Crucio-ed but no, no, that couldn't be right. He hadn't even said an incantation! He hated this. He wanted to go home. He didn't care about anything else right now.

He barely registered that the fake!Trent was speaking, or anything else he said. Next thing he knew, he was being presented with a piece of parchment - seriously? A pop quiz the first night back?! This day could LITERALLY not get any worse. He scanned the form through blurry eyes, pausing at the end. What was muggle upliftment? What did that even mean?

He filled out the form robotically, just wanting to do what they told him so he didn't get hurt again. His hands were sore, and it hurt to hold his quill, so his handwriting was barely legible, but he finished it quickly, pushed it aside, and then placed his head on the table, hiding his face so no one could see him crying.

Her cheeks were wet. It took her a moment to realize why, too distracted by the collapsed form of her friend and the words coming out of man who was most definitely not Headmaster Trent. This wasn’t happening. This was some sort of dream. They were going to be fine.

...She pinched her arm hard and winced, her heart sinking into her stomach as their new reality sunk in.

This was happening. This wasn’t a dream. Nothing was fine.

She wiped at her eyes stubbornly, trying to see through the tears so that she could fill out the form. ”Uplift is like...cheering someone up or on, isn’t it?” She was talking softly, her eyes on her own paper as she answered Bernie. ”Maybe that. I don’t know.” She didn’t much care.

She had been about to introduce herself to two other first-year girls she had noticed during the sorting ceremony (Camryn and Delilah) when the shouting and screaming and unconscious students and...melting headmaster stuff began.

Beth was shaking as she scooted toward the students next to her. She had no clue what she was supposed to be doing and she looked around frantically in a panic. Was this a normal first day at Hogwarts? Some sort of rite of passage or something? She was terrified out of her mind right now and she hadn't even made any friends yet and did her parents even know abou-

AHHHH

She yelped loudly as two of the boys sitting near her collapsed.

They were hurting students??? Tears gathered in her eyes. What the HECK was going on??

"Is he okay???" She asked aloud, eyes wide and staring at the unconscious boy. She turned to the other boy (Adam) and gasped when she realized he was still conscious. "Are you okay?" she asked.

The headmaster's speech made her even more panicky. What the heck was a...what did he say? Neon-alliance? What did they want? They all looked mean and scary. She hated mean people. She looked over the parchment in front of her and shakily began to fill it out. At least her parents would know she was okay, she brushed the stray tears away.

Noah needed a moment.... Or several moments to process everything that was happening around him. He kind of sat there with a blank facial expression, watching everything unfold. He didn't even notice that he had started to subconsciously sink further and further towards the bench, hoping that he could disappear or melt into the bench. This year was going to prove dangerous.... Very dangerous. And it didn't have anything to do with NEWTS!!!

He bit his lip, casting a glance over to the Slytherin table, hoping that he could spot his brother or Aboli. Hopefully they were fine. He'd have to find them later.... Then his attention was drawn to the Hufflepuff table. Minjae.... He hoped his fellow dude would be okay.

But he couldn't think more on it because a form appeared in front of him. A form that they had to fill out. He looked to his surroundings. First to his left and then to his right as he tried to figure out who was filling it out. Could they get away without filling it out or could he lie?

He glanced at the form in front of him and began slowly filling it out. He'd be as vague as possible and stretching a few truths... Sure the boy hated liars and lying but life or death or uncomfortable torture? He'd tell a fib. That's probably what Aboli would have advised him to do.

sweetpinkpixie 01-05-2021 03:05 AM

When one grew up with a dad who shouted at you in Klingon and threatened to toss you into a black hole when you were misbehaving beyond their threshold of patience, most threats were kind of like water off a duck's back. This was not one of those and Atlas' face instantly dropped and his finger curled back in to his palm, all fingers forming a tight little fist, as a VERY prevalent phrase in the Flamsteed household echoed in his mind: RED SHIRT.

Dad had always told them not to be red shirts, which the man had meant in a deeper meaning but it was one that was lost on the 11-year-old mind. To Atlas, in this moment, it simply meant one thing: DO NOT DIE.

And so the first year was recoiling back, glancing at his brother just when something absolutely horrendous took place.

There, within touching distance of himself, was the boy who had thrown the wadded up piece of paper with a look on his face as though HIS insiders were going through spaghettification...and it didn't take this Gryffindor two long to put two and two together. Unable to look away, despite wanting to do just that, Atlas froze in place seeing the boy's body crumble to the floor...like the wadded piece of paper that had bounced off the man who had performed the Unforgiveable. And then there was another body that fell to the floor around him...and he hadn't seen why. Another Unforgiveable!? Only this time...this time the boy - the older blonde boy with the nice hair who Atlas had come to the conclusion was the headmaster's (the REAL headmaster) - did not get up.

And then Atlas' eyes were not the only thing that leaked. His black trousers stuck to his skin as the urine trickled down his leg, absorbed a bit into his sock and shoes, and a couple of droplets fell on to the floor.

Dead. That boy...he was dead. He hadn't even seen the green light but he was dead. He had tried to attack these people too and instead of administering pain they went for death. Dead and that GIRL had KNOWN it was going to happen. She had SAID that no one had died YET.

SHE KNEW! SHE KNEW THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN!

Trembling and unable to find his voice, Atlas took one of the pieces of paper - or several, his hands were trembling too much and he just took a stack which also sent some of them fanning out on to the floor - and turned dutifully back around and stared at the form. Trousers and underwear moist and smelling of terror, he took a quill and began to fill it out, his penmanship an absolute mess and almost to the point of being illegible.

When he got to the last two questions...Atlas didn't want to answer. Dad LOVED muggle things. Dad even worked as the Astronomer Royal. What if...what if in filling out this form he was condemning his parents to death? Dad had been acting a little off for years now...what if...what if...they already had dad? More leaking ensued and the ink on Atlas' form smeared a bit as some tears dropped to the paper.

...what if...their dad...was already dead? Just like the real Headmaster Trent? What if...dad wasn't their dad?

What if in NOT answering that would get his parents killed? Or Aries...or Andromeda...or himself...

The blurry forget-me-not blue eyes looked around again, lingering on the boy who had been killed right here in the Great Hall and NO ONE was doing anything about. He was...the Cedric Diggory of all this, wasn't he? The first to fall.

Turning back to his parchment and scribbling something in the remaining spaces about having attended muggle schooling prior to Hogwarts until dad had pulled him from it last year, Atlas put his quill down and squirmed uncomfortably on the bench.

Could they please...move the body? Please?

Everything was happening. Everything was happening so much. Kinsay was having complete sensory overload. The only thing that kept her grounded in this moment was Emmerson’s hold and her older sister who had come to wrap her arms around them for protection. Kizzy tried to focus on breathing and not looking around at all the stinkfaces.

Until Adam Luck fell to the floor, at which point Kinsay audibly gasped.

”ADAM!” She didn’t even LIKE the kid and yet her entire body stiffened. Was he okay? Was he—KALE!

Not bearing to see anymore, Kizzy stuffed her whole face into her sister’s robes. Everything was terrible. It was awful. They were… filling out forms?

Kizzy turned once again to face the table, her mind was elsewhere, but seeing Emm and Phoebe fill out the forms meant that she would have to do the same. Already the questions gave her a really, really bad feeling in her tummy and her hand trembled as she filled it out.

Not knowing what 'muggle upliftment meant', she peeked over at Phoebe's form to copy.

If it hadn't been Kale's dad, Morgan might have thought the face-melting thing to be a cool trick. Really grossed-out, sure, but a wicked trick all the same. But as it were, his best mate had burst into tears and he was sympathetic, he really was! He could only imagine if that had been his own dad. He definitely wouldn't have thought anything about it was cool.

And then a whole lot of things were happening at once and Morgan didn't know where to focus. On the overgrown minions surrounding their tables? Who were these guys anyway? They did not look like the friendly sort for sure and he had that righteous indignation by proximity thing when Kale shouted at them about his dad. Morgan opened his mouth to add a very unhelpful yeah! at the end, but.... WOAH these guys were mean!

"HEY!" Morgan yelled in protest at the one guy who shoved his friend down. Not that Morgan was likely going to actually do anything, but that was very uncool! And sure, they were bigger and nastier and maybe even murderers (they did look the part), but surely there were more students than bad guys, right? What were they going to do, take on all of them?

He did not get far in that thought process or lack of thought, because next thing he knew, Kale was slumping on the table next to him. What happened?! "KALE!" Did he faint? Was he...??? Morgan hadn't seen the surreptitious spell coming from another friend and immediately thought the worst... but the booming voice of the Not!Headmaster (new?? headmaster?!?) caught his attention. Yikes. He tried to half pay attention and half whisper to Kale, worried about his friend being dead or something.

"Kale! Kale, wake up!" he whispered harshly as he grabbed the front of his robes, shaking gently. This was awful! And in his panic-stricken mind, he tried to think of the right thing to do. He wasn't really dead, was he?? Wait... he knew that one spell that woke people up, but maybe... maybe it wasn't smart to use that right now. For once in his life, Morgan thought beyond the immediate moment and realized that as worked up as Kale had been, he might actually get himself in some real trouble if he was awake to step in it. Sure, he'd have his back if he was willing to put up a fight... but that would likely not end well. So maybe it was good that he'd fainted. Once dinner was over, he'd help him back to the common room, even sneak some leftovers from dinner back with him.

Slowly, he let go of the front of the other boy's robes and turned his attention to the parchment that materialized in front of him. .....these were dumb questions. And what the heck was muggle upliftment? Leaning over to some of his fellow fifth years, he asked them a general question. "Do you guys know what muggle upliftment is?" He thought he heard someone else question that too.

For the First time in her life Charlie really wanted to blend it. It may have also been the first time she was thankful her annoying younger siblings were at least a year away from showing up at Hogwarts. This was not what they needed for their first year. Her eyes tracked the disgusting, and she meant disgusting men standing around the tables. Maybe they weren’t totally disgusting but they were lurking and trying to take advantage of kids. Of all the places they had to take over why was it Hogwarts.

Her eyes drew towards Kale as he hit the ground “Oh boy” she mumbled. She absolutely did not want to get up and have one of the goon squad restrain her. No thanks. She hoped that maybe he just passed out from the shock and that he’d be okay in the long run. That wasn’t too hopeful was it? She turned to hear Headmaster Rosier speaking up. It wasn’t going to be rainbows and unicorns? Really if taking the castle wasn’t enough indication he had to reiterate that to them. It took everything in her not to huff and roll her eyes at his obvious statement.

Fill out a form with their info? This didn’t sit well. She’s been in far sketchier situations with her parents. They were usually interrupting some locals life and causing a stir. There’s been a few times they had to be told how to say nothing until their parents arrived. But this felt different all together. Her eyes focused on Morgan because what actually was muggle upliftment?

No sooner than she had written the question her paper went flying away like nothing was ever in front of her she made direct eye contact with Morgan and looked up and down the table once more.

"Adam!" Gabrielle couldn't stop the shout from leaving her mouth, turning angrily to the frankly evil people around the Gryffindor table. She hadn't seen who'd cast the spell, didn't even know who Adam had hit with his napkin, but she knew that one of them had caused the yell and the writhing that was coming from the boy. "What have you done to him?!" Her voice was high and incredulous, the question barely asked before she was looking back at Adam, eyes searching for visible injuries. "Are you okay?"

Yes, she was worried, and the fact that Adam was her boyfriends brother definitely played a part in that - would she have reacted the same if it had been some other kid? Honestly, Gabrielle didn't know. But her gasp was strangled when Kale dropped to the floor, eyes searching for whoever had cast the spell (of course, she didn't for a moment think it would be a fellow student, and so she focused on the adults). But she was scared. She'd never admit it, not even to Willa or Leighton, but Gabrielle was royally freaked out.

During the... evil man's speech, the seventh years gaze kept dropping to the boy next to her, worry lines seemingly permanently etched onto her forehead. Was he going to be okay? Was there any permanent damage? And what about the Trent boy?

Casting another look around the table, she focused on Flamsteed - if that was his name. She didn't manage to wonder how the evil guy had known, assuming that they'd just been listening or watching or SOMETHING during the Sorting. Either way, she didn't have the time OR the mental capacity to think about that, not when the kid was crying. "Are you okay?" Gabrielle asked in a loud whisper, eyes full of concern.

When the food and forms arrived, she pushed her plate out of the way - how could ANYONE, really, ANYONE?! eat at a time like this?! Her stomach was knotted, her lip being chewed painfully as she picked up a quill. She could hear the chatters going on around her, and was relieved to know she wasn't the only person who didn't know what Muggle Upliftment meant. Sure, she was older than a lot of these kids, but no one ever said she was smarter.

Forcing a steady hand, she managed to fill out the form, not surprised when it disappeared and her hands were free to start twisting themselves in her lap.

It all happened real fast.

The sorting. Saying hi to her friends and asking them about their summers. The thought of HOGSMEADE WEEKENDS because she was a third year now. Cathal joining her in Hogwarts which is gonna be a blast and no more bag smuggling. The headmaster arriving and apparently melting???

And more sketchy people entering the hall.

First, Cassidy was confused. And then it started to worry her. She didn't know these people. That's not Headmaster Trent either. The lioness quickly looked around the hall for Alex, Benji, and Cathal. She just wanted to make sure they were doing okay. Especially Cathal. This was a DISASTER for a first welcoming feast.

Then one of her housemates was crying because one of those sketchy men sent a spell at him! And another housemate, this time an older one, got Stupefied???? Under normal circumstances, whoever sent that spell at him would have received all the WHOAs from Cassidy. But not tonight.

Especially with those forms? She gave the questions one look over and she sort of froze. Maybe turned a little pale there too. What did they care about blood heritage, or their parents' work? What do they have against the ministry? This didn't look good AT ALL. Cassidy looked around for anyone in her table, looking for someone who wouldn't want to fill in the form because she'd then do the same, but she found no one. It's probably smarter that way, honestly.

Cassie had considered lying, to save her mum. But the little Gryffindor knew what her mum would tell her if she did that. Mum's an adult, also very smart and skilled. She'd know how to take care of herself. Hopefully mum would forgive her for this.

But the moment she filled up the form, it disappeared and she almost felt sick.

What in the Felix felicis was going on?

Everything was going like a normal (though what was normal for Hogwarts?) The sorting, and waiting to eat. Yes even with everything unfolding Christian still had food on his mind. But then the headmaster or at the time he looked like the headmaster comes barreling through the doors not very super hero like to add. He'd been acting... Off yeah? before now. Then the strangers lined up around the table too. The headmaster MELTED right in front them.

From there everything moved fast too fast for the third year to keep up with. People crying and yelling. He was looking around at the same time looking for his friends and family at their tables, just to check in on them. The imposter who was sitting in the headmasters chair was now giving a speech.

None of this sounded good to him. The only ushering he wanted to do was to usher this man and his goonies out of here already. Was there away he could hop back on the train and go home? Nah it was probably too late for that.

Instead he took the parchment and quill and filled this out. Carefully he was completely suspicious of all of this.

One moment there was more first years like himself joining the Gryffindor table, but there was only one first year that Apollo's mind was focused on which was the sorting of Bella Connolly. When he heard the hat shout Slytherin, it took everything in Apollo's power to not run over and drag her to the Gryffindor table. Hadn't her mum been a Gryffindor?? WHAT WAS THIS?!? But before he could ponder too long, there was commotion, and an older girl killed another boy??? Or, maybe not kill but he wasn't moving?? What was this talk about a neo alliance or something??

Was there always this much information given out at the opening feast because all the eleven year old wanted to do was stuff himself with delicious food and go to sleep. Maybe introduce himself to his dormmates. And yet they were being forced to fill out some form that talked about muggle upliftment??? It seemed he wasn't the only one at a loss for what that was though, given the looks of his fellow lions. He did look towards the Slytherin table to see if he could decipher what Bella thought about all this. They needed to find a secret spot stat where they could converse because this two different houses wasn't going to work.

Right, he better fill this out.

Was it good to answer the two questions with a question? Who knew, but he was only eleven years old and surely they didn't expect him to form an opinion on supporting or not supporting anything? It did alarm him though when the parchment disappeared the second he stopped writing. "Wicked." He whispered to no one in particular.
