| | |  DADA Lesson 2 - Muggle 'B Gone
In a rather rare change of schedule, the Defense Against the Dark Arts lesson does not take place at 8 am sharp. Today, with snow covering the grounds and a stiff wind coming along the mountain side, you find yourself walking out to the grounds. It's high noon--or near enough. After lunch, you've been instructed to change into comfortable clothing then meet the Headmaster in the open area between the lake and the wooden bridge.
Step lively, there is a lot to cover.
There are no chairs, there are no seats. There are no signs of comfort or anything that could give away the day's lesson. What IS there is a conjured chalkboard with the words:

As usual, avoid the incessant chatter and let's all try to at least pretend you want to remain alive. I'm done with the boundary testing and would like to think you are, too.

Headmaster Rosier stands with his hands clasped behind his back and an unimpressed look upon his face. He wouldn't hold his breath for the day's lesson, but for their sake they would fall in line.

Claudine had not, at all, enjoyed this activity. For one thing, her head started to hurt the moment that the Muggles in the barn had started shouting. The whole ordeal was stressful and for that reason, she hadn’t been able to focus much. The girl had been quite glad when the boyfriend had started to take over, and even better, when Rosier called them all back. She was careful to keep her facial expression neutral.
Claudine followed Heath back to the gate from the barnyard, not really feeling optimistic about the Muggles’s fates. She grabbed her belongings, looking around at Heath then sneaking a glance at Rosier. They could leave, yes? |

The brain fuzz was still at maximum volume and Kinsay was having a hard time processing anything at all. In fact, she spent the entire walk back to the front gates in a daze. Were they going to kill the other muggles too? The ones at the courtyard? Though these were questions lingering in the very back of her mind, she would surely be thinking about them for the rest of the week. She'd likely feel guilty too, wishing she had done something more to save them.
But right now?
She still wasn't thinking straight. It was hard to be thinking about anything at all, it was like the fuzz in her head was blocking everything out. So instead of trying to process (which would be a futile endeavor), she made way to silently grab her things.

Heath returned from the barn and pastures, taking care not to arrive at the same time as Claudine. That was a disaster! He shook his head, trying to block out the memory of the muggles trapped in the barn screaming, but he could still hear their voices in the back of his mind. Was he wrong to lie to them like that? Those who still thought this was a reality show were in for a rude awakening when Rosier's goons found them… or maybe that wasn't such a bad thing. If they thought this was all fake, at least they wouldn't die frightened.
Heath didn't like the idea of the muggles dying at all, but he knew deep down that was the most likely outcome. Setting his jaw into a stoic expression, he picked up his bag, though he refused to look at anyone lest his eyes betray his emotions. Were they allowed to leave yet?

With a look of someone who had just lost their soul, Ingrid returned to the classroom from the courtyard, ready to grab her things and leave as soon as possible. She wasn’t sure if the body of the muggle had been removed or vanished but she didn’t go looking for it or for the headmaster. No, her eyes were down on the floor.
Doing her best not to remember what was most likely going to happen to the muggles who were left, she walked straight over to where she’d left her backpack and picked it up just enough so that it didn’t drag across the floor and drifted towards the door, only to look back to see if she could actually leave. | |

To say that she was reluctant to walk away from the Muggles at the creature sanctuary would be an understatement.
Ivy didn't want to leave them there. She didn't want to think about what might happen to them. And she didn't want to see the fallen Muggle again.
But there he was. And here she was, worried and stressed and very much not wanting to let go of Kale's hand still. Holding onto him was as much for her comfort as his at this point. But release him she did, since she couldn't gather her things with only one hand free. She quickly stuffed her things into her bag.

Violet was still steaming from Valencia's retort. Children, indeed--what was she, two years older then Violet?!? And the nerve of that girl, accusing everyone of using hexes, except her, of course. Violet herself had only used the Muggle repelling charm, and if that know-it-all Ravenclaw had been willing to work together with the rest of them instead of taking it upon herself to be the spell police, they might have kept the Muggles out of the castle.
Not that that would have done any good, of course. Violet knew in her heart that she was just holding onto her grudge to distract herself from the knowledge of how Rosier's people were probably "taking care of the Muggles," and it made her chilled to the bone. But she had no idea of what she, one fifteen-year old student, could do about it--the Muggles were hopelessly loose in the castle, Rosier's men were all about the place, and even if she could find the Muggles and try to get them to leave, she knew of no way to get them safely off the Hogwarts grounds. She couldn't even get herself out of the castle at this point. So she sadly (and with some guilt) returned to collect her things and go back to her dorm.
