In a rather rare change of schedule, the Defense Against the Dark Arts lesson does not take place at 8 am sharp. Today, with snow covering the grounds and a stiff wind coming along the mountain side, you find yourself walking out to the grounds. It's high noon--or near enough. After lunch, you've been instructed to change into comfortable clothing then meet the Headmaster in the open area between the lake and the wooden bridge.
Step lively, there is a lot to cover.
There are no chairs, there are no seats. There are no signs of comfort or anything that could give away the day's lesson. What IS there is a conjured chalkboard with the words:
Quote:
As usual, avoid the incessant chatter and let's all try to at least pretend you want to remain alive. I'm done with the boundary testing and would like to think you are, too.
That goes double for:
Kinsay James
Phoebe James
Bernadette Grantham Ashley Fox
Eden Tilly
Headmaster Rosier stands with his hands clasped behind his back and an unimpressed look upon his face. He wouldn't hold his breath for the day's lesson, but for their sake they would fall in line.
OOC: Welcome to the first DADA lesson!! Don't forget to read the classroom rules before posting. I'll have the first question up in 24-28 hours

Table #4
Otter This World ♡ Catpurrccino ♡ Slotherin ♡ Pandamonium
Dahlia was lost in her own little world again. This time it consisted of only herself, the rat in her hands and the box maze on the table before her. All she had to do was keep the rat alive. Alive and away from the block of cheese she had already placed down in the maze.
A couple of ideas were already forming in her head when she realized she was no longer alone at the table. She smiled softly and nodded her head at the slightly older girl (Ingrid) who she knew was in her own house. "Sure, you can work with us." Us being both the rat and her. It was only after she had nodded at the rat in her own arms that she noticed the other girl was also holding a rat. Did they need two? She didn't think so but she wasn't going to worry about that.
The full body-bond curse? That would surely keep the rat from getting to the cheese but.. weren't they meant to let the rat roam around the maze? It wouldn't be able to do that if it couldn't move. "I'm st-" she had begun when they were joined by another older girl from their own house (Ivy) and quickly one more old girl (Claudine) from Slytherin. "I don't mind. The more the merrier."
"Not yet. We were only starting to discuss what might work." And she hadn't gotten very far at all. There was quick talk about the full body-bind once again and stunning the rat. Neither option was very appealing to her. Nonetheless, Lia watched Ingrid try to cast the body-bind spell on the rat she had been holding. When it didn't work, she couldn't help but let out a small breath of relief.
"Can't we just confuse him?" she asked quietly, lightly running her finger over the top of the rats head that was still cradled in her arms. "Or maybe we can change the cheese to something else he wouldn't want to eat... or uhhh... alter the smell of it?" Any of those ideas could work, right?

Well, it looked like she was going to be the one casting the spell. "I guess it wouldn't hurt to try, if there's something else stopping it from getting the cheese." She shifted. Why was she so nervous? It was all going to be fine. Nem(who she trusted just a little despite herself) had said so. They said so, and they were good at magic, and not super mean. It was all going to be fine. Pus Violet and Kale would be here, and they would help too. And now the rat was loose, so she had to act a little quicker than she would've liked. "Animalis Fidelis." She suddenly got more nervous. What if she did it wrong? How did she know it was right? She put her hand by the rat. After a little hesitation, it followed her. "I think it worked. But it's not strong. We'll have to be careful." What was the logic in making the most inexperienced of them cast the charm? There were four of them, and she was the youngest. Why her? But apparently, that was what was happening, and she was just going to go along with it. She drew the rat in the exact opposite direction of the cheese. It followed, slowly but surely. And hesitantly. She'd have to be very careful. Otherwise, the rat would run for the cheese the second the charm wore off. "This way. Come over here."
Irithel thought Minjae's idea to alter the maze was good too. Except she had no idea how to execute it - it probably required some advanced charm work, while her abilities were pretty much limited to Vera Verto. Mamie had a reasonable counter-argument, and the Ravenclaw nodded along silently. If she were a hungry rat who just got un-stunned and er, un-roped (wow, Aboli), she would probably climb over walls to get to the delicious-looking cheese. Finally, what Aboli said about Headmaster Rosier's intent with this exercise made her heart sink. Right. If their entire plan was to transfigure the rat into a goblet - no harm inflicted on the poor creature at all - they would achieve the goal, but he would be terribly disappointed in them. The last thing they wanted was to disappoint a madman like him.
"You said earlier that one must 'rule by fear', and he liked your answer," she said, looking steadily at the Slytherin. "What if we give the rat a small shock every time it steps closer to the cheese? Make them ... fear the consequence of approaching the cheese."

He scrunched up his nose watching some students go ahead with the touching and just.. gag... ew. He should have stayed in bed today feigning sickness.
Actually. It was perfect that some students already claimed a rat and things. He quickly followed the red-haired girl (Louise, he mildly knew her from other classes), mainly because the table didn't have any kids yet who might screech or let the filthy rodent loose in the room. Although, the rat right now was just sitting in the maze, and Ilya was having an internal mental crisis at the sight. "UHM. Do you think we should just... tie it to the floor?" He was not concerned by the task at hand right now, just, not having it JUMP out of the maze and escape. "It looks malicious." He added.
Although Fiona's idea was much more fun... but the execution? What if the rat got so scared he ran away???? Ilya had conflicting opinions.
Louise looked at Fiona - why was she whispering? Was she scared that Rosier would hear her? "He didn't specify anything," she responded in a normal level of voice. "I don't think it matters which one we charm as long as the rat doesn't get to the cheese." That was the point, wasn't it?
The redhead looked up at their new group member and almost rolled his eyes. "Oh please, it's not going to eat you. He's harmless." Louise even reached into the maze to give the little rat a few pets on his back. See? Harmless. "I suppose we should take a vote, then. I vote for charming the cheese and Fiona votes for charming the rat. That leaves you, Ilya, as the tie-breaker. What will it be?" That seemed like the best way to decide how to move forward.

Ilya almost barfed. Was this girl seriously just PETTING a rat? Ekh. He dramatically placed his hand on his mouth, showing her he was not impressed. Or confinced. "I'd sterilize that hand if I were you." He provided with his eyes falling on the rat again. Just making sure it was in its spot still.
A tie breaker? "Charm the rodent." He answered within a heartbeat. Charming the cheese was fine, but charming the rat was much more satisfying and reassuring. They did not have to risk the rat's disgsting nature for it not to escape or jump or whatever. In fact, he wanted to kill it or return it back to the cage. That was the logical thing to do for the disease-carrying creatures but FINE, he was going to abide by the rules. "I'd help but, you know, I've already broken the tie." He smirked, intending to take this class nice and easy. The girls seemed to be on it.
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.

She was not surprised that Minjae didn't like her idea. Because he had a better idea. Well, maybe better. No idea was perfect. Plus...did turning a rat into a water goblet really hurt it? She thought it would be an improvement. Water goblets didn't need to eat. Couldn't be destroyed by a killing curse. Couldn't feel the pain of a cruciatus curse.
Really, being a water goblet sounded pretty nice to her.
"What if it climbs over the top of the maze or just knocks over the little walls and still gets the cheese, Minjae?" Mamie asked quietly. She wasn't trying to poke holes in his plan, okay, she was, she just wanted them to think it through first. "Can we transfigure the cheese instead?"
Would the rat try to eat a rock?

She pointed her wand at the rat, toying with the idea of outright stunning it. It had already begun to travel across the maze...but....he wanted them to play with the rat, didn't he? To actively impose their will on this rat. Her brain began to go down some dark places, and she shook her head at the ideas of her classmates. "We need to do something to the rat. That's what he most likely wants. Incarcerous!" she suddenly said, the ropes spitting out from the end of her wand to entrap the rat in their grip. "There. We have time to discuss. Or continue this. My ropes won't break any time soon," she said as she glanced at her group.
Mamie might judge her. Minjae, too. She didn't know Irithel too well, so she didn't care if he had an opinion of her or not. "I like the transfiguration idea, but...I just don't know if that's what he's looking for." She nodded her head at the headmaster.

"Riiight...." he said slowly to Mamie's response to his idea. He had truthfully not thought about that the rat might escape from the top of the box. He scratched the back his head his as he stared blankly at the rat before his expression changed and he send Aboli a disapproving look when she began tying the rat up to prevent it from escaping. He really did not like this activity. It made him feel like their current situation but instead of the rat in the boxed maze THEY were the rats and the Alliance were the ones pulling the strings.
As Irithel spoke and suggested giving the rat shocks , she too got a disapproving look from the Hufflepuff. "I don't really want to hurt ---. i mean i don't like..." he took a deep breath to calm himself down "What about using the befriending charm instead?" He asked looking at the group with an hopeful expression on his face. "Malin Calin? It...works on small animals and..." he seriously did not know where he was going with this but ANYTHING than having to harm the poor creature. He wanted to pick all the rats up and run away. Could he do that?! Sure they worked with animals in other classes such as Transfiguration but this was just ...sick. There was no use to this other than toying with living innocent creatures. He didn't know which was worse. Making sure the rat did not eat the cheese or let the rat eat the cheese which was probably poisoned. "He said to use 'any means ' right? That doesn't mean we have to go dark mode , right?" right ???

Heath was prepared to be berated or hexed for his answer, as he always was when he had to speak in Rosier’s class, but he was relieved when that didn’t happen. His answer hadn't been exactly what Rosier was looking for, but at least it was good enough to keep him out of trouble. He listened carefully to the directions for the activity. This time last term, he would’ve been shocked and appalled at the implication that the cheese was laced with poison that could kill the rat, but now he didn’t even bat an eye… and that’s what scared him. Was he so used to Rosier’s cruel ways that nothing surprised him anymore, or had he really stopped caring?
Never mind, he had more important things to worry about now. He got up, his dark eyes scanning the room for a group to join, and his heart sank. It looked like most of the groups already had four people, and he really didn’t want to start a new group at this risk of no one joining, nor did he want to be the fifth person in a group. Either of those options had the potential to get him into trouble with Rosier. He looked again, just in case he’d miscounted, and he saw only three people (Lousie, Fiona, & Ilya) at Table 2. He quickly beelined for that group, just in time to catch the tail end of their conversation. “May I join?” he asked. Please say yes! He didn’t want to end up groupless. “I can charm the rat if you like. Which spell should we use?”

Already the wheels in the Slytherin’s head were turning, hoping to keep the rat away from death the cheese. She wouldn’t put it past Rosier actually lacing the cheese with something that would cause harm. Claudine kept seeing her own pet rat in this contraption. Gosh. She was grateful that it wasn’t Samm.
Anyway. Having joined the table a little late, Claudine missed Ingrid’s suggestion. “Any ideas?’’ And did she have one of her own? Yes. “We can Stun him,’’ came her suggestion, fidgeting with her robe. See, she was still somewhat anxious about the possibility of the Imperious Curse being used on them.

Short of that, I’ll eat the cheese myself because I’m not going to hurt these rats.”, her eyes fierce as she spoke her plan into action.
Pulling out her wand, she quickly dropped her rat and aimed her wand it quickly and moved her wand in the hook like movement required.
“Petrificus Totalus”
Hopefully the rat would just let the curse wash over it and everything would be fine. No vomiting cheese or death cheese or whatever the stupid cheese was. Nope. Just a flash of white light and nothing else.

Ivy offered Claudine a smile when the older girl joined their group. She liked the Slytherin, so she didn't mind adding her to the group. The Not!Headmaster had said a maximum of four, so they were good. This seemed like a good activity to have as many in a group as possible.
So as for the plan...Stunning the rat wasn't a bad idea. Petrificus Totalus could be useful too. Ivy watched Ingrid attempt the spell on her rat - wait, she had a rat...and so did Dahlia. Were they each supposed to have one, or...? Oh well, it was probably fine. Aside from the fact that they were responsible for two rats now instead of just one.
Had the spell worked? Well, it was always worth another shot.
"I think all of that sounds good. Stunning, petrifying, and confusing... Maybe we could try them all to make it extra hard for him to find the cheese." It seemed like a good idea to her to do whatever they could to keep them safe. As for the cheese... "And maybe we could try Glacius on the cheese itself? So if the rat does somehow get to it, he'll have to get through a layer of ice first, and we'll have time to stop him."

Mamie liked the ropes on the rat. It seemed to work well, and she wasn't...why did they need to discuss it more? Probably a smart person thing, like overthinking the problem. But then Irithel was suggesting giving the rat shocks to deter it from the cheese, which diiiid sound like something Rosier would want them to try. Which Minjae didn't like?? Did he not understand they needed to get on the man's good side if they didn't want to be murdered just for being Muggleborns?
"I think the shocking it approach is the right way for this class," she said sadly. "If this was a long term thing...but he...he said logic and kindness took too long and didn't always work. Fear is bad, but..." She didn't want to be the rat in this situation, and maybe torturing the rats would get them out of the rats' situation. And rats were gross. Don't tell Williamson.
She tried to think if there was a way they could reward the rat, too, but...she didn't think rats particularly cared for anything other than cheese. And the cheese was poisoned.

Bernie was kinda staring down at the rat and the box and the maze, trying to think of what to do with it, her fingers wrapped around the edge of the box and tapping away. Look at her, practicing her LiStEniNg sKiLLs. She took in the others' ideas (yeah, hi Eden, alright alright) but kept thinking of something her dad was fond of saying... or rather, a saying he liked ruining, because her dad always said she was the first mouse and not the second one.
"You guys ever hear about two mice that fell in a bucket of cream?" She asked them quietly, digging out her wand and pointing it at the box. "One sank in the cream, gave up, and drowned. The other one started flailing and fighting against the cream so he churned it to butter and was able to climb out." She swallowed the lump in her throat. "I don't know how to conjure cream yet but..."
But she was saying survival was totally possible even in the most impossible situations.
She nodded to the firsties. "One of you can cast aguamenti in here in the box to flood it, right? It'll make it harder for the rat to get to the cheese. But rats can swim, I think," ask her how she knew that, go on, dare ya, "so this is not impossible for the rat. We can ALSO levitate the cheese to make life difficult but..." again, not impossible, because Bernie was feeling like the rat was representative of kids like her and cheese was all the privileges of the magical world. It was within her grasp, but not at the same time. Impossible, but not.
Oh, and for Bernie's contribution? "I'll take away its sight. AND we'll keep an eye on it to see if it needs... stunning." Because one of the other kids had suggested this, yeah? She flicked her wand, muttering, "Obscuro," so a small, tiny blindfold wrapped itself around the rat's head. Yes, she was being bossy, but. She was a leader. They were babies. They HAD to impress Rosier.

If sisterly affection is a bad thing in Rosier's world, then everything was so much worse than Kinsay had known. At least she could still stand next to her favorite people. Standing next to wasn't the same as hugging, but it was something at least. She'd take what she could get.
"More?" Kinsay whispered back with big worry in her eyes. He wasn't going to make them hurt the rat, was he? Because Kinsay couldn't do it. She wouldn't.
Something else Kinsay could not do? The spell. Probably. "Um. Okay." But she couldn't say no to Fifi. She eyed their table for a moment before reaching for her wand. Here goes... everything. She concentrated SO hard and tried to really envision the big bubble. "Ebublio!"

When Louise petted the rodent, Fiona slightly scrunched her nose in disgust. Why touch that...thing? At Ilya's reaction and advice to Louise regarding hand sterilization, the Snakette replied with, "I agree with Ilya."
Soon, she saw Heath at their table, asking if he could join. "I'm fine with you joining us. Louise? Ilya?" She got back to thinking about what spell to use and offered her suggestion. "I was thinking either 'Petrificus Totalus' or 'Incarcerous' to make sure the rat stays put." Little did her fellow students know that she was thinking of the Transmogrification Torture as a possible suggestion. Maybe the Headmaster knew what this student was thinking.

"More?" Kinsay whispered back with big worry in her eyes. He wasn't going to make them hurt the rat, was he? Because Kinsay couldn't do it. She wouldn't.

Eyeing the now completely bubbled in maze, Cece offered the younger girl a small smile. ”It’s alright, just need to focus more on the cheese, okay?” Like, specifically. She had this. ”Finite.” There, now she could give it another go. In the meantime, Cece eyed the rat apologetically. ”Ebublio.” Little bubble baby.

Dahlia was more than content to continue petting the rat she was cradling in her arms. He was safe right where he was and at least she knew he had no chance of being harmed. Unless they were going to send him into the maze too? She wasn't sure about that just yet.
Using Glacius was something she hadn't thought of. "I like that idea. That way when he does get to the cheese it's frozen and we can take it from him and move it to a different place in the maze. Maybe we can change the maze around too?" Was there a spell to move the walls and things to new places in the maze? Lia wouldn't be surprised if there was. "If he's also confused it should make it even harder."
Lia looked at the other girls in the group to see what they all thought. "Can someone cast Glacius.. I haven't managed that one yet."

And the cheese was poisoned.
......
Aboli eyed the young Irithel curiously. What a morbid suggestion. "There might be a happy medium between completely ruthless - " she gestured at Irithel, "And .... not," she looked back at Minjae. "And word of advice...sometimes you gotta' hurt someone to keep them alive. Like this guy here. We might have to not be so nice but it's ONLY because we don't want him to eat the cheese and...croak," she sighed a little. Another sad reminder of a decision she had made in her head already. She glanced at Mamie. "Don't say that," she said softly. "You don't think like that, Mamie. You're too young. You should still be thinking...happy things." It made her sad to hear the Hufflepuff agree with the SHOCK method. Pavlov's dogs, though.....
The rat was still all wrapped up in her ropes. Luckily so. She undid the spell and watched the rat suddenly lurch forward, trying to find his way through the maze. "Maybe we'll work better under pressure. Or....we just transfigure the cheese." Back to the old idea. "I can do that easily if need be."

Valencia... hovered both a rat and the cheese over to an empty table. She assumed the rats were strays, and, not knowing the health levels or what diseases they might carry, she didn't want to physically touch it.
Or the poisoned cheese for that matter.
She carefully lowered them both into their spots and stared for awhile at the rat. Her mind was on the Imperious Curse. It was an unforgivable... on a person. She could get away with doing a little bit of practice now, couldn't she? Everything she read about it made it seem perfectly safe in terms of not really hurting the object of the spell. As long as she made sure no harm came onto the object, that is.
She looked around, debating the ethics. It was better to see the effects of such a spell in person, wasn't it? Especially when the school was invaded by people who wouldn't hesitate to use one...
Plus, the Headmaster did say any means...
She chewed her lip as he mind raced and she watched the rat get closer...
She instead cast a silent Confundo at the rat. Maybe that would be enough to keep it at bay while she decided where she stood on the... other question.

"Yeah, that's it." Nifty little charm, actually. They never left home without it. Fox seemed to be thinking, so Nem didn't disturb her, just set the rat on the table and gently held it in place while they waited for her to continue. "I do know it, but it's alright to have a go, if you're up for it. I promise I won't let the rat touch the cheese."
They looked up from Fox, noted Blackthorne and Vegetable, and gave a small smile to them both. "Hey." Joining? Yeah? Yeah. "Here's what I'm thinking. Animalis Fidelis. One of us, maybe Ashley, casts it on the rat, and guides it around the maze - if the spell works, it'll follow their fingers-" Nem did the pay me gesture, which sometimes worked for beckoning cats and things like that. They never paid up though. "-and go where it's told. If that person applies the spell every two minutes, that should be enough, and the rat will bond with them more as time goes on, and trust to follow where they're telling it in spite of the smell of the cheese."
It was boring in its simplicity, but fitting for group work. "If the charm isn't working, or wears off at the wrong time, and the rat strays near the cheese, someone else gives it a little zap. Nothing awful, just a shock or sting, and it'll back off, and Rosier should be satisfied too. A little pain isn't so bad if it means keeping the rat alive."
It was all for the greater good, one might say.
Anyway.
"Carrot and stick. I'm totally open to other ideas, but we should get started or he won't be pleased." The Big Man, obviously. Nem released the rat into the maze, giving the others an opportunity to try... anything, really. That Flagrante Curse would hold, and they were not even entertaining the idea of failure.

TBH Kale Trent did not love this plan. He didn't like any plan that left it open to hurt the rat. It had already been taken under duress by Rosier to participate in this lesson. But he didn't really have a better plan. Other than pulling the rat from the maze so it didn't accidentally eat cheese and get killed.
Seriously. Like. What was this term?
He watched with bated breath as the youngest among them cast the spell. "You're doing great," Kale encouraged Ashley. "Isn't she?" He asked the others as he watched the rat. It was working, but he could see how weak the bond was now. It was wavering. CONFIDENCE BUD! CONFIDENNNNNNNNNNNCE.
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Full Body Bind Curse was a good way to go. There were a few spells that could indeed work. Claudine supposed they could use the process of elimination to see which worked best but… wouldn’t that take a toll on the poor rat? “Dahlia, I like the way you think. You too, Ivy.’’ Alright, she could do the Glacius charm.
Claudine pointed her dragon heartstring wand at the block of cheese. “Glacius.’’ It was a complicated bit of wand movement but blue light shot from the wand and at the target. The cold air soon had the cheese frozen. “You know… the freezing might even block out the smell, making it easier for him to sniff it out.’’

Moving onto charming the rat then, since that's what Ilya voted for. But Fiona wanted to petrify it? Or bind it in ropes? "Well, that seems a bit like cheating, just making it so it can't even move. I was thinking we could just make the mouse blind - or snuff out his smelling sense or something."
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
Sometimes you gotta hurt someone to keep them alive?
”I’m sorry but i disagree…” he said in a whisper. He truly did not like that she had said that. Torture was never the answer. He didn’t care what anyone else thought. Not even Rosier. There were more ways to keep the rat away from the cheese and he understood what Mamie had said that they probably needed to do what would please the Headmaster the most but …. he was seriously conflicted right now.
He was not rebelling though, in case anyone thought that. He simply wanted to find other options to this problem that didn’t involve shock torture. He watched as Aboli undid her spell and his eyes followed the rat as it began walking through the maze. Maybe she was right though, maybe working under pressure was a better way than standing there and coming up with ideas.

This was.....awful. Avalon tried not to let her horror at the situation show as she stared at her and Valencia's test subject. It seemed incredibly unethical to be confusing the rat like this. Not to mention the uneasy feeling in the pit of her stomach that this would be minor compared to what Rosier would want them to do next. That is, if this lesson was anything like the seminar at the beginning of the term.
Avalon watched as the rat scurried around, obviously confused by Valencia's Confundus charm. "Good call," she whispered to her housemate, not wanting Rosier to overhear them. At least the spell wouldn't cause any long-term damage.
Once the rat edged a little closer to the cheese, Avalon had to think quick. She cast a nonverbal Immobulus (better time than any to practice her nonverbals, she supposed) to stop the rat in its tracks. She'd certainly need to come up with some more creative spells if she didn't want Rosier to yell at her, but for now, the freezing charm was the only thing she could think of.

What did the others think about that?
Heath was relieved that Fiona and Louise were okay with him joining their group. Was Ilya okay with that too? He didn’t know, so he was just going to assume so until he heard otherwise. “Thanks,” he said, nodding respectfully to each person in turn. For the record, he wasn’t the least bit bothered by the rat. In fact, it was kind of cute. It reminded him a bit of another rat he knew. He almost smiled as he watched it in the maze. Don’t worry, rat. I won’t let you die in there, he thought.
Before he could get too distracted by the rat, the others were throwing out spell options. He blinked, taking a moment to process everything. He knew rats liked to chew things, so if they used Incarcerous, it might find a way to chew through the ropes. Sensory deprivation was an option, but if they made it blind, wouldn’t it just follow the smell of the cheese instead? Personally he liked the idea of Petrificus Totalus. “I don’t think Petrificus Totalus is cheating. He said we could use any means we come up with,” he said, “but if you prefer the sensory deprivation route, I think taking out its sense of smell would work better than blinding it.” Did anyone know what the spell was for that?

Alright, he'd seen about as much as he cared to. There was still a whole main event to get to and another bit of recap he needed to ensure they got through before they could move on. Rats were one thing, but he needed to get them to start thinking a little closer to home.
"Gather 'round. We're moving on. If your rat ate the cheese, you owe me an essay on what made your plan such an utter failure." A little exercise in taking responsibility for their actions wouldn't hurt. "If you barely got anywhere in the exercise, you owe me an essay on why you're such a slow worker and how your limited progress could affect the greater good." Namely, an essay on how useless they would be should anyone be depending on them.
"I want it by dinner. 25 inches of parchment. Big writing and I'll have you rewrite it a hundred times."
Clear? Clear.
Anyway.
"As many of you may have realized, sometimes the only way to get things done is by force, with magic or both. How do you get muggles to stay away from something or somewhere urgently?" So, NO, they would NOT be asking nicely or trying to reason with them.

Kinsay's face dropped when the Headmaster called an end to the activity. "Do you think we have to write an essay?" She whispered, looking back and forth between the older girls. If they did, it'd be all Kinsays fault. She felt all the guilt.
Returning her attention back to the Headmaster, Kizzy walked over to join the group hesitantly. Even though Headmaster Rosier didn't seem to appreciate her answer the first time, asking nicely could ALSO work in urgent situations. She wasn't going to say that though because she didn't want to be asked about being dropped on her head.
So she paused thoughtfully, before raising her hand. "You could put up a really big sign that says 'Danger Ahead!'" Kinsay would keep away from a sign like that. Most people liked to stay away from dangerous things.
