Charms Lesson 2- Immobulus

Another morning meant another Charms class, the soft and familiar sound of classical music greeting students upon their arrival. The desks are still arranged in a large horseshoe fashion, though these days those living in The Room are expected to sit to the left side of the room, those still residing in their dorms, the right. It was a small act to try and placate Rosier's besties, but it was something.

Professor Peralta is standing by the door, doing her best to hide her nerves. The tension in the castle these days was palpable and the hoods more vicious than ever, which meant the pressure to keep calm and keep the kids out of trouble was strong. So do Professor P a favor and be on your best behavior, okay? Charms class will be starting shortly.

OOC: Hello friends! Please remember that if you play one of the students living in The Room, you're being escorted to and from lessons! Also, please familiarize yourself with the Charms Rules and SSRPG Rules before posting! Thank you! Class has ENDED!

It was nothing new because Claudine had quickly become used to her new life as a prisoner. Did it quell her anger? Definitely not. But at the moment, she was helpless due to the fact that she was certain the group confined to The Room would be tortured if they tried anything further.

“Hello, Professor,’’ Claudine said softly. As usual, she continued to ignore The Hoods escorting the group. She was good at that, by the way. Ignoring anyone she wanted to was a strength. Anyway, the girl made her way to the left side of the room, selecting a seat at the back.

It looked like she and the others would have to wait a little longer to find out what today’s lesson was about for there was not a single hint.

PatInTheHat 02-27-2021 01:56 AM

Tavie was almost tempted to stay in her dorm today. Almost. It just so happened that charms was one of her favorite classes, and especially with everything going on she wanted to keep doing the things she enjoyed most. It was the only thing that kept her going.

Like usual, she offered the professor the smallest of smiles when she walked through the door. "Good morning professor." Unlike usual, the smile did not reach her eyes. It took the sixteen year old a moment to process the new seating arrangements, not allowing herself to feel anything as she begrudgingly sat in one of the seats on the right side of the classroom.

This was fine.

Watson 02-27-2021 02:17 AM

Right. Left side of the room. Thats where he had to sit. All he had to do was walk in- find a place to sit and get to “listening” in class. For the most part, he’d be listening to the lecture... the minor part... Well. He’d be keeping an eye out for Aboli and a few of his friends.

This would prove easier said than done because the boy was feeling very, very tired today. Emotionally and physically drained would have been better descriptions for how he was feeling. Yes. Yes. That was it. He’d do anything right now for a cup of espresso. How he wished to be back at home...

In the meantime, he’d have to settle for looking alert while he was being escorted by the glorified thugs in hoods.... Eh. He’d really have to come up with a shorter nickname..... His shoulders relaxed and he felt a sudden urge to open his mouth and yawww....

Nope! He stopped himself. Look sharp!

Hello Professor!” he greeted with a nod before headed to his side of the classroom which was not the right side to be on. It was the left with Claudine.

Waddles 02-27-2021 02:20 AM

Mamie was not even excited for Charms today. Having to be escorted everywhere had gotten really old, really fast. How come the dragons got to be free but not them? Rosier clearly valued drragons more than Muggleborn children. The question was...why??? Children could be tamed. Williamson had told them dragons could not be.

She followed the others into the room and slumped into a seat by herself on the left side of the horseshoe.

At least she currently had her wand for class, if she was going to try to look on the bright side of things. And at least they still got to learn charms, even if they didn't get to learn flying. She did not greet the professor. It was hard enough to be positive for herself, let alone anybody else.

Ginevra 02-27-2021 04:23 AM

Fiona did miss having her close friend, Claudine with her but what good was moping going to do? Upon entering the classroom, the Snakette gave a small polite smile Professor Peralta's way and said, "Good morning, Professor," before heading to a seat on the right side of the room and got herself ready for the lesson.

Felixir 02-27-2021 05:58 AM

Entering the classroom and moving immediately to the desks on the right hand side, Nem offered no acknowledgement to Peralta, nor indeed to anyone else. Nothing too dissimilar from their attitude in the rest of their classes since the field trip.

In one hand they held a book on elemental magic, with a finger stuck in amongst the pages marking their place, and once they'd taken their seat, they resumed their silent. It was something, at least, to fill the minutes before the lesson started. Something they could ostensibly focus their attention on, and not just sit and wait and do even more nothing, even if most of this was information was more of the same as what they'd already read elsewhere, and even if none of it was remotely thrilling.

Perfect parallel, really.

MadMadamMalfoy 02-27-2021 09:50 AM

Another day, another lesson with another adult who didn't care enough to fight for the students. Heath had lost his enthusiasm for lessons. What was the point anymore? It wasn't as if he'd ever have the chance to put his skills to use in the outside world. Lessons were now nothing more than a bad reminder of all the people who'd let him down this term.

Heath was already angry as he walked to charms class alongside the other imprisoned students and the hoods, but entering the room made his anger increase tenfold. There was that infernal classical music that reminded him so much of his muggle father (who was indirectly responsible for his suffering) and how all anyone seemed to see in him was a carbon copy of his dad. But what really set him off was the seating arrangement! Don't worry, he thought bitterly. I'm not about to taint the precious pureblood pets with my disgusting halfblood presence...

He glanced at the professor with eyes every bit as dark, cold, and lifeless as the room he was confined to… not long enough to be considered defiant, just long enough to give her a glimpse of his pain. He nodded in greeting, knowing his anger would creep into his voice if he tried to speak, before taking a seat next to Claudine on the left side of the room with the rest of Rosier's rejects.

sweetpinkpixie 02-27-2021 10:54 AM

Charms was one of the few classes that his wand seemed to function with any sense of proficiency. Which was a little ironic in some ways considering Atlas had very little confidence in casting. His confidence and focus with the subject had been shattered pretty hard early on in the term (looking at you, Kinsay James). While water under the bridge, so to speak, he nonetheless still felt a different kind of anxiousness every single Charms lesson.

And the seating arrangements did not help.

To afraid to ask why he and Aries were not among the other halfbloods, Atlas had been tempted to lie to people and say that he was pureblood. It was a guilt he felt settling in his stomach, guilt for some sort of pseudo special treatment. He figured it had to do with dad, there was no other explanation. And that...in it's own way...was maybe a good thing. It meant dad was still alive, right?

Head hanging and feet shuffling, Atlas moved silently to sit on the right side of the room, hugging his bag to his chest, beside an older Ravenclaw girl. He could see Nemesis Upstead out of the corner of his eye and, of course, his ears turned a tiiiiiiiiiiny bit pink.

Uncle Moose 02-27-2021 01:16 PM

William sulked/but not truly sulked to much as he was lead to the classroom from The Room by the Hoods If he truly had a choice it would a full on foot dragging to the Charms lesson for today but he didn't want to come across as defiant. This Slytherin listened to his captors. YESSIR! He'll do whatever they want of him now.

The originally strictly muggleborn's only side had grown larger due to the Field Trip Fiasco. Now it was filled with everyone who was sharing The Room with him. Will, took a seat somewhere at the farthest point on the Left side of the Horseshoe shaped seating arrangement. Slumping into his seat....

Oh and yeah! No Hello to the Professor. He's been giving no nod or acknowledgement to them unless they tell him to do so shortly after.

astrocat 02-27-2021 01:29 PM

Ash sat on the left. Which, coincidentally, was her favorite side. Yayyyyy. Take that, hoodie squad. Reserved seating. She sat down next to Claudine, not bothering to greet the professor. She wasn't going to say "professor" in her greeting, so it was less rude to say nothing. SHe pulled out a green marker and traced ribbons around her arm. Like a markered-on green silk ribbon.

DuckyLinJi 02-27-2021 03:31 PM

Being escorted by Rosier's fan club had gotten under his skin and his mind had been racing with any possibilities to get out of that Room with every walk they were allowed out of The Room. But the only way he could think of to get out without being killed was to accept the madman's vision and as broken as he felt at the moment, there was still a tiny spark in him that refused. But by staying quiet and cooperating with the Alliance in order to survive, didn't that mean that they indirectly and involuntarily chose their side?

Lucien Rosier and Co. were nothing more than a bunch of cowards who deserved to get eaten by dragons . No , actually, the true cowards were the rest of the staff. The more time past, the more Minjae started to resent them for not even trying to help. And he showed it by passing the professor at the door without a word and silently walked over to the left side of the room. He took a seat and took out his wand, twirling it around between his fingers and feeling a bit better that he had it in his hand again. It was short lived though as his feelings declined thinking about how he had to hand his wand back the moment he was thrown in The Room again.

Kolyander 02-27-2021 03:35 PM

There was nothing quite like being escorted everywhere by the Hoodie Minions. It was something Lia was quickly getting used to though and while she absolutely loathed every single moment, she kept quiet. Whatever she was feeling, thinking, was kept to herself and a very small select few.

"Hello, Professor," Dahlia greeted softly upon entering the Charms room. She tried to smile softly but if it was actually a smile she wasn't entirely sure. Without much thought she slipped down onto an empty seat on the left side of the room. She wasn't going to complain about where she sat, that didn't seem all that important.

Just another day another lesson of being escorted by the hooded minions. He was used to it by now, he just chosen to ignore them and go about his day. Not like there was anything he could do about it, this was his life now. Tadhg had alot of emotions and feelings that he shared with Lia and anyone who would listen.

"Hello Professor." He greeted in a dull tone like a dementor sucked the life out of him and left him like this. Sure felt like it, he was broken down and didn't have a spark of happiness in him, only thing that kept him sane was that Lia his bestfriend was with him in the room. Seeing Lia already there he sat down beside her. "Hey." That was all he said sighing to himself.

Fireheart 02-27-2021 04:11 PM

At first, Avalon had been angry. And sad. And all the other disappointed emotions. It was humiliating being escorted to every lesson as if she were still in primary school. It was awful to be stuck in the dreary dungeon. But strangely enough, she had almost become accustomed to it. Because now, she was just numb.

She entered the Charms classroom sullenly, her usual enthusiasm for the subject nowhere to be found. "Hello," she greeted Professor Peralta quietly without looking her in the eye. She just didn't have it in her to be fake polite today. Avalon made her way to the left side of the room—another classroom occurrence she had strangely become accustomed to as of late. The Ravenclaw sat down unhappily, trying not to glare at the students on the right side of the room. It wasn't their fault, but she was feeling a bit of resentment toward them nonetheless.

ArianaBlack 02-27-2021 05:29 PM

Kinsay hated being sandwiched between the horrible, tall people and taken from place to place like a prisoner. If this is what it felt like to be locked up in Azkaban then Kinsay did not want it. She didn't want it even before this experience, to be fair, but she didn't want it doubly so now. These things were important to note sometimes.

Stepping into the classroom, she paused briefly to look over at their professor. She was trying her best. Kinsay could tell. "Hi, Professor." There wasn't a whole lot more to be said, so she looked around (wanting to sit by Tavie more than anything) (she missed Tavie a whole lot) (a whole, whole lot), but then moved towards the left side of the room. She did look at Tavie the whole time though, trying to convey how much she missed her.

No hints today. More because Neva never knew if she'd need to change direction during the lesson than to provide an air of mystery. Everything was up in the air when it came to their hooded audience and she needed to be ready to shift gears if necessary.

"Morning, Miss Blaze."

"Good morning, Miss Jenovick." The fifth year's smile was returned and the Charms professor watched as she took her seat. It was strange how quiet the room was these days without the usual, quiet pre-class chit-chat. Strange that she'd miss something like that, but she did.

And Miss James appeared to be the last of them. The brunette offered the second year a small smile. "Morning, Miss James. Please find your seat."

After checking the time, Professor Peralta glanced out into the corridor for any stragglers and when none were found, she closed the door. Time to put her game face on, class was in session.

"Alright everyone, let's get started. If you haven't already, please put away everything but your charms materials and turn your eyes to the front of the room." She wanted them focused, or at least pretending to be. Appearances mattered more than ever these days. "Let's start with a question. What spells do you know that might impede the movement of an opponent?" With a flick of her wand, the question appeared on the board behind her and she perched on her desk, hoping the kids would put in some effort today. Things would be easier that way. There was literally nothing worse than hearing crickets after asking a question in class.

OOC: Hi friends, sorry about the late start! RL is a crazy thing. First question is up and it is: What spells do you know that might impede the movement of an opponent? Any and all answers are appreciated! Please try not to repeat answers if you can! Class will move on in about 24 hours

BanaBatGirl 02-27-2021 06:02 PM

It didn't really matter where Bernie sat anymore, did it? Nothing mattered; this was her mood of the day. She sighed deeply and LoOkEd tO tHe FrOnT oF tHe RoOm. Why did Peralta treat them like they were in elementary school? This class was sometimes THE WORST. And sometimes it was the best, but today was not one of those times.

"Impedimenta," she rattled off the obvious answer first. Hey, if you could be first, why not?

astrocat 02-27-2021 06:52 PM

Ash did not put away the marker. She simply moved her arms under the table where the professor couldn't see and continued to doodle. "Petrificus totalus makes it so that you can't move at all." She could think of several answers, but she wasn't going to put in undue effort. Plus, she didn't want to take all the other answers. Then other people would have to put in undue effort. As far as Ash was concerned, that would be unfair. She looked the professor straight in the face as she continued to sneakily draw on her arms. Out of sight, of course. She would put them away when she had to. Which was definitely not now. If she couldn't rebel against Rosier, then she would rebel against everyone else instead.

Mamie sat up a liiiiittle straighter as class started. Totally paying attention, this one. Not just pretending. She did want to learn some new charms, even if she was grumpy and tired and on the headmaster's watch list for being a Muggleborn. Who knew? Maybe what they learned today could help them escape survive The Room. She nibbled on the inside of her cheek as she tried to think what spells she knew that could make it harder for someone to move. Bernadette had already said the obvious answer.

She raised her hand. "Incarcerous," she said. Being tied up could definitely make it harder to move. Plus, she was getting good at that one.

Receiving her wand at the beginning of every lesson, Ivy held tightly onto her wand, never wanting to let it go, but at the end of every lesson, she always had to. It made her wish the lessons were longer, which was something she wouldn't have thought she'd ever want before this term. But there were a lot of things different about her back then.

For now, she rolled it absent-mindedly in one hand as she thought about what spells would answer Professor Peralta's question. Finally, her free hand rose up. "There's Glacius," she said. "Cover the surface someone's walking on in ice and that'll make it more difficult to move."

Kale was finding the repetition of lessons tedious. The Room™ was mind-numbing, so he would've liked some variety in his out-of-Room activities. Alas. It seemed like the curriculum for every class in the history of never now was about how to inflict pain on Muggles.

Or was that not where this lesson was heading?

While Kale remained an upbeat and helpful force in the Room, in classes he felt more anonymous, like he didn't have to put on such a show that he was fine. Which meant he was kinda quiet. Sorry, Professor.

Still, he managed to quietly contribute, "Rictusempra." A good giggle could bring down any witch or wizard.

Avalon's eyes were already drooping, and class had only just begun. She knew it was going to be tough to make it through the lesson. She hadn't been sleeping well ever since she'd been brought imprisoned to her new....accommodations. The floor of the Room wasn't exactly a comfy sleeping spot.

The Ravenclaw blinked a few times, trying to keep herself alert. "The jelly-legs curse," she managed to say after raising her hand. Not exactly the most sophisticated way to stop someone, but it was effective nonetheless. It was hard to move when your legs were collapsing out from under you.

Good morning? GOOD?!

Minjae stopped twirling his wand between his fingers and accidentally dropped it on his lap. For some reason, these words annoyed him because it was not a good morning. But instead of voicing his thoughts, Minjae merely gave the professor a small nod because he knew that the alliance was watching before he picked his wand back up and placed it in his pocket.

"The knockback jinx" he said after raising a hand in the air. Nothing more to add, he was too tired for that.

Everything was so stupid that Aboli didn't feel like answering. What was the point of school? She was tired anyway. Her dreams had been the worst they'd been in a long time, and she willed that her mother would connect with her through the dream realm so, but so far, no such luck.

Zero.

And it was getting to her.

What had Peralta said? Aboli couldn't keep her eyes open. She rubbed them a little bit to help, but other than that, she hardly moved. She also spotted Noah and made sure to hold eye contact for a second before trying to pay attention to class. They could talk...later. Later.
