| | |  Broom Cupboard
 Between the front doors and the entrance to the Great Hall, you notice a random oak door. Opening this door will reveal a small broom cupboard that, as the name obviously suggests, contains brooms. You observe that the musty old closet also contains mops, pails, and other cleaning supplies and solutions that the caretaker is often seen walking around with. Beyond that, there is really is nothing interesting going on here.
In spite of how unexciting this part of the castle is, for some reason teenagers in the past felt the need to practice their French (no, we don't mean the Romance language) here of all ironically unromantic places. If you are caught doing so in here by anyone, you better bet your galleons, sickles, and knuts that you'll be kissing your freedom goodbye because you will be spending several days in detention, where you will be reminded of the original purpose of this closet and learn how to use the items that are stored here without the use of magic.

The broom cupboard was a great place. You could laugh in there, cry in there, do anything you wanted, hide even. And nobody would ever come check. They wouldn't even THINK to check. It was one of the safest spots in the castle. Hence why a certain Ashley Fox was hanging out in here. She sat, back against the wall, her legs sticking out in front of her. She looked towards, the ceiling, trying to calm down. Relax. It's a quiet place. Nobody will ever come here to get you. They won't. After a few minutes, her nerves settled. Slowly, she pulled out some letters her friend had written her from last year. He couldn't write any now, but she could read the ones from before the world came crashing down. Where was he now? Was he still alive? Did he know that she was in danger? Did he think she was dead? Despite her worries, the letters calmed her down a little more. She took some deep breaths. You're safe. Probably. |

Even though he was terrified for his less than pure peers, Apollo was slowly beginning to understand a little something called privilege that he hadn't even realized he had until he got to Hogwarts. Didn't stop him from using said privilege to explore though, which was where stumbled upon a small cupboard and a small girl amongst the brooms.
"Are you ... okay...?" he asked timidly, unsure if he really was seeing an actual human or one of Hogwarts ghosts.

Which is why I'm here. But maybe I like being in a broom closet. It's like a laundry room, but smaller. The only people who will ever find you are people who actually look into broom closets and laundry rooms. I've never met someone I disliked while I was hiding in a weird spot. Bad people only hang out in hallways, and I stand by that." Bad people meaning the hoodie cult squad crazy people, and some other people. Emmerson hung out in hallways. But also probably low-key shouldn't. And he also wished he knew where his feline was because she could probably use the cuddles cause kitty cuddles made everything better, unless she was allergic, in which case never mind. Also the fact that she openly said she never met anyone she disliked in a weird hiding spot meant he was already in the books for not part of the everything she hated.
"Exploring." He closed the door finally behind him and slid down to the ground, leaning back against the door. "It's kind of creepy in here. But in a cool way. So you hate almost everything or ... just people who want half the wizarding population dead?" He whispered that bit. You know, just in case the hood people were listening. But then again, so what if they were? Oh wait, because he was eleven and could count on one hand the number of spells he was confident with and he doubted any of them would serve him well in a duel. The only thing he did have was gryffindor stupidity bravery and well, he wasn't exactly sure that would hold up well. "So uh... you're ... this isn't your first year here, right? what was Hogwarts like ... before?" He was pretty sure she hadn't been standing up there at his sorting ceremony, but then again he was a ball of nerves and after his sorting he didn't pay attention to anyone except Bella pretty much.

Only like, the hoodie squad, my archnemesis, and being stuck here for the next million years." Those were all seperate things. Hogwarts in general, Lucien Rosier and his crew, and HER ARCHNEMESIS. BUt other than that, she loved everything. But those were some pretty big things to hate. "Yeah, I'm a second year. Hogwarts was so different last year. Instead of having Rosier as headmaster, we had what was probably Rosier in polyjuice. And instead of blowing up the tech lounge and muggle dummies, I burned down a forest. And instead of breaking my arm falling, I broke my face falling. It was wayyyy better." She laughed. "The whole vibe was different. It still sucked but at least nobody was trying to kill me on purpose. Except for maybe Rosier in polyjuice." She laughed again. Why? Because it was funny. Ash was really developing a taste for dark humor, irony, and deadpan. Why? Because those were the only types of humor that existed anymore. | |

But when I broke my face, everyone went 'poor Ashley Fox, always getting into trouble that she doesn't ask for'. Now they just say 'henceforth etcetera hence why muggleborns are henceforth stupid and they suck henceforth. Hope someone casts an unforgiveable at you Ash, because I think you dissed me once." She laughed. Again. "So the vibes are different. Last year we were all in in the same sinking boat, ad this year, we've decided that it's the fault of muggleborns and started trying to drown them. "Like the boat analogy, we're not in the same boat anymore, because she kicked me out of it. But one day, I swear that I will get payback." Maybe like, tell all of her boyfriends what she had done. Or, even better, bring up that moment at inopportune moments. Or maybe steal her best friends. Not her boyfriends though. Ash had exactly one person she wanted to date. So she would not be stealing boyfriends. Even if it would be really funny and well-deserved. | |

Emmerson. He met her before he started Hogwarts and of course knew her because they were in the same house, but he frowned in disbelief when Ashley informed him that she called her a mudblood. "No. She didn't." He said, except why would someone lie about that? "Wowwww... I just ... I'm .. that just doesn't make sense. I mean why would she do that? That's just wrong and disgusting and I'm so sorry on her behalf." He chewed his lower lip thoughtfully. "You can come in my boat... if you want. I mean, I'm a pureblood, technically, and don't think the hoods have any reason to hate me, so it'd probably be a good thing. As an ally." Because he had no reason to not ally with her. Also, she was a Ravenclaw and who knew when he might need someone from the smart person house to help him out?

Like, seriously. Why waste time trying to sabotage your enemies when they sabotaged themselves? Plus, Ash had seen no external long-term repercussions. She wasn't the one who lost a lot of friends. "No need to apologize on her behalf. She isn't sorry and I could care less if she is or not." SHe wasn't planning on forgiving anyone. But all the things had worked out in the end.

See? Ash had absolutely weaseled her way out of that one. Self-preservation was amazing, wasn't it? It even worked on adrenaline-loving people such as Ash.
Did this kid know how funny he was? First it was You don't LOOK like you broke your face and now it was You can come in my boat... if you want. She couldn't explain why she found it amusing, but it just WAS. She stifled a laugh. "Sure I can "come in your boat". Dunno what that means but I'll figure it out at some point." She paused. The hoods didn't hate him yet? Huh. "Well don't give them a reason to hate you. It's way easier to get away with stuff when nobody suspects you. I kinda blew that when I lied on my blood forms and yelled at Rosier, but it isn't too late for you. I still get away with loads of things though." Ashley Fox had burned down a forest, threatened the leader of a cult on his first day in charge, and punched a pureblood in the face, and what happened to her? She got one death threat, lost ten points, and got detention. What a success.
