Valencia was excited to explore the outside world. It was tradition every year that she'd grab a book and wander the grounds to see if there was anything new and to enjoy some time outside before it got too cold and she was trapped in the castle until spring... or later... depending on whether or not the school was locked in some sort of vortex.

She smiled as she passed a pond and decided to take a seat. She liked the lily pads. It reminded her of the Monet paintings. She settled on the bench and watched the ducks. Look at them swimming around. It was cute. Maybe she'd see little ducklings? She set her rune book in her lap. She could afford a small little break, right?

What does one do when they're back at school and their girlfriend future wife won't get her head out of books? Run. And so Royse did. Aboli being mad at him for who knows what reason and him not really liking being alone that much anymore had him outside yet again with no shirt and jogging around the grounds. Honestly, he was tired of studying, tired of school and it just started. This was a nice reprieve.

He slowed down a bit as he saw a familiar figure by the pond and grinned. Turning he made a detour and headed her way. "Do my eyes deceive me or is there a Claw sitting outside?" he said as he got closer and looked down at her.

Valencia looked over when she heard him and smiled. "Hey. I go outside to read all the time." she said still smiling. She then held out her book as proof to what she was doing.

"Want to sit? I was just watching the ducks." Which maybe wasn't super exciting, but was relatively calming. "And then I was going to get back to studying. Runes aren't going to memorize themselves."

Royse chuckled and wiped the sweat from his forehead as he stopped next to her. "Outside reading is peaceful but usually I find you in the library." Which was true. Every time he went to look for her. Library.

He nodded and sat next to her. "Watching the ducks huh?" He looked out at the pond and smiled. "Too bad we don't have anything to feed them." His eyes went over to her book and he smiled softly. "I'm not taking that this year. Or Arithmancy actually."

Valencia nodded. "I am outside if the weather is nice and the castle isn't in an alternate dimension." Just saying. "But I like the library too. A lot."

She looked him over when he sat next to her. "You're sweaty." she commented.

"Really?" she asked tilting her head to the side. "That's too bad. Those two are some of my favorite classes."

"Too bad we live where it rains a lot and we get stuck in the castle more often than not," Royse said half teasing anyway. It did seem like they were always inside. Combine that with his usual stuck inside over holidays and he should really be a lot paler than he was. He looked down at his tan that he acquired from working with Val and grinned. "I am sweaty," he laughed and looked up at her. "Exercise does that at times you know. Makes you all sweaty. But I get fit and muscles." He flexed his arm and gave her a wink.

Hearing her question he shrugged. "They aren't mine. I get confused and mix things up. I'm surprised I scored an E in Arithmancy honestly. It's like...I stare at the paper and everything just doesn't make sense and honestly I don't want my last two years here to be that way."

Valencia shook her head, amused, and poked his arm. "Yes, yes. Very nice."

She could not comprehend someone not wanting to spend the last two years learning ALL THE THINGS! She was the exact opposite. She was determined to learn it all and especially liked ones that people thought were complicated.

"Alright. Tell me then -- how do you want to spend your last two years here?" Because she was curious. She was also planning on using this information to her advantage.

Royse smirked and flexed as she poked his arm. Yes it was nice. He spent a lot of time on himself and was very proud. Granted he knew she really didn't care. Or maybe she did and just wouldn't tell him. Hmmm.

Hearing her question he shrugged. "I imagine a lot of homework and studying for NEWTs." He looked at her and smiled softly, "Spending time with you. What about you? Library time for days?"

His fingers pulled at the grass taking care to not actually pull any out. Too bad he didn't have anything to feed the ducks. Hmm.

Valencia smiled. "Think I can read all the books before I leave here?" Because that sounded like a fun goal. Was it also a weird goal? Probably. But she did like reading and it drove her insane knowing that there were things out there she didn't know anything about. SHE HAD TO KNOW A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING.

HAD.

TO.

She watched him pull at the grass. "You really want to feed the ducks, don't you? You could run by the kitchen and grab some oats or chopped grapes."

"Mmmm I think you can if you really want. You read faster than I do." Royse chuckled and looked at her. Nothing new or surprising and he loved her for that. Her insane thirst for knowledge which some thought really was insane but he knew was just her.

Hearing her question he blushed. "Kiiiiind of..." He smiled and looked at her. "I'd summon it but I don't have my wand..." Hint...hint...

Noah had set it up. Aboli was here, at the time she had told Minjae right on the dime. Her hair was set in curls, and she had tried to look very very very very NICE. She was wearing a dress, a red one, and matching white gloves. She was nervous about the gloves because she hadn't ever told Minjae about herself, but she was sure it would come up.

Because this...was a date.

And not just any date. It was a date she had INSISTED upon to Noah in order to push back any feelings she might have for male bestie to the back of her mind and heart. Plus, she DID find Minjae cute and funny when he wasn't being...a knucklehead. She had left the food up to Minjae, but she had brought a blanket and some crackers and cheese. She had told HIM to figure out the food...Aboli couldn't plan the entire thing on her own. Where was the romance in THAT?

And so, she was here, trying to convince herself that this was totally fine, and she would TOTALLY snog him by the end of the date and everything wasn't FALLING APART.

Coming from a rich family had its perks sometimes. Because of this, the Hufflepuff had a couple of nice clothes in his closet which he rarely wore while at Hogwarts because they had to wear uniforms anyways but for a date, he was glad he had something nice to wear. At first he had opted for a suit but then thought that that would be too over the top and instead decided to wear a midnight blue dress shirt with black pants and his favorite watch as an accessory. No tie because he wanted to show that he was cool yet sophisticated, whatever that meant.

He had even done his hair , (which usually looked like he had just rolled out of bed), in to something nice and he thought he had done a pretty decent job. It certainly wasn’t how his hairstylist did it when he had to attend business parties to shake hands as the son of the CEO but he was pleased with it.

Now, Minjae had etiquette lessons as a child but he had never applied them in real life as he had NEVER had a date before. In fact, just the thought of this being a DATE made him extremely nervous as he walked to the duck pond. He still wondered why he was asked out because he didn't get the impression that anyone liked him? And why the duck pond out of all places cause it didn’t seem that romantic to him… But what did he know? He had NEVER been on a date!

He was on time though and he held a basket around his arm with the food he had stolen brought from the kitchens. Was he supposed to bring flowers too? Or was that too much? He knew nothing about flowers though so what if he accidentally gave her a poisonous one?? So yeah, no flower. Or maybe he should have??

Spotting Aboli dressed in a red dress, the Hufflepuff was about to wave at her excitedly like he always did but quickly lowered his arm because it would look too childish. ”Hey Aboli” he greeted instead with a small yet nervous smile as he sat down on the blanket as well and placed the basket in front of him. ”Your weather looks nice..DRESS I meant dress what?” breeeeathe ”You look nice” Oh gosh he could already feel his ears turning bright red.

And was he supposed to say that she looked beautiful instead of nice?! WHY did electronic devices not work at Hogwarts? He could have worn one of his bodyguard’s in-ear piece and Noah could have guided him through this.

Aboli was glad her DATE was arriving on time. Look, he had even dressed up for this! AND he looked cute. So cute that Aboli would have to BRAG afterward to Noah...because he tooootally wanted to know how cute Minjae was and how CUTE Aboli thought he was - RIGHT? Right. She laughed at his greeting, which made her feel at ease because if he was nervous, it meant she was pretty cool, right? Did she often make people - guys - nervous? did she make Noah nervous???

Ahem.


"Ah, thanks. You look nice, too. Blue is a great color for you." She leaned on her toes to kiss his cheek and took his arm in hers, leading him a little closer to the pond. "I figured we could eat and feed the ducks AFTER we ate....which, I hope you know ducks can't eat bread. It's really bad for them. Muggles insist on feeding them bread still, and it REALLY makes my blood boil - did you KNOW ducks can lose their ability to FLY because of bread?" she prattled on. Maybe she was more nervous than she thought.

She unfolded the blanket from her own basket and spread it near the pond. It was a nice day, which meant there was a gentle breeze and the sun was peeking out slightly instead of the usual gloom of the UK. She had a seat in the most ladylike way she can manage, crossing her ankles and whatnot, and leaned back on her elbows. Her hair was sticking to her armpits since it had sliiiid that way as she sat; this was not fun. How did women wear their hair down a lot? In an attempt to get it behind her back, she did a little flip with her hands of her hair...there. Aboli didn't even consider herself the opposite of a girly-girl! She was as feminine as she wanted to be, and she liked feeling pretty, but she just...wasn't used to this.

"This is my first date, by the way, so no pressure. Honestly, you have nothing to live up to, soooOOoo..." she chuckled, a polite hand over her mouth as she did so.

He didn’t feel cute at all. Sure, the clothes were nice and expensive but they also reminded him of home. At Hogwarts, he could wear whatever he wanted when he did not have classes but back at home he wore these types of clothes. He both hated it and missed his home thinking about this…

Also, he thought that green was more his color but he wasn't stupid enough to argue with that so he smiled and nodded.

He was pulled out of his thought when Aboli suddenly leaned in to kiss his cheek and pulled him closer to the water. And his stomach did a little flip. Though, not in the butterfly kind of way. He was uncomfortable with physical contact just like this and he was sure he had told the Slytherin about this before but…maybe she had forgotten? Still, this was a date. It was right? And if he wanted to have a girlfriend he had to grow up and get rid of his discomfort.

So with that in mind, the Hufflepuff let himself being dragged closer to the pond. He watched her as she unfolded the blanket and in the back of his mind he heard a small voice telling him to help out but he didn’t , he was too distracted about what on earth he was supposed to do or say. How did dates even go? Did you talk? And about what? He didn’t want to talk about his troubles again that would bring the mood down. But he didn’t have any interesting things to tell either? He liked gaming. Leading his guild members in to unknown territory and battling monsters was something he was interested in but he also knew many did not.

He was therefore glad that Aboli decided to talk first. ”I know…” he said as she talked about bread and ducks and he looked over at the creatures in the water. ”Our gardener chased after me once when I tried to feed them that in our pond” he chuckled as he thought back to the memory. ”That’s how I learned that but a lot of people don’t know” he sighed.

”I uhm, I wasn’t sure what to bring for food so I …bought everything?’ he laughed sheepishly as he opened the basket and placed it in the middle of the blanket showing mini sandwiches. All kinds of bite sized fruits like strawberries and pineapple. He even bought slices of pizza with him cause who didn’t like pizza?! Some wraps and chocolate cause DUH.

”Oh I also got…” He opened the back of the basket and with the help of a cooling charm that kept the drinks cool, Minjae took out two bottles of butterbeer from Hogsmeade and grinned. ”I uh made an order a few days ago…I hope its okay?” she wasn’t allergic to anything right?

He was slowly starting to relax. The weather was nice, the food was nice (he hoped) and the ducks were adorable AND he had a date. A DATE. LIKE WHAT? Oh gosh he was on a date…what did that even mean?! Ok he was panicking again.

And the feeling worsened when she told him that she had never gone on a date before. Didn’t she realize that instead of making him comfortable she was only adding pressure?? Because he didn’t saw it as ‘nothing to live up to’ but as ‘I need to make this good now or else she will forever remember her first date as a disaster and aksfhgaklgjwrglahwrgl .

”It’s -- IT’S MY FIRST DATE TOO” he hadn’t meant to yell and he could feel his ears turning bright red again. Noah!! please help, he had no clue what he was supposed to do T_T

Honestly, Aboli had forgotten. She had found that out during last term when their memories were going in and out. So...yeah. She forgot. What WAS funny, though, was that SHE herself did not like touching people skin-to-skin for her own reasons, but she was pushing past that when she had kissed his cheek. It had sent a jolt of nerves down her spine, though, probably because he was so nervous.

She wondered if he would ask about her gloves....should she take them off? Especially if she planned on snogging him anyway? Hmhmhmhmhmmmm. She left them on for now.

Gardener? Riiiiight. He was filthy rich. That was something Aboli had NOT forgotten. "What's it like to have a gardener?" she asked curiously as she got comfortable on the blanket. Her family was pretty well off - they had an extra home in Korea, for Merlin's sake - but her mother didn't have any hired hands or anything around the house. Ziggy preferred to do things herself or with Tony's help.

Well, he wasn't kidding when he had said everything! Aboli's eyes got round when she noticed the PIZZA. "You brought PIZZA? WOW Minjae!" she laughed and clapped her hands together in glee. "Why so MUCH? You know I am only ONE person and only eat for ONE person! RIGHT?" she teased him, picking up a piece of chocolate first. Nothing wrong with a little sweetness before she dug into that pizza. She then gestured at the pineapple. "Do you like pineapple on your pizza? Answer veeeeeeeery carefully, Minjae," she smirked and wiggled her eyebrows playfully. Aboli was under the impression that the flavor combination was EXPLOSIVE and had so much DEPTH to it; IE...SHE WAS A FAN. But if he wasn't...she wouldn't mind. It was only an issue if he was adamantly opposed to it!

BUTTERBEER! Aboli nodded vehemently. "No no I love butterbeer! This is great!" He had really thought of everything. It was nice to have someone care about spending time with you so much that they thought of little details. It showed Aboli that he really had put thought and effort into this - it warmed her, a little.

WHY WAS HE YELLING?!

"OH Merlin OKAY Minjae - " she had a lot of nerve since SHE was loud sometimes, too. "But yes, I'm glad to hear that. Now even if this goes nowhere after this, we will always remember each other as our first official datemates!" she laughed a little, wondering if that was an offensive statement, then regretting it, but not wishing to take it BACK so she downed some butterbeer to shut herself up, resulting in her downing it too quickly and CHOKING VIOLENTLY as it went down the "wrong tube."

She was HEAVING as she leaned over, feeling like everyone does when swallowing liquid too fast - LIKE SHE WAS BLOODY DYING.

Valencia grinned. "I want. I really, really want." If Valencia was anything, it was consistently hungry for knowledge.

"Weren't you just running? Is it really too much work to go to the kitchen to get a little duck snack?" she asked. "And isn't flying food a little dangerous?" But she did hold out her wand to him. It wasn't the first time he'd used it and it probably wouldn't be the last.

What was it like to have a gardener? "Eeeh..." he said as he thought. It was the same as having maids, a chef and a driver? He wasn't sure how to answer this question because it was completely normal for him. "I don't know...i used to think that everyone had one working for them" he chuckled. Of course he later learned that that was not the case.

He watched her for a moment as he too leaned back on his arms, his legs facing the duck pond as one of the ducks swam past them. He had never expected that Aboli would have asked him out and although they were friends, he never gotten the impression that she had liked him in that kind of way. Asking why she had wanted to go on a date with him would be considered rude right? WHY was dating so complicated?! No one ever told him how terrifying it was! One mistake and it could be over, maybe even as friends Maybe he wasn't cut out for this.

So....the pizza was a good idea? Judging by Aboli's reaction, it had been and he sighed a little in relief. He had been afraid he would get scolded for not knowing how to pick a single food theme. Still, she was right that he had brought too much. He panicked in the kitchen okay? So instead of choosing he had grabbed everything in sight that could have fit in the basket.

Did i do it wrong? I'm sorry. If its too much we can...i don't know...maybe take some slices with you and eat them as a midnight snack?" As for the pineapple on the pizza, the teen looked thoroughly confused as this seemed to be some kind of test and he had no idea what it was. What did she mean with pineapple on pizza? Was that bad? Good? Or was it dating code for something he should have known about?! Seriously where was Noah when he needed him T_______T "It's ....well, i never had it before i think..." was that the correct answer?

He too picked up one of the chocolates and as he ate it he pointed at her gloves. "Won't those get dirty?" now that he thought about , she always wore gloves didn't she? Was that like her fashion thing? Just like his was that he always wore a watch?

At least the Butterbeer had been a success. He grinned a little as he picked up his own bottle and took a swig out of it when his date was choking on her own drink. "Geez, are you ok?' he asked as he eyed her with an concerned expression. She didn't sound okay but he also knew that he would only make things worse if he tried to help out. "Don't lean over, sit upright and just breathe" he said. He knew she wasn't dying, everyone choked on their drinks every once in a while. He wasn't even if that would work for her though but it was something that worked for him when he coughed up a lung from drinking the wrong way.

Aboli laaaaaughed. "No, silly. Only fancy rich people have gardeners. And some fancy rich people don't even have them because gardening can be seen as a SOOTHING activity, depending on how green your thumb is and whatnot," she shrugged as she picked at some of the pineapples. "I remember you saying, now, that your home-life is really fancy. You have a DRIVER and a house cleaner and stuff. That's cool I guess. You must be spoiled," she nodded and raised an eyebrow at him. "I actually feel more spoiled HERE than at home because my dad is so...strict about us keeping our own areas clean. Like, on our own. We could totally AFFORD that stuff...my dad's famous in Korea, so...." she shrugged.

Wrong?! Aboli shook her head and chuckled. "Not wrong, Minjae. Very nice, actually," she said with a small shrug. "I can bring some back with me, sure, and I can share with Fiona or Maia or something..." She then took some of the pineapple and placed them delicately on a slice of pizza before passing it toward him. "Try it. I want to know your IMMEDIATE reaction." She smirked as she did the same to her slice. THE DEPTH OF FLAVOR WAS INCOMPARABLE.

You know, that was all before she started dying. Choking. This was the end. Tell her mother she had lived a GOOD life despite the rocky start, and that she was -

"DO. I. LOOK. OK?" she managed to breathe out in between hacking coughs. She followed his advice and managed to sit up straighter and breaaaaathe. If she was breathing, she wasn't choking and dying. That was good news, she guessed.

From the corner of his eyes, Minjae saw a couple of ducks waddling on the grass near the picnic blanket they sat on. As long as they didn't steal any of the food...

"Your dad is famous?! Wow! Is he an actor or something?"

The way she mentioned his lifestyle at home, it did sounded like he was extremely spoiled but he did not feel that way at all. "I feel suffocated at home..." he said with a frown on his face. "But at hogwarts , i feel like i can be myself" he shifted his body until he sat on his knees because he found that comfortable before looking at Aboli with such a proud look on his face, he looked like a puppy for a split second. "I said no to taking over my father's company by the way" he grinned now but that grin slowly faded. "Do... Do you think i did the right thing? I mean, I did basically threw away millions..."

When he was handed the pineapple on pizza, the Hufflepuff took it and looked at it. "Are you sure that this is how you're supposed to eat it?" he asked. "I mean, i never had it before but i do know that the pineapple is supposed to be hot as well...?" he didn't sound so sure of himself though.

Well, no. She did not look okay. But what in Merlin's Beard was he supposed to do? It wasn't like she was choking on food, she had just drank too fast and she certainly wasn't going to die from that. At least she followed his advice. His mother had taught him to sit upright when he was coughing up a lung. And it usually worked for him.

"Hey, can i ask you something? Well two things actually since this was a question as well" he asked as he looked at her gloves. "Did something happen to your hands when you were younger?" Because now that he thought about it, she usually wore gloves right? He was just wondering if she had any scars or burn wounds or something like that. "Sorry if it's rude..."

She nodded vigorously. "Yes! He was...what's called an idol over there until he retired from his group and became an actor. He does dramas, mostly," she shrugged. "We spend a LOT of holidays there because of it."

Ohh. He had said no! She did remember his dilemma from last term. "So...is your brother going to take it, then?" she asked as she nibbled from her pizza, reliiiiiishing the the taste. Honestly, he had done well. Truly! She'd be telling Noah ALLLLLL about it later. "I mean, it's not like your parents will leave you with nothing...you'll still be set for life with whatever you do, right?" Like, even if he chose a "mediocre" job, he STILL had his parents' money. In her eyes, there was really no loss....

She snorted and shrugged. "It doesn't hAVE to be hot...plus, have you never eaten cold pizza before? It's the best!" she took another small bite before setting the piece down, RECOVERING FROM HER CHOKING SPELL.

WHICH SHE WAS FINE.

SHE REALLY WAS FINE.

OKAY.

"I'm okay...I'm...okay okay..." Yes. Right. MOVING ON.

She glanced down at her hands and shook her head. "No...no. My hands are fine." She slooooowly peeled her gloves from her hands, showing him her skin. "Are you asking because you're wondering why I wear gloves so much?" she tilted her head to the side, meeting his gaze as she questioned him.

Noah totally wasn't just chilling at the pond cause he thought it was a beautiful day. NO. He was here to keep surveillance on his two dearest friends.... As he watched Aboli's reactions and the near CHOKING on food, he had to RESTRAIN himself from running in there to help her out... but Minjae seemed to have it under control. Uh.. Cool. Cool. He sat there, hiding awkwardly, feeling incredibly awkward. He didn't know what to make of the situation. Sure he was in a relationship himself but there was a part of him that wanted to be in Minjae's shoes, especially as he watched Aboli laugh.

Jealousy was an ugly expression on his face.

Not wanting to see more, he threw himself back on the ground and sighed. He should leave the scene but part of him wanted to keep observing the date. Hopefully Minjae wouldn't stuff this up.

Wow. Just wow. He wished he had an actor as a father. His father was famous as well but only in the business world so...not the same. "Must be strange though" he said. "When did you realize he was famous?" he'd ask for a name but decided against it eventually as it might be private. Maybe if he visited her place during the summer he'd get to know who it was.

Of course, that all depended on how this date went. In the sense that if they would still be friends if it went nowhere. He did hope they continued to be friends but he also had a feeling that things would be a bit awkward afterwards.

Minjae watched her for a moment as she ate the pizza. Was it really that good? Now that he thought about it, a lot of muggles were arguing about whether it was a good combination or not weren't they? Muggles were weird.

"Well, yes..." he said slowly as he lowered the pizza with the pineapple that Aboli placed on it instead of taking a bite. "He wanted to take over as well so it's not as if it goes against his will either" the only problem was that he too was going to be entering Hogwarts in two years. Maybe, like him, he would choose a different path as well. Not his problem anymore though.

Still be set for life. The Hufflepuff's ears went bright red for the , how many times had it been? "That....is true... man i feel horrible for this. Knowing that whatever i do, i always have back-up money" he sighed heavily as he stared in front of him, though he wasn't really looking at anything in particular. "I have been thinking about donating some of my money to charities but the more i think about it the more i realize i would be doing it to make myself feel good, so is it good then?" maybe he was reading too much in to this. Still, that was a primary aspect of his personality though.

"......I can't say i have" he said carefully as she mentioned a cold pizza. The chef at his house always prepared food fresh and at Hogwarts he ate during dinner when it was still hot. He never even thought about eating hot food as cold.

He really couldn't get out of it anymore though. So the Hufflepuff brought the pizza (topped by the pineapple piece) to his mouth and took a bite. The taste was.....interesting if that was the right word. He wasn't sure whether he liked it or not though. "It's ...not as sweet as i thought it would be" he said, talking about the pineapple. "I still prefer warm pizza though"
Placing the piece of pizza next to him, Minjae picked up a strawberry and ate that instead.

At least the coughing had stopped. In the back of his mind he still wondered if he should have done more than telling her to sit upright. But everything would have just worsened the situation. Sometimes it was better to do nothing. But STILL...

Her hands were fine? Minjae couldn't help it, he looked down curiously as she took off her gloves. Was he disappointed that there was nothing? A bit. "Well, yes" he nodded his head. He had thought about a lot of things from a scar to a fashion statement. But he was still curious about this. "I mean, if you want to tell me" he said with a shrug of his shoulders.

Aboli thought about it. "I guess...well...he started mum right after she had my little brother...so I think I kind of always knew," she shrugged. "Remember, my dad is really stepdad...he's Korean." She smiled a little and nodded. "Hence why I can understand it pretty well. He taught me and my little brother so that whenever we visit there we would know how to speak the language, I guess." Whatever the case, she was thankful to know three languages. English, Hindi, and Korean.

His musings about his money issues, or rather non-issues, amused Aboli because the question of morality had cropped up. "It's always the question isn't it? Is something morally good if you do it for the wrong reasons? Are YOU morally good if you do something to make yourself feel good? Very good question, Minjae. And only YOU can make that decision for yourself. Perhaps doing any good is fine...for the world," she shrugged and continued eating her pizza. She did NOT notice Noah SPYING ON THEM...but that was probably a good thing.

"Warm pizza is overrated, by the way," she muttered as she smirked at him playfully.

Now. She had to decide whether to tell Minjae the truth or...withhold it. She looked down at her hands, sighed a little, and nodded. "I'll tell you...my mother...is seer," she spoke softly, as if she did not want anyone to hear - not even the ducks, since there were only the ducks near them and the spying Noah. And she...you know, told him.

It was one of those rare spring days where it was actually NICE outside, and not raining from morning to night. Of course, since it HAD been raining the whole week up until that point, it was all muddy and gross out. Which was great for Adam, because he didn't mind the mud at all. All sorts of cool bugs and creatures liked the mud!
