Blake had perked up a bit when Kale and Bernadette sat next to him. And then Emmerson sat down to ..... he wasn't so sure about the last one ... after the muggle studies lesson. Maybe class was going to be okay after all. "Hey Guys." He replied an then turned toward Professor Kitridge. "Yes Professor, I'm alright." He added, tired and cranky for no good reason ... but alright. She wanted them to try on clothes? No wonder the mention of the boys ... who boy wanted to go to the store and try on clothes ... not Blake that's for sure. But .... what else was there to do? Not participate that wasn't an option, so going to the front and picking out some blue jeans and tshirt that look cozy he went into the fitting room. |

"I have a cold," Crimalla answered the professor's concern, trying not to sound too concerned herself. "I'm feeling better than yesterday. I think I'll be okay." But if Professor Kitridge wanted to send her to the hospital wing, then she wouldn't complain. Wait, they were trying on new clothes? Okay, this was something she wanted to take part in.Please don't send me to the hospital wing! she thought excitedly as she got ready to participate."Ooh! Do we get to keep the clothes, professor?" she asked hopefully. Forgetting her cold for the moment, the young Ravenclaw hurried to the dressing stations and began looking for something interesting. Obviously, she would need something to cover her throat. Right now she was wearing a scarf, but there were many other scarves she could see as choices in the dressing rooms. And looking beyond that... "No thanks," she muttered as she looked a few t-shirts up and down. She wasn't in the mood for a t-shirt, even if combined with a scarf. That turtleneck shirt on the other hand looked just right. It was red - and red was her favorite color. (Even though she was a Ravenclaw, she liked the color combination of Gryffindor better - though obviously she liked Ravenclaw's name and house animal best.) Putting the scarlet red turtle neck shirt on, she combined it with a black pants, tucking the scarf under her arm. |
Oh look - Avalon and Naya took seats at her table, and she shook her head the Gryffindor. "Nah. Have a seat!" she smiled and glanced back at the dressing rooms once more, her curiosity piqued. Professor K started the lesson, and Aboli was surprised to hear they'd be changing - did she want them to change COMPLETELY out of uniform? It would feel so odd to do so. She was also wracking her brains about what in the world this could have to do with Divination...clothing prophecies??? She couldn't remember anything about this, and her being stumped about something Divination related was certainly irritating. She was supposed to be the expert! With her mother being her mother and all... But she went to go eye the clothing, not feeling anything that was in there. She wanted something comfy and cozy, yet playful and chic. She settled with a white, oversized sweater and some maroon leathery pants. She would keep her clothes on, but she had even found a beret that was off-white and kinda cute sooOOoo there. She was dressed. |
It seemed that neither Fiona nor Morgan minded her being there so Claudine was by now, quite settled in. She wondered if anyone would take the remaining seat at the table and the question was soon answered. “Hi, you.’’ Heath was the only person Claudine greeted in that manner and he got a smile from her. Bustling to focus on something else, the girl began writing her name in small loopy letters on the parchment. When the lesson started, she abandoned her doodling to focus. The snaps, of course, were distracting for her. Did Kitridge’s family have to put up with that all through the holidays? Gosh. But did they have to play dress up today? Claudine was quite reluctant to do so and only waited until the majority of the class had had their chance before moving to the back of the room. When the Slytherin emerged from one of the dressing stations, she was clad in a knee- length beige skirt that wasn’t too tight and long sleeved yellow top with the image of a large bumblebee sewn onto it. The top was tucked into the skirt. She had quickly French braided her hair and it was held together at the bottom by a matching yellow ribbon tied into a bow. |
Wellp, this would be interesting. Bernie had no idea what clothes could do with Divination, but she went into the changing room when it was her turn and COMPLETELY changed her outfit. We're talking elbow-length gloves with black feathers on the end, a funky bubble skirt that also ended in feathers, a black button up, and ritzy, glitzy dangly earrings. She also slipped into some clear plasticy shoes thats she found that looked fun. "Taaaaa daaaaaaaa," Bernie muttered under her breath to herself, flouncing back to her seat. "What do you think, Blake," she teased her Slytherin friend by winking at him as she sat back down. "Like my get-up?" |
Mamie grinned when Violet moved to join the table with herself and Ashley. Three was much better company than two, plus if they had some sort of group work, the more brains the better! When the professor announced that they'd be trying on clothes, she furrowed her brow. What did this have to do with Divination? She wasn't sure, but went to dig through the clothes for something good anyway. There was...some cool olive green pants. Mamie grabbed those, and two options for up top--a black sweater and a pink floral blouse with puffy sleeves. When a dressing room was free, she went in and tried the pants and sweater on first. Hmmmm... Mamie fidgeted with the sweater. It was a liiiittle too thick, and a little scratchy. Not quite right. She switched to the blouse next. Hmmm she poked one of the puffy sleeves. Yes. This was perfect. It was a little bit too big, but the puffy sleeves provided both fashion and entertainment. If she ever got bored, she could just fidget the sleeves around! The pants were also a little too big, so Mamie came out of the dressing room and grabbed a brown belt. She put the sweater back, it hadn't felt right. Perfect. Mamie returned to her table in the puffy sleeve blouse and pants with the belt, and took a seat. She looked over at Ashley, who had already found her own outfit. "Ashley I like your outfit!" she complimented. "It looks very practical!" Mamie hoped they wouldn't have to do anything too strenuous with these outfits on. Her idea of the perfect outfit was more for show than utility. She adjusted her puffy sleeves and waited to see what was next. |

Been here all along Quote:
Getting up with a smile, and a new sense that she was actually in a class that didn’t make her feel like a total idiot or like she was being punished for simply existing, she went toward the clothes. She loved clothes, didn’t everyone in this school know? She was always looking fabulous when they didn’t have to be in their drab uniforms. Touching a purple shirt she shook her head. No purple wasn’t her best color. Scooting around to a table that was further away than most girls she found a lovely olive green bell sleeve top. Touching it she felt like it could be a good one. She grabbed it to look over the other tables for something to go with the top. |
Quote:
Within moments, she exited her dressing station and saw her friend in her new outfit. "Wow! You look great! I love how your bow matches your top." She then pointed to her outfit and asked Claudine, "Well, does this look okay?" |
Heath returned Fiona and Claudine’s smiles with a small one of his own - and a smile for Morgan too, because it would be weird to smile at everyone at the table but him! So should he say something else or…? He nervously ran a hand through his long dark hair. Sorry, everyone! He was trying, but he really was not good at small talk. Not that it mattered much anyway. Professor Kitridge began the lesson before he could think of anything to say. He listened intently, half-expecting the professor to start assigning roles for whatever play went with those costumes, but that didn’t happen. Blink, blink. Well, this lesson went in a completely different direction than expected! Heath wasn’t sure whether to be confused or intrigued. So they weren’t doing a play? Or maybe they weren’t just performing a play but writing one too? That would explain the lack of assigned roles if everyone got to pick their own character. Heath wasn’t willing to give up hope on a play just yet, so he was going to guess that’s what was happening unless he heard otherwise. Now there was just the question of what kind of character did he want to play? Heath perused the clothing options at the back of the room. Slurping sarlaccs, this was weird! He was no stranger to wearing costumes, but usually it was a matter of someone from wardrobe telling him, “you wear this outfit in that scene.” The only time he got to pick his own was on Halloween. He wasn’t sure exactly what he wanted, but he knew what he didn’t like - bright colors and loud, gaudy patterns that attracted too much attention. After some careful consideration, he chose a loose-fitting white button-down shirt, black pants, boots, and a long black coat. He finished off the outfit with a loosely knotted black tie and black hat. There - not boring, but not too showy either, and best of all, it was versatile enough to fit a variety of character types! He could play the romantic lead, the bad guy, the mysterious stranger… so many possibilities! Already getting into character, Heath returned to his seat. He doffed his hat to his tablemates, tucking it under one arm as he sat down. A gentleman should always remove his hat at the table, and besides, he wouldn’t want to block the view of anyone who happened to be sitting at a table behind him. |
Avalon smiled as Naya joined their table. A girl power table? Perfect for a class that involved fashion. Although she still found herself wondering why exactly they were playing dress up in Diviniation. As far as she was concerned, clothing didn't have much to do with telling the future or talking to spirits. Unless there was something she had glossed over in her textbooks. Nevertheless, she didn't mind. Avalon was happy to play with fashion any time of the day. She spent a few minutes flipping through the racks. Her eyes were immediately drawn to a pair of red velvet dress robes. They were absolutely stunning, but to pull them off, she would have to wear somthing plain underneath. Avalon tried on a pair of black pants with a black turtleneck. But something just wasn't right. The pants with the dress robes weren't looking great. Back to the racks it was. Next, she tried on a flowy yellow dress. It was a little too frilly for Avalon's tastes, though. Plus, no shoes looked good with it other than high heels, and she didn't feel like clacking around the classroom all day. Practical footwear was important. The Ravenclaw finally decided on a long, taupe-colored pleated skirt. Pairing it with a plain white sweater, she grabbed a maroon-colored hat to accessorize. Before heading back to her seat, she checked her reflection in the mirror a few times. Perfect. "Look at us! We look like fall!" Avalon said when she made it back to her table, gesturing to Aboli's maroon pants and her own maroon hat. "I like your beret! But I'm going to have major hat hair after this..." |
This was so exciting! Look at all the fun they were having. Cassie honestly wanted to jump in and play fashion show with them, but she reminded herself that she was the professor and she needed to stay where she was observing not participating, plus she could floo out and do a quick shopping trip later, if she found the time. "Wonderful outfits everyone." She was snapping for all the students and really enjoyed the ones that were trying on different outfits, twirling for others, and giving it a real go to find that perfect item. As she walked around she couldn't help but to pick up a shoe or a dress and just give it a look. Clothes were something she adored so it was hard not to be distracted by them. Hearing someone ask about keeping the outfits she gave a smile, "No, unfortunately we can't take these out of the classroom today." She might have borrowed some materials to make these items and then duplicate for different styles and colors so she'd have to return the items after class. "Use this time to show off your outfits everyone. Do a little walk if you'd like. Have fun with this." She pulled her wand and had a red carpet go across the middle of the room. She of course had to do this one so she walked down it like she was on the runway just to show the kids she could have fun too. "Who wants to be first?" "Now anyone that is already finished and has your outfit on I have a few questions I'd like to you use your parchment and answer for me." Waving her wand she put the new questions up on the board. Quote:
OOC: Keep having fun this with everyone! I love your responses so far. We will continue no in about 24 hours or so. Plenty of time to change outfits a few times if you'd like and dance the runway. |
"I'll go first." Ashley walked confidently down the carpet. Not quickly, but not slowly. This outfit was epic, and Ashley knew it. But she wasn't gonna prance around. She stood there at the end of the carpet for a second. Then she sat back down to do the work, which she supposed was a memory/critical thinking exercise. If wearing pants, which leg do you put in first? My left leg. Because I'm left-handed. Which will supposedly shorten my lifespan by several years. If wearing a dress or dress robes did you put it on wrong by mistake? N/A If you have a tie which hand do you use to loop it? N/A Are your shoelaces tied or untied? Tied If a button down shirt did you get all the buttons evenly? N/A Did you pick something to blend in or stand out? I didn't pick it for either. I just picked what I like. Done. |
Returning to the table with Mamie and Ashley Violet emerged from the fitting room quickly so others could use it, and then looked down at herself as she walked back to her table, to see what she had wound up with--light blue button-down shirt, navy A-line skirt, camel-colored jacket, argyle knee-socks, and brown suede Oxfords. Conservative and restrained, just the way she like it. As she approached her table, she looked at her classmates: Quote:

Playing catch-up :3 SPOILER!!: Before the Activity Started It took her a bit to find an outfit that felt HER, but Cecelia eventually emerged from the dressing room area in her TOP choice. It was comfortable, it was cute, it stood out. She was a fan, okay? "I'll walk the red carpet, Professor!" She was happy to do it! Grinning a bit, the fourth year did her best model walk down the runway, doing a little twirl at the end that sent her long hair fanning out around her. When she was done she headed back to her table, ready to answer the...sort of random questions being asked. She was sure they would say something about her as a person, but she didn't dare guess what as she filled them out. Quote:

Okay. Claudine felt weird as heck. Sure, she was comfortable in the clothes that she had chosen but she felt self conscious. As such, she bustled back to her seat and tried to look as though she had been there all along without moving to get changed. The Snakette did hate attention, you know. At least Fiona liked the outfit she had chosen. This pleased her. “Thanks. There’s just something about this bumblebee that I like.’’ Claudine looked over Fiona’s outfit then gave a nod of approval. “Very casual and chic,’’ came her compliment and immediately started giggling as her gaze shifted to the approaching Heath. Claudine thought he looked smart but had a shrewd thought that he might be pretending to be someone else like in his plays. “I like your manners, Sir.’’ The girl was referring to the hat removal. “Not too shabby on the outfit either. Who might you be?’’ The fourth year winced as the snapping began once more. Do a little walk? Yeah, no. She passed big time, no walking that red carpet. The activity now would have her attention so the girl copied the questions from the board onto her parchment. Quote:
What dumb questions. |
If Whitney were being honest, she wasn't quite a fan of wearing someone else's clothes. Nope, she had her own and wanted to wear those. But, she played along, wondering where exactly Professor Kitridge was going with this. She took her time looking through the clothes, finally settling on a simple T-shirt advertising something called "The Krusty Krab" (where did people come up with these names and did people actually eat at a place with such a name?), a pair of jeans and some cute lavender-colored sneakers whose color perfectly matched the sign on the shirt. Flopping back down in her seat and feeling both comfortable and uncomfortable (comfortable because this was something like she'd normally wear when not in uniform and uncomfortable because someone else's clothes), Whitney jotted down the questions and stared at them. Okay, lesson still not making sense. Quote:
|
SPOILER!!: Before the activity! Her attention turned towards the front when it became clear that it was time for the lesson to start. Kizzy hadn't formally decided whether or not she liked divination as a subject, but the prospect of playing dress up during class was enough to put a smile on her face. She paused for a moment, waiting for others to get up and move towards the back, before she rose to her feet and did the same. Some of the choices were really funky and despite wanting to try those on, she decided to go for something quieter. She grabbed a couple of options just in case before slipping into one of the changing rooms when it was her turn. Carefully (and making sure no one could see through the curtain!!!), she tried on the pieces she had selected before emerging from the dressing room wearing her outfit of choice. Though she liked watching everyone walk down the red carpet, Kiz chose not to and hurried back to her seat instead. The first thing she did was look at what everyone else was wearing. "I like the stripes, Cece!" She always looked nice in everything. Kinsay wasn't sure she could have pulled off such a bold combination. Then she began to fill out the parchment, eyeing each question with equal parts skepticism and curiosity. Quote:
|
Oh nowwww she rolled out the red carpet, after Bernie had already sat down! Seriously though, everyone looked so nice. Bernie especially liked Cece's outfit. She'd have to ask to borr-- wait, the clothes had to stay here?! No fair! Bernie wanted to keep the gloves at least, PLEASE!!! Maybe if she asked Kitridge nicely after class, she'd let her keep them? Bernie frowned and looked down at her parchment to work on her questions. Quote:
|
Fiona smiled brightly as Claudine complimented her outfit. "Aw, thank you." Noticing Heath, Fiona grinned at the young man's manners. "You look very debonair, Heath." When Professor Kitridge conjured up a red carpet for the fashion parade, Fiona refused. That just wasn't her thing so she returned to her desk and began to answer the questions that were now written on the board. She lightly drummed her fingers on her parchment as she thought about her answers. Quote:

Avalon was very much enjoying the fashion show. It was very exciting to see the outfits that her classmates were choosing. Because they had uniforms, she rarely got to see their personal styles shine through. She particularly appreciated Bernie's bold choice of outfit. The Gryffindor got an approving thumbs up. Of course, she couldn't pass up the chance of walking down the red carpet. Making her way across, Avalon stopped at the end to pose like a supermodel before starting on the written assignment. Classes should be this fun more often. Quote:

Valentina was very confused?? Were they playing dress up in divination? Uhh. Also, She wasn’t exactly keen on wearing used, sweat stained clothes. It was kind of gross, wasn’t it?? Aaaaaanyway, it wasn’t like she had a choice so she ended up going for a blue dress that had flowers printed on it. She felt rather pretty in it, admittedly. And it didn’t stink. Thankfully. .... OOOOOOOh. She watched the professor walk down the carpet, eyes wide! This looked like SO MUCH fun. “Me, ME!! I’ll do it!” She exclaimed as she walked over, instantly forgetting her earlier discomfort. The gryffindor danced her way down the carpet, showing off her moves (very ) proudly befooooore heading back to her seat. Okaaaaaaaay, none of these questions were making sense and so far, this class didn’t seem to be divination related at ALL. Oh, well. She started to write. Quote:

Heath had to bite his lip to stop himself from giggling the moment Claudine did. It was only then that he noticed her outfit. His heart fluttered, and he dropped his gaze so as not to stare at her like a lovesick idiot. They were in lessons, for Merlin’s sake! If he did, everyone in the room would guess his feelings and be able to use them against him. “Thank you,” he replied, smiling. “I like yours too.” He blinked, slightly caught off guard by the question. He had been so busy coming up with a costume that he hadn’t yet thought of a name for his character! He mentally ran through the list of fictional characters he knew that wore an outfit similar to his, but he knew she probably wouldn’t get any of those references. Asdfjkl! Now what? Stay in character, he reminded himself. Think on your feet! That’s what a good actor does… He decided to play the mysterious stranger angle. “That’s for me to know and you to find out in due time…” Fiona’s compliment also got a slight smile from him. “Thank you.” Was he supposed to compliment her back? Was it rude not to? Would Claudine be jealous if he did? “Your outfit is nice too.” Heath had barely spoken when Professor Kitridge moved things on. To his own surprise, he was a bit disappointed to hear they weren't allowed to keep their outfits. Darn! He rather liked the hat and the long coat, but never mind. He blinked, unsure what to make of the next set of instructions. He did not like the idea of walking that carpet! It seemed that that was just asking to be ridiculed by some of his classmates. The thought of all those eyes judging him, not as a character he played but as himself, had him internally panicking. Nope, he was an actor, not a model! Then that got him thinking. If he was going to have a career as an actor, he would need to get used to the red carpet. Taking a deep breath, he got up and put his hat back on before he could change his mind. Treat it like a curtain call, he thought. That was the only way he could get through it without feeling too self conscious. He walked purposefully down the carpet, pausing at the end to doff his hat and bow. Then he turned on his heel, his coat billowing behind him, and returned to his seat to answer the written questions: Quote:
