 Located not too far from the Muggle Studies classroom is where you can find a space dedicated to all things related to arts and crafts. In this classroom, students such as yourself will be exposed to famous historical and modern Muggle and Wizard artists and strengthen your artistic abilities. Here numerous styles and techniques will be observed, and an array of projects will be produced and put on display for all to see.
When you enter the art classroom, you quickly realize that it is not set up like others in the castle. There are no desks in the vibrantly coloured room covered with paintings and other gizmos and gadgets aplenty. In the centre is a large table that is meant to serve as a universal workstation. Scattered around the room are smaller, individualized tables, easels, and shelves containing a number of books and any supplies your creative mind may need. Tucked in the back is a dark room for developing photographs. Everything in this room is for you to use, so long as you clean up after yourself.

Bernie had some new color-changing wizard paints that she'd found in a cupboard in the common room and was now determined to test out here in the art room. Why the art room? Well, she was trying to learn how to charm household objects to do her bidding autonomously, and getting a paintbrush to paint by itself was just one of those things you had to practice.
And, uh, she'd been advised to not get any paint on the furniture up in the Gryffindor Common Room. So, she set a paintbrush in a bit of green paint, balanced it on the canvas with a muttered spell, and then stepped back, determined to direct the paintbrush's direction with her wand.

"I'm painting," Bernie answered in a matter-of-fact voice, not at all jumping. She totally jumped. For some reason, because she'd jumped, she'd also splattered green paint everywhere because the enchanted paintbrush had been startled moved in time with her.
But hey, that meant it worked. Bernie looked up from the canvas now to smile at Blake. "I haven't really tried it before, but I found these paints and it looked fun." She offered him a plain paintbrush. "Wanna join me? I'm trying to charm them to paint by themselves." She grabbed a bit of blue paint, dabbed another paintbrush in it, and then set about attempting to charm it to stand up on the canvas. And also to not run into the green brush.

Just standing there twirling the paintbrush around Blake felt like his tongue was tied, he wasn't sure what to say, and that was unlike him, at least around Bernadette. "So how was the rest of your summer? I feel like I haven't seen you since New York." He added, which maybe in passing around school for the last month or so, but they haven't really had much of a chance to hang out. I guess four year was a really busy time.

"You have to try to charm it to move on its own," Bernie explained to Blake not very patiently. "See, like this." She swished her wand at the blue paintbrush and then let go of it, stepping back to direct it with her wand instead of with her hand. SEE how it was moving, Blake, on its OWN? DID HE SEE IT NOW?
She bit her lip but kept her eyes on the brush and not on him. "Uh, yeah. It was fine." Bernie shrugged elusively. "My parents figured out I took off to New York, so they kinda grounded me for the rest of the summer." No biggie. She'd survived and made it to school on time and everything. It wasn't the first time she'd been grounded to her room, anyway, even if it had sucked the most this time.
"How was yours?"

Mamie had been feeling the urge to c r e a t e all week long, so once she felt caught up enough, she headed to the art classroom. Humming quietly to herself, she wandered around the room, gathering supplies like paint (obviously) and brushes and an empty cup and eventually a canvas, all of which she deposited at an easel in the back corner. She filled the empty cup with water (yay magic!) and swirled her wide paintbrush in the green paint.

She dipped a brush in some light gray paint and started dabbing some sheepy shapes on the bottom of the green section.
"You must come in here a lot, then," Mamie said thoughtfully, "If you make lots of things. Is that why you know where everything is?" Mamie certainly didn't know where everything was in this room. There were more supplies than even her old Muggle art classroom had. She knew were maybe...four categories of art supplies lived. Maybe she should start making more crafts, then she could make things for her friends, too. | |

Yes, there were going to be sheep. She dipped a brush in some light gray paint and started dabbing some sheepy shapes on the bottom of the green section.
"You must come in here a lot, then," Mamie said thoughtfully, "If you make lots of things. Is that why you know where everything is?" Mamie certainly didn't know where everything was in this room. There were more supplies than even her old Muggle art classroom had. She knew were maybe...four categories of art supplies lived. Maybe she should start making more crafts, then she could make things for her friends, too. Kinsay didn't find Mamie's artwork to be very convincing, but the other girl seemed to want to move on from speaking about it. Kiz could've continued for days on end, but she could tell the conversation was no longer welcome. Mhm. So good at recognizing things and taking hints. So smart. Probably thanks to her dad. He was good with people things.

Mamie dabbed more paint on her sheep, trying to equally divide her attention between Kinsay and the painting. It was hard to paint and listen, though, so after a few more sheep, she dunked the paintbrush in her cup of water so she could pay better attention to the other girl.
"Yes, I like exploring, too!" Mamie said brightly. "There-there's a garden on the grounds, with lots of butterflies there--well, when it's warm enough." She beamed, certain that Kinsay hadn't found this butterfly garden because, well, she had tried to go back and never found it again. "What's your favorite thing you found exploring?" | |

Even though the professors all seemed to think she was bad at staying focused, it was her super power.
"I know," the first year replied instinctively. It was a jerk reaction. Terminator had 'I'll be back'. Sherlock Holmes had 'Elementary, my dear Watson'. And Kinsay James? She had 'I know'. "It changes places." That's something Kiz was able to pick up on pretty quickly. Made for some very disappointing trips to the grounds. "I like finding creatures in the lake best. There's a giant squid named Bartholomew Henry." Not that she found too many creatures in there, but sometimes if she hovered her head over it, she could see tails underneath the water. Probably mermaids. Maybe a seaunicorn. Did those exist?
