Finneas could ... not recall what they were meant to be learning today in Muggle Studies, which was a huge problem because he was, you know, THE PROFESSOR!?! Fortunately, he had a back up plan and it came to him when he opened the back closet and a giant inflatable pool fell out from it. How convenient! Of course this meant he spent ALL day using the power of his weak LUNGS to inflate this giant, inflatable pool, but fortunately it was all blown up and ready to go for when you entered in the classroom.
That's right. An inflatable pool.
Finneas had managed to push all of the usual class furniture (desks & chairs) into his office so that when you walk into the classroom, you're met by the sight of a giant, inflatable pool that is almost the width of the entire room! How EXCITING? The pool only has enough water to go up to your ankles because no one would be drowning today, thank you! Your professor stands (barefoot) just inside of the door way, trying not to look like he spent the last 5 hours blowing air into a giant, inflatable pool and asking that you take off your shoes and socks and leave them lined up against the walls! Once you've done that, he invites you to step inside of the pool where you will wait for class to begin.
OOC: HELLO FRIENDS. welcome to our second MS lesson of the year OOC. students would have had plenty of classes with the Schmoe-guy already, but memory loss is a ~thing~ now so lol let's see how this goes??? while you're here, please take a look at the classroom rules. i'll post in about 20ish (give/take, probably give) hours to officially start the lesson.CLASS IS IN SESSION. Baby Shark?! DEAR MERLIN, help them all! Isla's little brother and sister had both listened to the song non-stop when they were little. Isla was pretty sure she might have done the same. The song was contagious, as in, once someone else started singing it, you couldn't help but sing along.
Isla tried to do her lunges to the beat of the song, but that wasn't exactly working out. Just as she had gotten in about five good lunges, they were moving on to arm circles. Isla splashed her way into a standing position then started in on the arm circles.
Then there were the questions. There were always the QUESTIONS. She doubted Schmoe was worried about hand raising during the arm circle exercises, so Isla skipped that little part. "I like group exercises, because it's more fun. I get kind of bored if I don't have anybody else around," she said. "Plus, it kind of keeps me on track. Some times I might feel like slacking off, but if there are others around, I'm more motivated." In other words, she can't cheat!
No one else was taking notes and Finn was internally bothered by it.
Sure, he wouldn't mind sharing his notes on what was accomplished in class today if anyone actually wanted them but........ why was he the only one? How else were the supposed to remember all the kinds of moves you could do for water aerobics? Wouldn't this be on the exam?
Cue the internal exam panic.
After jotting down a few more notes about what was being discussed and what moves were being displayed, Finn set his notebook down just outside of the pool so he could slip off his robes and roll up his pants. If lunges were happening, a soggy bottomed Finny wasn't. Lunges were completed, arms out at either side for balance, watching...... other students..... fall. This was not reassuring.
BUT!!!!

"Baaaaay-beeeeee... shark do do d'do d'do..." This was nice. He could do this part all day, Professor Schmoe! And maybe all of this distraction was making him forget about his note taking entirely. Okay. It definitely was.
"Um... Professor?" a hesitant hand went up. "Isn't it um... good to do group stuff so you don't drown? And um... I mean... for water aerobics in particular cause if you like um... get..... uh, tired? Or a cramp and you're in the middle of the water......." Yeah. Was that a complete answer? 'Cause y'know.... people had to look out for each other and always watch each other and... and.... bad things could happen otherwise. He would know.

Listen, Aboli was already tired. She also was annoyed at the bottom of her skirt getting damp from all the splish-splashing. So she was standing with her hands on her hips, just watching everyone. She snorted when Bernie started to sing what sounded like the WORST SONG EVER, and sloshed away from the Gryffindor.
Baby shark doo-doo is what that song sounded like.
She raised her hand at Schmoe's next question. "Group exercises probably helps your willingness to go on. Like, peer pressure to continue so you don't look like a complete wimp." She nodded. SHE didn't look like a wimp even though she had stopped exercising...she was just...doing her own cool thing yeah? And Aboli WAS walking around the pool so she wasn't just standing there like a limp noodle.

Nobody saw him slip and fall, right? Heath bowed his head so that his hair would hide the embarrassed flush rising to his cheeks. He glanced nervously around the room, half-expecting someone to taunt or laugh at him at any moment, but to his surprise and relief, that didn’t happen yet. Thank Merlin! The reaction, or more accurately the lack thereof, to his fall put him a bit more at ease. At least now he knew that he (probably) wouldn’t get bullied if he made another mistake.
Heath had just repositioned himself to do another lunge when Schmoe spoke again. They were doing arm circles now? Okay, that was fine, better than fine in fact. That was something he could do while standing in one place, so there was little chance of him falling and making an idiot of himself (again). Spreading out a little so as not to accidentally whack whoever was beside him, he did arm circles until the professor’s voice distracted him.
What were they talking about again? Something about advantages to water aerobics and group exercise… Did he hear that right? Heath could think of plenty of disadvantages to group exercises (less personal space, more people to notice if you make a mistake, etc.), but as far as advantages, he had nothing! At a loss for something to say, he listened to his classmates’ answers in hopes that would give him some ideas. One girl’s (Aboli) answer in particular caught his attention, but not in the way he’d expected. It was all he could do not to stare at her in confusion. How in the galaxy was that an advantage? If anything, it sounded like the exact opposite! Or that could backfire spectacularly and make people not want to try out fear of looking “like a complete wimp” if they mess up, he thought to himself, though he would never say such a thing out loud.
Okay, it was obvious that he would never think of an answer to the second question, so Heath focused his attention on the first part. After some careful thought, he raised his hand and said, “One advantage to water aerobics is that the water’s buoyancy reduces gravity’s impact on the body, so you’re only supporting about 20% of your body weight.” Or something like that. He didn't even know anymore! He was just trying to participate so he wouldn't get into trouble.

Claudine literally winced as Schmoe joined in singing that dumb song. He was even worse than Random girl. The Snakette continued doing the lunges, trying to ignore all the singing which sadly did not work. What were those sharks do-do-do-doing anyway? ;____;
Now she stood normally and immediately switched to the arm circles Valencia and Schmoe had demonstrated. Those were easy and not as demanding as lunges.
Abiola’s answer though. Claudine liked that very much and approved of it wholeheartedly. She noticed that many seemed to be going after the second question. Well, she’d go for the first. One hand went up. “An advantage is that it can help someone get over their fear of water if they ease into water-aerobics. In other words, taking it step by step.”
"It's easier on your joints." Blake added, being in the water made you lighter ... well sort of anyway and it was easier on your lower joints. "The water helps you float so it's easier on the joints." There that was a decent answer right?

Ewan was honestly glad that Schmoe hadn’t noticed he wasn’t singing because he did not want to sing it and really didn’t fancy being forced to in class either. Would he have been stubborn enough to get detention over it? Possibly but thankfully, he’d never have to find that out. Instead, all he had to do was put on his best fake smile and rotate his arms around in a circular motion. Thankfully, this was something he could do and honestly, didn’t mind doing. Exercise and stretches were exactly what he needed. Something to keep his mind busy.
As for the questions… “For me, group exercises keep me motivated. I love the competition. If there’s someone else who’s doing better than me, It makes me want to push harder and also, it gives you something to aim for”. For a Ravenclaw, he sure did sound like a Gryffindor but hey, he just loved a little good natured competition.
And going off Blake said, “When you’re in a full pool of water, it can really help rehabilitation for those who have injuries. Like Blake said, it’s easier on the joints and also, you can do it at any age” . He’d never personally had to rehabilitate as such but he’d heard good things.
After several rotations with his left arm, Ewan moved to his right, rotating it clockwise and then counter clockwise. Some of the pent up stress that had been building up over the last few weeks was slowly leaving his body and if it wasn’t clear in his posture, the prefect certainly looked happier as a small smile spread across his face.

Finneas felt a sense of kinship with Finnegan. Maybe it had to do with the fact that their names were so similar. Or maybe it had to do with the fact that Finneas saw his younger self within the boy. Hufflepuff hearts, amiright? AnYwAy. He was glad to see the young man taking part in the exercise.
"I..." That was an interesting take. Finneas ... nodded? "I've never thought of that before! But you're quite right." Probably.

Finneas hadn't noticed that Aboli had stopped. Not until she answered the question. "Errr... Yes. Do you... need step out for the loo?" Is that why she was walking around?

Finneas hadn't noticed. He was busy keeping the tune to the baby shark song and trying to take the lead on the arm circles. It was quite difficult to do all the things at once. He smiled as Heath took a go at the question. "YES! Doing aerobic exercise in water takes a lot of pressure off of muscles and joints for that reason exactly!"

Why were names escaping him?? It made calling on everyone very difficult. Likely the reason why he was breaking out into a sweat. "Nothing like the help of a group to help you ease into something scary!" Actually, doing scary things in front of a crowd felt like it would be MORE scary. Had he gotten this backwards?

Fortunately Schmoe wasn't fond of giving out detentions and most certainly would not do such a thing for refusal to sing in class. "You make two very important points." He smiled. Could always count on his prefects. They were a blessing in these times of strange storms. "Water aerobics really is a timeless activity! There aren't many sports like it!"

He looked around the pool to make sure he didn't miss anyone before clearing his throat. "Let's do something else! Watch me, just like this!" He jumped so that his feet were far apart, right in front and left behind. Then he jumped again to swap his legs so that the left foot was in front and the right foot behind. "While we do some of these..." What was this called again? The move? Errrr........ "Let us recap a little. Water supports the body, meaning there's less stress on your joints and muscles. This is something that err..... Ewan and.... Errr...... Some others brought up." Nice save. He would have to drop names all together, this was getting very silly. "Using the water resistance to an advantage can help build strength and errr the water can also help prevent overheating! It's chilly in here!" AnYwAy. There was...... more. He ....... couldn't remember.
Yikes.
"Keep at it everyone! I'm just errr... going to step out for a moment," he was stepping out of the pool not the room, for the record. He lifted one leg over the inflatable pool wall and then the-- "H A HA HA H A"!!!
Whoops. Nearly slipped! ... But he didn't!!!
He smiled awkwardly as he bumbled his way over to the whiteboard and-- oh, good. He had already written everything down excellent. Reaching down he picked up a COLORFUL BEACH BALL and lifted it over his head. "We'll be continuing with our aerobic exercises, feel free to errr... improvise some of your own moves here, but this time we'll be tossing around a beach ball to make things more interesting. When you catch the ball, you'll look to see which color your right thumb landed on and using the key on the board, you'll follow the instructions that correspond to your color." He threw the ball up and caught it himself to demonstrate. His right thumb was on RED. "Since my thumb landed on red... I will have to compliment a classmate on their form!... Er... Way to go Ewan, your arm circles were brilliant!" Ewan was one of the only names he could call to mind at the moment.
"Let's begin!"
And he LOBBED the ball into the pool. Who would catch it first!?

So many answers that were vastly different from hers. So many answers that she already forgot. Heck, now she forgot what response she had even given. Cue inward sigh. Would this whole memory thing ever be over? It seemed now they were off to practice a new move. Claudine watch Schmoe move then copied him. They were just going to keep doing these things until they all were as puckered as prunes. Maybe that's why Schmoe was escaping... and he almost broke his neck. Almost. Smooth save, Schmoe, smooth save.
The Slytherin paused to listen to the instructions. The ball she did not mind but the routine she kind of did. Merlin. May her thumb never touch the white! Looking up, her eyes followed the ball Schmoe had tossed. It was coming her way. Her hands were up even before she knew it and the ball settled comfortably in her hands.
Her thumb was on yellow. A glance at the board told her that she'd have to do ten jumping jacks. "Heads up,'' Claudine called and threw the ball. She was already doing the required jumping jacks while she watched to see who would catch the ball.
K raised an eyebrow slightly as Schmoe clearly forgot her name, but considering memory loss and the amount of students he had anyways, she wasn't too upset by it. Honestly, she didn't know half of the names of the people in the class either, so the fact the Professor's usually remembered everyone was quite impressive. She decided not to help him out and offer it, as honestly it would probably be forgotten again by the end of class because HOGWARTS.
Oh good! Moving on to the next move! But... Er... They were jumping to switch legs? Well, she certainly loathed the idea of all the splashes and considering how many people seemed to be falling already she was quite concerned by this move, but who was she to question authority? This class.
She started doing her weird leg switch jumps -- not at all sure what these were called -- when Professor Schmoe threw a beach ball into the fray with some instructions on how to proceed. She caught the ball, pausing momentarily in her exercise, and looked down to see her right thumb on white. Err, singing?!
She sighed softly, and considering she couldn't REMEMBER her favorite song, she jumped into another kid's tune which was the first thing to pop into her head. "Iiiif you're happy and you know it, clap your hands."
Good enough, right? She threw the ball on to the next person.

"CLAP CLAP!" Bernie went along with the Hufflepuff who'd caught the ball. Guess they weren't doing baby shark anymore, huh? That was fine, she was starting to feel like she couldn't even remember all the words to the simplest of songs, and it was making her feel a bit sad about it...
She caught the ball suddenly and looked to see her thumb pressing the Red section of the ball. OH! Compliment one of your classmates on their form!
"BLAAAAAAAAKE," she called out loudly, because he was one of the few names here she remembered. "NICE LEGS, I can tell you've done aerobics before!" At least once, right? That one time, by the lake?
Hehe. Bernie lobbed the ball into the air for whoever was next.

Was he talking about jump lunges? Either way, Ewan continued to copy the next set of actions seamlessly, his eyes only really focussing on something when Schmoe stepped out of the pool. Oh, instructions. Cool. Okay.
Even though he’d have no problem with this, he couldn’t help but smile a little at the idea of some of the other children trying to both stay steady in the pool and catch the ball at the same time. Oh the joys. Smiling a little, he read the different colours and instructions that were linked to each until Schmoe actually mentioned him. “Err….thanks Professor” . It was always nice to be complimented by a teacher but he’d always figured it would have been for something a little bit more…academic than his arm circles. Still, he appreciated the compliment all the same.
With a small smile, Ewan just watched as one after another, the other children in the class completed a variety of activities, from jumping jacks to er…singing? Great. Well, there was no way he was going to sing if his thumb landed on that one but thankfully, he had a one in six chance of that happening. He had to admit though, Bernie’s compliment to Blake did make him snort a little. Catching the ball next, he looked down and held his breath as…phew, his finger had landed on green. Honestly, he had no idea what green was but he knew it wasn’t singing. Rather than just do nothing though, he decided to simply pass the ball on and decided to do a few jumping jacks, just for the fun of it.
Um. No. She did not have to pee, thanks, Schmoe. She wondered why he thought that O__O But whatever. They were moving on and this actually seemed cool. She had lunged forward just a bit when she saw Schmoe about to fall, but luckily he caught himself. Oh good!
Aboli wasn't even sure what exercise they were on now, so she continued her wading, kind of doing a random jumping jack here and there. When Kimmie started the happy and you know it song, Aboli had to roll her eyes, but she DID clap her hands and wiggle her bum just a bit, nearly knocking into Claudine but she caught herself before doing so! She shot the Slytherin an apologetic grin before catching the ball from Ewan. ORANGE. Squinting at the board, she inwardly groaaaaaaned. She had to be MOTIVATIONAL. "Umm...UMMM....great job everyone! You all look........quite wet and.........active!" Not actual compliments, but she felt her stomach turning over having been the center of attention, so she quickly LOBBED THE BALL ACROSS FROM HER PROBABLY A LITTLE TOO HARD.
It was a true moment of sonder for her, really, as she watched her classmates flit about. To notice their differences, their mannerisms....how clumsy Schmoe could be, how irritating some of her classmates were to Aboli even if she LIKED them...it was a weird moment. Everyone had their own thoughts, feelings, and emotions about everything happening right now, and it made Aboli freeze for a second.
How odd.
Maybe she should be more introspective going forward. She wasn't even as annoyed at Kimmie's song choice anymore.

First she learns that she wasted her time studying for an imaginary test, and now they were doing physical exercises, ugh. She doubted that performing water aerobics would come up as the practical portion of the NEWT exam!
Jina forced a neutral expression on her face as she began doing the knee kicks. This whole group exercise thing was strangely familiar ... as if she had done it before, with Professor Schmoe and a bunch of other kids. She could not remember the details, but she thought the overall emotion she felt that day was annoyance. Or perhaps she was just hungry? Hmmm. Without paying too much attention, she found herself doing the kicks, lunges, arm circles and alternating jumps diligently (splish splash). She had to admit that exercising really helps to clear her mind. This wasn't as bad as she imagined it would be. They were also learning the science behind the exercise, which she thought was quite interesting.
Watching the beach ball being passed from one student to another, she half-hoped she would not catch it because what if she had to sing or do jumping jacks? but also hoped someone would pass it to her so she could join in the fun. She listened to Aboli's ... motivational words ... a bit strange but she appreciated the effort and noticed just in time that the ball was heading in her direction. "AGH!" she yelled as the ball SMACKED her in the face and landed in front of her. Oh, how could you fail to do this simple task? she thought to herself and blushed furiously. Her nose hurt a little bit, but the embarrassment was much greater than pain. She quickly picked the ball up so that her right thumb was on the green side and tossed it to the next person. "I'm fine! And it's green."

All Heath could do was stare, unsure what to think as Schmoe demonstrated the next exercise. Why did that jump remind him of something out of a lightsaber fight? Under different circumstances, he might have fun with this move, but with the water and without a plastic sword or lightsaber prop in his hand, it was just a disaster waiting to happen. Ugh, there was no way he could win, was there? If he did the jumps, he’d look silly; if he didn’t, he’d get into trouble. Inwardly groaning, he tried to copy the professor’s jump. The first time went alright, but when he tried alternating, he wobbled and fell sideways… again. Wow, what a shock! Who could ever have seen that coming? #sarcasm
Angry fire burned in Heath’s eyes as he got back to his feet, a silent warning for anyone who so much as thought about laughing at him. Well, at least this couldn’t get any worse… or not. His heart sank as he read the instructions on the board. Great, more silliness, Just what this class needs, he thought. Okay, now he was starting to feel a little betrayed. Did Schmoe have any idea how he felt about drawing attention to himself? Maybe he didn’t remember… or maybe he didn’t care.
Heath quickly forgot the events of the last few minutes, but the emotions remained. Feeling hurt and humiliated was bad enough, but not knowing why he felt he felt that way frustrated him even more! He had pretty much given up on trying to follow the exercise routine now. What move was he supposed to be doing? He couldn’t even remember anymore! Before he could figure it out, Jenny’s (or whatever her name was) yell distracted him, and he gave her a sympathetic look. He may not know why, but he did know how it felt to be embarrassed in front of everyone.
He caught the ball and looked down at the color under his right thumb. White. That meant… He looked at the board. Singing… of course, it had to land on the most humiliating option. Story of his life… Sure, he could technically sing, thanks to five years of voice lessons in preparation for a career in musical theater, but this was soooo different from singing onstage! For one thing, theater audiences typically paid money to get in, so there was little danger of them laughing at him. With this lot, it was anyone’s guess how they’d react! Then there was the problem of trying to sell a character without a costume and while looking like a drowned rat…
Heath wondered if anyone would notice if he moved his thumb to some other color instead. Better not chance it, he supposed. Now what was his favorite song? There were so many! If he had to do this, he was going to play it as safely as possible… something he could remember and sing well. He went with his go-to audition song (Waving Through a Window from Dear Evan Hansen):

So was he supposed to toss the ball before or after completing the action? It didn’t matter because he was holding on to it until he finished the song so he’d have something to look at to distract himself from his self-consciousness. When he was done, he tossed the ball in a random direction, not even looking up to see where it went, lest he meet any judging stares.

Isla did the whole 'left in front, right in front' thing, but she was doing it more so for the splashing around than for the exercising. They should just fill up the entire pool and take a swim! Anyway, the beach ball activity seemed like a nice alternative to swimming. I mean, she still preferred swimming to whatever this was they were doing. The beach ball was cool, though.

In a moment of distraction, Isla nearly got hit in the head by the beach ball, but she managed to catch it before it wandered off to somebody else. She looked down at her right thumb. BLUE. Ahem. NEW MOVE TIME.
"Alright, this is a move I learned when I took dance classes before coming to Hogwarts," she said. Bending halfway down to gain a little momentum, Isla sprung out of the water and extended both legs into a straddle toe touch. Her legs didn't quite go as far out as they used to. That might be the water's fault, or it might be because she hadn't practiced in a good two years.

Advantages of water aerobics in a group? As Aboli ?or someone??? said, group exercises were more motivational. She knew when she trained for quidditch with her team there was that competitive drive that caused her to train harder. Whereas running individually, while she was fully capable to do so, she wasn't as motivated to run faster unless she had someone she was racing against. Accountability was a thing.
And apparently they were going to be playing with a beach ball right now. Wait, what did the colors mean again? Oh they were on the board, okay good because Carsyn wasn't sure that she could remember what color corresponded to what activity. She was watching and just sort of moving along and concentrating on not lifting her knees up too high to flash her classmates, when Isla introduced a new move. Uh no thanks. Maybe if she was wearing shorts, but yea no. Fortunately the beach ball was tossed her in her direction just then when she caught it and glanced down at her thumb. Blue, which meant no to the toe touches and splits. Thank Merlin.
"Okay um... clap your hands above your head. Like this." Good arm workout. Mmhm. Oh and ball toss too.

Naya was rather enjoying the water exercises. She kept moving as she heard the professor ask another question. Many answers had been given about the benefits of water aerobics so she decided to tackle the second question. ”Exercising in a group helps keep you honest. You may not feel like working out on a particular day or you may feel like slacking off on your exercises. Your group mates won’t let you get away with slacking. They will keep you going.” Also, if you exercised in a group, the focus wasn’t totally on you. That could definitely be a plus for some people.
Now it was time to move on. The professor had come up with a fun activity. They got to toss around a beach ball, but with a twist. Naya listened to the rules of the game. There were some colors she wouldn’t mind getting and others that she hoped to avoid. Only time would tell. Continuing to exercise in the water, she waited for her turn. As her classmates gave their instructions, she did Isla’s straddle jump and clapped her hands above her head as Carsyn said. When the ball came to her, Naya caught it and looked down at her right thumb. Yellow. She could deal with that. Since the ball would be in her way, Naya tossed it to the next person. Then she started to do her jumping jacks, counting 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10. Done.

This was pretty much the best class Morgan had all year. Of course he didn't exactly remember much about what else he'd been doing in classes all year, but all he knew was that he was splashing around in a swimming pool in the middle of class. And how cool was that??
The only thing cooler might be if there was more water in the pool and they could actually swim, but he wasn't complaining! Especially now that it was game time! He didn't know that Ravenclaw kid's song so he couldn't sing along, but he did a good job and Morgan gave him a thumbs up. He was really eager to catch that ball, but it was Isla's turn next.
"Woah." Morgan wasn't sure he could do a jump like that, but he sure was gonna try! He jumped up and tried to swing out his legs like Isla did, but he didn't quite make it and he lost his balance in the process, causing him to land in the water on his bum with a big SPLASH. Oops.
He wasn't too bothered by it though and even laughed a little to himself as he got back up Morgan had missed Carsyn's move in the process but he was ready to catch the ball next! "My turn!" he called out, his hands outstretched and it soon came sailing his way.
He looked down at where his thumb had landed, then looked up at the board. Oh... green was too boring. Very stealthily he inched his thumb towards blue. "Okay, chicken dance, everyone! Ready? Like this!" Morgan demonstrated for anyone who did not know that party classic. First he opened and closed his hands like they were chicken beaks, then stuck his thumbs in his arm pits to flap his arms like wings, shimmied down towards the water, then clapped his hands three times.
And then ball toss to someone else.

Finneas wanted to cheer everyone on, but not a single name stuck out to him. Names were not usually this hard. Next lesson would involve name tags. The moment he registered this thought, he knew he needed to write it down (lest he forget it). Except instead of writing the thought down he was currently clapping his hands because FINNEAS WAS HAPPY AND HE KNEW IT.
Aside from the lack of name knowledge, things seemed to be going… decently. Until Nina… Jina? Nina? Was hit in the face. Good thing it was just a beach ball and not something else, huh? He was about to holler to see if she was A-OKAY, but her words were confirmation of that so WOO. ”Walk it off, Mr….. Cliff! You’re doing fine!” Cliff? Was his name Cliff? Somethingcliff? "TEN MORE MINUTES, EVERYONE!"
Speaking of which, Finneas was making his way into the pool again because he wanted to be part of the fUN.
Only just as he made it into the pool, Mr. McCarthy made his jump and landed on his bum so hard that Finneas felt the shake and landed right on his own bum with a great …

Honestly, she didn't MEAN to, but K couldn't HELP but chuckle at Aboli's pep talk for the class. She wasn't wrong, particularly about the WET considering how many people had slipped and slided this class. She wondered how many bruised tailbones would be a result of this? They'd probably all forget why there were sore to begin with. Hm. Anyways, she was glad her song had been finished, and she was very THANKFUL to the people that spared her and participated even though they might not all actually be happy.
And then Heath was SINGING and it was AMAZING. K beamed at him, sorry that they were so far apart and she couldn't tell him how spectacular that was. Hopefully she'd remember so she could tell him so later, but honestly, she'd probably forget. So she shot a discreet thumbs up, but wasn't sure he'd see it since it appeared he was avoiding looking at people.
Now! More moves! A younger Slytherin suggested straddle toe touches, and K BEAMED as she quite enjoyed doing those. And even though the Gryffindor Prefect, Carys (or was that the Hufflepuff?), Changed the move quite quickly, Kimmie still went ahead and did one for fun. She always wore spandex shorts under her skirts because it was just a smart idea.
And then she did the clapping above her hands, just kind of shaking her legs as she did so to keep the blood flowing. It really was too bad they didn't have a muggle speaker for some sound, but she would NOT be subjecting them to more of her terrible voice. Maybe Heath could be convinced? Oh, chicken dance time! Kimmie laughed before moving on to do the motions for that as well. Not quite an exercise, but it was good fun.
Oof. Class was almost over. And for the first time she was SAD. She caught the ball again, pouting at the Green meaning she didn't get to do anything, before throwing it along to someone else. Watching Professor Schmoe go down too, what was he number 8? 10? She blinked slightly before calling out. "You okay, Professor? Do you need any help?"

As Heath nervously peered out from behind the veil of his dark hair, he saw Kimmie beaming at him from across the room… or at least he thought it was at him. He gave her a look that said, who, me? Was he really that good? He returned her thumbs-up with a smile, not his usual slight one but a real one that lit up his eyes, one that very few people ever saw. His actor side took over, and he gave her an exaggerated bow.
He had been too distracted to join in the straddle toe touches, so he followed along with the Gryffindor prefect’s clapping, This was… surprisingly not terrible once he stopped worrying about what others might think of him. The chicken dance, though? Really? What were they, four years old? That dance was a little too far outside his comfort zone for now. Baby steps, and speaking of steps…
Heath heard Schmoe tell somebody to walk it off, but who the heck was Cliff? Hmm, must’ve been a misnaming of some kid with a C name or - Waaaaait a minute! Cliff, as in Heathcliff. How did it take him so long to realize Schmoe was talking to him? So should he correct him or-? He nodded, falling in step with that ridiculous chicken dance, but before he could say anything to the professor, he fell. So were they done with the chicken dance now? Heath wished the ball would come to him again; he had a much better idea for a move! As if on cue, the ball sailed toward him, and he caught it with both hands. He looked at the color: blue. Yes! Time for the #BenSoloChallenge!
”Erm, okay…” he began, looking around to see if anyone would actually follow him. “Reach behind your right shoulder like this; then slowly move your arm up and out like you’re pulling an imaginary lights- object out from behind you. Once you have both arms at your sides, give a little shrug…” He demonstrated the moves while holding the ball, though it would’ve looked a lot better with an actual prop. Oh, he just thought of something else! “If you’d like a little added dramatic effect, bring your right arm back up to about eye level, then down in a slashing motion…”
After he finished the demonstration, he spun around dramatically and tossed the ball again.

This was somewhat chaotic, wasn’t it? There was so much happening almost at once. Claudine tried to keep up with the movements that some of the others demonstrated but sometimes she was terrible and got everything mixed up. Morgan’s chicken dance was easy for her to follow but prim and proper Bellchant’s was an impossible task. Yeah, no thanks. Claudine wasn’t about to embarrass herself with that.
And when the ball came at her again, her thumb rested on red.
Ugh.
Great, something she wasn't alway the best at. Who to compliment? As the ball was tossed away, Claudine quickly scanned the pool. “You,’’ she said pointing to Heath but forgetting his name still. “Uh, you’ve maintained excellent posture throughout this lesson.’’ Not that she had been eyeing him all the while or anything.

While the ball was being passed around, Naya tried to keep up with the exercises that her classmates were demonstrating. They were really getting a good workout today. She was going to be soaked by the time the class was over, with all of the splashing that was going on.
The ball came Naya’s way again and she caught it. Checking her thumb, she saw that it had landed on blue this time. It was her turn to lead the group. Trying to come up with a good exercise, Naya suddenly had an idea. She threw the ball to the next person and then gave her instructions. “Ok everyone, we’re going to do 10 high kicks. Start with your left leg and switch legs on every kick. Here we go.” Naya began to do her kicks, trying to make each kick higher than the one before. ”1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10”, she counted aloud as she went through the movements. This was fun. Was everybody having fun with her exercise? Probably not. Oh well.

As the person who chose to involve a giant, inflatable pool for the lesson... Finneas perhaps ought to have been slightly more prepared for getting... as soggy as he did. His trousers were not very happy. He was ecstatic though, so it wasn't all a loss. "Thank you, Ms..." Errrr...... "Amsterdam! I'm A-OKAY!" He gave the Hufflepuff two thumbs up before struggling to stand and find his balance.
Joining in for the last set of moves that another student (Naya) was presenting, Finneas kicked one leg up and then the other. He also quickly glanced at his watch, noting that they were just at time to end. As the kicking began to wind down, he made his way out of the pool and went to grab the stack of towels he had in the corner. "ERrr... Thank you all for joining today, that's about it for the lesson! Grab a towel to dry off and err.... I'll.... Have homework and notes from the lesson posted on the bulletin board later today." Because he could not remember what he had planned for them.
Yup.
And with that, he moved back towards the pool so that he could hand everyone a towel on their way out.
