It was bright and early on this crisp fall morning, and Gabi was eager to get started. She had been thinking up this assignment all summer long and was eager to finally introduce it to her students - and she couldn't WAIT to see what they all came up with! She was standing in her usual spot - propped up against the edge of her desk, waiting for all the students to arrive. There was something different about the History of Magic professor today, though. What was it? Oh! She wasn't wearing lipstick. Odd style choice, since she never went a day without it. Or maybe she forgot?

"Come on in, everyone!" Gabi said with a smile as the students started to trickle in. Someone definitely had their coffee this morning. "We will get started here shortly," she added. She didn't plan on keeping them here long - she wanted them to get their assignments and then head out, so they could start brainstorming!

Of course Catherine let most other students go first to get a piece of cardboard. She waited, putting her things away, every-so-slightly annoyed at the fact she had set up her workstation very neatly only to be told they weren't really going to have anything to do there that day except get a photo of Mr Scamander.

After many of her classmates got up to stand in the queue, Catherine joined the back of it and waited until it was her turn to collect a piece of cardboard. She borrowed a camera too and studied the cutout on the way back to her desk, focusing mainly on Mr Scamander's face. He wasn't ugly, but she didn't quite understand why he was pulling that face. What was his reason for looking (Hufflepuff) intense? Catherine found it almost unsettling the fact the man seemed to be looking right at her, as if he could read her - if he weren't a piece of cardboard, of course.

Back at her desk, she got her quill and ink and wrote her name on the back of her picture of Mr Scamander. This assignment was going to be good. The second-year was already excited to start, not only because she would get to produce some nice visual art, even if only in photograph form, but she was also expected to come up with stories, and that was always fun. And be marked for doing all that? Even better!
