For those who belong in Gryffindor House, on the left side of the Great Hall is where your table awaits. Red banners containing an embroidered golden lion float above the polished table in honour of the brave Godric Gryffindor. Already placed on the tables are silver plates with accompanying cutlery and goblets. All that is missing right now are the mountains of food and pitchers containing your favourite beverages.
Though your stomach might be growing as you take a seat on one of the long benches next to the table, it is important to not get hangry -- gnawing your arm away or jabbing your fork repeatedly on the surface of the table will do no good whatsoever. Give everyone some time to get settled in and wait for Headmaster Trent to deliver his speech. Keep yourself preoccupied by catching up with your fellow housemates or those who are visiting from the other tables until it is time to sink your teeth into the hearty and delicious meal prepared by the house-elves.

Naya entered the Great Hall and exhaled deeply. It was a new term and she meant to start it off right. Surprised at the near emptiness of the room, she made her way toward her house table. No one was there yet. That was ok, she supposed. She had her choice of seats.
Choosing a spot near the center of the table, Naya sat down. She had a good view of the room and decided that was the best place to observe the goings on at the Feast. The sixth year was hoping for a drama free year. Considering the fact that they rarely made it through the feast without drama, her desired outcome was very unlikely. With her elbow on the table and her head resting in her hand, she waited. Let the term begin.

Tom walked into the Great Hall, here it was, time for another opening ceremony, He couldn't wait to see who would join Gryffindor. He had been so excited last year when it was his turn to get sorted and he was amazed to have been put in Gryffindor, he had been expecting a different house, but it was cool.
Tom looked around the table and smiled and waved at the girl that was already at the table, he had met her last year in a lesson. He then went and sat down and waited to see what was going to happen next.
Naya entered the Great Hall and exhaled deeply. It was a new term and she meant to start it off right. Surprised at the near emptiness of the room, she made her way toward her house table. No one was there yet. That was ok, she supposed. She had her choice of seats.

So, apparently he was a Gryffindor which Drew through was totally appropriate for him. The house was represented by the Lion and he knew that in the muggle world the lion was the king of the jungle and he definitely thought of himself as King.
He entered the Great Hall and was mildly impressed by the grandeur of it. He did however think that Beaubaxtons was a lot more splendid but he was here at Hogwarts and had one year of school left so he might as well make the most of it. Drew walked over to what he assumed was the Gryffindor table since it had red and gold banners with a lion emblazoned it hanging over the table.
The first thing he noticed when he got to the table was a VERY attractive girl sitting in the centre and what was even better was she looked to be about his age. Drew made sure to sit opposite her, at least he would have something nice to look at during the feast. "Hello." He said, flashing the girl a smile. "I'm Drew." No point in wasting time getting to know people.
The train ride hadn’t turned out the way Cole had wanted. Firstly because Lucas didn’t help him with his love conundrum and secondly because Belle had joined them and effectively put a stop to the topic. He didn’t talk about love and crushing on certain someone's so that she could gossip her heart’s out about it to everyone at the feast. Nope. Cole had pride. Coming into the Great Hall with his gryffindor robes on, his eyes fluttered up to the staff table noting some new unfamiliar faces.
Turning his attention to the Gryffindor table he saw that a new guy was sitting opposite Naya and was he flirting with her? Feeling a surge of immediate anger which was unusual for him and not something he wanted to look closer at Cole strode over. Smiling warmly at Naya he said "Hey Naya, I didn’t see you on the train. Did you have a good rest of the summer?" Slipping down into the empty seat on Naya’s left he turned his attention to the newcomer (Drew). "Hi I’m Cole. Who are you?" Pulling a wrapped candy out of his robe pocket he asked as he held it out. "Would you care for a welcome to Gryffindor candy treat?"

Stalking in from the entrance hall at a fast clip, school robes billowing dramatically, Bernie slid onto the bench beside Cole and immediately put her arms and head down on the table.
She needed a minute, okay? It was hard to be reminded again and again that one no longer had a best friend. And it was also exhausting to be THISCLOSE to expulsion all the time always.

Naya didn’t have to wait long because the next lion to arrive was her former partner from class last term. Returning the younger boy’s wave, she said, “Hi Tom.“How’s it going? Did you have a nice summer?” She was really happy to see all of her housemates again.
Then there was a face that Naya hadn’t seen before. The first newbie of the term? As the new Gryffindor sat across from Naya, she noticed that he seemed to be about her age. Sixth year? Seventh year? Only one way to find out. ”Hi Drew, Naya said, in reply to his greeting. “I’m Naya. You’re new......welcome to Gryffindor. What year is this for you? It’s my sixth, but only my third year at Hogwarts.” Too much information right off the bat? Naya was just trying to make the point that she knew what it was like to be the new kid. “Where did you go to school before?”
And then.......Cole arrived. “Hey yourself”, she said, giving him a shoulder bump and a big smile. ”I was wondering when you would get here. My summer was fine. Not much happened since I saw you. How was the end of your summer” Naya wasn’t exactly ready for summer to be over, but she was glad to be back with her........friends.
Looking up, she noticed that Bernie had joined the group. “Hi Bern......” Oh ok. Naya wondered what was up with her housemate. She clearly was not herself. She decided not to press......yet. She would definitely have to check on Bernie in a minute.

What an interesting train ride .... it was weird though, sixth year. When did that even happen? Ensuring the first years all found their way to their boats okay, Carsyn had caught a ride on one of the last carriages to the castle, unbothered really who she was in a carriage with. She had other things on her mind although she wouldn't have objected if Hero or Jude or Orion were in that carriage. But more pressing was where was Elias? She hadn't seen him and she was worried somehow that he had decided after all to transfer for his final year despite her encouraging him not to....
Smiles though. Confidence. A smile at Naya and Cole and Tom and new older guy who she didn't recognize but he was about her age, she reckoned... dormmate of Lucas or Elias, she'd bet on ... though he could have been a fifth year too. Who knew? But her attention and walk was purposeful and direct as she plopped down right next to a particular third year, who had requested her guidance at end of last year. Truth be told, if she wanted responsible guidance, Lucas was definitely the better alternative, but she'd come a decent ways thanks to Sandhu and was determined to continue her progress. Hopefully whoever took over Sandhu as their head of house would be just as ... diplomatic, which had Carsyn briefly scan the professor's tables to see who might be looking more at the Gryffindors than others. Only one was the headmaster, but headmasters were never heads of houses.... right???

"The answer is yes, Bernedette," She said simply, since she never officially answered her, figuring the summer would have bought them time to consider this. "First step, put head up and smile. No one suspects anything if you look positive." But well, there was more to a smile, because it had to appear genuine... as then then it would all be for nothing.

This year was going to be EPIC as far as Cecelia Summers was concerned. She was a TEENAGER now, which meant she was SUPER mature and ready for things like flavored lip gloss and shampoo that made your hair all glossy. She was pretty sure she was even going to be able to get a tattoo pretty soon! That's how being a teenager worked, obviously. Something ELSE that rocked was that her mum's FAVORITE professor was here and teaching at Hogwarts again! The guy was pretty ancient as far as Cece was concerned, having taught her MUM and all, but he knew LOADS about creatures and she was excited to learn from him! Finally there was the fact that being a third year meant you got RESPECT, at least as far as she was concerned. She was like SUPER knowledgeable about Hogwarts now and that meant she could help out the younger, less informed kids and guide them around. Natural born leader over here, folks! She hoped the professors were taking note!
"Hey guys! Good to be back, isn't it?" The blonde was cheerful as she found herself an empty seat at the house table, eyes bright and her smile growing as she looked around. It DID worry her a bit that Bernie looked bummed out, but she figured the girl didn't want her pointing out that she looked that way on account of that might draw some unwanted attention to her.
...Being thirteen meant you were EXCELLENT at decision making, too!
Once again, summer had been all too short and Józef found himself striding into the Great Hall far sooner than he would have liked. With a glance at the other tables, he let his feet naturally lead him to the Gryffindor domain, grinning at those gathered there already.
"Evening," he greeted the group at large, offering (what he thought was) a particularly charming smile to the girls from his own year. "Looking good, Naya, Carsyn." Sliding into a seat next to Tom, he raised an eyebrow in Bernedette's direction and opened his mouth as if to question it, before changing his mind and shaking his head.
Instead, he turned to Cole, Tom and the new boy (Drew). "Good summer, lads... and new lad?"

Sighing to herself, Stella walked over towards the Gryffindor table, she wasn't her cheery self as she always was. Flopping down in the nearest place she could find, she waited to see what house her twin was going to be sorted into. "Hello all." she said eyeing the entrance to the Great Hall. All she wanted was Lyra to join her and be happy, it wasn't a good summer for her.
Although smiling at everyone, she waved at them. "Hope everyone had a good summer, ready for another exciting year?" she asked. Looking around she bit her lip, it was weird not seeing Rylee here, alot of her friends were gone it made her sad. It was hard to believe that coming next year at this time she'll be a seventh year, she didn't want to think about it but here she was doing so.

Thank you to everyone who did not pay attention to her, thank you all very much. Bernadette was indeed trying to lay low; in this case, by literally laying on the table. She kept her head slumped until her eyes felt dry, which actually took a little while as the words 'I cannot believe I considered you of all people my best friend. I don’t need you, Bernadette Grantham,’ kept replaying in her head. It was torture!!!!!

Thankfully, there was hope. Letting out one more small sniffle, the lioness raised her head just enough to peek at her prefect, Carsyn Rose. Sniff sniff. What was the yes for, huh?
OH!
Her mentor, her new mentor that was going to permanently keep her out of trouble??? Bernie was cheered immensely by this prospective arrangement. She followed the directions: first step, put head up and smile. Bernie's smile was directed toward the older boy across from her, Józef. She felt bad for grinning at him like a loopy Azkaban escapee, but there it was. A smile. With pointy teeth and everything.
"What's step two?" This question was for Carsyn, because Bernie's face was hurting already from all this forced smiling. And also, did Carsyn know who their new HoH was? Because Bernie really needed someone on her side this term. Like, someone who could intervene with the Headmaster on her behalf, thanks.

Lucas had completely missed feelings about being back here again. Sure, he missed the castle and the enchanted ceiling and everything else, but it also hadn't felt like it was that long ago since he was last here. And then there was the small factor about his Defence grade. How was he supposed to face Trent now????? What was he meant to sAY?!
Ugggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh!
With his badge pinned to his chest, the sixth year tried his hardest NOT to look at the staff table - no offence, Trent - and, instead, made his way over towards the Gryffindor table. Might as well find a seat, right? He didn't want to miss any of the Sorting Ceremony, not when he had to see where Art got himself sorted into. He couldn't help but hope for another Gryffindor sorting, mostly because it would make it much easier for him to check in on Art, if he wanted to.
But the Gryffindor table? Yeah...... it didn't take long for him to notice how packed the table already was. Was he really this late? Or was this normal when people were really hungry for dinner? He didn't know. He also didn't know who some of the new faces were so he smiled awkwardly and continued walking towards a spot he was sure to be a lot more comfortable in.
On his way, his eyes landed on Naya and Cole and he gave them a slightly wider smile. "Hey, you two! Had a good summer?" Normal. He could be completely normal. There was no need to bring up any weird conversations that had happened on the train, right? Of course not!
It was then that his green eyes landed on someone (Drew) who looked........ new? Lucas bit down on his lip, knowing fully well where this was leading. This was probably what he should've prepared himself for. Or should've expected. Or. "Uh, I, hey!" he said, "I-uh-, welcome to Gryffindor."
This was......... so awkward.
Trying not to blush - or look like he was blushing - the sixth year hurried over towards the closest comfortable seat he could find. Which just so happened to be on the other side of his dormmate. "Hey, Jó! Had a good summer?" Fun? Boring? Please distract him. Please! "Hey, Stella, Carsyn, Cece, and Ber-"
.............. Uhhhhhhhhh........
Was Bernadette okay? Because this was not like her at all.
As Stella joined the table, Józef couldn't help but follow her gaze, trained as it was on the sorting. "You looking out for someone, Stel?" he couldn't help but inquire, being the nosy parker he was. He knew that Lyra had mentioned the craziness at Hogwarts was off putting, but he did wonder whether something had changed her mind.
And then he remembered that he wasn't snogging anyone other than Willa now, so he focused his attention on answering his friends question. "Depends on your definition of exciting. Although I'm looking forward to not having such important exams." Yes, it was definitely a relief to have a year off from the pressure that had faced them in fifth, and that would come around (no doubt tenfold) this time next year. Not that Jó had openly admited to the pressure, of course - he had to maintain the cool facade.
There were eyes on him. He could feel them, and so he turned to see who was looking at him. Seeing Bernedette with her head off the table was almost reassuring, until he saw that... Was it a grin? It looked like a grin, even if she did look terribly mad. "You know," he said, leaning forward across the table, "If the wind changes, you'll stick like that."
"LU!" The arrival of Lucas Dakest was very much appreciated. Jó tweaked his best friends Prefect badge a little, a teasing gesture, before putting his arm around the other boys shoulders. "Any chance of you giving me the bathroom password this year?"

Islay had been quiet when she first made her way over to the Gryffindor table that night. The brunette still felt bad over whole book lobbing incident on the train. Scanning the table she finally settled into a spot across from Cole and Bernadette. Looking over at the tall new guy Islay just smiled.
Glancing around Islay just sent smiles to everyone as they came to the table. ”thank you Stella,…did you have a nice summer?” he asked her year mate with a kind smile. Ooooooh this was interesting – islay wanted to hear how Lucas would respond to being asked so openly for the password.

Charlie had enjoyed the train ride as much as one could for being trapped in tight quarters with the entire school. She was once again back in her drab school robes. Why couldn’t they wear cute clothes like what she wore onto the train before changing. After catching a carriage with people she had seen around but not necessarily gotten close to she walked into the great hall.
The room was always expansive and was super impressive when everyone was in there all at once, formally dressed, all eyes on the first years. Wow she was a first year just last term and had been scared to death when she walked in all eyes on her. She was glad she had her own table to walk straight over to this time.
Taking notice of Cece she moved closer to her and sat down. “Care if I sit beside you?” She really hoped she wouldn’t say no because she did not want to be the lonely girl. She had been a bit closed off last term. Maybe a bit too sassy to get too close to people, but Cece had always been super kind to her even though her cousin wasn’t always the sweetest piece of pie.
Her eyes traines on the entrance to the Great Hall, she snapped out of it hearing Lucas say hello to her. "Hey Lucas, did you have a nice summer?" she asked him curiously about her lion buddy. Looking at Józef she nodded. "Yeah... I'm waiting to see what house Lyra ends up in, she transferred from Ilvermorny. "
Stella laughed and nodded. "That's for sure, I'm glad we don't have to worry about any hardcore studying or anything, we can take it easy and have fun!" she said happily. Although she had six O's out of the eight, she was quite proud of herself. Although she studied her butt off last year to get those grades, she was glad to have a break and worry about nothing but homework now. It was a relief, and she wondered if anyone ever had to repeat a year because they failed, she was curious though.
Seeing Islay she turned and smiled at her dormie and closes friends. "Islay hey, glad to see your summer went great, mine wasn't too bad." Although she'll tell her more in depth about it when they get in their dorms.

The girl was definitely a talker and quite inquisitive as well. She was firing questions at him like sparks out of a firecracker. But she was SO pretty and she had a pretty name to match her pretty face. "Nice to meet you Naya."
Looks like transferring to Hogwarts was not going to be so bad after all. "I'm a seventh year." Drew gave her one of his most charming smiles, the one most girls could not resist. "I went to Ilvermorny and Beaubax…" But he trailed off as a boy about his age sat down beside Naya and the way they were interacting with each other it was obvious that they were boyfriend and girlfriend. Why were all the good ones taken?
Drew nodded his head towards the boy and tried to offer him a smile but it came out looking more like a grimace. "Nice to meet you Cole." Even though it really wasn't. "The name's Drew." He looked down at he offered sweet and took it from the guy. "Thanks, I'll save it for later." He said, as he placed it into the pockets of his robe. He hated junk food but he didn't want to appear rude not on his first night at a new school. There was plenty of time for that.
"Sooo…" He had nothing really. This had become awkward now.
SPOILER!!: Józef

And then there was another guy standing there and the first thing that Drew noticed was the shiny badge pinned to his chest and it had a P on it. So this was Gryffindor's Prefect? The boy began to speak and Drew found his mouth dropping open slightly.
THIS WAS GRYFFINDOR'S PREFECT?
The guy couldn't string two words together. He was definitely missing Beaubaxtons now. Before he could get a word of his own out the Prefect had scampered away. Well he had been warned that this place was weird.
Drew shook his head and chuckled quietly to himself before his attention was diverted by a familiar looking person. It was mustache girl Bernie from Diagon Alley and she seemed to be having some sort of melt down. Yeah Drew was staying out of that. Besides an older girl Carsyn was now consoling her and she was rather good looking too. Hmm maybe he should go over there...
His attention however was diverted by the arrivals of some more girls Stella, Cecilia, Islay and Charlie and Drew immediately fixed his eyes on the older ones. Well if Hogwarts had one thing going for it, it was all the good looking females.

So there was a minor thing that played in Curtis head after he agreed to deliver this message. He was delivering it to one of the girls that somehow caused two of the dogs to be killed last year. Pretty morbid. He felt bad for those dogs and all when it happened, especially since he played with them when he was younger before Hogwarts. But it wasn't like she wanted them killed so Curtis had no grudge to hold. It was just something that happened to be on his mind when he approached her.
That cooould explain the lack of expression on Curtis face. He didn't look serious, upset, or anything that would make it easy to determine his purpose of approaching the Gryffindor table. "Bernie?" Curtis asked. Was she talking to someone already? Oops, too bad. He couldn't stick around long enough to wait on it. He leaned close enough for his whisper to only be intended for her to hear, "Isla needs you for Operation: Hideout at our table." Lesson one for delivering a message, as short as possible and to the point. Now hopefully, he won't have to repeat himself.
That's when Curtis realized, that he can't just dip out without it looking suspicious. He was sure he had eyes on him from the Staff Table. So to cover that up he had to do something else.
"What's up, Carsyn? You treating the new kids alright?" Yes, this was random. Especially since Curtis hardly ever acknowledged Prefects, but he had no hesitation in his actions, unless it was necessary.

It shouldn't surprise anyone that Phoebe approached the table at a gallop, crashed into the bench, and slid into her seat like her tail was on fire. Her tail was not actually on fire, but she didn't want to miss even a single moment and it had taken a minute to settle Beans.
She landed by Cece and Bernie and gave them both a huge grin, and Charlie got one by association. "I couldn't find you on the train, Ceceeeeeelia, darling, and I couldn't find Teddy or Tavie or Yoyo. But I did find Bernie, and she was amazingly helpful." Helpful, like she kept Phoebe from bawling her eyes out over not being able to find her other friends. "I have decided this is the year to notice boys, and I notice that one." She wiggled a finger at the new seventh year who was trying real hard to look cool. It worked.

The second year Charlie got a kind smile when she came over toward the table. Really, Islay had always found the young gryffindors smile to be utterly precious even if she hadn’t said much of anything to her. ”hey Charlie? Did you have a nice summer?” the older girl asked with a smile.
Stella was always so sweet, seriously it was grand knowing someone so sweet and accepting was in her house. ”yeah it was quite nice…lots of” her cheeks were flushing as she glanced over at the slytherin table for a moment and almost sighed ”adventures…and I’m glad of that,” she smiled happily to her before the movement from the other side of the table made her eyes widen in surprise. ”DREW? You’re here?” she asked her jaw a little bit slack as she looked at the older blonde boy.
”I haven’t seen you since…June back in 2100? At Beauxbaton’s end of year ball” she grinned her little heart swelling at the idea of seeing someone she had gone to school with for a short time. She was about to speak again when she overheard Phoebe’s words and just grinned. Awww, Drew deserved the attention seriously, did you see his face? He deserved it. Curtis got himself a kind smile and a small nod when he walked over.

Noah was stunned by the results of the sorting. Gryffindor would be fun, he reminded himself. All the houses sounded great but he couldn't help but feel slightly disappointed when he didn't end up in Hufflepuff. He had... well got so excited by the possibility of being a Hufflepuff for many of the people he had met had thought he'd make an excellent fit there that now when he didn't fit... He felt... kind of out of it? As if he had been punched in the gut and there wasn't any air to help him out.
He forced a small smile on his lips as he headed towards the Gryffindor table. However, his forced smile was replaced with a genuine one when he saw a familiar face (Islay) and then a bunch of other students chatting away. "Hi!" he said, waving an awkward hand at the group of Lions sitting. "I'm Noah. Fifth year Pu-" He paused and then corrected himself. "Gryffindor. I'm a transfer. Nice to meet you guys!"
Then he took an open seat near Islay who seemed quite excited to see a boy. An old friend, perhaps? wondered Noah. "Islay! Hey! Guess that we meet again?"

Bernie was NOT having a meltdown, thankyouverymuch Mr. Mustache man. The meltdown had already ended. Now she was in the making-weird-faces and coping-with-her-feelings stage. Yes, dear Prefect Lucas, she was okay. She was being mentored by Carsyn, see? SEE? DIDN'T SHE LOOK OKAY????????!

Wind? What wind? "There's no wind in here," Bernie replied, though there was a certain note of hesitation in her answer. Her face fell; she'd only been able to keep up the grin for a hot minute, and now that minute had passed. Plus... what if there WAS a magical wind in here?? It was raining, after all, and some kids might have been using drying spells and hot air charms and stuff.
Not her, though. She'd cast impervious on her robes before getting off the train. Thanks, Fuller-Thompson, for that lesson (among many) last year.

Annnnnnnnnd speaking of Fuller-Thompson.... Bernie's demented LOOk was definitely appearing more bug-eyed than anything at the moment his son showed up.
"It wasn't me," she announced before the older kid had the chance to accuse her of anything. But then he.... he leaned in, and she was forced to listen and somewhat enjoy his tickly-whisper.
Oh, oh gosh. This was tempting. An OPERATION? With Isla? Isla didn't ever break any rules EVER so Bernie thought maybe this would be a safe opportunity. But also, Curtis had said at our table, and she wasn't at all confident that she could go over there. Claudine would be coming in any minute now and then Fuller-Thompson (the older one) would be here, and she...she couldn't do it. She just couldn't go to the Slytherin table right now. It was WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too risky.
The Hufflepuffs, though? No one interesting was at THEIR table. "Tell her I'll meet her at the Puffs," she whispered back seriously to Curtis. There was no harm in at least SEEING what Isla wanted, right? RIGHT?
She nodded to the Slytherin to go ahead and relay the message. Then Bernie would wait for the coast to be clear before she sneaked off. She tried to smile bravely for Cece and Phoebe, in the meantime. That boy Phoebe was eying? "He can't grow a mustache," she mentioned off-handedly to her dormmates.

There was a slight breeze as the newest Gryffindor came to sit at the table. Was it bad that she hadn’t been paying attention to the ceremony? She had assumed Noah was going to be a Hufflepuff and then he was there….right freaking next to her?
AND A GRYFFINDOR? ”WE’RE IN THE SAME HOUSE?” she squeal-yelled as she turned to full on beam at Noah FREAKING Nam was a gryffindor like her. ”you look good in red Nam,” she grinned over to Noah … beamed really, like she had a few times on the train ride here. ”Noah this is Drew – Drew this is Noah…he and I used to be in the same house at Beauxbaton” she grinned before turning to look at Noah.
”can I give you a congrats on being a Gryffindor hug?” she asked ”…mix with the I’m still sorry I hit you with my book – hug?....a congratupology hug?”

Looking at Islay she smiled. "That's great, Landen was telling me that you and him got a crup puppy, oh my goodness I can't wait to meet it!" She loved creatures of all kinds and sorts, anyone who knew her knew that she did. Seeing Islay glance at the Slytherin table she giggled seeing Landen winking at Islay. "I think someone is trying to get your attention from the snake table!" She thougt they were cute together, definitely made for each other in her opinion.
Seeing Noah she smiled warmly at him. "Nice to meet you Noah, I'm Stella welcome to Gryffindor!" Looking at the Claw table she smiled and waved at Oceanus. Looking at Drew she smiled just noticing him, oopsie boy she was horrible but so many people! "Hello Drew, I'm Stella welcome to Gryffindor."
