Whether you are brand new to Hogwarts or have been here a while, the Entrance Hall is always a breath-taking sight to see. Always memorable are the high ceilings, the colourful portraits on the walls, and the grand marble staircase. Various torches light the large room, keeping it nice and cozy at all times of the year. Arched windows atop the staircase, featuring the four Hogwarts Founders in all of their glory, bring in natural lighting as well.
This room is the gateway to the rest of the castle; however, those parts are temporarily off-limits until Headmaster Trent dismisses the student body from the Start-of-Term Feast for bed. Of course, you are more than welcome to slip out of the Great Hall to use the restroom in the corridor a few doors down or take a short break from the crowded room after the speech has been given. Not much is happening out here besides a team of house-elves taking everyone's luggage to the appropriate dormitories. Don't linger out here too long; you have a feast to enjoy.
Bored? Here? How could someone be bored in a castle? Especially a castle where someone was learning magic? It didn't seem possible. This place was something that Alexia only imagine until recently. Though she supposed she felt the same way about going to public school this year, until she didn't have to. Now she wondered if they would feel the same way going to normal school as she did coming here.
...........
Yeah, on second thought, she didn't think so. Her school wasn't a castle. And it didn't have boats, or these cool uniforms. Her school only taught the basic things. They would probably be bored out of their minds in her school. Could Alexia even blame them? Even SHE thought her school was boring compared to this. This boy would probably fall asleep in his first 'normal' history class. At least he liked Hogwarts as much as she did.
"I get it. Privacy is important." She didn't really have a large family, as she was an only child, but she often had to share space with her softball team. Sharing space with about 10 other girls was no an easy task, especially when drama arose. And it ALWAYS seemed to arise. That was something she wasn't going to miss when she came here. The team drama. "Especially when you're always around other people."Alexia rolled her eyes teasingly, though it wasn't towards Dylan. She liked to think she understood what he was saying. Somewhat. "I don't know what house we're going to be sorted into, but I kind of hope we're in the same house, Dylan." She hoped she didn't sound TOO excited for another friend. But he seemed nice. And thoughtful. Very thoughtful. Which was interesting to Alexia, because she didn't think enough sometimes. It got her into trouble back home.
He chucked a little at her eye roll. There was something about this girl that drew out the best in him, and he enjoyed it. At home or in his primary school he was always so quiet and reserved. He never really talked to anyone or really had any friends. Knowing he was coming here, and leaving most of that behind, he didn't get attached to anyone. But here and now was a fresh new start.
"You know, Alexia, I hope so too." He smiled wide. It was nice having a friend. And how lucky he was too, to have made a friend on the first day.
"Okay, I have to ask..." He paused for a moment. "Why the pink hair? What are you a Meta?" He had never met a metamorphmagus before, but he knew they existed. He had read up on them one night when he was going through some of his siblings old books. One of the perks of having older siblings is that he didn't have to buy any of his school books. He had hand-me-downs from all of his siblings. He insisted on new robes though. There was no way he was going to be wearing stuff from his older brother. There was a small part of him that believed he didn't shower often.

A wide, crooked smile stretched across Alexia's lips as a devious plan began to form in her brain. She looked at the floor of the entrance hall and forcibly cleared her throat to get the look off of her face. She didn't want Dylan to catch wind of her little prank before she pulled it.
Back home, she was BAD at this stuff. So bad in fact, that she was always the last person to know about team pranks on another player, or the coach. But this was a new place. A place where she could at least TRY to prank her new friends. And Dylan seemed like a cool person. Alexia didn't think that he'd mind.
Once she thought she could handle herself, she looked up at Dylan and gasped, a shocked look on her face.
"You mean to tell me ...." She grabbed a few strands of her dyed hair in her hands and pretended to study them. "That this is PINK?" Small pause. "PINK? The hairdresser said she was dying it emerald!" Did people dye their hair emerald? Was that a thing? She didn't know anybody with green hair, but then again, she only knew one other person with pink hair, so who knew? "I TOLD her I was colorblind!" Was that how colorblindness worked? Alexia didn't know. Her dad was colorblind, but she never really thought to ask him. She had heard of red-green colorblind, but did that also make pink colors look green? She didn't know, she wasn't a medical doctor. She played softball, for goodness sakes!
She also didn't know what a meta was, but considering that she had never heard of it in a magical context, she was going to guess that she wasn't one of them. She was hoping that Dylan reacted to this little tease well, and that she didn't smile and give her motives away in the process.

Dylan's eyes went wide. Did she not know? Had she really gotten on the train, on the boats, and up the stairs without realizing her hair was not the color she got. Was this how muggles did their hair? Could they not just tap their wand to get their hair colored?
"Are you telling me you don't know??" He was so shaken by this. "Girl you have pink hair, you need your money back." Who did she pay to get green hair? Also why green? His sister's had changed his hair quiet a few times when he was younger. That was until his hair got stuck as a jet black color for a few weeks and his parents found out. They took away his sister's wands until his hair regained it's color.
